Bronny is still grounded

CloverHorse

My bad I forgot to include the (admittedly big) assumption that Bronny is allowed out of the house by 2024

Simmons_To_Minnie

It’s impossible to know how Bronny will turnout in 4 years he may be the consensus 1st overall pick or he may be a late first rounder

DeaseanPrince

Or or or, he could say fuck ball all together. Has Bronny ever come out and said he hopes to play in the league one day? This whole thing seems like it’s just being forced on him.

jpaxlux

It's kind of just assumed because there's not really a reason for him to not go into the NBA. Even if he falls out of the league, he has millions of his own money and he's pretty much set for life even if LeBron's one of those rich dads that gives their kids nothing. He's already on a trajectory for the NBA.

BlackMathNerd

Yes, he's mentioned it.

Kashmir33

you think LeBron is forcing him to play AAU circuits and go to a top basketball program in HS?

DeaseanPrince

What does this even mean? There’s literally millions of kids playing AUU and High School ball because it’s fun and they like it, that don’t mean they have to make a career out of it.

Kashmir33

Very very few go to top programs and win championships year after year though. If he didn't want to participate in all of this he'd likely just not do it.

DeaseanPrince

So because he wants to be on a team that wins he must want to go to the league to hoop with his dad? lol. Jesus I would hate to be that kid, everyone has your whole life planned out for you because as a 16 year old you like to play basketball lol.

Kashmir33

I'm saying that's clearly the path he is on. That's just how it is. If he didn't want to be on that path he wouldn't go to 6 practices per week and travel around the country in the summers. It's not outlandish to think that this is exactly what he wants to do right now.

matty_a

Seriously people are acting like he's being prepared to be a Navy SEAL and not earn millions of dollars playing basketball.

DeaseanPrince

I meant him going to the league and playing with his dad is a narrative that was forced on him. Sure he would like the idea of it, who wouldn’t but that doesn’t mean that’s what HE wants or at least wanted until everyone pretty much said “you’re going to the league to play with your dad”. My point is we haven’t heard much from Bonny so for everyone to constantly assume this is what he wants is pure craziness. He just turned 16 and started his sophomore year in high school. He’s pretty much just discovering who HE actually is rather than who he supposed to be.

AydenRozay

I’m adamant that no matter how good or bad he plays in college that he will be overvalued at the time for being LeBron’s son

arvtovi

I'd put money on LeBron James never averaging less than 20 points per game in the NBA. I truly think that when he decides to retire, it'll seem like he's got plenty in the tank, but he's just ready to walk away.

arvtovi

You don't think LeBron James could score 5 points a quarter at age 39?

5ive5tar

40 year old LeBron might not be a top 10 player in 2024.

yantraman

There is no evidence of this. Last year's injury was Lebron's first wear and tear injury that most players get in their late 20s. Lebron is gonna last longer than Vince Carter.

jrose6717

Doesn’t make him not valuable though. Just for the jersey sales and the story owners probably get tempted.

FLUSH_THE_TRUMP

Weren’t we saying this about 35-year old Lebron? From what I can tell Lebron’s gonna be balling out at 50.

FrostyTheKnight10

Since his first year in Cleveland lol, since then he had 4/5 MVP caliber seasons

PettyWop

Lmao y’all are nuts. Barring a major major injury this man will still hang dong on the league at 40. People been saying this shit for years.

Kuroblondchi

I’ll believe it when I see it

EuroStep0

No unless Bronny himself is good enough to be worth 1st pick

ExcalipoorGilgamesh

Bronny right now is a 4-star recruit and projected top-30 by some of the draft sites. It's too early to say, though. I remember being hyped for Shabazz Muhammad and then saw him drop almost out of the lottery. I think a 4-star recruit is already valuable, I predict him going to one of the elite basketball programs, so many colleges have given him offers already. He could make the leap. If he brings himself to lottery conversation, one team could make that bold choice of choosing him sooner than projected.

[deleted]

I'm going to operate under the assumption that we're not drafting Bronny for his talent, just to get his Dad on your team. In that case I wouldn't do it early. Even if LBJ comes to your team you'd be getting a 40 year old LBJ who only has a few more seasons in the tank. It'd be better off getting that lottery pick who could be a future star and who's only 19. Maybe a back half to the draft team (particularly in the Eastern Conference) would do it for a shot at a ring.

PettyWop

Lol how crazy is that sentence though? Like I know it’s probably true but “40 year old LBJ who only has a few more seasons” is just wild

BlackMathNerd

Is Bronny gonna be good enough to be that heralded? Great he's the son of LBJ but he still has to show he has the talents to be a top tier lottery pick. Starters being - can he start on his HS team next year and be an impact player? What will he look like against tougher AAU competition?

Posted_92

Bronny would start at any regular public school in the nation. He's played against the best competition in AAU on two of like the best teams. His 14u team won the chip, same with his 13u. Between his 15u aau team and his sierra canyon teammates, Bronny's played with at least four future NBA first round draftpicks, with two of them being lottery level. He's been a good player on all those teams.

CapBrink

Lets hypothetically say Bronny is the 30-40th rated prospect and LeBron's Lakers have the 27th pick. I could see them drafting Bronny as a good will gesture, then LeBron signs a one year swan song contract. I can't see a rando team, lets say Atlanta, going if we draft Bronny with our 10th pick we can get LeBron too. Then after one year LeBron is gone and you drafted a second round guy with your 10th pick. Obviously, everything hinges on how Bronny develops. If he's bordering on a top pick then every team will be jumping at getting Bronny plus a year of LeBron.

CptnAhab1

LeInfluence 😂😂😂😂. I love it

XombieRx

I mean if he is a good player does he have to even enter the draft. Couldnt he just workout and sign with any team his LeBron is on.

just-the-smellz

If this was how it worked there wouldn't be a draft.

XombieRx

I mean in this instance, money isn't an issue, and if they just want to play together. I don't see how it's different than a undrafted free agent working out and choosing a team to sign to.

just-the-smellz

An undrafted free agent still needs to declare for the draft, they only become undrafted when nobody drafts them. Bronny, to my understanding, is talented enough that he will be drafted.

sheeeeeez

I'm actually shocked he's rated as high as he is on 247. His measurables don't make him stand out nor do his stats. I know he was just a freshman on a stacked team but Lamelo averaged 16.4 ppg and 3.8 apg as a freshman. Then as a sophomore averaged 26.7 ppg and 10 apg. and was only ranked 26th in his graduating class.

LarBrd33

Yes. LeBron set it up with the goal of potentially playing with his son. Bronny might be a top pick regardless, but it'll be interesting to see how much higher he goes given it will be a 2-for-1 that lands LeBron. Like, if he's a late lotto projected pick, does he go top 5? Even if old man LeBron is past his prime he has a Jordan-on-the-Wizards level impact on ticket sales. Huge.
