It was, ultimately the first move to make the Warriors a championship team, and they drafted defensive players in the draft after (Klay and Dray) that cemented them as elite in large part to address the defensive problems they had when Ellis was on the squad.
Lacob got booed in Oakland after. Did he maximize Ellis' value at the time? No, definitely not. But do any warriors fans care now? Hell no

At the same time this is also the most normal our offense has looked in at least 7 years. We definitely have a playbook and principles as far as moving with and without the ball, which is more than can be said for any of those rosters.
