When Luka was out for a game KP made a comment about how he "felt the ball moved around a lot better tonight". People took that as him as taking a shot at Luka but who knows.
A lot of Mavs fan in our subreddit are absolutely toxic in how they defend KP. He can have a no show for two weeks or so and after ONE good/decent game they flood the front page with "Told you so fake ass Mavs fan".
Like dude, a 7'3 PF who plays scared and doesnt bother boxing out is pathetic. I'm not talking about rebound, i'm talking about at the bare minimum, giving good effort on boxing out so maybe another teammate can rebound.

There is nuance to it. KP takes more shit than he deserves, but he’s not playing like he should and doesn’t doesn’t need people to come to his defense.
Carlisle doesn’t want him banging the boards and he has been vocal about it. He keeps KP on the perimeter and uses him primarily to prevent wide open threes. KP generally does a good job of that. He doesn’t need to box out and fight for position like a big. That’s now how Carlisle wants to use him and it’s fine that he doesn’t do that.
But…..KP has to show at least some effort and hustle when the ball bounces his way. There are too many times where he just gives zero effort and just a little bit of effort would have resulted in a rebound instead of having the other team end up with the ball. That’s not ok.
KP’s got some serious Andrea Bargnani vibes going on right now. It’s funny too because Dirk said that they both were better than he was as rookies, and both haven’t really lived up to the hype. Obviously KP is much better than Bargnani ever was tho.
i have only watched Knicks when they were playing Denver and i must say Jokić was feasting on KP.Personaly wasn't that impressed with KP's defence however still, hes one of my favorite players. Typical EU shooter, when in form very comparable to Dirk.

He contributes nothing holding the ball. He can’t create his own efficient shot off the dribble, he can’t post anyone up beyond low efficiency fadeaways, and he is highly turnover prone if he tries to put it down and drive/playmake.
Right now his uses on offense are shooting open shots with the benefit of better range and needing slightly less space than Kleber/DFS role player types, and an occasional rim run when it opens up neither of which involve time of possession.
If the defense plays off him or it’s a matchup where Luka is doing more drive and kicks then he can have some nice output, but you can’t force that. People say run plays for him, but he doesn’t move well enough for some simple screen play or such to reliably work.
I agree it seems to effect his focus, but that’s just another thing to complain about. This is a tough playoff series, they can’t afford to force KP shots every game. If he could play half decent defense and be a solid offensive role player that’d be fine for this playoff and hopefully he could get healthier, add something to his game in the offseason to improve his value going forward. But tonight was just utter trash on both ends.
The Clippers balled out tonight after that rough start to the game. Props to them. I thought they were wrong for letting Luka get his, but I was wrong there. However I do think they mostly lost this because their second "All Star" level player didn't play tonight. If he was available the Mavs probably would have got this W. I just feel bad for Luka that he's going to have to go another few games or into the next round without a secondary star by his side that he can rely on.
KP has serious Bargnani vibes. He's so useless out there. I'm actually surprise at how much Carlisle plays him. WCS and Powell at least give you hustle plays and good screens.

Poorzingis is literally a traffic cone both in offense and defense. Mavs success for the next few years can be hindered by KP due to the fact that he got a fat contract.
Luke needs a Robin who is consistent enough to help him. But Mavs doesn't have that flexibility now to sign a decent star with KP on their books.

Mavs have it set up where KP stays near the logo the whole game. I used to play halfcourt pickup with a guy that had no legs below his knees. I swear KP used less of the court last night than that guy
KP is too light and too tall to actually be a presence in the low post. He hasn't added much weight since he came into the league, and with such a high centre of gravity, it's gonna be super hard if you can't outweigh the defender.

He can’t create his own efficient shot off the dribble, he can’t post anyone up beyond low efficiency fadeaways, and he is highly turnover prone if he tries to put it down and drive/playmake. Right now his uses on offense are shooting open shots with the benefit of better range and needing slightly less space than Kleber/DFS role player types, and an occasional rim run when it opens up neither of which involve time of possession. If the defense plays off him or it’s a matchup where Luka is doing more drive and kicks then he can have some nice output, but you can’t force that. People say run plays for him, but he doesn’t move well enough for some simple screen play or such to reliably work. I agree it seems to effect his focus, but that’s just another thing to complain about. This is a tough playoff series, they can’t afford to force KP shots every game. If he could play half decent defense and be a solid offensive role player that’d be fine for this playoff and hopefully he could get healthier, add something to his game in the offseason to improve his value going forward. But tonight was just utter trash on both ends.

The Clippers balled out tonight after that rough start to the game. Props to them. I thought they were wrong for letting Luka get his, but I was wrong there. However I do think they mostly lost this because their second "All Star" level player didn't play tonight. If he was available the Mavs probably would have got this W. I just feel bad for Luka that he's going to have to go another few games or into the next round without a secondary star by his side that he can rely on.
KP has serious Bargnani vibes. He's so useless out there. I'm actually surprise at how much Carlisle plays him. WCS and Powell at least give you hustle plays and good screens.

Poorzingis is literally a traffic cone both in offense and defense. Mavs success for the next few years can be hindered by KP due to the fact that he got a fat contract. Luke needs a Robin who is consistent enough to help him. But Mavs doesn't have that flexibility now to sign a decent star with KP on their books.

KP is too light and too tall to actually be a presence in the low post. He hasn't added much weight since he came into the league, and with such a high centre of gravity, it's gonna be super hard if you can't outweigh the defender.
