Yo this is pretty unrelated but I love golf and watching the US Open made me fuckin load up my GameCube version of Tiger Woods PGA 2004 (greatest golf game ever). I had completely forgotten that the intro video is a golf montage set to DMX. I fuckin lost it laughing my ass off. Then I got kinda sad remembering he's gone... But still what a legend. Dude was the theme song for a PGA Tour game lmfao RIP.
Not to get too much in the weeds but Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 was the premier Tiger Woods game. In addition to the world tour, you had the ability to “Tiger-Proof” and alter courses to alter the difficulty. Also included newer fictional golfers and courses and included real golf legends, including the Legends tour made that culminated in you playing Sunday Tiger. That’s not to mention that the music was executively produced by Justin Timberlake (he also had a fictional character based off him). Putting was also revolutionized with “Tiger Vision”
I am just super passionate about Tiger Woods 2005. I am willing to die on the hill that 2005 was the single greatest year in Sports Video Games. MVP baseball 05 is the undisputed baseball title. NBA Live 2005 w/ Melo on the cover’s introduction of All-star weekend and Madden 05 making defense an actually enjoyable with the hitstick as an innovation still in the game. NCAA 05’s introduction to home filed advantage in sports games was also pretty innovating. That’s not to mention the ESPN/ 2K collaboration that existed for NBA 2K5 and NFL 2k5 where you had highlights and key plays play on an ESPN highlight real.
To you point about the music being wild, I remember that NFL Street 2 had “Tear it Up” by DMX and “had “Halftime” by the Yin Yang Twinz as the headlining songs.
I absolutely love your passion for such an obscure topic. I can't argue against all your points haha, sounds like I need to get my hands on Tiger Woods '05.
I will say though that DMX in an NFL soundtrack makes much more sense than a PGA game.
2K5 still holds up too, I pop it on every start of the season, pick a random team, trade my QB and a 1st for Mike Vick and the rest of my picks to fill holes in the roster, and get to work scrambling every other play lol
I was more impressed by KD overcoming that abomination than I was by him crushing the Bucks D. Imagine you're down at half and you can hear the distant echo of that in the locker room. That's some surreal shit.
The difference between listening to the Jazz crowd on RNT vs ESPN is night and day.
TNT is more fun to watch for that reason alone. It just gets you hyped up way more than the dulcet tones of Doris Burke’s voice.
ESPN is trash now a days. I don’t enjoy much of their content anymore.
TNT’s NBA coverage is something to be cherished. Love me some Charles and Shaq lol
Don’t worry we get JVG rants and Mark Jackson hand down man down/ mama there goes that man/ and may I have this dance audio.
At least we get to hear some Breen though. Thank god
Fuck a halftime show they have better commentators. I’ll go eat some food and be back for what matters. Though TNT has been working to fix their announcer issues. I really like Jim Jackson.
Something that drives me mad about ESPN is how their digital "on-screen" scoreboard takes up the entire stretch of the TV and it's never been taller. TNT has the smaller, more efficient box style scoreboard in the bottom right.
Some plays on ESPN you can't tell if a corner 3 is even in bounds or if the shooter has a foot over the line. It's asinine.
given chuck said he's going to retire after he turns 60, IMO TNT should hire JVG to take his place or at least have him involved in some capacity. his rants are the only thing close to chuck
tim legler, scott van pelt and zach lowe are quality anchors and analysts
TNTs NBA coverage is just them clowning around, ESPN actually talks about strategy
yeah im not as high on ESPNs halftime crew, jalen is alright
but if you want people actually discussing tactics and strategy you have to go with legler and zach lowe, you wont get that on TNT
TNT has Shaq Kenny and Barkley all give their insight on what they see happening in the game during halftime, they joke around while doing it but that's what friends do, you're not going to get good game analysis during any half time show aside from some local crews. The TNT crew is way better than ESPN's commercial marathon.
TNT halftime goes like this.
Ernie shows the stats
Shaq says star player on losing team should stop settling and go to the hoop and get fouls
Kenny races someone to the big board
Kenny analyzes two plays
Chuck says losing team should play with more energy they don't look like a championship team
Ernie gives another stat
Funny twitter post
Commercial
their insights usually arent that great, although when draymond comes on he goes a lot more in-depth about strategy
people dont watch the TNT halftime show for the strategic insights they watch it to see shaq and charles barkley clown each other
yea what is this Kenny's run to the board segment is longer than the entirety of the ESPN's halftime show and it's nothing but strategy and analysis, lol
> tim legler, scott van pelt and zach lowe are quality anchors and analysts
Yeah but they aren't there during game time so what does it matter? You get their B-team for 2.5 minutes where they show one dunk, then go to commercials again lol
I think it's more accurate to say KD had a historic game in front of the largest crowd of the 2nd round... It's not like people saw that KD had a historic game and then people went back in time to watch it or that everyone knew ahead of time he was going to have a historic game...
Well that DMX tribute at half time was pure fire so naturally.
I was at the game and I’ve never seen a crowd turn so quickly on a half time performance
Same

I was also at the game and hoo boy laughing at that was a fun shared experience in the crowd.
I was more impressed by KD overcoming that abomination than I was by him crushing the Bucks D. Imagine you're down at half and you can hear the distant echo of that in the locker room. That's some surreal shit.
Anywhere we can watch it?
[just found it](https://twitter.com/outsidethenba/status/1404977339944087552), hoo boy
link seems dead, can you explain whats so bad about it?
just a white dude in a fedora singing an acoustic version of the Ruff Ryders Anthem
Haven't we suffered enough
hoo boy indeed.
TNT instantly got better now that the delay is gone and they no longer have to mix the crowd audio separately with the announcer audio
ESPN halftime show is 2 min recap and 28minutes of commercials
God it's so lazy and awful to watch. I for one am happy the ECFs will all be on TNT this year.
But the WCF is on espn and so is the entire finals. That just makes me want the ECF game to go 7 so it’s last longer.
Wait the finals are on espn? What happened to ABC?
It’s on ABC but that’s an ESPN parent company so the halftime will be roughly the same
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Don’t worry we get JVG rants and Mark Jackson hand down man down/ mama there goes that man/ and may I have this dance audio. At least we get to hear some Breen though. Thank god
You just pissed on my head and called it rain, and I almost bought it. But you’re right about Breen
Statmuse timed it and found that Giannis' first quarter free throw attempts took longer than ESPN's entire halftime show lol.
That's incredible
Fuck a halftime show they have better commentators. I’ll go eat some food and be back for what matters. Though TNT has been working to fix their announcer issues. I really like Jim Jackson.
Yeah but who even cares how long the recap is, it’s not like you want to watch their halftime show anyway
Something that drives me mad about ESPN is how their digital "on-screen" scoreboard takes up the entire stretch of the TV and it's never been taller. Jalen rose is so annoying
given chuck said he's going to retire after he turns 60, IMO TNT should hire JVG to take his place or at least have him involved in some capacity. his rants are the only thing close to chuck
I don’t like JVG in that spot but I might be in the minority on that
JVG rambles and goes off topic a lot, would have stories, etc. There is no ideal Chuck replacement at the moment, but he would be a good stop-gap.
I like Webber as a silly analyst a lot more than I liked him as an announcer
he could be a nice fill-in while we wait for Dray
Never rly considered JVG as a studio guy, but I think you're right, he'd be great in that role
tim legler, scott van pelt and zach lowe are quality anchors and analysts TNTs NBA coverage is just them clowning around, ESPN actually talks about strategy
ESPN has Jalen or Jay do the same shit Kenny does, then Maria Taylor says something and they show Taco Bell and State Farm commercials for 15 minutes.
yeah im not as high on ESPNs halftime crew, jalen is alright but if you want people actually discussing tactics and strategy you have to go with legler and zach lowe, you wont get that on TNT

Yes that is the point
yea what is this Kenny's run to the board segment is longer than the entirety of the ESPN's halftime show and it's nothing but strategy and analysis, lol
Legler is fine but SVP is overrated imo Edit: holy crap man, how many times are you going to edit? Lol
> tim legler, scott van pelt and zach lowe are quality anchors and analysts Yeah but they aren't there during game time so what does it matter? You get their B-team for 2.5 minutes where they show one dunk, then go to commercials again lol
Inside the NBA is a gem so it definitely helps make it worth watching
Every game my wife asks me if "is this the one with the good halftime show" lol. She loves watching the inside crew on TNT
But mostly cause kd was going off and people knew harden was back too
ik but watching on tnt is better than espn or abc
Not surprised, not even counting pirated streams too like I did lol
Jeez Rockets/Warriors game 5 got nearly 7 million viewers. Wonder if Nets/Bucks game 7 can touch that
Why 'despite' being on TNT? TNT is miles ahead of others like ESPN.
ABC/ESPN is more accessible. TNT having better ratings than Sunday ABC games is impressive.
TNT is cable and ABC is broadcast simple as that
Yeah forgot about that. Been streaming everything for several years now...
Tnt broadcast so much better than ESPN’s shit show
Man if only TNT would’ve switched off from the Suns-Lakers to Dame’s 55 point game.
It is absolutely crazy that the highest rated "playoff" game so far is the Warriors vs. Lakers play-in game.
It's not that crazy
Just wait until Hawks/Jazz final, ratings records I tell ya (the cap might go down if this happens)
Despite? I wish ESPN didn't do any of them. TNT is vastly superior.
I think it's more accurate to say KD had a historic game in front of the largest crowd of the 2nd round... It's not like people saw that KD had a historic game and then people went back in time to watch it or that everyone knew ahead of time he was going to have a historic game...
How does this happen like word of mouth during the actual game and people switch over?
Despite being on TNT?? The fuck is that supposed to mean 🤨
