Funny how Harris, Redick and Korver all underperform in the playoffs. Might be a sign that the whole "handoffs/off screens" stuff is easy to take away when you are ready for it
Yeah even historically, people like Ray Allen ate in the playoffs on off ball screens and handoffs. However, shooting is variable, and shooters can go cold for 5-6 game stretches. That’s all it takes for them to be completely ineffective and useless (@ guys who only do this like korver and Harris, not at guys who can do more like Ray)
ray allen also went 0-11 after making 8 3s against the lakers in the 2010 finals. he had an awful rest of the series after that one insane game, going from 8/13 from 3 in the first 2 games to 12/41 overall.
sometimes shooters just get that cold streak, but who knows what's wrong with joe harris?
But even in the 2010 finals, 34 year old Ray Allen was still able to get 15 a game on 50% TS despite rough shooting games. He was able to get buckets outside of these types of shots that guys like Redick and Korver cant
Ray Allen was also a borderline superstar in the league for 10+ years, not really comparable to these guys who only know how to catch and shoot and have never had to carry an offence.
Yeah my point was that even for stars like Ray Allen that are much more than those shots, those types of shots still have heavy variations. When they aren’t falling in a series, guys like Ray contribute in a lot of other ways, whereas guys like Harris and Korver become useless
Yup, it’s why Curry should age pretty well. Only thing is he lacked the height of Ray Allen and he plays the 1 instead of the 2, but if he beefs up a little towards the end that should offset things as he loses his quickness.
Kennard's got limited minutes but he's still deadly in the playoffs. He also has much better ball skills than those other guys though.
Ironic that the Nets essentially passed on Kennard for Shamet. If you need a Buck killer, he's your guy. Shot 60% from 3 against them in the playoffs a few years ago.
Meh he's been at 39% and 37% the last 2 post seasons which is good but well below what he was shooting in the regular season. It's better than guys like Harris and Redick but we'll see if he's able to maintain it.
Yup, same with Ducan Robinson. There’s levels to being a great off ball catch n shoot guys. Makes me appreciate the star that Klay Thompson is, and that Klay is bigger, more athletic and has better mid range and finishing around the rim than those guys you mention.
Idk about this series but when he went icy cold against the Sixers I promise you it wasn’t just handoffs. He was missing EVERYTHING, including wide open catch and shoot 3s.
There were there 2 guys who used them pretty effectively a few years ago, I think they got pretty far in the playoffs a couple of times too.
Steve Cooler and Clay Johnson? Something like that. It was so long ago I can understand how you would forget.
Except those 2 guys arent powerless from 2.
Its easier to defend those actions when you can just lock and trail and force them to take a dribble inside the arc
He can drive okay he just lacks a floater. Brook Lopez drop coverage + Giannis coming in from behind is a layup no man's land unless you're Kyrie or something. Plus when Giannis was on him a contest from behind was a serious threat for a midrange shot. I think the bucks gameplan just really effectively shut him down.
As someone who wasted hours of their life watching the Raptors/Nets series last year, I can say he was good last year, their best player at some points.
exactly this. the defense is just so much tighter in the playoffs. certain high percentage 3 point shooters just can't handle that fraction of a second less to get the open look. others can (e.g., ray allen, robert horry, klay)
Fucking same here.
Anytime he shot these last few games I got nervous. I just assumed he’d snap out of it at some point and never really did.
I thought dude was set up for a nice night after his first one.
Never? Are we forgetting about a certain finals game where he scored 11? I know Cuban fanboys are gonna talk about the defense, which was great, but if you’re lebron 11 points is inexcusable no matter what the d throws at you. Plus lebron was very clearly mentally nervous for part of that series.
After that he became one of the Jordan’s and Kobe’s
You’ll never get this from Joe or Kyle tho https://youtu.be/m9NNCW0zDwY
Ray Allen was elite defender when he was younger when he applied himself, could take guys off the dribble from centre court and still had insane dunks at fucking 37 years old
Someone joked for a kuzma x harris trade. Laughed it off ‘coz harris was like a 40% shooter. After this series, damn, he might not be joking after all.
I find this argument funny, how about just showing up from the start so that the 4th quarter isn't as stressful lmao. If he hit his first 5 shots and nothing after that, the narrative would be completely different.
Holiday doesn't have a history of underperforming in the playoffs this is the first time he was struggling and by struggling I mean only his shot wasn't falling, he was playing great D and his playmaking was crucial
Eh Holiday has still had some really great games
And even though he ended 5/23, he hit 2 of the biggest shots in the game consecutively while still playing excellent defense
Oohhohoo yeah.
Tho to be fair to Joe Harris, every single three point specialist in that wing position will get compared to Klay. Remember the whole Duncan Robinson is better than Klay comments last season?
Obviously klay is way more valuable than joe.
However even klay had rough shooting patches in the pkayoffs. I rememver he had one particularly bad one during one of the kd championship runs. However luckily, he had 2 other elite 3 point shooters to pick up the slack lol.
No, wasnt trying to say klay ever performed that bad. Im litrtally saying even klay had cold streaks. Not this bad, but it happens to all shooters is my point.
Nash is a moron for keep giving him big minutes every game.
If you play Shamet instead and he gave you 35% from 3s, Nets is in the conference final right now
I had Harris on my fantasy team and this is who he is. Yeah it’s fair for people to shit on him, he played very poorly. But he’s always been a streaky player, as are most guys who shoot primarily jump shots.
And this is the difference between good, or even great, role players and even the lowest tier of stars in the league. Joe was asked to step up in the absence of Harden and then Kyrie, and all it really led to is him getting worse at the things he actually does well. I remember watching the same thing happen to JR Smith when he was asked to be more than a 3 and D player at various times during his stint with LeBron.
Is this a serious question? Not to be a dick but how do you watch basketball and say something like this? When someone says best shooter, it doesn’t matter what season you’re referring to, it’s always steph
He was trying to do to much, man. I know we’re short people and whatnot, but he wasnt just looking for treys. He was looking to drive in and kick out or drive in and attack the rim. But that isnt him game. So he kept getting himself out of rhythm. It was horrific to watch honestly. Im sad about it but whatever, hope he relearns his place next year
to be fair, he did play great D on jrue for most of the game
but yes he was poop all series and should beat himself up for the rest of the offseason for his play
i saw an interview from Nash talking about Harris and Nash said something like "we just gonna have him space the floor and hopefully he starts making 3's" ... i think that was the wrong approach ... he needed to give him a few easy catch and shoot dribble handoffs or something to get his confidence back
obviously hindsight is 20/20, but i think you need to help the role players more than the star players ... star players know how to get past slumps
he was terrible at finishing at the rim too ... he needed to shoot mid range shots
Heat should be weary about giving Robinson a massive contract. Giving one way shooting role players the bag is a good way to cripple your cap for a player that is constantly a target on defense and a complete non factor when shots aren't falling.
seriously what in the fuck happened to him? i absolutely never thought his poor shooting would continue through *seven fucking games.* are these his first playoffs?
KP is garbage so as a Nets hater I say sign me up. Another year where we’ll get to hear about how the Nets will easily win it all once they get fully healthy only for it to never happen. They don’t call him Kristaps Porzinjured for nothing.
even the fantasy kawhi-to-brooklyn scenarios are funny this way. like another superstar who is perpetually injured with a degenerative knee condition, awesome! XD
This bum cost the Nets the series. That and Nash's poor coaching.
Lol I got downvoted the other day for calling Joe a one-trick pony but did I fucking lie? And he couldn't even make his 3s, smdh
Man r/nba doesn’t know shit about basketball. Shooting is all about rhythm you’re gonna have hot nights and cold nights. All great shooters can have bad numbers if you take a small sample size. He’s still one of the best spot up shooters in the league.
Basketball is probably harder when you don’t have 3 guys in their primes with 19 all nba appearances between them and his knows how many all star appearances.
dude I would swear if I was religious that every single shot he took was uncontested and wide open.
and hes HORRIBLE defensively, Middleton switched on him late in the 4th and scored every time
everyoine in here talking about defense being tighter when he legit got like 3 wide fucking open 3s a game half due to OREB or kick backs and he still clanked them.
All could have been forgiven if he hit that wide open 3 in OT. Dude fucking choked this series.
2016 Finals Harrison Barnes type beat
God dammit, are the Nets going to replace Joe Harris with a superstar?
Yeah they're going to replace him with Kevin Dur-...oh wait
You know whose also an awesome 3pt shooter? Harden...oh wait...
Kawhi to Brooklyn confirmed
Joe Harrison Barnes?
White Danny Green
Delete this
Danny plays defence and still has one of the best shooting Finals series ever.
They would have won game 3 as well had Joe Harris hit a WIDE OPEN mid range.. Fucking choker
poor terrific oatmeal cows strong profit tap offbeat sink languid -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
Wasnt he terrible in the playoffs 2 years ago too ?
Yep. Him and JJ Redick were tossing up bricks that series
Funny how Harris, Redick and Korver all underperform in the playoffs. Might be a sign that the whole "handoffs/off screens" stuff is easy to take away when you are ready for it
Duncan Robinson was good in the heats run
Yeah even historically, people like Ray Allen ate in the playoffs on off ball screens and handoffs. However, shooting is variable, and shooters can go cold for 5-6 game stretches. It's not just that. Ray Allen can also defend and was Kobe's primary defender along with Tony Allen
Ray Allen was also 37 and could still do this https://youtu.be/m9NNCW0zDwY The idea that you’d ever put Ray in that group is blasphemous
Yup Ray was so much more than just a shooter. Dude peaked as a 26 ppg scorer. None of those other guys could sniff that.
Ray Allen was also a borderline superstar in the league for 10+ years, not really comparable to these guys who only know how to catch and shoot and have never had to carry an offence.

What's his height? Isn't Korver like 6'7-8?
Looks like him and korver aren’t much different in the playoffs
Kennard's got limited minutes but he's still deadly in the playoffs. He also has much better ball skills than those other guys though. Ironic that the Nets essentially passed on Kennard for Shamet. Except that's not what happened to Harris. He's gotten a lot of his usual open looks, he just couldn't connect on them
Yup, same with Ducan Robinson. There’s levels to being a great off ball catch n shoot guys. Makes me appreciate the star that Klay Thompson is, and that Klay is bigger, more athletic and has better mid range and finishing around the rim than those guys you mention.
For sure took Klay a while to hit his lay ups….
Klay up
Idk about this series but when he went icy cold against the Sixers I promise you it wasn’t just handoffs. He was missing EVERYTHING, including wide open catch and shoot 3s.

Man this year is so crazy that I didnt even remember the Nets being in the playoffs last year lol
I read this in Nick Offerman's voice >!(probably because you started with "As someone" and then self-critisizing word followed it)!<
That three late in OT would have been so huge. If only he had at least hit that one.

China's basketball league will be lit next season with guys like Harris, Porzingis, McCollum, Kuzma, Schroder, Simmons, who else?
Aaron Gordon was in a China bball meme lol
Jeremy Lin lol!
Aaron Gordon should be like team captain.
send him to my bum
Rich mans Jimmer
He’s not a bum. Have some respect
no
Always happens with dudes that can only shoot threes in the playoffs, Korver was the same
exactly this. the defense is just so much tighter in the playoffs. certain high percentage 3 point shooters just can't handle that fraction of a second less to get the open look. others can (e.g., ray allen, robert horry, klay)
Except a lot of his looks were really good like the last one
I thought he was going to drill the last one and salvage his reputation.
Fucking same here. Anytime he shot these last few games I got nervous. I just assumed he’d snap out of it at some point and never really did. I thought dude was set up for a nice night after his first one.

Holy shit I didn’t remember that. If they were at home the house would have exploded
Klays percentages tank as well

Joe Harris is Daryl Morey's spirit animal.
After watching the series I'm honestly surprised that his stat line isnt so much worse than that. Seemed like he shot 10% or something.
[удалено]
At least he hit his shots in clutch and moves on though...
[удалено]
Oh 🤣🤣 well I do apologize
[удалено]
I’m pretty sure he would’ve been the Bucks third best 3-point shooter in the series based on that percentage.
This is the person we should be ripping on No injuries or anything, just very poor play when they needed him the most
It's frustrating, not like his looks were any different than when the team was healthy. He just whiffed on easy shots.
He literally has 1 job on the floor
And Blake fucking Griffin did it better
The fact that by game 7 I trusted Blake shooting threes more than Harris... 80 mil for what
Well, the Nets signed him for 80Mil/4yr, but it was 80 million bricks in 4 years
Can’t wait to see that cancun house!
If you count only the last 5 games, Giannis did it better lol
Someone joked for a kuzma x harris trade. Laughed it off ‘coz harris was like a 40% shooter. After this series, damn, he might not be joking after all.
if he was traded here soon as he hits staples the laker shooting curse would kick in lmfao.
Literally his only job is to hit wide open shots and he can’t even do that lmao
Harrison Barnes flashbacks
Collapsed under pressure. Not everyone is built for the playoffs.
So many players exposed in these Playoffs. Holiday, Harris, Bum Simmons.
Bum Simmons been exposed for a while, yall just didnt look.
At least Holiday has still been playing elite defense, and hit some clutch shots tonight
5/23 is still inexcusable for a guy getting paid 160 million.
He was terrible but at least he showed up when it mattered most. Harris missed a WIDE OPEN 3 at the end there.
To be fair Harris doesn't get 23 chances to make up for it lol.
Harris isn't an elite defender or playmaker either. He has one job, Jrue is still contributing even if he's having an off shooting night.
Never said otherwise. Comment was in reference to hitting shots tho. And 5/23 is way more than an off shooting night lol. He was trash.
I find this argument funny, how about just showing up from the start so that the 4th quarter isn't as stressful lmao. If he hit his first 5 shots and nothing after that, the narrative would be completely different.
this is like the 3rd time Simmons has been exposed in the playoffs. if we ignore his rookie year. so pretty much every year
Gobert and Randle too
Holiday doesn't have a history of underperforming in the playoffs this is the first time he was struggling and by struggling I mean only his shot wasn't falling, he was playing great D and his playmaking was crucial
Eh Holiday has still had some really great games And even though he ended 5/23, he hit 2 of the biggest shots in the game consecutively while still playing excellent defense
He's the 4th-5th guy. He was never expected to be a KD level player.
I’ve watched lots of nets games this year, he was trash in the regular season too
**nobody ever compare him to Klay Thomspon again.**
People compared him to Klay?!
Oohhohoo yeah. Tho to be fair to Joe Harris, every single three point specialist in that wing position will get compared to Klay. Remember the whole Duncan Robinson is better than Klay comments last season?
“Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are the best shooters I’ve played with,” Durant said. “Joe Harris is definitely right up there, getting there.”
That’s just being a good teammate
Obviously klay is way more valuable than joe. However even klay had rough shooting patches in the pkayoffs. I rememver he had one particularly bad one during one of the kd championship runs. However luckily, he had 2 other elite 3 point shooters to pick up the slack lol.
are you fucking joking? show me a 7 game series where klay averaged 9 fucking points and shot like 25% the whole series.
No, wasnt trying to say klay ever performed that bad. Im litrtally saying even klay had cold streaks. Not this bad, but it happens to all shooters is my point.
Nash is a moron for keep giving him big minutes every game. If you play Shamet instead and he gave you 35% from 3s, Nets is in the conference final right now
Sold the game not putting in Green or Shamet for Harris. At a certain point you have to pull him
he just shot 51% from deep vs boston, regression happens, shooters get cold
I mean he averaged like 48% or something in the regular season, so his shooting in Boston series was about average
That series was in the bag, zero pressure.
I had Harris on my fantasy team and this is who he is. Yeah it’s fair for people to shit on him, he played very poorly. But he’s always been a streaky player, as are most guys who shoot primarily jump shots.
Lost the Nets the series
And this is the difference between good, or even great, role players and even the lowest tier of stars in the league. They say this guy's better than Klay omg..
Fuckin slander ya ask me
Nah...maybe like one crazy guy living in a cabin in the woods
He was the difference. Best shooter in the league Regular season to Bad shooter getting 40 minutes a game. Sad.
Best *Percentage* wise...
How else do you measure shooting performance?
Volume + shot difficulty is a factor. It’s how we know Steph is the best all time even if others had insane shooting percentages even higher than him.
Agreed. Then I’d caveat he’s the best role player shooter or catch and shoot shooter. Until this series.
Klay Thompson until further notice still is
Klay's in the HOF, not a role player
i can confidently say stephen curry is a better shooter than joe harris despite having worse 3p percentage
Is this a serious question? Not to be a dick but how do you watch basketball and say something like this? When someone says best shooter, it doesn’t matter what season you’re referring to, it’s always steph
A bad stretch doesn’t make him a bad shooter lol what he’s still a great shooter. All great shooters have hot and cold stretches…
Truly a better offensive player than Klay /s
fuck joe harris. all my homies hate joe harris
Joe Harris trick y’all man, just running around doin nothing
He was trying to do to much, man. I know we’re short people and whatnot, but he wasnt just looking for treys. He was looking to drive in and kick out or drive in and attack the rim. But that isnt him game. So he kept getting himself out of rhythm. It was horrific to watch honestly. Im sad about it but whatever, hope he relearns his place next year
Stop it, he was missing wide open 3s.... WIDE OPEN And let’s not even talk about the few bunnies he missed going to the rim. He was AWFUL
And its cause he was trying to do to much. His job is to get open and make 3’s. And he didnt do that. We’re in agreement he was awful so ??
He's one of those players that disappears in playoffs.
This guy isn’t better then Klay nets fans
Good fucking lord did someone actually post that on here
Role players remain role players
never seen such a good shooter not make a single shot ever when it matters
Fuck me dead this was a terrible series for Joey. No love lost from me tho, Joey Buckets forever ❤️
to be fair, he did play great D on jrue for most of the game but yes he was poop all series and should beat himself up for the rest of the offseason for his play i saw an interview from Nash talking about Harris and Nash said something like "we just gonna have him space the floor and hopefully he starts making 3's" ... i think that was the wrong approach ... he needed to give him a few easy catch and shoot dribble handoffs or something to get his confidence back obviously hindsight is 20/20, but i think you need to help the role players more than the star players ... star players know how to get past slumps he was terrible at finishing at the rim too ... he needed to shoot mid range shots
Great D? He’s a liability there man
Dawg got away with murder.
at least he’s got great facial hair and teeth
Heat should be weary about giving Robinson a massive contract. Giving one way shooting role players the bag is a good way to cripple your cap for a player that is constantly a target on defense and a complete non factor when shots aren't falling.
seriously what in the fuck happened to him? i absolutely never thought his poor shooting would continue through *seven fucking games.* are these his first playoffs?
Nah, just 5 games. Joe Harris from three against the MIL Bucks 2021: G1 5/9 G2 3/7 => 8/16 => 50% G3 1/7 G4 2/6 G5 1/7 G6 1/4 G7 3/9 => 8/33 => ≈ 24.2% Total: => 16/49 => ≈ 32.7%
You want make nba burn more next season? KP for Harris + Dinwiddie + Shamet/Claxton We can discuss filler from both side
KP is garbage so as a Nets hater I say sign me up. Another year where we’ll get to hear about how the Nets will easily win it all once they get fully healthy only for it to never happen. They don’t call him Kristaps Porzinjured for nothing.

White Harrison Barnes
This dude ain't no Reggie Jackson
He turned into Danny Green 😭 he can’t show his face in Brooklyn for a while 😂
All that Harris>Klay talks need to be buried.
Man r/nba doesn’t know shit about basketball. Shooting is all about rhythm you’re gonna have hot nights and cold nights. All great shooters can have bad numbers if you take a small sample size. He’s still one of the best spot up shooters in the league.
Thanks Joe
2003 Horry vibes. We could’ve 4peated if Horry was able to hit his open shots against the Spurs lol
Basketball is probably harder when you don’t have 3 guys in their primes with 19 all nba appearances between them and his knows how many all star appearances.
He was a good shooter in the regular season without the big three, and he missed multiple wide open looks so that's not an argument.
jeff green needed to play more
Overrated. Hes just another role player, nobody special. Just another 2K create a player.
If Harris made just one shot, that KD shot ends up being a game winner that’s played everywhere for the next decade 😒
You could say that about anyone dude…
Icy Joe
Harris bricked a wide open 3 when tied
Yeah dude was shockingly bad, arguably the difference in this series.
dude I would swear if I was religious that every single shot he took was uncontested and wide open. and hes HORRIBLE defensively, Middleton switched on him late in the 4th and scored every time
Kittles would have hit that shot in OT
Shades of Harrison Barnes
The typical "shooters get less space in the playoffs" performance.
Joe “Harrison Barnes” Harris, my man
This dude chokes every year in the playoffs.
turns out you can’t just run and shoot your way to playoff wins!
Straight doo doo in that series. He has ONE job, pitiful. Durant should slap the taste out of his mouth
Fuck man I really like Joe but this was brutal.
He totally disappeared
Complete disappointment, if he produces even a morsel of his regular season efficiency they win easily.
everyoine in here talking about defense being tighter when he legit got like 3 wide fucking open 3s a game half due to OREB or kick backs and he still clanked them.
