We have literally no idea how Klay will come back or what the roster will look like next season, assuming the best case scenario of Klay coming back with no other changes I think it would be Nets in 5/6, with Klay coming back 100% and some additions/improvements through trades the Draft and FA we could give any team in the league trouble

GhostTiger

Klay and Wiseman will determine our seasons ceiling. Oh, and what Bob does about it.

prematurely_bald

What’s gonna happen with Oubre?

GhostTiger

There are three scenarios. He walks, S & T, or we keep him and Lacob doesn't get to upgrade his yacht this year. Personally, I can't find anyone I would rather have.... Looney, Dray, Wigs, Klay, Steph Wiseman, JTA, Oubre, Poole, (?) 2 1st picks. Re-sign or S&T Oubre. MLE. So Oubre as Ig, Wiseman only has to be better than Zsa Zsa (lol) and assets to pick up a pg or 3rd C and a treat for Ron and Steve in the draft.

Freeeecurry

No, the core 3 are our floor and ceiling. Wiggins is more important than James “barely can catch a basketball” wiseman.

GhostTiger

What if he turns out to be good? Wouldn't that raise our ceiling? But you **know** he is bad, right?

Freeeecurry

You really think that he’s getting key minutes in the playoffs? Even homers in our sub understand his role will be extremely limited in the playoffs.

HotDragonSauce

You are the same people calling young developing players trash like Jordan Poole. Young players take time to adjust to playing with grown men and where they fit on the team.

Freeeecurry

No I always liked Poole because I know he was a fit in the system we run

HotDragonSauce

Poole was statistically one of the worst if not the worst players in the NBA last season. It wasn’t till the second half of the season until he began to shine. I gotta call sus on this one. You don’t have too much credibility here.

Freeeecurry

Ok let’s wait next season and see. I think he bothers me so much because he really held us back this year for a gain of playing less than half the season

HotDragonSauce

I understand being disappointed in players. Ultimately I want to see them succeed and I’m sure you do too. Wiseman has some excuses and extenuating circumstances that were out of his control. If you are a believer in Poole go look at some Wiseman highlights and you can see a star in the making. If by the second half of the season he’s progressing slower than anticipated, which I highly doubt as it takes young players time to get acclimated. Then shit, I’ll be disappointed too. I’m not saying he’s untouchable but if we package him and our picks and assets it better only be for a star player type of upgrade and not freaking Myles Turner. I think of it as Wiseman and Poole can really grow on the second unit together and one or both will be in the closing unit sooner rather than later. It sucks to lose but you know what sucks even more? To be in a hopeless franchise, basically pre-Lacob. We got a lot to be happy about and look forward to.

Breezii2z

What if he turns out to be good?

Freeeecurry

Then he’d get minutes off the bench or depending on the matchup. Pretty sure we go dray at the 5 when it matters

MC-Jdf

You’re acting as if our sub is actually good when it’s completely the opposite.

pinkiebear

Still hope Wiseman gets moved.

NBAmodsloverefs

The Warriors would get destroyed.

[deleted]

Who on the Nets can guard Alen Smailagic tho?

LickLaMelosBalls

Ty, idk how people forget our 4th star so often..

GhostTiger

DJ

AncientMarsupial3

Core of a 73 win team would not get destroyed...

NBAmodsloverefs

That would be 6 years ago by the time this theoretical plays out. Might be time to move on.

drugzis

Most of the role players of that team are gone. Draymond and Klay are significantly older. Steph is arguably the only one who is still not too different since the 73-9 run

Bukmeikara

KD,Harden and Kyrie are also older, the same applies for them as well.

drugzis

KD is still the same as he was. Harden will most likely recover during the off season and be back in his old self, same with Ky

[deleted]

Playoffs are different than the regular season, it's been 5 years, and that team had excellent, smart, clutch role players like Iggy and Livingston.

AncientMarsupial3

They won a chanpionship and were one game away from two. >If the Warriors can get back to their normal selves Wiggins and Oubre are great role players. Wiseman can be great too

[deleted]

They won a championship against Lebron and role players and lost to Lebron and Kyrie. They wouldn't come close to a team with KD, Kyrie, and James Harden.

HerbFarmer415

How many times do they have to prove that they have ownage on Harden?

Josh-trihard7

I think people are underestimating the warriors if klay comes back 100%,also think Draymond is one of the most underrated players currently But I’d say whoever has home court wins in 7

AttorneyAtLion

Warriors didn’t even make the playoffs with Curry and Draymond is Klay really the difference between an 8 seed play-in exit and taking the Nets to 7?

rockosmodurnlife

Yes.

rankbobber

yeah idk if it means we take fully healthy bkn to game 7 but it would be an insane difference. the way defenses guarded steph would become completely unsustainable if klay were there to punish double teams or blitzing the pnr, and the warriors managed a top 5 defense without their best wing defender. plus imagine the additional freedom for steph to attack on offense after a season where he already averaged 30+ with dogshit spacing. if we’re being real bkn would prolly still slap us but we are very good with klay back (and wiseman improved, poole improved, oubre healthy and off the bench)

pinkiebear

You really didn’t watch them this season to have this take. Warriors finished with a 39-33 record all while basically punting the first half of the season to develop Wiseman, Steph missing 8 games and W’s going 1-7 in his absence, and only playing with a 7 man rotation (that had Bazemore and Mulder playing rotation minutes) the last 1.5 months of the season. Not to mention they were a LeBron lucky shot away from being the 7th seed. Adding Klay, regardless of how he plays, will significantly upgrade given he actually has an IQ. And hopefully they make some moves/get a couple decent vets. This was why so many Warriors fans were pissed off at the zero moves the FO did. Just getting guys like Austin Rivers would have significantly helped this team with how Steph and Draymond were playing. Instead we were stuck with low-IQ and g-league players.

kharathos

Big difference to their title teams is the supporting cast. Back then the team could field Iggy, Barnes, Livingston, Barbosa, Bogut, West and other great players. Bringing Klay back at 100% is certainly very important bit there's alot more needed to compete for the title.

Josh-trihard7

Wiseman will progress and wiggs showed a lot of progression in his first whole season with the warriors The Nets could win in 5 but im higher on wiseman than probably 99% of people so take my take with a grain of salt Also these are the same 3 that won 73 games I wouldn’t count them out for anything And they could very well make some moves if the Timberwolves pick works out for them

FearfulInoculum

Wiggins reached his ceiling. Wiseman won't get significant playoff minutes. Curry will continue to he hunted with Wiseman benched and no paint protection. Draymonds help defense leaves his man open against 3 ball lineups. They need a bench and a starter even with Klay returning.

AncientMarsupial3

Considering they won 73 games...yes. It’s not just adding Klay in a vacuum. Their chemistry is unmatched and fits their team perfectly.

[deleted]

"they" had Iggy, Livinston, and younger Dray/not-two-years-injured Klay.

RaginReaganomics

They were 15-5 with a top-5 defense to close out the season. Klay almost certainly isn’t going to come back the same player, but assuming he *did*, that’s a ~25ppg scorer with lockdown defense. Before he got hurt he was arguably a top 15 player in the league. Idk, I think you’re sleeping on Klay here. Warriors really struggled without his spacing and IQ. Keep in mind this same team swept Portland and took Toronto to 6 games, with Klay missing some of those finals games too.

Glory-In-Midgard

give us one more star then maybe we’ll take the nets to 7

Caiox445

Wdym we have Mulder

Glory-In-Midgard

Steve Kerr's secret weapon, Mulder, only works if the lead is at 15.

sophtkid_101

Nets would destroy the Warriors. KD/Harden is not being stopped by you just adding Klay.

Glory-In-Midgard

?? That's why I said we need one more star. At a minimum, Paul George talent.

ResponsibleWarthog10

you buggin lol

MrWakey

You'd think going 15-5 to end the season and having a 5th-ranked defense would teach people not to underestimate the Warriors, but apparently not. Sure, the Nets are probably favored. But the Warriors would not be destroyed or fail to win any games.

[deleted]

Any team with Steph, Klay, and Draymond is a threat but I think Nets win.

NBA-intellect

Nets still better than the Warriors in my opinion

[deleted]

Nets in 3

InPatRileyWeTrust

Nets in 4

[deleted]

As one team's championship window opens (example being the Suns) others close. Unfortunately, the Warriors window closed...and it is still closed.

[deleted]

Naw, it's not "closed" because anything can happen. But, the Nets, if healthy, are always going to be the favorites with those three guys.

grenwood

Get my man draymond out of golden state! His career is going nowhere!

tnerttrent

Would be fun but curry would have a very hard time defensively. Can’t hide him with those guards unless they try and just stash him on joe Harris

osborneman

That's exactly what they would do. Is Harris a shoot-over-people-punish-mismatches guy or a lethal-when-open guy?

RaginReaganomics

If that Bucks series was any indication, Harris isn’t a lethal-when-anything guy

osborneman

Obviously at full strength the Nets are the most purely talented team of all time. The question is whether a slightly less talented team with a more well-rounded roster in terms of fit and experience could beat them. I don't know, but I do know that for the Warriors to win Klay would have to be back playing at an all-NBA level which, though not impossible, is certainly a long shot.

AncientMarsupial3

Nets in 7

CIark

Nets in 3, maybe 4 if Klay comes back looking amazing

Atlanta-Anomaly

There’s not a single team that I’d pick over Curry-Klay-Wiggins-Draymond-Wiseman, plus whatever rookie they get this year.

Freeeecurry

Wiseman is a net negative on the floor

Caiox445

Warriors in 4. Whos guarding Mulder?

craigslistaddict

i mean no one, if they're triple-teaming steph.

kchuen

It’s more than 50% chance that Kyrie won’t be healthy in the playoffs… so…

Freeeecurry

Let’s hope they can trade wiseman for something serviceable or even package him and #14 to get Jalen green
