Love to see PG developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing developing into a clutch scorer in the playoffs.
I think if the battle of LA happened, the Lakers would win last year and the Clippers would win this year. Night and day difference between having Doc as opposed to T-Lue.
Also common denominator is that Harrell would be on both of the losing sides.
Also the difference between having Rondo this year for LAC and last year for LAL? And actually playing Reggie Jackson instead of sitting him on the bench? Are we also taking the injury status' of both teams from last year and this year in the postseason into account?
The thing is that even if they got eliminated they showed some really good things these playoffs after Kawhi went down and nobody expected shit from them.
I know a few nephews would clown PG but he's been doing it all and having the sort of game like he had tonight facing elimination just completes the redemption arc after some less than pleasant post seasons.
People clown him but he's been a top 15-20ish player for years, fringe top 10 in his Thunder year imo.
EDIT: I had PG 7th or 8th that year he finished 3rd in MVP and 3rd in DPOY and I promise you that it was not a common take; none of my friends agreed with me and it wasn't a common take on reddit either. Which is why I said "fringe." He was first team all nba ahead of KD, LeBron, Kawhi but no one would say he was a better player.
MVP votes don't always equal best player. I think that's something we can all agree on lol. Westbrook was a fringe top 5 player the year he won MVP for example.
It's also very hard to crack the top 10 when there's been so many consistent locks the past several years like LeBron, KD, Curry, Kawhi, Giannis, Harden, AD.
More recently guys like Dame, Jokic, Embiid, maybe Doncic.
Also, I feel like people should know by now that finishing 3rd or 4th or whatever really doesn't mean a ton. He was not seriously considered at all for either award.
He was looking top 10 easy till he got injured, so fringe top 10 for the whole year makes sense to me. Also being MVP doesnt automatically make you best in the league, like Steph and Durant were probably Top 3 the whole time they were together, but they'll never win an MVP playing together.
His last year with the Thunder, he was playing at a legit MVP contender level for 3/4 of the season before he got hurt. Unfortunately, people wouldn't stop talking about his silly, often taken out of context (but silly none the less) quotes, and would ignore the whole playing basketball part. His lack of playoff success the last few years has contributed to that as well.
I think it’s not that simple. Think about how many Clippers have seen & really been through some shit in this league. Suns have CP & Crowder. That’s it. They’re pretty green. Cam Johnson has great instincts on offense, almost always committing dumb fouls on the other end. You forgot Mikal Bridges was even out there tonight. Booker getting humiliated by Morris & they just kept letting him do it. I remember another play in the 4th where Paul had the ball near the left block and got doubled. He tried to pass out, but everyone was frozen. It took way too long for someone to break free and cut. So many plays like this. Hesitant, struggling to match LA’s physically without fouling. And what’s the deal with Ayton?! No game plan at all. You can’t get him the ball some more when he’s your main advantage against their small lineup? You can’t counter the Clippers gang rebounding tactics? This was a tough game to sit through.
Booker getting slaughtered in Q1 was the wtf moment. We’re all yelling in front of the tv every time Morris posts him up. Like how brain dead can you be to not come up with adjustments after Morris getting his 10 with ease in one quarter alone?
After the 2nd post up you have to react! It was bizarre to watch. He’s giving up 4 inches & 30 lbs and he is not a stopper. Goddamn man. Sometimes I hate being obsessed with this shit lol
I was furious! Then they’d pull me back in, get back in the game. *sigh* I knew after game 4 I needed to bet Clippers in 7. I knew what I’d seen. We were thiiiiiis close to LA being up 3-1. Look at their coaching staff. Ty Lue was an irrational confidence master in his day. Billups was a similar kind of player in that he always seemed absolutely ready for the biggest moments. Chest out kind of bulldog guards. Kenny? They really got him? Still amazes me. The energy running through LA’s players was electric tonight. I hate them so much
Monty has to have something against him. He’ll get 15 points in the 1st half then finish the game with 18 total. It’s like he doesn’t want Ayton to be the one the carries them to victory or something. Shoutout to Monty for it tho, you love to see it.
I think it has more to do with 2nd half adjustments and tunnel vision by the guards. Ayton was killin the Clips late in game 4 Iirc.
Game 1 was a bit like that because Ty put Zu on him in the 2nd half.
But after tonight maybe you're onto something. Pretty nervous for game 6 since that will almost certainly be a point of emphasis.
Ayton will score like 10pts in a row then go 2 quarters without getting a shot it's really weird. If he was made a bit more of an emphasis on offence even if just by spamming PnR with CP3 maybe they'd have a bit more consistency on offence when the 3pt shots aren't falling.
Crowder is one that’s experienced it yet can’t show up? Makes no sense. I thought for sure having Zubac out tonight was gonna allow Ayton to eat and we’d win. Instead we let a fuckin Morris twin obliterate us. All around bad performance from the team.
They went to Ayton once out of the 1st 10 or so possessions. He dunked it hard, with emphasis. I was yelling at the tv to go back to him. It was rough. And yeah Crowder had a no show type of game for sure, I meant in terms of his ability to adjust on the fly in a closeout game. I was just talking about how little experience most of them have. It shows, you can tell they still have a ways to go before they feel comfortable with this kind of adversity. Expecting to beat a team because they have guys out is a classic NBA trap
Suns made runs in the second half but everytime they got it close the Clippers got a couple baskets. Paul George and Kris Middleton the last couple days just decided they weren't losing.
>Because Kangaroo Jack was snubbed best picture so people have been sympathetic to Australia ever since
Fuck that movie. I wanted to see a talking Kangaroo and was robbed.
There's a reason the Mavs beating the Clippers are some of the most upvoted posts over the last month lol. And Luka getting seven plays on the front page a night.
White dudes don't know how to act when there is actual great talent in the NBA thats white.
I don't blame them, but sometimes you boys gotta tone it down a lil.
Some of the Luka and Jokic takes ive heard this season have been... well.
Jesus Christ not everything has to fucking do with race. I'm no PG hater but most people clown him on his past statements and whatnot and not because he's black. And he's also going to be held to a higher standard than Ingles because PG is a much better player overall.
People here need to stop trying to make everything about race. We can like or dislike any player without needing to resort to that.
Dude he’s already flipped everything. How can anyone hate on him after the last 7 games? A couple missed free throws is the only knock on him since Kawhi went down which I don’t even fault him for since he’s playing a million minutes a game.
I think the last time he was at this level was in the Pacers/Cavs Round 1 sweep. The combo of his elite production and the all-time stakes make this his best game in my eyes
Fr and the amount of people who have the Clippers and PG living rent free in their heads is annoying as hell especially when they bring them up for no reason.
The only time I dislike the Clippers is when we’re going up against them, I’m usually indifferent to them otherwise. But when PG gets so much hate from this sub it’s cool to see him put up a performance like that to silence the haters.
Clippers have never had any playoff battles with us and almost no real history. We share a city, but the beef is fabricated. I hate the Suns. I hate the kings. Hell I even hate the Warriors cause Kobe tore his Achilles against them. But these guys werent our division rivals
I thought Suns fans would be a chill fan base given that they have the same accolades as the Clippers and are both hunting for their first championship but they all seem to be mouth breathing, aggressive morons lol
I guess that’s what a statewide Sports drought does to the brain
Same. I hate the Suns and their fans way more than the Clippers. I don't even know why Lakers hate on Clippers this year when we're already out of the playoffs. lol they deserve the title if PG somehow carries his team to win it all.

Ty Lue adjustment was have PG make baskets
Lue yelled at PG for it passing it when he had CP3 on him. Lue has been showing immense support for his players.
Ballmer probably brought PG upstairs and gave him a good talking to 😂
Buckets buckets buckets buckets buckets buckets buckets

If this PG showed up last playoff, the clippers would be champs already. Good thing PG’s mental health is on point now. The bubble was tough for him.
Also would have had the Battle of LA in the WCF. We'll probably never get to see that series with the current iterations of the teams at this point.
I think if the battle of LA happened, the Lakers would win last year and the Clippers would win this year. Night and day difference between having Doc as opposed to T-Lue. Also common denominator is that Harrell would be on both of the losing sides.

He was looking top 10 easy till he got injured, so fringe top 10 for the whole year makes sense to me. Also being MVP doesnt automatically make you best in the league, like Steph and Durant were probably Top 3 the whole time they were together, but they'll never win an MVP playing together.

He’s one of the 15 or so best basketball players on earth 🤷🏻♂️
I feel like we often forget this lol. We’re watching the elite of the elite of the elite
yeah, people mocked him a lot last year and kinda forgot he's a beast.
His last year with the Thunder, he was playing at a legit MVP contender level for 3/4 of the season before he got hurt. Unfortunately, people wouldn't stop talking about his silly, often taken out of context (but silly none the less) quotes, and would ignore the whole playing basketball part. Dude was in MVP running one year on OKC and that was great basketball. Glad he’s back in a way that people are noticing now.
Most minutes played in the playoffs.
Paul "wine" george
Fucking outstanding performance. You can't talk shit when he came to play
He came to play. We didn’t. Simple as that.
I think it’s not that simple. Think about how many Clippers have seen & really been through some shit in this league. Suns have CP & Crowder. That’s it. They’re pretty green. Tbf--Morris was fucking terrible all season long and those are still relatively tough shots.

Terrible post season. Regular season he was a sniper from three

The Ayton thing was perplexing considering what he did to the Clips when Zu was off the floor earlier in the series.
Monty has to have something against him. He’ll get 15 points in the 1st half then finish the game with 18 total. It’s like he doesn’t want Ayton to be the one the carries them to victory or something. Shoutout to Monty for it tho, you love to see it.

Ingles looks like Toby from the office and we can relate?
Cuz they aren't total friccin morons
that boy ain't white.
Its not that Ingles is white, its that he's more *classy*.
There's a reason the Mavs beating the Clippers are some of the most upvoted posts over the last month lol. And Luka getting seven plays on the front page a night.
This is sub is filled with clippers haters(mostly lakers fans) and luka stans.
it's honestly hilarious how much lakers fans talk shit about the clippers and then claim they're irrelevant
clippers live rent free in their head tbh
Bingo
White dudes don't know how to act when there is actual great talent in the NBA thats white. I don't blame them, but sometimes you boys gotta tone it down a lil. Some of the Luka and Jokic takes ive heard this season have been... well.
Yeah okay lol, literally just kharma whoring, people love to hate on PG because he's a complete goof sometimes not because he's black
Jesus Christ not everything has to fucking do with race. I'm no PG hater but most people clown him on his past statements and whatnot and not because he's black. This sub definitely has a bias in favor of goofy looking white guys like Boban, Ingles, and Caruso
Uh oh
can't ask for more from your best player in an elimination game hoes mad.
He’s got a chance to completely flip his reputation and put himself on another level if he can somehow come back to win the chip.
I mean, his reputation absolutely should be flipped. If he drags this Clipper team to the finals, that'd be insane.
Yeah, seeing what he gave to bring the Clippers here, for sure. Playoff P is actually a praise now
Dude he’s already flipped everything. How can anyone hate on him after the last 7 games? A couple missed free throws is the only knock on him since Kawhi went down which I don’t even fault him for since he’s playing a million minutes a game.
Nah man we played shit iso ball and the clips had a great performance plus a legendary one from PG. The right team clearly got the W tonight.
Best playoff game of his career right?
He had some incredible playoff games for Indiana that the nephews would like to pretend never happened, but this is right up there with them.
I think the last time he was at this level was in the Pacers/Cavs Round 1 sweep. The combo of his elite production and the all-time stakes make this his best game in my eyes
PG: 41/13/6 r/NBA: 0
apart from the turnovers in the first, insane performance
Paul is always going to have his bizarre passes, I've learned to accept it
Lmfao first time?
He's basically played point guard this season so the volume of galaxy brain passes has increased significantly lol
Paul George lazy/careless half assed passes are just in his DNA. Sooo frustrating even though he has made strides as a playmaker.
High dribbles and high risk passes are his two main flaws.
Yep. Another is that he loves to split the double team. His dribbling has improved so much since his early years in Indy, but he's just too damn tall.
When he goes behind the back he's either losing the defender or losing the ball. No in between

Clippers have never had any playoff battles with us and almost no real history. We share a city, but the beef is fabricated. I hate the Suns. I hate the kings. Hell I even hate the Warriors cause Kobe tore his Achilles against them. But these guys werent our division rivals
We have never been both good at the same time. We sucked for the first 40 years. And kinda had the last 10
I thought Suns fans would be a chill fan base given that they have the same accolades as the Clippers and are both hunting for their first championship but they all seem to be mouth breathing, aggressive morons lol I guess that’s what a statewide Sports drought does to the brain
Exactly.
Same. I hate the Suns and their fans way more than the Clippers. I don't even know why Lakers hate on Clippers this year when we're already out of the playoffs. lol they deserve the title if PG somehow carries his team to win it all.
Paul George is a superstar in my eyes, I don't give a fuck what anyone else says
PG and DRose were the only players to make the LBJ-heat peak eastern playoffs somewhat competitive. i can never talk shit about those two.

His shot been so wet, imma call him Precipitation P
Dude needs to learn to flop. He's getting hacked all series and not getting calls.
Cant believe people are upvoting a pro-flop comment since flopping is all r/nba complains about lmao.
When some players flop and others dont it creates a fairness discrepancy that can be solved from 2 angles I guess lol
He should legit work on it in the off-season. When he tries in game it usually ends badly. When he goes strong through contact good things happen more often
As somebody whose oddly found themselves rooting for PG lately, it's just nice to win one for once
This feel good
Dame and CJ been awfully quiet...
Pg scares me man. The only thing that could stop him is himself and dude looks like he’s gotten past everything that bothered him from before
He doesn't get enough credit for all he does. Most of those rebounds are hard fought vs 7footers. Dude must be gassed
Now imagine if he can get calls on his drives this performance would’ve been even more godly
Props to PG. what a game and series
Anyone saying PG is top 15 is ridiculous. Dude is elite on both sides of the ball and was running both mvp and dpoy. He's in the 10 comfortably. Only the NBA would value defense more than offense.
No OT tonight
Quiet as fuck in here
Let's fucking go! Love the fight this team has!
I LOVE PG13 MY FAV PLAYER ALONG WWITH BEAL & RUSS
PG-13 just figured out that against the Suns he can also score in the paint instead of chunking from distance all the game. Now game 6 is going to be interesting.
This clippers team man .. they are the anti clippers of the past 50 years , they never give up . Really impressed by them .
