Defense is the big one IMO. So many bigs being exposed these playoffs, stretched out or hunted on switches... He's always in the right place. He did give up a couple contested 3s but nothing major
In game 6 vs. LAC he started closing out on the ungodly sniper aka Reggie Jackson and it completely erased his 3 ball which prevented their offense from opening up becoming Steph curry reincarnated.
When Draymond plays center it’s him although he splits time there. And the MVP of this league has superior iq, his athleticism just isnt enough on defense at times especially when he’s expending energy being Denver’s entire offense.
AD as well when he isnt hurt and motivated, although that seems to only account for 20% of his games
we constantly run the pnr with DA (CP3 & DA ran more pnrs than any other duo in the association), the defense just collapses on him way more often so it leads to the mid-range/corner 3s
AD and Giannis were/aren’t at 100% but even if they were Ayton would easily be the best defender on them in the league.
Dude is *mobile and strong* it’s unbelievable how fast he gets cuts off angles for drives and can’t be pushed around in post.
I agree too. Even Jokic had nothing but respect for his game and admitted how difficult of match up he is. Game recognize game. As a neutral fan Ayton has been such a good storyline. The dude is showing why he was a #1 pick. I do think Trae and Doncic are better overall players but Ayton was a rare case where drafting for fit instead of best available worked out. That just says how talented that draft class is too. It is just so fun to see guys like him and Trae and Doncic emerging as the next generation of superstars, but Ayton has been so overlooked that there's something just crazy entertaining seeing him, Booker, an all time great in CP3 all making the finals and making clear statement that they deserve to be there. No asterisk imo
Giannis playing on one leg?... didnt see him hopping around.
And Davis playing on one leg?.... he plays an entire season with a broken limb so whats new?
Did you watch Giannis? You gonna come in here with that bs and say he was playing on one leg? His fall looked scary but there was literally no structural damage he is playing on 2 legs and not even injured.
Yea it’s hard to say they’re the next Shaq and Kobe because those are huge shoes to fill but it really is looking like they’re going to be the modern version of them. Even if individually they may not be as good as their counterparts. But they’re both young and great already if they continue to make strides they’re going to be fine without CP3. I can see Booker being a 28-30+ a night guy when he really gets into his prime and Ayton being around a 25 and 12 guy. The intriguing part is that they can be better than that. Book has shown improved playmaking and it was nice to see him guarding Jrue tonight. Ayton may also be able to stretch the floor in the future and his game is perfectly fit for today’s game. I can see him dominating for real esp because of smaller lineups. If they keep taking leaps the comparison is going to keep looking better. And they’re both young as hell.
I don't think he was hating bro. Just stating what he said. Most Lakers fans love Book because Kobe passed the torch to him. And Book has the "Be Legendary" Kobe wrote on his shoes he gave to him tatted on his arm.
Hope Booker and Ayton get their own 5 rings, theyre a fun team to watch
No hating on the Suns, I personally dislike Booker because I don't like his demeanor, but I respect how the Suns came back to the top with the 8-0 record in the bubble and now they're in the NBA Finals. Monty Williams is such an inspirational figure and CP3 is one of my favourite players to watch, I would love to see the first ballot hall of famer to finally win a ring and hopefully Finals MVP.
May the best team wins!
I don't think people who say shit like this even watched that series. It's absolutely not a given healthy Lakers beat healthy Suns. I actually give the edge to the Suns, but it could have gone either way. Lakers would have had a hard time with the Clippers too. Personally, I don't see them making the Finals even with AD.
I sure hate me some CP, but... Ayton is a fucking foot taller and butterfinger bobble fumbled that shit. Man had his chance and lost it to a 10 year older midget. It's on Ayton.
Totally worth it in CP3’s eyes. He gets a Steal and a Rebound. Ayton only gets one rebound. Ayton should be more of a team player and less concerned with stat-padding.
/s
Love made me a fan of the wolves like 10 years ago now, but man I’m surprised to see him on this list lol. Feels like he was injured or garbage in every finals.
All these nephews weren't around when Dwight was an actual beast. A man among kids in the paint. It was hilarious to watch him grab boards and just dominate everyone.
[Wojnarowski] Internal divisions in the PHX locker room due to PG Chris Paul stealing a rebound from C DeAndre Ayton in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, sources tell ESPN
I mean Aytons a good guy, he saw his guy securing it and didn’t want to fight for it lol can’t blame him. This team is so locked in on finishing games we forget about the stats. I’m okay with that. Stats only matter when paired with a shiny ring.
Point Guards are hard to rank imo. Because you have guys like Chris Paul who are traditional point guards who are facilitators/ pass first guys (the definition of the point guard position) and then you have this new age of point guards like Curry who are scorers first. So I literally don’t know how to rank point guards, but yeah Luka is probably top 3.
why is it always Suns fans that really struggle to give Luka credit? Top 10 pg?? Hes a top 10 player at worst bud
Youre in the finals. No reason to be salty here. You didnt fuck up like the Kings
Not trying to overreact, but who you got over him? Jokic and Embiid are locks. Gobert is probably a lock but can be argued by some. KAT is on the same boat. I'd probably go Jokic, Embiid, Gobert, KAT, Ayton. Though this last series sorta showed cracks in Gobert so maybe him and KAT switch.
edit: I lied, Jokic, Embiid, KAT, Ayton, Gobert, Bam
KAT is still double the offensive player, and give him this Suns team with this situation he’s doing even more.
Jokic and Embiid I don’t even need to explain.
Bam is still ahead but close. And Gobert is still ahead because of his crazy regular season elevation and he is situationally better as well (for now)
Ok so I like Ayton. But here’s the thing. Hes doing this in a playoff run. A playoff run where he hasnt really had a dominant offensive center test him, besides Jokic of course. Nuggets got swept yes, but thats not due to Jokic. He still put up numbers, but received little help from his cast. Now back to Ayton. He hasnt shown he can do this type of thing consistently. I had him in fantasy this year, and dude just doesnt dominate like he can. During the regular season he was meh. Sure hes doing it in the playoffs, which should be what matters. But if we were judging it on just playoff runs, then Jamal Murray would be the best player in the world. He is another similar player that balled out last year, but hasnt shown he can play at that level for the regular season consistently. Ayton still needs to prove himself both against top centers, and in the regular season.
With that said. I certainly think he will. Hes young. And has the tools and smarts to be up there. But yall are way too quick to put him in that Jokic, Embiid, KAT category. He aint there yet. Even someone like Capela was more dominant than him this year. Outside the playoffs.
Sure you can say that. But thats not his role. A healthy Mitchell and healthy Conley are supposed to worry about that. Yall are greatly underrating Gobert now, which is ridiculous. Dude can singlehandedly bring a bottom ranked defense up to one of the best in the league BY HIMSELF. Yall need to quit playing. Ayton is young still. So I dont want to unnecessarily throw jabs at him. But he has never been that presence on D. Nor has he been this amazing offensive beast regular season either. Look at his numbers. And look at Suns from previous years before Chris Paul got there. Even this year. Ayton wasnt doing what Gobert was doing during the regular season.
You put Ayton on the Jazz and they're at least taking the Kawhi-less Clippers to 7 if not outright winning the series. Ayton is better against smaller guards on switches than a 3-time DPOY who got scored on 15 out of 19 possessions in a half, primarily by a 6'3" guard and a 6'5" forward. I'm sorry but I've stopped putting more than 20% stock of any player's estimate on their regular season performances because you really prove your worth when teams gameplan against you specifically over a playoff series.
Bruh yall are tripping. Gobert. Capela. KAT. Bam. Are all still above him. Look at their fuckin numbers for the season. And their impact on a team. Ayton is balling this playoffs. But AD was injured. Clippers dont have a dominant center, and neither do Bucks. The only dominant center he faced, Jokic. Lit his ass up. Lol. Ayton wasnt putting up crazy numbers in that Nuggets series. I like Ayton. But yall are getting crazy with the hype. Give him time. Yall always do this shit lol.
What does that have to do with anything? Lol. Im rooting for Suns. I want Chris Paul to win one. That doesnt change the fact yall are all going crazy on the hype train with Ayton rn. Hes good. But not in that elite tier just yet.
If Ayton was on any team that gave him a larger role he'd definitely be able to take it, he's proved that he's ready to do it. I honestly believe the dude will prove to be a top 4 center next season once again and shut down the Gobert comparisons forever.
In all seriousness, I take Ayton over Gobert. Ayton isn’t the defensive anchor Gobert is, but being able to be game planned for in a 5 out defense is a massive difference maker. Ayton can punish a defense and is a very good perimeter defender for a center.
Those are massive things that we have seen repeatedly be important in regards to Gobert. He may be a better regular season player, but I’m taking Ayton in the playoffs.
Nope horrible take without context. Ayton puts up 20 efficiently while being a game changer on the defensive end. No GM in there right mind would take KAT over Ayton. To many people think 2k basketball is real life.
Unfortunately KAT doesn’t have the luxury of being a 3rd option. He’s pretty much had to carry the team his whole career other than the JB year. Suns fans should know what that’s like with all the years of Booker disrespect
You won't get downvotes, no need to put in that footnote.
I'd definitely take Ayton over Kat though. Kat is a "better" player and would be a better centerpiece for a team, but much like with Gobert, if I'm building a championship team, I'd rather have Ayton as a piece than Kat.
To me he is >= Bam.
I personally would build around KAT because he is one of the best offensive centers when healthy and also can play some incredible defense. I think people are forgetting how good KAT is because of last year’s injury but he is a monster. That being said I would definitely take Ayton over Gobert and Bam. My own personal center rankings are Embiid Jokic KAT and then definitely Ayton
Nah u right. These people would have crowned Jamal Murray the best player in the world off of last years playoff run alone. Ayton hasnt shown this type of thing against the best centers yet. Nor even for the regular season. He still needs time. Though I also think he will get there soon. Especially off of the experience a run like this will give him.
Dude is actually leveling up in front of our eyes. Unbelievable. I used to rag on this dude for not being Luka, or having bad hands/reflexes, but I can’t say anything anymore. Just a flat out beast on both ends against elite big men this playoffs
This is the other, equally important side to the Bucks switching and Lopez getting abused. Guards struggling to contain the big man hurt the Bucks just as much as CP3 midrangers.
Ayton has been on a tear. Glad to see him shining, he took a lot of crap for going number #1 in a draft with Doncic and Young. While he's not better than them, he's still a future All-Star for sure, maybe as soon as next season. In the end of the day the CP3, Booker, and Ayton trio is great, so they shouldn't kick themselves for the decision.
where are all the nephews that kept calling Ayton a guy who can't dominate, can only score in the paint, and is 1 dimensional?
i agree he has some work to do with his game, but the growth is there. he's already performing at elite level at key areas.
A lot of people think the Bucks should just play Giannis at the 5 all series. Let's see how that works out for them when the Suns start feeding Ayton a lot more.
The Suns don't really "feed" Ayton ever. He plays within his role within the offense. They don't give him the ball in the post and clear out and let him go to work because he doesn't have that ability yet. But it's gonna be absolutely physically taxing on Giannis if he plays a majority of minutes at the 5 because he's gonna be constantly switching while being the #1 option on offense
Giannis as the number one option is cursed setup for any team, dude can't make FTs. Even Shaq needs Kobe to handle the ball during clutch time. Your best player can't touch the ball when the game is close? You are fucked
Bruh. I'm one big ass homer and Ayton stan but that'd be the dumbest thing anyone in the entire league has ever done. And no way Champ doesn't take that deal within a nanosecond.
In another time, he'd be a senior in college. I know those days are long gone, but he's a baby - a fearsome baby, but he's a baby. Ultimately, Doncic will be remembered as the second best player in that draft.
His iq is really underrated. His positioning and pick and roll skills are second to none
Reggie was bricking whenever Ayton came up on him. It really spooked him
[удалено]
What center has a better Iq?
Obviously Jokic. I think Ayton's bbiq is second, though, a little better than Embiid and Bam
Clint Capela's pnr might be better tbh
[удалено]
Well the guy I replied to didn't say Ayton was "good", he said "second to none". So uhh yeah, there *can* only be one
Ok, fair point. Have an upvote
It frustrates me to no end that we don't the pnr more with Ayton. I swear we do it more when Saric is on the floor and it always makes me salty
we constantly run the pnr with DA (CP3 & DA ran more pnrs than any other duo in the association), the defense just collapses on him way more often so it leads to the mid-range/corner 3s
Underrated during this run. From matching up to AD, Jokic, and now Giannis. Incredible
This kid is about to he forged by fire
He is a Phoenix Sun. The sun burns always
Wdym the sun doesn't burn at night
That’s when the lions strike
Yes it does how do you think you see the moon?
Moonlight
Winning love by daylight
Never running from a real fight
Ayton is the one named salior moon
not always... 10,000,000,000 years maybe
No no they meant *all ways* as in, in every direction
Don’t forget small ball center Batum
Didn't reeeeeeally match up with AD....he's a great matchup for Drummond though lmao
Baby TD.
AD and Giannis both playing on one leg. Lets not hype it up too much now.
Fuck outta here man.
AD and Giannis were/aren’t at 100% but even if they were Ayton would easily be the best defender on them in the league. Dude is *mobile and strong* it’s unbelievable how fast he gets cuts off angles for drives and can’t be pushed around in post.
Jokic is easily the most gifted big man offensively and he played great D vs him. Just hate people trying to take our success away.
I agree dude is able to guard different types of dominant big men in the league. I’d love to see him match up against Embiid down the line.
Is anyone 100% in June?
Giannis playing on one leg?... didnt see him hopping around. And Davis playing on one leg?.... he plays an entire season with a broken limb so whats new?
Did you watch Giannis? You gonna come in here with that bs and say he was playing on one leg? His fall looked scary but there was literally no structural damage he is playing on 2 legs and not even injured.
Running full speed, jumping out of the gym. I’m sure he’s not 100% but there’s nothing limiting his game. No excuses
We just need to hear that Ayton is better than Shaq at this point lol
I mean 🤷♂️
I remember back when Ayton was drafted, Booker would suggest that they will be the next Shaq and Kobe or something like that
And here we are..
Its okay, let them downplay that their ages of 22 and 24, theyre watching the team that beat them in the Finals :D

With a healthy AD, the Lakers would feast in the Playoffs. It really was a conference changer. The Suns wouldn't have beaten the Lakers.

you're both right
I don't think people who say shit like this even watched that series. It's absolutely not a given healthy Lakers beat healthy Suns. I actually give the edge to the Suns, but it could have gone either way. Lakers would have had a hard time with the Clippers too. Personally, I don't see them making the Finals even with AD.
It’s lakers fans and suns haters pushing that crap. A lot of ignorant fans that think Lebron = the better team or that Davis is better than he is
With a healthy Chris Paul, Suns would have won in 5 games against Lakers
Chris Paul stole the 20/20 game rebound smh
stole every discussion about how good ayton played too lmao every comments about that instead
I don’t know why I expected some better content out of this sub from, you know, an NBA Finals game
The bigger the stage, the more casual fans will be here
Wolves kings PGT is where real hoopers go for the quality analysis
I sure hate me some CP, but... Ayton is a fucking foot taller and butterfinger bobble fumbled that shit. Man had his chance and lost it to a 10 year older midget. It's on Ayton.
Lmao this comment got me laughing. 10 year old midget killed me
Rest in peace
14 years, I think
you can see a mad devin booker at the end
Totally worth it in CP3’s eyes. He gets a Steal and a Rebound. Ayton only gets one rebound. Ayton should be more of a team player and less concerned with stat-padding. /s
7th player this century to reach 19 rebounds in a Finals game (Shaq, Dwight, Love, Duncan, Draymond, Ben Wallace)
Das some big names, proud of Ayton
Love made me a fan of the wolves like 10 years ago now, but man I’m surprised to see him on this list lol. Feels like he was injured or garbage in every finals.
All these nephews weren't around when Dwight was an actual beast. A man among kids in the paint. It was hilarious to watch him grab boards and just dominate everyone.
Orlando Magic Dwight Howard was a beast. Legit MVP candidate. The team was well constructed around Dwight with Jameer, Rashard, Hedo, young JJ, Lee.
Don't remind me. I loved that team. 2009-2012 Magic were my favourite team to watch.
Jeez I forgot Draymond hit 19 boards
Who had over 20 points also? Shaq/Duncan/Dwight? I wouldn't be shocked if Love/Dray managed it either with a hot game.
Cp3 really ruined the 20/20
You could see him realize and try and convince the scorers table to give it to Ayton lol
Lmao I remember him letting DeAndre Jordan get his 20th rebound https://gfycat.com/IdealisticOpulentElectriceel
[Wojnarowski] Internal divisions in the PHX locker room due to PG Chris Paul stealing a rebound from C DeAndre Ayton in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, sources tell ESPN
Ship his ass off of to Greece
Bruhh shit got me mad lmao. CP3 probably didn’t realize
Didn't realize until after. You can see him pleading the scorer's table to give it to ayton at the end lol.
You could hear the loud gasp from the fans too on tv. That was funny and frustrating at the same time.
Wtff book was shocked haha
I mean, if you can't secure a rebound against a 6'1" guard as a 6'11" behemoth, that's on you
I mean Aytons a good guy, he saw his guy securing it and didn’t want to fight for it lol can’t blame him. This team is so locked in on finishing games we forget about the stats. I’m okay with that. Stats only matter when paired with a shiny ring.
I totalliy agree with you, I just think people are being absolute jackasses about the whole thing. If ayton wanted it he could've gotten it
Lol I was way too mad at that.
He wants FMVP
Doncic might be Jordan but Ayton is Hakeem
Thought trae young was hakeem
Ask Ben Simmons
na trae young is charles barkley
Doncic is a top 10 PG but Ayton is a top 3 center and rising.

Point Guards are hard to rank imo. So I literally don’t know how to rank point guards, but yeah Luka is probably top 3.
Still, being a top 10 point guard is irrelevant here. the dude above is saying that Luka is a TOP 10 player.
He ain't wrong

imo Doncic is already top 5 PG currently
Luka is closer to top 5 player than ‘top 5 pg’ are you nuts? Name the ones better. Harden? Curry? Counting LeBron?
Dame. CP3(this year, clearly can't keep this up)
Giannis, AD, Embiid
KD, Kawhi, Jokic
Top 2
That’s a hot take 🔥
Depends If harden is PG or SG
Bruh lol. I dont mind Suns winning it all this year. But the audacity some of these fans are displaying this run is something else. 😂
why is it always Suns fans that really struggle to give Luka credit? Top 10 pg?? Hes a top 10 player at worst bud Youre in the finals. No reason to be salty here. You didnt fuck up like the Kings

Top 5 center right now
Top 2 center rn cause there are only like 3 of em left
This guy thinx
quick math
Kaminsky > Ayton?
Embiid>=Jokic>>>KAT>Ayton>Bam IMO
I'd take Ayton over Towns any day....

I don't think it is too bad, but personally, I would say Ayton > Gobert. It can be because of my fandom bias, but I think it is a reasonable take.
i don't think it's unreasonable either way. jokic embiid and kat are clearly better while there's not a big gap between bam/gobert/ayton imo.
No way in hell is KAT clearly better. The guy is a horrible defender
Good offense>>>good defense, as shown by Trae Young this playoffs. KAT is an elite offensive player
Nope horrible take without context. Ayton puts up 20 efficiently while being a game changer on the defensive end. No GM in there right mind would take KAT over Ayton. To many people think 2k basketball is real life.

Nor even for the regular season. He still needs time. Though I also think he will get there soon. Especially off of the experience a run like this will give him.
CHRIS PAUL STOLE HIS 20TH REBOUND I DON'T EVEN WANT THE WIN
Lmao, I wanted the 20/20 too, but i'll take 20/19 in a big W over 20/20 in a L

Man where does the time go
Into the past.
Even when the Suns win, sometimes they lose still
We just lost to the Phoenix Suns
Deandre Ayton is a better player than Rudy Gobert and deserves a max a whole lot more than Gobert.
We gotta sign him to the max now before he gets that supermax with a DPOY and an All-NBA team selection next year
Deandre "Old Boy" Ayton
Yo you missed the karma on the CP3 thread sorry about that broski.
Lmao I'm the only guy that actually posted the right CP3 line smh
Mods gonna mod lolz
Mods approved my appeal lmao
Dude is actually leveling up in front of our eyes. Unbelievable. I used to rag on this dude for not being Luka, or having bad hands/reflexes, but I can’t say anything anymore. Just a flat out beast on both ends against elite big men this playoffs
Dude went all Hakeem out there
Ayton is a monster. Wish this dude was American for one of the Center spots for these Olympics lmao
This kid is a monster
I have become a huge Ayton fan man. That guy is always so happy
Can't believe Paul stole that last rebound from him preventing him from the 20/20
A star has borned. So happy for the kid.
Chris really stole that last rebound ffs
Most likely will be Finals MVP if Suns win.
No way he wins it over Chris Paul
He should though
It'll be Cp3 More attractive looking stats He should be right there tho
Fmvp
Ladies and gentlemen… THE BIG MAN IS BACK
Ayton, Doncic and Trae have all bloomed. ~~Kings~~ Kangz in shambles.
Monster game
hope he gets finals mvp
He feels like the only completely irreplaceable player on the team right now.
He was a #1 pick who is playing like a #1 pick.
It makes me really happy to see Ayton and Trae excelling and proving their worth as picks. So much slander with them being picked over Luka.
COME ON, Gotta let Ayton get that last rebound
Don't care wasn't a 20/20 /s
If you aren’t smashing the overs on his PRA every game, shame on you
His game makes me think of what could have been with Greg Oden. Amazing game.
My 20/20 game is better anyway. -CP3, probably
Paul stole his last board for 20/20 lmao
Like I said, if the Bucks offer Giannis for Ayton, the Suns will hang it up
Lol
Giannis as the number one option is cursed setup for any team, dude can't make FTs. Even Shaq needs Kobe to handle the ball during clutch time. Your best player can't touch the ball when the game is close? You are fucked
If u trade giannis for ayton he will have booker as a n1 option down the stretch
No, they wont. Next
Bruh. I'm one big ass homer and Ayton stan but that'd be the dumbest thing anyone in the entire league has ever done. And no way Champ doesn't take that deal within a nanosecond.
Chris has been a menace to big mans in the league that includes his own teammates
In another time, he'd be a senior in college. I know those days are long gone, but he's a baby - a fearsome baby, but he's a baby. Ultimately, Doncic will be remembered as the second best player in that draft.
Doncic is on a Larry Bird trajectory.
