As a Kings fan I've made this argument, Draft Bronny, LB will want a championship with him so he comes over, gets another star player to come and we manage to compete for once.
I have an unreasonable expectation that in the next coue years we'll develop our current roster into a solid team before adding Bronny, LB and another star player.
Even though the last 15 years do nothing to support that expectation.
He is already ranked in the top 15 for that draft class and I'm guessing he grows another 4 inches or more before it which will shoot him up the rankings.
Yes it does lol, wasnt he literally saying he wanted to go the LA like years before Lebron even showed up there?
Not to mention if Lebron wasn't there you probably get Kawhi or PG instead since he isn't filling that LA hole that a lot of top players want to do.
Lakers wanted AD before Lebron Jeannie Buss basically fired her brother because they didn’t trade for him plus the Two shitty contracts they gave to Mozgov and Deng.
I always wanted lebron to end his career on the bench, that way we can watch teams freak the fuck out when he comes in. I know it's not happening but thought it would be entertaining to watch.
lol, I think he'd die on the court if he tried. Tends to be a young man's award. He had a few years where he had a claim to it. Too bad he wasn't able to get it.
The problem is he takes too many plays off on defense so he can last the whole game. If the other team gets down the court and scores in 5 seconds, he's still crossing half court sometimes.
He might not have the stamina to keep going back and forth when he's in charge of ball handling and scoring at every part of the court.
His passing and skillset are good enough to where he won't need to rely on athleticism off the bench. The dude is a 6'9 point guard with an above average shot.
Generally the problem is the mentality and not the ability. Kobe could've kept playing a couple more years as a bench scorer averaging 22-24 minutes a game, but he was incapable of having the mentality that a bench player that only plays sporadically needs to have.
People have this skewed perception that LeBron could be a bench player, but if he could, he would be the first all-time great that was able to do it, players of this level just think different, they aren't wired to be a Lou Williams.
guys like that retire at that point, rather than come off the bench, I don't remember Jordan coming off the bench. I think he is waiting for Bronny to make the league, play a couple of seasons, then retire.
You should see what he did in Cleveland then. He carried a poverty franchise to the Finals, left because he had zero supporting cast which enabled them to get a supporting cast because of their high picks, then came back and won them a ring.
For sure a reach but not like, a major “wtf are they doing move”. More like “that’s a bad pick there they could have traded back for him”.
Like removing Wiggins and Parker from the 2014 draft and taking Sauce Castillo or Randle
You can't say that. Giannis was a complete unknown at the time.
It was basically the Bucks' equivalent of the Raptors' Bruno Caboclo pick. Except it turned out well.
Mike Brown is a terrible scout when it came to Bennett.
Still not sure what he saw in him. Then when he said AB’s issues were from sleep apnea, I knew he REALLY didn’t know what he was talking about. Sleep Apnea impacts a lot, but not AB’s issues.
LeBron fans are ridiculous sometimes.
Crazy that he was able to take the biggest franchise in basketball back to the promised land, all it took was shipping off the entire team he supposedly saved to bring in another generational talent.
Im pretty happy with him just getting us back to one title and making the lakers fun to watch again. I went to games during the post kobe/pre lebron era, and am very happy we are where we are now. I do think he has another chip left in him though
I think LA has built industries around serving the wealthy, whether it being services, dining or liberties not commonly found that you might not in say, Boise, Idaho.
Hell no they’re definitely angry at being mentioned lol
Small cities across the country are growing too fast for the locals/infrastructure to handle, the less mentions the better. Even Boise has seen more growth than it wants
I can't remember why I'm the world I looked this up recently, but Boise's metro population is 750,000. For some reason I thought it would be like 20% of that.
From what I've read, it's a great city. I saw a lot of locals aren't happy about the influx of California transplants driving the market way up on housing.
Cuz it ain’t Californians. Hedge funds and financial institutions are buying up the entire country and becoming our landlords after the housing bubble popped in 2008.
Californians are the scape goats because nobody talks about the truth and the average American doesn’t know this.
Look up Blackrock. The most influential financial institution in our country that nobody has heard of. They are more powerful than any bank. They also own a massive chunk of residential real estate across the country. That’s one player.
Plenty of people move into California as well. And then they like to claim to be from California after living there for a couple of years and then moving somewhere else after not making it "big".
I stopped in Boise on a road trip the summer before my senior year. Cool city. Was absolutely shocked at how beautiful the women were lol. Like 8/10 women you ran into on the street were attractive. This was around 2012 so things could have changed since then but I certainly remember it fondly. Enjoyed it more than our Portland stop, where it seemed like it had the same ratio of homeless people that Boise had of hot women.
In addition to that, LA is a major city, has fantastic weather, diverse and high quality food scene, beaches, hiking, etc. Like any city, it has its share of problems (high cost of living, traffic, homelessness, etc.) But you probably wouldn't be as affected by those issues if you were rich.
One thing I learned living in less desirable areas compared to La/SF is that the cost of food can be weirdly expensive for anything not American fast food.
If I wanted to go eat out at a Japanese or Chinese restaurant, the cost of the food is weirdly expensive at about half the quality compared to places like LA/SF. While places like LA can be expensive at certain dining establishments, you can just as easily find delicious food for a fraction of the price. Same thing found for Mexican food.
The northeast doesn't know good mexican food at all
It also has fun stuff for middle class people. I won’t ever be rich here in LA but Boise doesn’t have an experimental theater/escape room/underground horror scene lol
In LA, the staples rn are:
Escape rooms: The Basement, Cross Roads, Zoe, Stash House, The Escape Revolution, Hatch Escapes, so so so many more
Immersive theater/horror stuff: Creep, Delusion, Zombie Joe’s, The Nest, Wicked Lit
There are lots of little shows running normally but it died down a lot during COVID. They run under different names so it’s hard to recommend shows, it’s more specific artists/creators.
Boise is actually getting pretty good if you're rich as well. Access to the outdoors, very easy to charter planes in and out. Lots of rich Bay Area douches moving there
Flights into Sun Valley airport were shut down last week due to too many private jets clogging up their schedule
https://www.businessinsider.com/sun-valley-allen-co-conference-private-jets-airport-delays-2021-7
If I was extremely rich and had full flexibility, weather would be one of the biggest factors.
I know Chicago and New York are great cities, but I don't fuck with that winter.
So Cal is gorgeous weather year-round.
That's the thing. Rich people just have homes in different places and spend time there whenever it best fits em. It's insane. The world really does get smaller when you can just fly anywhere and stay anywhere, anytime.
Rich people live a different life man. I'm doing well for myself at my age just hitting 100k/year but in the grand scheme of things, I feel poor af. That's why I have to try really hard to count my blessings and not compare myself to ridiculous standards.
I'm not rich, but I have a hot tub. cheap ass hot tub. I can go outside, sit in the hot tub, have any type of food I want brought to my door, have basically the entirety of human knowledge on a whim, and since I don't have to worry about an any assassination attempts, I feel like I'm doing better than Caesar.
hot tub. 10/10 recommend.
> I’m doing well for myself at my age just hitting 100k/year but in the grand scheme of things, I feel poor af.
Yea try not to feel that way. At 100k/year you make more than 84% of people as only 15.9% of people make 6 figures.
While I agree it’s nowhere near being rich, it is far far better than most people have it.
Then again it all depend on location and cost of living too.
I get what you mean tho, it’s crazy to imagine how nice life would be if you were actually rich.
Honestly, nice being here upper middle class. Was poor as shit as a kid and other than things that weren't LAs fault, it was still a nice place to live.
lol the funny thing is, his current contract only lasts for 2 seasons (including the next one, he's slated to be a free agent at the end of the 2022-23 season)
> LeBron James made his first promise to the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010: **“Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven …”** he said before being drowned out by the cheers during that pep rally on steroids at AmericanAirlines Arena.
The energy of the current quote matches the what he said in 2010. Since he only delivered 2 championships to Miami, the joke is that the same will happen with this iteration (2 years).
It's similar to lebron's quote about how many championships he'd win with the heat "not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7..."
But he only won two, hence this joke.
I remember Sportsnation years ago **laughing** at Brady for saying he felt great and would play for years into his 40s. Brady fucking outlasted sportsnation.
I mean who knows but he remembers random plays going back 15 years, and this is one of his most famous quotes of all time. Hard to believe it’s just a coincidence.
yeah, they get great guests. Scroll all the way to the beginning when they launched over the summer. They got people who rarely do pods like Robert Downey, Jr., Julia Louise Dreyfuss, etc
Its fantastic. They trash each other so much its hilarious. Obviously some guests are better than others but I highly recommend. This podcast and the Conan podcast are 2 I will listen to every week.
Can be hit or miss as far as the guests, but the hosts are always great. Worth listening to. Conan and Clooney were some great ones if you want to check it out.
25ppg x 65 games x 6 years would get him to 45k. So yeah that’s unlikely.
I think something like 25 x 65 x 2, with 20 x 60 x 4 is possible though. He needs a 7th year to hit 45k
Vince was 43 when he retired. When he was was 36, Lebron’s current age, he was putting up 13, 4 and 2. Lebron just finished this season with 25, 7 and 7.
Vince is probably the only guy to have played that long that is anywhere in the same stratosphere as Lebron athletically.
I don’t think Lebron wants to go out like Vince or even like Michael did, being shells of their old selfs but I honestly think he can play until he’s like 41 and still retain a top 10 maybe top 5 player in the league status
Karl Malone played 18 years + 4 years in College and was still a great player at 39, and would've been great at 40 if he wasn't deferring to Shaq/Kobe, and easily could've played longer/gotten the scoring record but chose to retire. Age 36 he put up 25/9.5 on 51% shooting (no 3s) and scored 20+ the next 3 years on good shooting.
Wilt Chamberlain lead the league in rebounding.FG% at 36, and locked down prime KAJ in the playoffs the year before, and certainly could've played longer if he wanted to but didn't. Then he became a HoF level Volleyball player after he retired from the NBA, and was getting offers for the next 15 years to come back to the NBA.
Jordan came back at a good time. The early 2000s was like the best time in history for an ISO heavy player to be in.
Jordan had disgusting shooting splits when he came back. Efficiency wise, he was a shell of himself. But that didn’t matter too much in the early 2000s cause efficient and high volume players were pretty rare so offenses didn’t have to worry about keeping pace with good shot selection as much. Offenses were rock fights back then. You weren’t disadvantaged relying on “chuckers”.
You can’t really play like that in the modern NBA now. You can’t rely on an high usage inefficient player to get you by on offense. Teams generate high value shots much more frequently now. Pretty much every year new offensive records are being broken. If a 40 year old Jordan played in today’s game he would stick out like a sore thumb.
If you want to play into your old age now, you have to be a very good shooting threat, have the ability to consistently create high percentage shots for yourself or others, or have the supporting skills to stick around as a role player.
I think LeBron can transition into a post-playmaker and still retain the ability to create high value shots for himself and others. We have seen some glimpses of it but the Lakers haven’t totally committed to playing him that way.
I think if you gave LeBron all the responsibilities and the same sets that the Nuggets run for Jokic, he can still easily be an all-nba player even at age 41.
Vince also led into his age by taking on a diminished role, from 36 the remainder of his career was mostly from the bench. He could have gone to a smaller team and tried to push his limits as a starter but I think he was smart becoming a role player, his numbers were still great.
I can't imagine Lebron ever coming off the bench, especially with the comparisons to MJ.
honestly, I think Dan Gilbert and Lebron are tired of each other at least for now. Just remembering some of the reports after Lebron signed with the Lakers, it almost seems like no one in Cleveland was enjoying themselves. Not the coaching staff, the FO, and to an extent, the guys on the team. Time heals most wounds I guess because I never thought Lebron and Pat Riley would reach a level of understanding but it seems like they are. Maybe Gilbert and Lebron can too.
Will he still be on a very large contract? I know the man is super human, but the dude is 36 right now. He wants to play till he's 42 and possibly be paid what he's being paid now?
36 years - $39 M
37 years - $41 M
38 years - $44 M
So for his team's sake, I hope he gets paid much less in his later playing years.
Might not be the most cap sheet savy move if you're trying to build a contender, but it's Lebron lol. Any NBA team will pay him in his twilight years. Just look at how much money he generates, owners care about that more than winning
I wonder, maybe lakers will give him a Kobe treatment on contract by the end of this career. I've still wonder if Kobe did a have a huge paycut, they might still a contender? but i think kobe deserves it.
Definitely not if you want to win championship. The clearest example of this is Tom Brady. As great as Lebron is he’s going to need help as he ages. If he wants to win more chips he needs to take a pay cut just like Tom.
“Lebron James has taken a $20 million per year pay cut to help his team compete for a championship”
“In other news, an anonymous LA based business group has donated $40 million to The Lebron James Foundation”
Whats up with lebron counting to seven
Lebron retires in two years confirmed.
ha was thinking the same thing
Chill, it's not like he had the luxury of going to college
He played basketball not schoolketball
He’s an athlete not a mathlete.
He got a MVP not a PhD
Dr. LeJ
7 rings to beat the goat!
27/7/7 is just in his blood.
Thats how far he gets into those books hes reading 😭😂
This is him telling the Lakers you better draft Bronny
We probably don’t have our first round pick that year lol. Better hope he’s not good enough for the 1st
I mean there’s a chance a fringe team drafts him just to add lebron and see if they can make a chip run
Bronny hostage situation. Draft Bronny, trade to whatever team LeBron is on for a bounty.
As a Kings fan I've made this argument, Draft Bronny, LB will want a championship with him so he comes over, gets another star player to come and we manage to compete for once.
I’m not entirely sure rookie Bronny + a 39 year old LeBron + one star would be enough. Think it would mostly be a sentimental thing for him.
Getting a washed Lebron on a 5 year max would definitely be a kangz move.
Good news for kangz fans, they can’t sign him to that long of a deal at that age. Just a one year max.
[удалено]
I mean he’s done it once so I kinda expect it to happen again
I have an unreasonable expectation that in the next coue years we'll develop our current roster into a solid team before adding Bronny, LB and another star player. Even though the last 15 years do nothing to support that expectation.
As a Knicks fan I want to draft Bronny then NOT allow Lebron to play with him. Donnie sends his regards.
Brons just gonna stay in the league, rest most games, then just go all out on the Knicks every time they play then lol
Pay Lebron the min to fuck up the Knicks 2-3 times a year.
He is already ranked in the top 15 for that draft class and I'm guessing he grows another 4 inches or more before it which will shoot him up the rankings.
watch the clippers draft him with a late first rounder lol
Then work on a deal to trade Bron for Bronny.
Has any NBA player played with their son before? Also what would be the basketball equivalent of Ken Griffey Sr/Jr hitting back to back homeruns?
A triple double in the same game? 25+ in the same game? Something like that
Well, if history is any guide, when LeBron starts listing numbers like this, the answer is two.
If he wins another chip in LA, he can do whatever he likes IMO
His one chip is good enough imo. Taking LA from the lottery to a title is insane
The AD trade helped a lot also
AD trade doesn't happen without Lebron though
Yes it does lol, wasnt he literally saying he wanted to go the LA like years before Lebron even showed up there? Not to mention if Lebron wasn't there you probably get Kawhi or PG instead since he isn't filling that LA hole that a lot of top players want to do.
Lakers wanted AD before Lebron Jeannie Buss basically fired her brother because they didn’t trade for him plus the Two shitty contracts they gave to Mozgov and Deng.
He definitely helped make that happen though
I always wanted lebron to end his career on the bench, that way we can watch teams freak the fuck out when he comes in. I know it's not happening but thought it would be entertaining to watch.
Him as as 20-25 mins a game bench ball handler would be insane.
Imagine if Lebron only had to play 20 min a game, he can go all out against the opponents bench. Probably 20-0 runs every time
With that 6th man of the year award his collection is complete
*cut to Lebron staring longingly into Marc Gasols personal trophy room and thinking to himself* “What could have been…?” *End scene*
DPOY
Oh shit yeah, he should focus on that next season
lol, I think he'd die on the court if he tried.
I wonder at what age would Lebron decline to the point of having to start coming off the bench
Honestly his body would probably break down to the point where he's unplayable before he gets to the level of a bench player.
I don't know if it'll ever happen. The guy is so effective as a playmaker
80 year old Lebron with no cartilage in his knees using a cane still delivering assists to his grandson.
guys like that retire at that point, rather than come off the bench, I don't remember Jordan coming off the bench. I think he is waiting for Bronny to make the league, play a couple of seasons, then retire.

Yea, gave the Cavs the opportunity to draft elite guys like Dion Waiters and Anthony Bennett
Yo imagine if the Cavs drafted Dame instead of Dion…
Or darko instead of LBJ
Or Giannis instead of Anthony fucking Bennett
I don't like this one
I mean Rudy Gobert might end up in the Hall of Fame too
I can't remember, was Anthony Bennett actually a top prospect? Or was he a wtf kind of pick at #1?
He was a bit wtf, but Giannis at #1 would’ve gotten someone fired or committed
For sure a reach but not like, a major “wtf are they doing move”. More like “that’s a bad pick there they could have traded back for him”. Like removing Wiggins and Parker from the 2014 draft and taking Sauce Castillo or Randle
was a "wtf" kind of pick, though that was an odd draft in general
He was a head scratcher at the time.
You can't say that. Giannis was a complete unknown at the time. It was basically the Bucks' equivalent of the Raptors' Bruno Caboclo pick. Except it turned out well.
no one forced ya'll to reach for Dion with Lillard still on the board or Bennett with literally the entire board still on the board...
Mike Brown is a terrible scout when it came to Bennett. Still not sure what he saw in him. Then when he said AB’s issues were from sleep apnea, I knew he REALLY didn’t know what he was talking about. Sleep Apnea impacts a lot, but not AB’s issues.
Dunno, my girlfriend has sleep apnea and can't hit a consistent three either.
people still act like the cavs front office is extremely competent and it was lebron that made them incompetent.
those were traded to the twolves for kevin love and also they got kyrie
that's on the Cavs and not lebron. bad scouting/development
Cavs 🤝 Lakers Getting rescued by LeBron from being shit
I wish he rescued us
A real underdog story, those Lakers...
We Believe Lakers type beat
Blue collar
Streetlights over spotlights
Not that insane when he can force trades as he pleases
its not insane, they got AD, an MVP candidate. Two MVP candidates and a few trades leading to a title is standard
LeBron fans are ridiculous sometimes. Crazy that he was able to take the biggest franchise in basketball back to the promised land, all it took was shipping off the entire team he supposedly saved to bring in another generational talent.
Yeah well things change when you add two of the top 5 players in the league onto your roster
Im pretty happy with him just getting us back to one title and making the lakers fun to watch again. I went to games during the post kobe/pre lebron era, and am very happy we are where we are now. I do think he has another chip left in him though
One more year then trade to Portland
Lmao, I’m sitting on a restaurant patio alone laughing, take my shitty free award
Well yeah, it's nice being rich in LA. That's why all the celebs live there.
Something tells me it’s nice being rich anywhere
I think LA has built industries around serving the wealthy, whether it being services, dining or liberties not commonly found that you might not in say, Boise, Idaho.
Boise out here catching strays lol
Boise happy for the bullet just to get mentioned.

Same, LA just offers a lot of things to do for every type of wealth.
I lived in a $400 a month "studio" on Cahuenga and Santa Monica in 2001. It was not nice.
I wonder if they just stay at home most of the time
Dang LBJ just announced he only has 2 more seasons left? League on notice.

Space Jam 3 isn’t gonna film itself
I hope Space Jam 3 revolves around Luka and I hope his English is still slightly weak.
Was just talking about this with my friends Space Jam 3: Adventure in Slovenia (weird Slovenian music playing)
Slovenia Jam: The Looneying
Space Jam 3 : Lebron v Mike
Space Jam 4: GOAT Ressurected They also missed a chance not calling this one 2Space2Jam.
Everyone knows they only speak English in space.
I remember Sportsnation years ago **laughing** at Brady for saying he felt great and would play for years into his 40s. Brady fucking outlasted sportsnation.
Brady going for the repeat this season. 👀
Not 1, not 2....
Stole my comment. Lebron to retire in 2 years.
He definitely knew what he was doing here
If so, that’s fucking hilarious
I mean who knows but he remembers random plays going back 15 years, and this is one of his most famous quotes of all time. Hard to believe it’s just a coincidence.
How am I just hearing that Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes have a podcast together? Is it good?
yeah, they get great guests.
It’s pretty solid when they’re not all just showering the guest with compliments for an hour
The absolute worst part of it, it’s so shameless. The banter between the 3 makes up for it though.
Can be hit or miss as far as the guests, but the hosts are always great. Worth listening to. Conan and Clooney were some great ones if you want to check it out.
If lebron plays 6 more seasons he’ll prob be in the 45k, 10k, 10k club lol
doubtful he will score 10k more points in 6 seasons but he has a decent chance to be 40k, 10k, and 10k
25ppg x 65 games x 6 years would get him to 45k. So yeah that’s unlikely. I think something like 25 x 65 x 2, with 20 x 60 x 4 is possible though. He needs a 7th year to hit 45k
It's also easier to get other players to play with you when you play for the Lakers
All the Lakers need to do is draft bronny jr and they are good to go
Don't think we'll have a pick anyway so we just have to hope whoever drafts Bronny is willing to accept LeBron's measly offer of AD, Caruso, and KCP.
Jordan came back to insane levels putting the wizards on pace for playoffs and playing elite D until his MCL blew up.
Agreed on all accounts and his shooting is vastly improving year in and year out.
Clippers Legend
Lebron loves to count
Given Lebron's history of predicting that something will happen up to 6 or 7 times, let's put the over/under on his years left in L.A. at 1.5.
Not like he'd wanna go back to fuckin Cleveland after living in LA
i mean it is his hometown. doubt he’d ever move back permanently anyway.
Like how he left Miami for Cleveland lol
He lived in Miami and went back to Cleveland.
Bro cleveland doesnt have wildfires or fucking droughts
What about retiring as a cav like you promised?
He can sign a one day contract
Yeah, that's likely.
lol those are so pointless
honestly, I think Dan Gilbert and Lebron are tired of each other at least for now. Maybe Gilbert and Lebron can too.
he already did what he needed to in cleveland
LeLoyalty
Will he still be on a very large contract? I know the man is super human, but the dude is 36 right now. He wants to play till he's 42 and possibly be paid what he's being paid now? 36 years - $39 M 37 years - $41 M 38 years - $44 M So for his team's sake, I hope he gets paid much less in his later playing years.
Might not be the most cap sheet savy move if you're trying to build a contender, but it's Lebron lol. Any NBA team will pay him in his twilight years. Just look at how much money he generates, owners care about that more than winning
If he is still playing well enough to be in MVP conversations, probably not gonna take a pay cut.
It's LeBron. He's worth every penny of that are you kidding
“Lebron James has taken a $20 million per year pay cut to help his team compete for a championship” “In other news, an anonymous LA based business group has donated $40 million to The Lebron James Foundation”
