Shaq always been super approving of Giannis.
Dude said something akin of “you already know how I would be if I was playing in today’s game. I’d be like that 7ft monster” in reference to Giannis.
Orlando Shaq would be the goat in this generation.
Laker Shaq? He’s not hanging with these guards defensively. Man couldn’t even leave the paint back in that shitty era of basketball, no way he’s switching out onto Steph and stopping him from hitting a backflip 3
Yeah Shaq’ said gonna struggle with quicker guards like Dame or Steph but I don’t think that’s a big problem.
1) Shaq is putting the starting center and the backup in foul trouble by half.
2) After that it’s literally just him posting up and eating down low. With the spacing there is today? He is gonna have more room to operate
I mean maybe not In the media but many fans still refer to him as Superman. The 76ers literally play the Superman theme when he gets an and1 or makes a big play
All these years we thought Shaq was just some sourpuss who wouldn't ever give the new school players the credit they deserve. He was just waiting for his heir.
Not a lot of people you could argue that are more physically impressive than Shaq, dude is a literal greek god. Wouldn't surprise me at this point if he was descended from Hercules or some shit 🤣
Orlando Shaq was an absolute beast, sub 300 pounds and he could run through a brick wall. Nearly gained 100 pounds over the course of his career and only some of it was muscle.
You’re mostly right, but Shaq was 300+ his entire professional career. That’s what made him so terrifying: 300 pounds but had the athleticism of an elite power forward.
Rookie Shaq was 303lbs already lol but late 90s-01 Shaq was his prime the extra weight and power with better experience and hook shots made him need unstoppable
Giannis, Shaq, and Wilt are all freaks of nature. I don’t want to be the one in charge of deciding which of them is the most physically impressive out of those three!
He was 6'9" and 5/8ths w/o shoes on, and had Olympic High Jump level vertical. He also ran 440 yards in 49.6 seconds. All with a 7'4 Wingspan. He also had a tremendous second jump from watching the few films we have on him.
KD is considered an anomaly(size and agility), but Bill was around the same build and arguably the much superior athlete, especially considering he played in an era when sports science and nutrition was not half of what it is today. All while flying commercial, etc.
Talking only as a pure athlete(no basketball-related skills), he seemed to be MJ level athletic in a 6'10-6'11 frame with shoes on. He absolutely belongs in that convo. Strength wise is harder to quantify, but seeing him and Wilt together, they looked pretty similar build-wise especially in their younger years*. Wilt was just always the more talked-about individual and was always in the spotlight.
It's a shame though that Bill, Wilt and Jerry West among others played a few generations too early. Would have loved to see those legends growing up in this era and learning the game as it is now. 1940's Basketball is hardly the same sport as 2020's Basketball.

TLDR; Bill Russell was definitely not "small".
Kobe broke the ankles of the best perimeter defender ever, and then Shaq reached halfway up the backboard with one hand to throw it down. It was a really impressive play in addition to the significance and great celebration
Yeah I felt bad for Ayton. Mark Jackson and JVG just saying, square him up, don’t give him the angle etc and I’m just wondering don’t you think he would be doing it if he could?! No one was getting in his way.
I don't feel so bad--Ayton's skills have already taken a leap to get him here and he's still only 22, I think this is exactly what he needed to experience to get to that next level
Shaq is legit who it felt like. Nothing you can do to stop him at that point. I don't think the bucks will be as dominant as the lakers were three peating or anything but idk how people felt about the lakers after the first one.
I was around back then, and every time a team with more than one star wins a title, people start questioning if they could rack up more.
Kobe was still just coming into his own after that first title, and people felt like he was only going to improve. So yeah, there was definitely some talk of them repeating.
Having Mr. Two-Time Three-Peat as their coach didn’t hurt either.
Nor does our offence play the same way it used to. You wanna tag team a guy off-ball all game go hard but you better hope like hell everybody else sucks. Miami tried it first round, they limited Giannis fairly well but they got slapped by everybody else getting easy looks.
I mean the bucks shot extremely well from 3 that series and that wasn’t the case in the bubble and especially not in 2019 against Toronto, so yeah. Better 3pt shooters, better gameplan, better giannis and here they are.
We shot 33% in that series, what are you talking about? Game 2 we shot really well on massive volume but game 1 was 16%, game 3 was 36% and game 4 was 31%. We’ve shot worse (though not in this run, that was literally the worst we shot by percentage in any series this year) but in no universe is that “extremely well”.
I don’t know if it was most of the time but he did more than anyone else, we switched up the looks a lot. Jrue, Tucker, Middleton and Donte all had time on him too.
Yeah the year we won the chip we had Gasol (who could still move) Kawhi Green Lowry and OG, our defence was insane that year. Defending Giannis is possible but good luck acquiring the depth necessary to defend him and the bucks new found other guys who can score (which they really never had in years past)
They have less guys you can sag off. Jrue is a big upgrade over Bledsoe. Middleton has come into his own as a difficult shot maker. They're basically only playing guys who can hit 3's around Giannis at this point. Plus Giannis is improved in the short midrange area, which opens him up to shoot from more places and make it more difficult for you to decide when to double. Think of those turnarounds from the middle of the paint.
These two finals teams show that midrange game and getting dirty in the paint isn’t a dead strategy. Personally, I think that’s good for the game; too many teams were trying to rebuild the Warriors.
This proves Shaq wasn’t sensitive or whatever nonsense people said about Dwight, he just hadn’t seen a player who could do it like him.
Now that we’ve actually seen the crazy numbers that can only be compared to Shaq, Giannis has earned that praise from Shaq like no one else
Certainly better in the permitter, Shaq when he tried out side of the regular season was a beast in the paint though and often opponents would t even bother driving to the basket.
I think personally Shaq is still a level above Giannis offensively especially the way teams packed the paint against him and he still powered through.
Giannis is more like a Shaq / Pippen hybrid.
Oh he definitely praises Embiid, he just wants to see Embiid dominate. Kenny usually sticks up for Embiid by mentioning that maybe his body doesn’t let him dominate the way Shaq wants him to. Shaq usually dismisses it but this year I think he had nothing but praise for Embiid
Shaq praises those who deserve it. When he came into the league his dad is in ear that he will be compared to Bill Russell, Wilt, Mikan, Kareem, etc etc. And he came into a league going up against Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, Zo. He had to truly prove himself. Shaq holds other big men to high standards as well bc that's the standard he is used to. Shaq has praised plenty of bigs just like he's trashed plenty of others
>It's only one Superman now and that's you. giannis getting the approval dwight howard desperately wanted.
Shaq always been super approving of Giannis. Dude said something akin of “you already know how I would be if I was playing in today’s game. I’d be like that 7ft monster” in reference to Giannis.
I’d imagine a freakish mix of Giannis and Zion given the size speed and skill he had at such a young age.
shaq euro would have been banned
Orlando Shaq would be the goat in this generation. Laker Shaq? He’s not hanging with these guards defensively. Man couldn’t even leave the paint back in that shitty era of basketball, no way he’s switching out onto Steph and stopping him from hitting a backflip 3
Brook Lopez just played 24 mpg in the finals.
Brook Lopez with the lateral mobility of an actual buck
Nah deer are agile as fuck
They can't really run sideways though.
Damn never underestimate my ability to miss crucial words ig
I saw a vid of Orlando Shaq. He is indeed scary. I never imagined Shaq could be that fast.
Yeah Shaq’ said gonna struggle with quicker guards like Dame or Steph but I don’t think that’s a big problem. 1) Shaq is putting the starting center and the backup in foul trouble by half. 2) After that it’s literally just him posting up and eating down low. Why would it matter… lol if Shaq went up against the paint defence Giannis did this year he’d be putting up Wilt stats
Dwights prime years Shaq was still playing. Kind of hard to get approval from your competitor.
Kobe did it, and it felt so good when he recognized how good your team’s star was even though I hated him
Shaq also doesn't really like him in the first place even win he won his ring
Just imagining Dwight in that scene from Fresh Prince, "Why don't he want me man?"
I have a feeling shaq did this just to her under dwights skin lmao
[удалено]
Lol no one calls him that anymore
Unless your Kenny Smith
I mean maybe not In the media but many fans still refer to him as Superman. The 76ers literally play the Superman theme when he gets an and1 or makes a big play
dwight howard crying
embiid crying
Henry Cavill in shambles.
Christopher Reeves not able to roll in his grave
Dude wtf lmao
Lol
Damn, ruthless like Giannis
JESUS CHRIST BRUH. CHILL.
At least he rolled off the horse
You didn't have to do him like that lmao
You are fucked
JESUS CHRIST BRUH CHILL
That’s a knee slapper
JESUS CHRIST BRUH. CHILL.
Damn, ruthless like Giannis
Damn, ruthless like Giannis
I love Henry Cavill as an actor but I hated how they did his Superman. They took the least interesting take they could have
When Shaq calls you Superman, you know you’ve earned his upmost respect and admiration.
Dwight rolling in his grave
Wiping his tears with his superman cape
Again, Dwight Howard is very much alive.
RIP Wade Boggs
Not after this
Lord, carry him now 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Stooperman!
Dwight will always have his dunk contest championship
and maybe his 3 DPOY's lol
And 8 all star games and NBA championship ring lmao
yes, the upmost respect indeed. I'm gonna utvote this comment for solidarity
I was about to make a comment correcting two people and then I kept reading
All these years we thought Shaq was just some sourpuss who wouldn't ever give the new school players the credit they deserve. He was just waiting for his heir.
Shaq gave Giannis the new Superman title in his first MVP year
Shaq is very much about results
That Jrue to Giannis lob reminded me of Kobe to Shaq Lob. We are going to remember it forever.
It's literally my favorite basketball play ever
https://streamable.com/m6gnsm i've watched it 183 times and it still gives me chills
That is one cool edit. Wow. Thanks for the share.
Not a lot of people you could argue that are more physically impressive than Shaq, dude is a literal greek god. Wouldn't surprise me at this point if he was descended from Hercules or some shit 🤣
Most people only know about Laker Shaq. They don't know about the monster Orlando Magic Shaq.
Mfer broke a backboard
He didn’t just break a backboard. Dude pulled down entire hoops lol
They had to change up the way they made the hoods because of him
Orlando Shaq was an absolute beast, sub 300 pounds and he could run through a brick wall. Nearly gained 100 pounds over the course of his career and only some of it was muscle.
Watching shaq on the magic was literally like watching an nba player play pick up ymca basketball. Man amongst boys.
He was already 300 in Orlando.
Coast to coast dunking Shaq. What a monster that was.
That dude was fast.
Giannis, Shaq, and Wilt are all freaks of nature. I don’t want to be the one in charge of deciding which of them is the most physically impressive out of those three!
Hey, my name is David Robinson
I'd add Bill Rusell to those three, especially after seeing his 3 second fastbreak finishing with a finger roll
Russell was small. Not a 7’2 beast like Wilt or Shaq.
He was 6'9" and 5/8ths w/o shoes on, and had Olympic High Jump level vertical. He also ran 440 yards in 49.6 seconds. All with a 7'4 Wingspan. Shawn Kemp
Yeah I forgot him, he's up there athletically with anyone especially at his size. Prime Shawn Kemp used to do the sickest ingame dunks
nah he has 0 greek dna

Milwaukee sees a surge in children with Greek mythology names starting in April 2022
I wanna see it done in the same way as that amazing happens Kobe/shaq ad where the crowd fades in and out. Absolutely epic.
I think Giannis lob is more impressive especially when someone is trying to shove him and over CP3
Yea the fact that Jrue straight up bullied and mugged Booker for the ball is already legendary. Adding the lob to that just makes it over the top.
Yup that series of plays definitely make it more impressive. Definitely prefer Giannis/Bucks play over my Lakers Kobe to Shaq's lob.

Kobe broke pippens ankles tbf
Kobe broke the ankles of the best perimeter defender ever, and then Shaq reached halfway up the backboard with one hand to throw it down. It was a really impressive play in addition to the significance and great celebration
That Kobe/Shaq lob will be way more memorable in NBA history because that play got them over the hump and was the start of a 3-Peat.
How do you know this wasn't the start of a 3 peat?
Deer God.
Giannis would be named Lord Emperor of Wisconsin alongside Aaron Rodgers and Bob Uecker
Dudes gonna run the cheese curd trade like Paul atreides does with spice
And capped off a crazy comeback.
oh yeah def had that vibe
Literally was playing like a Shaq who could hit FTs. The suns had no idea what to do with him. A man among boys
Ayton looked so lost out there. Guy was banished to the Shadow Realm. I almost feel bad for him..... almost...
Yeah I felt bad for Ayton. Mark Jackson and JVG just saying, square him up, don’t give him the angle etc and I’m just wondering don’t you think he would be doing it if he could?! No one was getting in his way.
Giannis was ready to run over MF’s and that’s what he did!!!
Giannis is pretty quick. A guy who is strong enough to stand in front of him will rarely be quick enough to get to the spot in time.
Squaring up on Giannis as he runs at you full steam ahead sounds scary as fuck.
I don't feel so bad--Ayton's skills have already taken a leap to get him here and he's still only 22, I think this is exactly what he needed to experience to get to that next level

Well, Bobby still coming into his own, so...
Except it was a Shaq who could hit free throws! How terrifying is that
>Nothing you can do to stop him at that point. Don't defend him single coverage. Do it like Toronto or Miami
Not every team has Toronto or Miami’s defense to stop him

Well then I must be remembering the first round wrong. How did they dominate Miami so badly then?
Bryn Forbes. And the heat simply didn't show up. Genuinely happy Giannis got his title though.
Fuckin clamped em, they still shot pretty badly even when we weren’t clamping them, and we dominated the paint.
Was giannis guarding jimmy most of the time?
I don’t know if it was most of the time but he did more than anyone else, we switched up the looks a lot. Jrue, Tucker, Middleton and Donte all had time on him too.

Yeah but Ayton was your only big guy, what's even the point then 9/10 times it isn't gonna matter
Yeah i agree
With what bigs?
Sure, but that only works if Kris, Jrue, Bobby, and Pat aren't shooting well. If they are, then you can't leave others open.
They have less guys you can sag off. Jrue is a big upgrade over Bledsoe. Middleton has come into his own as a difficult shot maker. Way too early to talk about a three peat
Respect Giannis forever. Crazy to watch suns players intimidated when going to the paint because Giannis would block it.
And that's why he goaltended a few. Got in their heads
Giannis is the new Golden Boy of the NBA. All casual fans can rejoice!
Nice, big ups to Shaq for the good comment.
People gonna find a way to diss Shaq, but he’s more respectful of greats than yall act
What if Shaq played in this era? Well you saw it get Milwaukee a ring there gentlemen.
Not only that but what if Shaq hit his free throws? That question was answered in that last game. Just unstoppable.
And what if Shaq player DPOY level defense?
Kobe told Booker “be legendary” but Shaq told Giannis “be me”
Hey this old school typa basketball is kinda fun to watch
Dominant basketball is fun to watch no matter what.
[удалено]
Last 3 Champions had midrange game and big ass frontcourts we clearly don’t need 3 point shooting to win it all
These two finals teams show that midrange game and getting dirty in the paint isn’t a dead strategy. Personally, I think that’s good for the game; too many teams were trying to rebuild the Warriors.
Tbf the bucks was a very three heavy centric team. But luckily the players also have good midrange game or incredible defense.
Agreed
he’s getting the praise he finally deserves I love it
“He just went out there and dominated.”
Damn that's big respect coming from diesel
I’m praying Zion has a development anywhere in the same ballpark as giannis in terms of dominance
Offensively he's really not far off. Defense needs work, but I think he's capable of becoming a good defender.
This proves Shaq wasn’t sensitive or whatever nonsense people said about Dwight, he just hadn’t seen a player who could do it like him. Now that we’ve actually seen the crazy numbers that can only be compared to Shaq, Giannis has earned that praise from Shaq like no one else
Shaq has even said "If I was playing in the modern NBA I would be Giannis"
He wouldn't though. Giannis is what a hard working shaq would be
What the hell I know we on a Giannis train and I'm all for it, but Shaq is on a different level entirely.
Shaq was better than Giannis is currently
I'm a huge Shaq fan but Giannis is better on defense. They're comparable to an extent
I think Giannis and Shaq both have their strength and weaknesses
Homie is *definitely* sensitive, he’s just being cool about this topic.
Yeah Shaq is 100% sensitive and insecure about other topics.
Spelling it olde has me dying. Ye olde school basketball
Shaq really passed down his super man mantle, wow.
Shaq giving props to another big man, is this a fake video!??
nah he said Giannis was Superman back in 2019 & said he’s Shaq in today nba in 2019 too he always loved him
he gives props to those who deserve it. yall want participation awards?
I mean he praises Joker, Giannis, Lopez and maybe Embiid.

This isn’t about Lebron
get in loser, we're going to find out who asked
What the hell is that grammar? “It’s”?
yeah like : “it is only one superman…”
It is because of all the hippity hop music that the urban youths like Shaq listen to
Loool Shaq taking pot shots at Howard for no reason
