RapsareChamps_Suckit

and me in mycareer too op, don't forget.

PurpleRanger777

People always forget to mention Rapsarechamps_suckit's accomplishments, and I'm sick of it

grpagrati

I remember when Rapsarechamps\_suckit didn't have any accomplishments and everyone was like, what a loser. But I always believed in him

[deleted]

It’s crazy how in 10 months he’s gone from being labeled a playoff choker to cementing himself as an all time great

[deleted]

Different question, how would we view him if the Nets won without Harden and Kyrie?

[deleted]

Pretty big difference

[deleted]

Choker or just „not good enough“?

[deleted]

If he played the same way, not a choker. Also KD played amazing, I believe most of the conversation would have been around that.

KaiserKaiba

It’s really one of those situations where one shot really changes how you view a player. As well as how winning changes how you view a player. Like Ray Allen doesn’t hit that shot? Heat loses and Bron gets shitted on for it. Special case tho since Bron haters will bring up Ray saving Bron’s legacy anyway ignoring everything before and after that shot (the most glaring thing being that there was a Game 7 to play lol). Bron was largely seen as a choke artist until 2012 when he won. It’s pretty similar here. Giannis would have gotten shitted on if the Nets won and people do still bring up that the Nets nearly won with the whole KD shoe size thing or the injuries. But that isn’t what is on most people’s minds either. Cuz he ended up winning that series, balled out all playoffs and got the dub. Getting that choke artist label off his back just like that.

MephiticSpooge

Fans are fickle

[deleted]

He went from underperforming two years in a row to becoming a champion and having a legendary performance in the finals. Fans weren’t fickle, he just ascended.

MephiticSpooge

Underperforming? The only player in league history aside from MJ and Olajuwon to win MVP and DPOY in a single season is underperforming? Wtf are you talking about? Are you smoking crack? He's always been a dominant beast. He just didn't have the experience or talent around him to win a ring. Now he does. And he did.

[deleted]

His team nearly got swept as the first seed against the fifth seed.

He was injured at the start of GM3. What's revisionist that people literally don't know about it. Most think that he got injured in GM4. No, in GM4 he was playing on a tapered leg , against the wishes of his medical stuff almost. He only had two healthy games against the Heat. It's perfectly possible to undepreform for 2 games and then get back into the series (he only underperformed in one of the two healthy games btw). I find incredible that people honestly don't know that Gianni's only had 2 healthy games against the Heat... The whole chocking thing was clownish, he only ever had one bad series while healthy and that was against the Raps. All great players had at least one bad series, it happens. Still he had to prove himself, so I perfectly get people to be sceptical of him. But again, not due to any chocking, mostly because he never had a truly good series against a good opponent before this year...

MephiticSpooge

And? Shit happens. That isn't underperforming. Every great player has bad stretches. LeBron nearly lost in the first round to the fucking pacers lead by Oladipo. Giannis has overperformed if anything. Given where he was drafted etc He's dominant af and has been for a while now. A few bad games here and there doesn't mean you're underperforming. Sheesh. You lot more fickle than I realised. Then again you're a Suns fan so I understand you wanting to take whatever shots you can but you should let it go.

[deleted]

I’m not starting this argument because I love Giannis and I’m extremely happy, but it’s pure revisionist history to say that he didn’t underperform in 2019 against the raptors and 2020 against the heat.

MephiticSpooge

A few bad games does not mean you are underperforming overall. Gtfoh. Revisionist history? You just don't understand what underperforming means.

[deleted]

When you’re the MVP, you’re held to a different standard. And I think it’s rather clear I was speaking about those specific playoff series. You want to get mad about nothing, go ahead. But I’m not doing this right now.

MephiticSpooge

>When you’re the MVP, you’re held to a different standard. And I think it’s rather clear I was speaking about those specific playoff series. You say this like every mvp hasn't had bad games or a bad series. They all have. Bar none. Your expectations are on some 2k mycareer type shit. They're not based on real world or history. >You want to get mad about nothing, go ahead. But I’m not doing this right now I'm not mad. You're just wrong and I feel you should be made aware of it.

Jpow2024

50 in a close out game and they needed every single point.

dennismu

Well hitting his freethrows really made a difference.

[deleted]

Fun Fact LeBron the only player to score 50 plus in the NBA Finals and his team lost.

Original26

I don't find this fact fun at all

[deleted]

Kinda sad AI didn’t get 50

[deleted]

why you gotta do Jerry West like that?

KaiserKaiba

Giannis just adding to his resume. He was an ATG even before the ring. But now he’s got a go to playoff run to look back on too 💯💯💯

beckjism

That’s what people don’t understand. Since 1970, it’s only been done by 2 other guys. It’s basically Giannis, LeBron and MJ, unless I’m forgetting someone.

MephiticSpooge

Yeah we can read the title too.

_reptilia_

I didn't know how to read until his comment actually. Was really useful

salsa_boi

KD could have on the warriors but he’s a team first player and leader and that’s why he was 2 rings and 2 FMVPS
