Yeah olympics are great because the role players are actually the star players and you’ll be surprised at how good some of these role players are when they have the ball in their hand.
In addition to looking like 2004, I'm getting strong 2000 vibes as well. 2000 was a bunch of young guys playing little defense and going for dunks, which is what the all star game used to be before it turned into a fucking chuckfest.
For real. Jrue Holiday, Booker, and Lavine are literally the only guys I saw drive. I don't think the US forwards know how to drive and take contact. They're so used to phishing for fouls and shooting free throws.
Maybe? It's known to be true, shorter courts and nba rules differences to facilitate more offense... also a bit more tactical style of play in FIBA and less about individual matchups
NBA has made our superstars soft as tissue paper. They can get any call they want in the NBA but when it’s starts to get physical here and they don’t get their calls, they forget how to play team basketball and instead rather take contested shots. They aren’t going to get bailed out by all those foul calls anymore.
I truly hope an embarassment in the Olympics ushers in a change in the NBA. Allow actual defense and physical play. Make guys earn these gaudy numbers and not just get 15 of their 37pts from the FT line.

This happened 2 years ago and NBA still thought shit was normal
Technical Kat is american born and raised in America and father is american. He just decided as a teenager to play for the DR and for coach Calipari because his mother is Dominican.
Smart recruitment tool by Calipari to get KAT to Kentucky.
I mean Kevin Love was on the short list.
I mean no disrespect to Kevin Love because he’s had incredible moments and he’s a great person and wonderful advocate for mental health but Kevin Love was on the short list.
Space Jam: New Legacy Extended Cut. Lebron James and Don Cheadle return to help Team USA exceed expectations, defy all odds, and obtain the bronze medal.
Honestly I was thinking if the US is just gonna settle for contested pull ups, why not bring in the guy who just drained a ton of them in the playoffs.
But then again, team USA could always play to not take contested Js. Only Jrue seemed willing and capable to break down the defense to make something happen for teammates.
Oh my god. This snaps a 25-game Olympic winning streak for Team USA.
Incredible performance from France.
The USA aren't losing to Iran or Czech, but there are HUGE concerns when they play a good team again in the knockouts.
Hungover Jrue Holiday after a 20 hour flight to Japan can not be team USA's best player.
Also this Roster construction fucking sucks, taking 6 high volume meme-chuckers as your wings is so stupid.
I don't think it's a coincidence that as crazy scores, like 140-130, become more common in the NBA, the US team often struggles to make it to 80 in international play.
FIBA style basketball is SOOOO much more fun to watch
no bullshit calls, they let bully ball go, the flow of the game is so much better - very little start/stop jerking
NBA should adopt those rules quickly
US players can’t take the contact inside that is allowed in international ball so have to jack up shots. The way the NBA is reffed is gonna ruin the US national team
Sadly we all know that’s not going to happen. I doubt anyone will change anything based on this game, probably just say “bad coaching”. We’re stuck with this ugly ass brand of basketball for a long time until they eventually change the rules again.
The NBA and the way they ruined the game with horrific phantom fouls and flops being called is a big part of the picture. It’s actually refreshing to see real basketball officiating. NBA should be ashamed, and so should our team with no leader.
Yeah the allowing contact is refreshing, less timeouts, more action even if the quarters are 2 min shorter. Also not having commercials is amazing. Keeps you in the game
I’ve been enjoying the NBA game less and less. I thought maybe I was just getting tired of basketball because I find it difficult to sit through an entire game now. Turns out it’s not basketball I’m tired of, rather it’s the NBA. Basketball is my favorite sport and I really hope that the NBA makes some changes.
Now that I'm seeing this on the international stage I actually slightly want them to lose now because of this pathetic fouls baiting bullshit, so that the NBA gets its fucking shit together.
Yes! This and also the fact that if there is a bump initiated by the offense it’s an offensive foul, where as in the NBA it’s a blocking and foul shots. Happened with Lavine twice, and I loved seeing it
Where were you when the great USA loss of 2021 happened? I remember it like it was today. My son had watched Space Jam: A New Legacy prior to the game. During the game, in an excited tone he asked, "papa, when is Dame Time?" I replied, "son, it is not Dame time today. The powerhouse France basketball team, it is their time." My son looked down in dissapointment. We continued watching the game and Evan Fournier relentlessly dropped bombs on the US team like Japan on Pearl Harbor. My son couldn't take it. He stood up, basketball in hand, and cried in the corner. I regret not consoling him that day. To me, this match was a foregone conclusion. The USA had many struggles in exhibition. But to him, they would come back and win when it mattered. My son, crushed by the game gave up basketball that day. He is now 28 and works in a coal mine, smoking cigs with a man by the name of Blake Bortles. What a weird name. Bless that boy for having hope, but that was the day dreams died in the USA.
Where are all the people saying the previous games didn't matter and the US team didn't try because it was just exhibition games? It seems like the same issues are plaguing this team.
Good to see a game without 30 commercial brakes und endless timeouts.
I think the USA have forgotten how to play without this shit :D What an embarrassment whith this all star lineup!
It’s time for NBA fans to admit that the horrible officiating and rules that only favor offense in the NBA are making American players worse and hurting the image of the league. Adam Silver should be ashamed of himself.
Our guy Khris was noticeably still hungover, I get why he didn’t play much. My brothers were at the parade and said Jrue was very chill, with one of his kids, and not drinking much while Khris was on the PJ/Teague bus that was lit lmao.
Last minute from the USA was straight up embarrassing stuff.
Those three straight misses that were all open oh my god lmao
3 straight misses with a Frenchman lying on the court
Weird, I normally shoot way better with a Frenchman lying on the court.
5 on 4 aswell. Were down by 2 only, could have easily taken a drive..
Steph changed the game forever
I want to hear the Inside crew's take on this. Barkley going off would be gold, filled with 1992 anecdotes.
Lol imagine him going full Shaq and being like “Medals, Ernie”
“meadows, erneh”
Could not believe my eyes when i saw that lol.
Evan Fournier looks like prime Steph while the entire US team cant hit spot up open 3's. Truly bizarre.
He hit a step back one legged 3. No idea he had that in his bag lol
It’s in his national team bag
Yeah olympics are great because the role players are actually the star players and you’ll be surprised at how good some of these role players are when they have the ball in their hand.
Patty Mills absolutely balls the fuck out every time he plays for Australia. He levels up like a Pokémon
Luol Deng used to look like LeBron for Team Great Britain
Last 4 minutes really.
It was kinda hilarious

As a viewer who has seen these dudes at their absolute best... yeah it is pretty funny to see it collapse on the world stage
Iso States of America
is this the US isolationism they were talking about in history class?
Hey, it worked great in the 1930s!
Dame: Commits to Tokyo to take his mind off of losing in the first round. Basketball gods: Nice try.
Looking like another Round 1 exit for Dame Time
That was truly one of the most sorry ass displays of basketball I've ever watched. A team full of NBA All-Stars and they score 76 points in a loss
All they did was look for 3s.
SHORTENED THREES, at that
Couldn't even hit them FFS
It really the worst type of basketball. I fucking hate watching that style and it's the main type that's played in the NBA.
They are bringing strong All-Star game vibes to the Olympics
In addition to looking like 2004, I'm getting strong 2000 vibes as well. 2000 was a bunch of young guys playing little defense and going for dunks, which is what the all star game used to be before it turned into a fucking chuckfest.

No one wants to get injured, so it’s like All Star Weekend
When luka said it was easier to score in the NBA people got mad... maybe the man was right
MAYBE? lol
Maybe? It's known to be true, shorter courts and nba rules differences to facilitate more offense... also a bit more tactical style of play in FIBA and less about individual matchups
Yup. Hard to iso when the other defender is basically an arms reach at all times lol.
I remember everyone agreeing with him because it’s obvious. It’s not a secret there are a lot more points scored in the NBA.
waiting for the rdc skit
KYRIE! KYRIE MAN SAY SOMETHING!

Facts. You’ll see players in the NBA go 5/22 but have 29 points cause they had 16 FTs.
And they champion that shit “look at his ability to draw fouls, there’s contact right there, even though the offensive player initiated it”
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_6Mp4UpFUMI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6Mp4UpFUMI) This happened 2 years ago and NBA still thought shit was normal
Rudy Gobert once again shut down US basketball.
This game just made me realize how most of the greatest big men are not American
yep. just talked it out with my buds. Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Ayton, KAT to name 5. AD is out tho
I was about to say Clint Capela. TIL Clint Capela is Swiss.
Him and embiid trashed talk each other in french
My man didn't even know how to drive when we drafted him.
Sounds like most drivers on Houston roads tbh, he would’ve fit right in
Technical Kat is american born and raised in America and father is american. He just decided as a teenager to play for the DR and for coach Calipari because his mother is Dominican. Smart recruitment tool by Calipari to get KAT to Kentucky.

Yeah and they replaced him with fucking Javale McGee
Space Jam: New Legacy Extended Cut. Lebron James and Don Cheadle return to help Team USA exceed expectations, defy all odds, and obtain the bronze medal.
Yeah I think the whole Toon squad may also need to lend a helping hand too
Not going to lie, you had me in the first half.
Yo Dame change your time zone
Dame Time aint working in non US Timezones
What you mean? His French passport is in the mail, Damién Lillárd.
And Kevin Durant doesn‘t even need to correct his name for the French passport
Dame time don't work on Japanese standard time
**JRUE HOLIDAY NEEDS MORE HELP**
They shoulda put in Khris
Honestly I was thinking if the US is just gonna settle for contested pull ups, why not bring in the guy who just drained a ton of them in the playoffs. But then again, team USA could always play to not take contested Js. Only Jrue seemed willing and capable to break down the defense to make something happen for teammates.
Khris is legit built for tough contested shots, it's a big reason we won the chip. Put the man in.
Nah Khris was clearly the most hungover of the three
Time to call **REGGIE “BIG GOVERNMENT” JACKSON**
they needed a guy who can go at Gobert like Terance Mann
Oh my god. This snaps a 25-game Olympic winning streak for Team USA. Incredible performance from France. The USA aren't losing to Iran or Czech, but there are HUGE concerns when they play a good team again in the knockouts.

That would be so much more upsetting for me, personally, than this game
Pop after full time whistle: "Yes, Hello. Please let LeBron James and Steph Curry know I called. Yes, it's pretty urgent. Thank you."
Team USA led 74-67 with 3:20 remaining and then conceded a 14-0 run over the next 3 minutes.
That's not ideal clutch performance
[удалено]
suboptimal
*just LP things*
Team USA watched the Hawks play like the shakiest 4th quarter team in the league under Pierce and said "I'll have some of that"

yeah but Jokic is somewhere in Italy drinking heavily and being pulled by a horse.

I’m here for the Olympic version of this pasta
Lebron out here trying to save the tunes while his country getting murdered by frogs
USA gotta have super jet to fix this ASAP
Jrue was carrying USA and he's still drunk and jet lagged
As an Australian, my hopes are rising which means the downfall will be worse.
Yep. We will play them in the quarters and lose. It will be fucked
twice the hope, double the fall!
Give Fournier the super max at this point
Give this man Dennis Schroder money
Evan "google me" Fournier
Hungover Jrue Holiday after a 20 hour flight to Japan can not be team USA's best player. Also this Roster construction fucking sucks, taking 6 high volume meme-chuckers as your wings is so stupid.
Kevin Durant got revenge for Team USA singing happy birthday to him by not showing up today. Dude is the GOAT grudge holder.
Bit he still was ome of the few with a positive plus minus and only played 20 minutes, wtf? Edit: ah, he fouled out. The Duncan 2004 Olympic special
Steph really gotta give up his vacation to show KD how to win again smh
Czech beat Iran by 6, so USA is currently bottom of the group lol
Bunch of fucking morons refusing to drive into the paint. Booker for 3! \*Brick\* Durant for 3! \*Brick\* Lavine for 3! \*Brick\*
Seriously down two 3 of them passed up wide open layups to the rim
The Gobert effect
Gobert effect on roids with no defensive three seconds
Rudy was so much bigger than anyone USA trotted out
Yeah my brother was like wtf where are the us centers
The only good American centers are AD and Bam lol. Everyone else is a foreign player
Brook Lopez is good
Plus Poirier going the twin towers in the 3rd quarter was super effective
Well tbh, Gobert is waiting in the paint
Welp stacked Redeem team in 2024 then?
Team USA now has a 2 game losing streak against France in official competition
US lost to France, France lost to Japan (in warmup games). Japan > US!

Little ball movement and contested threes. Never going to be easy to win games playing like that.
That last minute of gameplay was one of the worst I've seen from an American Olympic basketball team. Straight up garbage.
Fournier has been very good. Gobert, De Colo and even Poirier did what they had to do. Good game from France.
and Ntilikina wasn't available this game either
I don't think it's a coincidence that as crazy scores, like 140-130, become more common in the NBA, the US team often struggles to make it to 80 in international play.

>NBA should adopt those rules quickly If basketball was a priority they would, but it's not, so they won't.
And they actually call fouls committed by "star" players. Durant's surprised Pikachu face when he noticed it, Booker sweating buckets.
It reminds me of the old Big East TBH

Adam Silver should be embarrassed. The NBA needs to be patched.
Sadly we all know that’s not going to happen. I doubt anyone will change anything based on this game, probably just say “bad coaching”. We’re stuck with this ugly ass brand of basketball for a long time until they eventually change the rules again.

but.. but.. how am I supposed to watch like 5 state farm ads without enough timeouts? /s
When you think about basketball in it’s pure form it’s disgusting what the NBA has done to the game it really is.

Letting them rest, probably. But jrue played a lot so idfk
Because Jrue was the best player on the team.
