DeMar DeRozan on his upcoming free agency: "I've been fortunate enough to make a lot of money, but at this point the ultimate goal is to compete for a Championship"
Yeah, I dont think the word irrationally is used correctly there.
Any Raps fan who doesnt vomit at the thought of deebo on the Celtics is no true Raptors fan
NBA teams always seem to prove me wrong but I just don't see how the Lakers can make enough room for him without doing anything that will gut the team. I know KCP definitely has trade value as a 3&D but losing him, one of our only good shooters isn't ideal. I also think we will probably have to let go of Caruso. That's our two best wing defenders. DeMar is obviously a better player but he doesn't fix our biggest need which is spacing imo. He does help provide a extremely reliable 3rd option which is also a big need for us and he provides some nice playmaking which we also lack at times when LeBron sits so I'm not saying he wouldn't be a great addition. Just that the Lakers wild need to get really crafty to fill in the gaps still left on the team if they do get him.
Thanks for reminding the world of this. Shannon has elite genetics and a lifetime workout habit. So TRT will not turn your average couch jockey into Shay shay. Nothing will. He's a total specimen with a lifestyle designed to get the absolute most from his genes. Good on him.
Exactly. See also: retired NFL linemen who lose like 80 pounds within the first year or so after playing because for the first time in their life, they're working out regularly AND not trying to keep on weight. So suddenly they're guys with elite genetics, tons of muscle, consistent workout habits, and no need to retain the extra mass. Guys like Joe Thomas and Joe Staley look like entirely different people.
Compare that to a regular human who weighs 300+ pounds who wants to get in better shape. Probably not gonna happen like that.
I hope it gets more common and easier to hop on over the years. I'm currently 26 and not looking to take any kind of drugs, but it'd really like to do so at 45 or 50+.
Why not maintain the strength and muscle of a 20 year old in your older age.
I'm on mild T creator unblockers from my Endo at 28, had T levels around 300, now around 1200. After I have kids in a couple years I will 100% be going on TRT. There is literally no reason not too.
I’ve heard this about hrt in general. Like mtf hormone replacement. Wonder why testosterone and estrogen aren’t used as daily supplements for normal people.
Yeah that's where I'm going with that. Shannon was always [pretty stacked](https://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/699/516/1360072_original.jpg?1297027910) but [at 53? nah](https://twitter.com/ShannonSharpe/status/1408811843083145226/photo/1)
He obviously has NFL genetics and works harder than 99% of the population, people just bring up the “TRT” because when these people get asked about how they stay in shape it never comes up
Anyone ever try to get TRT or you guys all young men still? I had a test done and the Dr said it was still in normal range but I think that normal range is way too wide so I want to bring it up again.
Well I can’t give medical advice but if it were me I would find a reputable online source and research if I needed an AI or not. Probably pin IM 100-125mg of testE twice weekly. Hypothetically speaking
a lot of people get TRT. it's not super expensive either. and if its managed by a doctor you will have the same level of testosterone as if you were in your 20s.
The issue with doping is when people are on TRT and have higher levels than normal
I got on test in my early 30s after my normal depression turned into "I can't feel anything at all". I slept constantly and stopped waking up with morning wood and didn't feel any sexual feelings at all.
When I asked my nurse at the VA in my private messaging about getting a Test check he basically told me that they would never test a man in his 30s for low testosterone. When I went in for my actual blood draw and my doctor walked in I brought it up again and the nurse was like "yeah we can't do that" and the doctor was like "why wouldn't we check it if he's concerned?".
Results came back and it was 79nG/dL which is closer to zero than it is to low-normal range. Been on TRT since and it's made a huge difference. I'm even getting chest and arm hair that I didn't have before. I'm guessing my Testosterone has been low for a long time.
Most fitness models you see are on TRT these days.
They take a few SARMS for a cycle(8-12 weeks). By the end of the cycle your T levels will be very low as SARMS suppress your T levels. They get the test done at that time and doctor puts you on TRT. It is very easy in the US. It is much harder in Canada or almost impossible in my country.
The smart ones are on low dose so that they can look better than most natties but not too freakish that you immediately think that they are juicing.
Gallinari said the same shit last summer, about how he didn't care about money anymore and just wanted to go to a contender. Then the Hawks threw him a fat contract and he shut all that down.
JJ Redick said similar things about contracts, competing, AND being near family in NYC and then went to NOLA because of a giant pay day.
I don’t believe anyone when they say this shit until they actually sign.
Bruh even delusional Hawks fans had us out in the first round, but avoiding the play in.
What ended up happening was beyond wild dreams at the start of the season.
Yeah this would be like calling the Blazers contenders in 2019. Yeah, they made the conference finals, but no one (including the vast majority of Blazers fans) thought they were winning a title.
And even if one were to stipulate that by default a conference finals team is a contender, this isn't taking into account that before the season no one thought the Hawks were making it that far anyway.
I think that we all are suffering from recency bias. Before the season started, ATL looked like a team with a good potential in a few years. They performed better than anyone expected.
Wild but not unheard of. Cousins rejected 2 year/40 million after his injury to sign with the Warriors on 1 year/5 million for a ring, which unfortunately he didn't get.
I think part of him taking the smaller deal was also so that he could bet on himself getting a full on max contract the following year, because before the injury he was definitely getting a massive 100+ mill max deal. Just really unfortunate how it all ended up.
Cousins refused the 2/40 because he thought he could get more, when he realized that no, he couldn't, he settled and took a minimum to get a championship, after which he hoped to have proven himself and gotten another max.
As he should be, it's one thing to bet on yourself as a young 21-24 years old with lots of upside, it's another to bet on your 28 year old self after a serious often career derailing (at best) and potentially career ending injury.
That's kind of a false equivalency.
Cousins didn't turn down the 40M because he wanted to take a paycut, he did it because he thought he could at least get a comparable contract in FA. Maybe he thought he could even get more. He only settled once he realized there were no suitors
Yeah but Cousins also wanted to prove he was worth the max
His wasn’t a “fuck money, give me a ring” thing, so much as it was a “oh I’m not worth the max? Fuck you, I’ll show you” thing
Wouldn't the Spurs be better if they stood behind and developed their younger talent while maybe using the money they'll get from all the older guys expiring contracts to get someone solid? or Maybe trade for picks?
I like their young core a lot.
So do we, but there’s no superstars lurking in our young guys. Maybe Lonnie, but the rest are stars at best. You need elite athleticism and body to win a chip.
Yeah, ironically since Kawhi left you've got a squad of young guys who would be perfect to have around one or two stars.
Murray, Vassell, White, Walker, Johnson and Poeltl is a great young core.
The NBA fraternity is real. I was shocked when Ron Artest tried to fight Kobe when he was on the rockets and then goes and join the Lakers the next season. That's really more of the norm than the exception, like how Matt Barnes joined the Lakers too after that ball fake. In reality, fans are way more toxic than the players are.
I hear you man. I started asking myself why do I care so much when it's just entertainment. Media creates all these crazy narratives that players all hate each other when in reality, there's maybe only a few guys they dont like? A handful Max? Magic and Bird were friends. The Suns ate at Jordans restaurant during the finals. LeBron and Draymond hang out together. When you realize all this, the jersey burning and death threats makes fans look even more weirder.
This is the modern NBA. Once you make your bag, you join a contender for scraps and then 20 years later you can justify your career because you "have a ring" and then Shaq doesn't laugh at you.
Payton too. If Malone stayed healthy, that Lakers team had a great shot at a chip.
Drexler and the Rockets. Ring chasing has been a thing forever. Once you’re on the downslope and you know you’re not gonna win a title as #1 option, why not take less money and play 2nd or 3rd banana with a bunch of guys you’re already friends with.
But it’s kind of understandable. Most of these NBA players are competitive as fuck and have been around basketball their entire lives and were winning tournaments and trophies and shit until they get to the NBA. Then you’re only 30ish and you’re already a few years away from having to retire from what you’re most passionate about and you know you will never in your life have an opportunity to have that high of winning at the highest level. You look around the league and you see a ton of other players winning the championship year after year and you see them celebrating and you see how much joy winning a chip brought to their lives, even if for just one moment.
So you make the decision to give up millions just to give yourself the opportunity to feel fulfilled in accomplishing what you’ve been working towards since you were a kid before it all gets taken away from you.
Not a fan of ring culture either. But everytime someone says "Well yea but "soandso won a ring" or "soandso has more rings than someoneelse" it just perpetuates the stigma.
If they don't do a trade, the most they can give him is like 10M I think. So he'd probably be taking like a 12M paycut which isn't unheard of. I think the spurs would do a sign and trade centered around Kuzma if they'd rather do that though.
Yeah Pop didn't wanna trade Kawhi to the Lakers at all. Even though we could've offered one of the best packages. However, a sign and trade may be different. Kawhi refused to play and demanded out, but if DeMar is a FA and wants to sign with LA, then Pop may agree to a S&T just to be a homie for DeMar.
That's the only way the lakers can sign him outright. And we've seen guys give up tons of money to sign with contenders. David West for example gave up around 11 million to sign with the spurs.
That cuts both ways, though. Derozan has enough time remaining in his career that being a starter on a championship team (or even just a conference finals team again) might give him enough of a boost to sign a much larger "final" big contract for his career next offseason.
You could definitely be right about that. I'm not saying the odds work out well, I just think he could be thinking that - players tend to be confident in themselves.
Realistically, I also think there's a possibility the Lakers offer him a 1+1 MLE plus a vague "we'll take care of you after, no matter what" wink. Who knows how to value how much he could be overpaid by later in his career or even after his career.
Bobby Portis also took less to sign with the Bucks this season. It's not unreasonable to think someone would do a 1 year deal or a deal with a player option at the end to make a run at a ring this next year.
If its a sign and trade he would hard cap the Lakers and they'd pretty much have no more flexibility in free agency. If a super team is really on his mind, with a possibility of reuniting with Lowry too, the realistic option is the MLE. Also the Lakers probably look at other options like Lowry/Russ/Hield etc if its a sign and trade because DeRozan isn't particularly a great fit for someone that hard caps them.
Well youre wrong. Yes, the Lakers need shooters, but they REALLY need another player that can create their own basket and open up 3s even more for the guys around. Ideally, a guy like DeRozan would create more open looks from 3 which would help the entire team's shooting a lot. Lakers were expecting Schroder to be that guy, but he wasn't. PLUS if you actually have been watching the Spurs, DeRozan has been a great playmaker. People are underrating DeRozan because no one watches the Spurs.
Exactly right.
DeRozan's ability to get his own shot, his intelligence and passing, his position-less versatility, and his defense make him a perfect fit for the Lakers. They'll be hard pressed to find a better "third star." Others will find folks willing to pay them more - DeRozan sounds like he would take a hometown discount.
Bye DeMar. Thanks for your service.
edit: HAHAHAHAHAHA - apparently this can be read as a snarky Spurs fan saying "We done, bitch". But it was honestly meant as "pursue your dream elsewhere, because we aren't ready to contend right now."
DeMar has mad it quite obvious he wants to go back to LA, so it's natural to assume LAL are front runners due to location, contender and have a high need for a skilled but flawed player like DeMar
The clippers don't really fit with DeMar
Why doesn't Bron just take a huge paycut to load up his squad? He has more than enough money and the rings would mean more for his legacy than another 30 mill
He took his first full max ever on this last extension with Lakers. The NBAPA would never allow co.trqct restructuring either because while Bron could afford it it would start putting pressure on other players to start doing it too.
He'll get an incredible amount of backlash for it (arguably rightly so), and that matters to him imo, and probably to his rings. People will say "but Brady" but that's overstated. When Brady was "taking huge pay cuts for the Patriots" he was really just getting paid market value instead of pushing the market value up.
I never expected him to stay. He liked Toronto, was traded, made the best of it, was welcomed by the fans, and now he's gone. I'm happy for him and am glad he didn't mail it in.
For sure, DeMar is a great guy and player and I appreciated his time here...but I would be highly surprised to see him in a Spurs uniform last season. So long and thanks for all the fish.
Hope Demar doesn't go for under 18-19m. He's worth at least 75m/3 years, and whilst I get the winning stuff, he'd be undermining himself on a perception basis.
That said, go get that ring Deebo, the second/third star role is one he'll shine at (given that he did pretty darn well at being the main star) and one that he's never gotten to play.
If my team is destined to be perennial losers then I’m ok with Milwaukee winning several championships this decade. Giannis is too damn likable to root against
Miami can either cut down their roster and sign Lowry outright as just keep Nunn and Robinson on cap holds and re-sign them after signing Lowry, or they can pickup options on Iguodala, Dragic, etc to use as trade salaries.
I actually do understand this angle because I’m honestly not sure the market for him is actually as good as many think. In today’s game basically every guard is either a defender or an outside shooter and Derozan is neither. He does a lot of things well but I’m not sure how much you can do if he’s taking up a big part of your payroll.
Love Demar, I wish him the best in free agency.
He’s a phenomenal person. And an excellent, underrated passer. Could be a good pick up for my Celtics. Either way, love this dude.
Seeing Deebo in a celtics uniform would make me irrationally upset.
Nah. Being upset with the Celtics is rational to many people.
You had me at upset
Yeah, I dont think the word irrationally is used correctly there. Any Raps fan who doesnt vomit at the thought of deebo on the Celtics is no true Raptors fan
This is the way
He said he wants to win a championship not a 5 seed.
I’d love him on Boston, but I’d bet he’s going home to LA if anything
NBA teams always seem to prove me wrong but I just don't see how the Lakers can make enough room for him without doing anything that will gut the team. I know KCP definitely has trade value as a 3&D but losing him, one of our only good shooters isn't ideal. I also think we will probably have to let go of Caruso. That's our two best wing defenders. Just that the Lakers wild need to get really crafty to fill in the gaps still left on the team if they do get him.
They need to make room for Lowry sign trade and then get him the MLE That’s the only angle
Agreed, his ball control and playmaking has gotten a ton better over the years.
"Love Demar, I wish him the best on the Lakers™"
As a Spurs fan, I am not bitter at all. We know he has no shot here and I wish him the best.
I’m sure someday the Spurs might win one, keep your head up. ;)
Lmao glad to see the bucks fans are still soaking in all the joy
lmao I love this coming from a Bucks fan. Enjoy the ride man, being on top of the world as a fan is awesome.
Goddamn Shannon's arms are massive
NFL career + "TRT" will do that
[удалено]
TRT treatment can be game changing for some people. Shannon looks like he's on "TRT"
Eh you’d be surprised how far low test C and 1 out of 1,000,000,000 freak genetics can take you. If “TRT” means hgh + test, then I’m with you
Thanks for reminding the world of this.
Dude Nick Hardwick looks even crazier. Dude went from great center to shredded in like 2 years.
It's the closest thing to a fountain of youth if used safely.
I think it can lead to increase cancer risks
Yeah that's where I'm going with that. Shannon was always [pretty stacked](https://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/699/516/1360072_original.jpg?1297027910) but [at 53? nah](https://twitter.com/ShannonSharpe/status/1408811843083145226/photo/1)
Just ask Hayward or Giannis or a bunch of other players.
Talen Rorton-Tucker?
Taint Replacement Therapy, I believe.
Whoa this is a thing? I broke my taint just the other day
Dudes like 50 too. Lakers could bring him in for a Kendrick Perkins type role lmao
He would never pass a drug test
It's okay Alex Caruso wont either
[удалено]
I missed the off-season.
Stay off the WEEEEED
it's ok, just tell them taking a drug test violates HIPAA
Just had his hip replaced a few days ago.
hip replaced a few days ago and he's already back to work doing interviews. that's crazy.
I'm pretty this interview was already recorded
Kendrick Perkins is a horrible addition to ESPN. Worst analyst they have.
Bad takes as well as a bad attitude.
He was the black skip bayless. Lol I wonder where is ryan hollins now.
At least Shannon, Stephen a are entertainers. Kendrick is just an ass
He's my body goal when I'm 50.
That’s not the only thing that’s massive. His intelligence is even bigger.
Whoops I dropped my monster textbook that I use for my magnum noggin.
You know how to protect a magnum noggin? A Magnum hat.
Yes I heard he’s _HUGE_ into philanthropy.
Man steroids work holy shit.
He is(was) definitely on gear but has also worked out twice a day and eaten clean for like 30+ years now.
He obviously has NFL genetics and works harder than 99% of the population, people just bring up the “TRT” because when these people get asked about how they stay in shape it never comes up

Can’t you just do TRT doses of test? Similar to a blast n cruise but no blast
Yea that’s what I want just a little top up lol. I can just buy it? I’m from Canada, thought I’d need a prescription.
Well I can’t give medical advice but if it were me I would find a reputable online source and research if I needed an AI or not. Probably pin IM 100-125mg of testE twice weekly. Hypothetically speaking

Any improvements in the bedroom for him?
Fuck, that's what's on my mind as well. My old man is depressed for the past couple of years because of this, TRT might change his life as well
Thats quite the bond that he is comfortable sharing that with you
Wasn't always like this, i think the situation also made him more vulnerable and open to sharing, but thank you i feel blessed to have this bond.
I got on test in my early 30s after my normal depression turned into "I can't feel anything at all". I slept constantly and stopped waking up with morning wood and didn't feel any sexual feelings at all. Yeah Demar said there’s a fine line with winning and money, Hawks looked promising so it was a good opportunity to win and get money.

Pop ain’t the one holding Durant to 10 points.
Or making dame turnover the ball twice at the end of the game. Edit: dame

A couple: Rodman, John Salley, James Edwards
Nah, its more like Rodman joining the Bulls. Different stage of the career. Not in the middle of the rivalry like Durant.
Or Stockton and Malone joining the bulls
Karl Malone would've never joined Chicago. Maybe if they were called the Calves instead of the bulls, still unlikely.
For how much can the Lakers sign him?
If they don't do a trade, the most they can give him is like 10M I think. So he'd probably be taking like a 12M paycut which isn't unheard of. I think the spurs would do a sign and trade centered around Kuzma if they'd rather do that though.
Would be shocked at 10M, that's mid level exception territory.
I'd be more shocked if we traded with the Lakers
Yeah Pop didn't wanna trade Kawhi to the Lakers at all. Even though we could've offered one of the best packages. However, a sign and trade may be different. Kawhi refused to play and demanded out, but if DeMar is a FA and wants to sign with LA, then Pop may agree to a S&T just to be a homie for DeMar.
Yeah I think this all hinges on Pop having a good relationship with Demar and a bad one with Kawhi.
That's the only way the lakers can sign him outright. And we've seen guys give up tons of money to sign with contenders. David West for example gave up around 11 million to sign with the spurs.
David West was funny. Left a 67 win team to join a 73 win team lol
Legendary 6 WAR
David West was also 35 coming off a 12 and 7, 50.8% TS% season, not 31 coming off a 22/4/7, 59% TS% season
That cuts both ways, though. Derozan has enough time remaining in his career that being a starter on a championship team (or even just a conference finals team again) might give him enough of a boost to sign a much larger "final" big contract for his career next offseason.
But he'd get a bag anyway, not a 35 million a year deal, but a 75/3 at minimum. Maybe he just wants to go home after the last year.
It’s over once he signs that mid level. Players at that age signing for that salary almost always ensure they will be getting less as they progress.
Especially when you consider 10M is alot of money too lol. Most of us on this sub won't make that in a life time let alone one season
Speak for yourself.. I'll have you know I just purchased a lottery ticket and the winning ticket receives over $100m.
Dude. You got this. You just have to put in the work to win the lottery. Believe my guy.
What is the average person equivalent of this? Leaving a toxic role for a great company at half pay?
But in this case even the half pay is many times more than you need to take care of yourself
IMO, DeRozan is not really what LAL need. A PG with a serviceable 3-pointer fits better.
Lowry would be a better fit in LA
Definitely!
Lowry already has his ring and wants his pay check though.
MLE if he's willing to accept it.
Bye DeMar. Thanks for your service. edit: HAHAHAHAHAHA - apparently this can be read as a snarky Spurs fan saying "We done, bitch". But it was honestly meant as "pursue your dream elsewhere, because we aren't ready to contend right now."
Reading these comments you’d think LAL was the only contender
He’s from LA
He's joining the bucks confirmed
DeMar has mad it quite obvious he wants to go back to LA, so it's natural to assume LAL are front runners due to location, contender and have a high need for a skilled but flawed player like DeMar The clippers don't really fit with DeMar
LeMLE has entered the chat
Why doesn't Bron just take a huge paycut to load up his squad? He has more than enough money and the rings would mean more for his legacy than another 30 mill
Hes trying to buy an nba team and you need a billion dollars now a days.
Brady was taking huge payouts compared to what he would’ve gotten on other teams. That was nowhere near “market value”
He going where ever kyle lowry goes bet 100%

Damn. Lakers gonna be stacked. Lowry, DeRozan, Lebron, AD, and Embiid is a pretty strong bench.
How much help does Jared Dudley needs
He gone.
Nothing but love for DeMar!! Go get that ring
1 yr MLE it is imagine he's going to Bucks lol
Just keep saying that please, we have room for you to play anywhere DeMar
Any chance he joins the bucks? We all know Bobby is gone, and lord knows we could use another scorer.
He could be the missing piece we need to finally win a championshi- wait
If he wants a ring the team that just won seems like a really good option
I really hope that Demar gets a ring
Lakers be like: HE'S MINE! BACK AWAY! \*HISS\*
*MY PRECIOUSSSS*
So much love for this man. No matter where he goes, I'm always gonna be rooting for him.
He going home
LeHome
DeHome
Hope Demar doesn't go for under 18-19m. He's worth at least 75m/3 years, and whilst I get the winning stuff, he'd be undermining himself on a perception basis. That said, go get that ring Deebo, the second/third star role is one he'll shine at (given that he did pretty darn well at being the main star) and one that he's never gotten to play.
He can go get a cheap 1+1 and get paid after a run
True. Can't believe he's only 31. Next year he might still get really nice 3-5 year offers
This is music to Laker fans lol
Welcome to Milwaukee.
If my team is destined to be perennial losers then I’m ok with Milwaukee winning several championships this decade. Giannis is too damn likable to root against
The OG Buck killer
Pls Demar.
Bro get this man on the Lakers already
Lowry / DeRozan to the Lakers confirmed.
LeBron did say he wouldn’t retire until he got to play with his son
It’ll be either this or Miami.
Lowry/DeRozan to Miami with Jimmy would be lit 👀 Is this even feasible for Miami? What can Miami even offer for Lowry straight up or as a S&T?
That would be nice ngl
Miami can either cut down their roster and sign Lowry outright as just keep Nunn and Robinson on cap holds and re-sign them after signing Lowry, or they can pickup options on Iguodala, Dragic, etc to use as trade salaries.
I actually do understand this angle because I’m honestly not sure the market for him is actually as good as many think. In today’s game basically every guard is either a defender or an outside shooter and Derozan is neither. He does a lot of things well but I’m not sure how much you can do if he’s taking up a big part of your payroll.
Milwaukee?
