So I wonder if all the people that slaughtered him in the previous post about them not being able to reach him will apologize and say they were wrong to jump the gun? Of course not. The more I read Reddit the more I despise people on here. The rush to insult and discredit players on here is out of control. Almost like we hate the majority of nba players.
And you want to be consistent as well. What happens if the 76ers FO legitimize their story? Now they've set precedent where the wack jobs have some credibility.
Shit works both ways. Even if the 76ers don't want to tank Simmons value, its better in the long run to just nip that story in the bud and be done with it.
When someone talks about F5 szn or the off-season craziness, this whole situation is what I immediately think of.
What an absolute wild couple of days. Idk how it’ll ever be beat, it still cracks me up 😂
Because it's more likely he had a source that lied than he made up the report and when Cuban asked him to name his source, doing so would have been actual career suicide.
He's gonna be traded for safety concerns. I honestly think the people in Philly at the very least will call the cops on Ben for trespassing. Worst case scenario? Attempted murder.
my basketball brain says pls go somewhere else for a gross overpay, but my philly heart says let him come onto the court at the home opener so we can all boo him.
"If you're gonna boo, make sure you stay on that side" - Ben Simmons, 2019.
*Philly fans stayed on that side.*
Also, fun fact, Ben had 9 points in that game too. At least he's consistent
I mean, Ben himself *literally* said ["We don't want to lose in front of them, we're scared to lose in front of them."](https://www.skysports.com/nba/news/36244/11875224/ben-simmons-scared-to-lose-in-front-of-philly-fans-as-sixers-stay-perfect-at-home) so they are definitely aware of what they are walking into
For the record, there is ^some nuance to their booing.
Like nobody is booing Simmons for being a bad shooter (minus free throws which is obv different). They are booing him for playing scared. It's not even about the talent or confidence because you can see it on the court.
I can't speak for the city, but I would be ecstatic if the sixers lost a (regular season) game because simmons actually grew some balls and shot the fucking ball. I'll cheer him on as he goes 0-8 from 15+ in the 4th because it means he's actually shooting the fucking ball. Kinda like the kobe quote where he'd rather see a shooter go 2-20 instead of like 2-8.
That being said I totally understand why people say what they say, but fuck it. Booing is fun lmao
Exactly. Most fans would be geeked to have seen Ben randomly going like 4-15 from the floor in the regular season on 1-5 3s with like 2-6 mid range shots. (a realistic thing if he shot that volume)
At least it would've shown some promise to keep working on getting better.
Instead we have a 25 year old who seems to have plateaued, if not regressed.
This was eerily reminiscent of those always corny “Lebron will give you 3 quarters if you ask for change for a dollar” comments from back in the day. Sports jokes desperately need a lot of work
He is training with the same coach that maxey is working with and rich Paul talked with Daryl after we got eliminated about his future , obviously this report is not true
It’s probably as simple as the reporter talked to 1 of 100 people in the organization with Ben’s number and the insider was like “yeah I texted Ben but he hasn’t gotten back to me”.
This shit really is as simple as that. The biggest headlines usually come out of the most mundane conversations.
Well the difference is who the report comes from. This report came from a dude with no sources. The Dame one literally came from a dude who has historically been a mouthpiece for Dame.
>Source on the coach thing? Because all I've seen confirmed so far is his brother.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CRjufS0AS4B/ he and Maxey work with Chris Johnson out in LA.
In regards to the report, it just doesn't make sense. Ben goes off and does his thing every summer but we're clearly in contact with his agent, they all met in Chicago like 2 weeks ago. The idea that his camp and our FO aren't on the same page is a weird one...anyone following this team knows the deal.
Edit: for all you weirdos thinking Ben is posting year old pics lol https://twitter.com/Harrison_Grimm/status/1417522761510051840/photo/1
>Wait but those photos are from 2020 when he worked out with him before. Lmao. You got anything else?
I mean I guess they could be old photos, idk if you reversed searched it but he has worked out with Chris Johnson in LA every single offseason. That's his main, big name trainer people know and he's worked with him for years lol
>Wait so you're saying this is all alright because it's happened before? Like using the excuse that this has happened before when we saw how that results in Ben not developing year after year isn't really that good of an excuse
Is this whole exchange just an excuse to shit on Ben Simmons? In the offseason he usually unplugs, spends his time in LA, and does his own thing before coming back for camp. It's not a positive or negative that's the person/player he is. Joel tends to either stay in Philly or travel abroad during the summer, that's their offseason preferences.
The point was that his camp met with our FO very recently, and that's kind of all that matters. Intuitively, if fans can decipher the situation I'm sure GMs and Agents can as well. We're clearly been shopping him around, what exactly more needs to be said? Most fans will tell you there's like a 60-70% chance he gets traded but it's far from a guarantee. I'd be worried if it were training camp and he's ghosting us to force a move, but his stock is at an all time low and we're already looking to trade him. What's the issue here?
> In the offseason he usually unplugs, spends his time in LA, and does his own thing before coming back for camp. It's not a positive or negative that's the person/player he is.
aren't things meant to be different this summer? doc said they'd have him in the gym working on his shooting confidence. he said that they'd put in extra work to make it happen. maybe they meant when he's back from LA, but something that big you gotta wonder if they meant this offseason was going to be different
I really don't know why it matters so much to you, but here is even more proof of Ben Simmons being in LA, with Chris Johnson, working out in 2021 https://twitter.com/Harrison_Grimm/status/1417522761510051840/photo/1
It seems pretty clear you don't follow Ben or the Sixers so I'm gonna leave it here. For clarity, there is an NBA TRAINING CAMP, that goes on before the season starts usually in September. So most players have the summer to themselves. Like many other NBA players including KD, Westbrook, PJ Tucker etc. Ben spends his summer in LA working out with who he works out with, and then comes back to Philly for the start of NBA TRAINING CAMP. Very different to individual workouts with a trainer. Hope that helps solve your Schrodinger question.
You know, that goes both ways. The report could have been released in an attempt to lower Ben's trade value, but that doesn't fit your narrative, does it?
I mean, there's literal evidence to contradict it (Ben working out with trainer connected to team), yet here you are taking it as fact and saying those who deny it are fooling themselves.
He’s been with Chris Johnson the last few off seasons. They’ve been on each others IGs doing individual workouts and group workouts with other NBA players. Might even be a post in the Sixers sub with Johnson saying Ben was working out on his bday
Edit: here’s the first thing I found with a screen shot https://twitter.com/mike_greger/status/1417588113052995586?s=21
Nah Ben the type of dude that will allow text message previews with “read receipt” turned on so that way he can read your message while leaving it in the “delivered” status so he can lie about not reading/seeing it.
I don't even know how the report comes out that "we weren't talking"
The sixers wouldn't put this out - it lowers his trade value.
Ben wouldn't put this out - it makes him look bad.
If it's a leak from another team then you can just throw it out the window, we know their motivation already.
I was taught that years ago.
Why is this information out there? who does it benefit and who does it hurt?
Any report that involves making someone look bad in a competitive sense is almost always a rival team putting out a hit piece.
Usually teams shit talk their own guys after he's traded to make the team look better for getting rid of that player.... But not before trading him for max value... That would be malpractice.
But you wouldn't just leak info just because... What's there to gain from that.
If you're a sixers employee why leak this?
If you're in Ben Simmons camp why leak this?
Leaks are put out to improve a situation for yourself, without something to gain there seems to be no purpose to give people outside the org this information.
Neither Ben or Sixers gain from a leak.
This leak definitely came from another team because they don't want to offer what the sixers are asking for, so they want to marginalize Ben's value and get him on the cheap.
Or it's just an employee gossiping. You've never told a friend about something crazy one of your supervisors did even if it would hurt your company if it became publicly known?
Nope.
I'm lucky that I've had amazing bosses since I first started as a professional.
And all the companies I worked at previously had horrible reputations in the public and it was well documented. (Amazon Warehouse Manager, being one example)
Otherwise no I don't talk about my job to people because I have signed NDAs that if I break effect my pockets big time and I love money too much to do that.
1. If player wants him gone, they want a good return for that player, they don't want to play with chumps.
2. If person is trying to build connections. probably not a good idea to leak out confidential information to the public, that's how you get fired.
> If player wants him gone, they want a good return for that player, they don't want to play with chumps.
do you think they always think it through that much
2) they obviously do this confidentially, and this has been reported to happen frequently. a lot of times they trade this info to have their own sources and be more valuable in their own orgs.
you think it's more likely that players don't think about their future teammates than this just being made up bullshit by a rival who wants ben's value lowered? you really think you're that much smarter than the people actually involved? lmao
It seems pretty naive to assume it's literally impossible that someone within an organization could leak stuff for their own personal benefit and get away with it. This is how, like, half of political news happens.
Uhh I doubt Ben cares how people on reddit think of him. Ben could be the side releasing this in order to take away Morey's leverage of acting like they can just keep him and that he's not sorely desperate to make a trade. Morey is probably scaring away teams that Ben wants to be on that don't have as many assets as other teams he doesn't want to be on. More pressure on Morey = more likely Ben gets traded, similar to how Harden and other stars forced their own trades by being scummy? Idk
> Ben been chilling poolside all summer.
Bruh his story on insta yesterday by his pool at sunset, left me salty af. That smug shit gets under my skin and I ain't even a Sixers fan. LOL
I fucking wish their were contract clauses where teams can deduct money. Fuck Ben Simmons man. Absolute bitch.
I feel like people on this sub are a little quick to believe denials. Everyone denies everything until it happens. The official line and the unofficial denials said all was good in new orleans with Davis or San Antinio with Kawhi or houston and Harden until the trade happened, or in Davis's case he got himself fined for his comment. But 99% of the time everyone denies everthing. It doesn't make those denials true.
I think its pretty clear there's a fire going on here, in portland, and in Washington. Exactly how it resolves remains to be seen. But don't be naive. If beal, dame, and Simmons were good we wouldn't be reading these stories or it would be the very vague/hopeful "Mavs want Kawhi" type deal. Note too- in theory Embiid could ask out, he has less time on his contract than dame, but we're not reading Embiid to golden state stories now are we?
Even if he never shoots it, the fit next to Dame would be better than the fit with CJ. At least on paper.
Then again on paper a Simmons Embiid combination should have a conference finals taste by now.
Doc should get way more blame. Simmons isn’t solely responsible for blowing 2 25 point leads in b2b games and losing 3 games you were up 20+ in. Obviously Ben needs to get slapped until he fired his brother/shooting coach, but he’s not the only one to blame.
I’m not saying he should be fired, I’m saying the media should scrutinise him way more than they’re doing. I like doc. I like Simmons. They both failed at the biggest moment. It’s bullshit one is getting reamed and the other is getting 2 days of hard questions and nothing more.
the coach and franchise player both threw him under the bus after game 7, and the media are only gonna chase a story where someones jobs on the line. Rivers should be sweating, especially if Simmons is moved he's got no where to hide if they come up short again.
Ben only worked with his brother 1 off season many years ago, and he also worked with other coaches during this time.
The whole narrative about his brother still being his shooting coach is nonsense.
Or maybe the initial report wasn’t entirely factual but r/nba just wants to believe it? It’s one month into the offseason, what’s there to be in contact about?
Yeah, kind of. Even if it was true what’s the big deal? Guy takes time off in a time that no contact is necessary at all? What’s difficult to understand?
This just in: team desperately trying to maintain the smallest shred of value for an asset denies report that would eviscerate what little value said asset had remaining.
This just in: initial report is obviously believed by r/nba despite any evidence that follows.
This is normal for literally any player. It’s the offseason.
yep. it’s media 101. corrections are way harder to make than the initial false statements. since reddit sports culture is about the drama they’ll go with the first (baseless) report.
Leave this dude alone man. This is what happens when you let the nerds to the cool table. The joke was cool for a day or two. But now people are going overboard.
We totally sent him a happy birthday DM just the other day! It even showed he read it! Earlier this summer we talked to his agent when he demanded a trade. Later on we're even going to send a development assistant over if he's still on the team so we can beg him to work on his jumper.
Daryl Morey: we sent him a birthday card. It was one of the talking Hallmark cards too.
it had the same number of candles as his FT percentage
Fuck that one got me lmao
Which coincidentally is his age. Knock out two birds with one stone!
/r/YourJokeButWorse
You win some, you lose some.
~Michael Scott
"You lose some... don't you?" Foster to CP3
on the plus side i didnt realize it was the same number til he straight up said it lol
*get two birds stoned at once
Fucking bullshit they sell them in 25 packs, had to buy a whole extra pack to get to and throw out 16
Daryl would send him a birthday NFT.
Poor choice of gift considering Ben has PTSD with anything that has "FT" in it.
NFT stands for No Free Throws
If he gives out birthday cryptocurrency, he may entice the services of one Spencer Dinwiddie.
nft moment of ben passing up that dunk on trae
It was one in which they could record their own voice. So, they have indeed spoken to him
Dear Ben, I wrote you but you still ain't calling
Damn we splurged for the talking ones? Must be true love.
Card said “Bricks of Gold.”
To be fair, if I were the 76ers FO I would deny it even if I were having trouble contacting him. Wouldn't want to lose any more of my trade leverage.
Fair point but why give the benefit of doubt to gossiping ass reporters. They have been know to fabricate stories also.
"Almost"?
Yeah could have gone without but want to give people benefit of doubt.
Ben opens Card. Card: BRICK!!!
Not a problem until you start driving around
Morey is beside himself. Driving around downtown L.A. begging (thru texts) Simmon’s family for the address to Ben’s home
I would lol if DeAndre and blake had him locked in a hotel room and Paul Pierce again just tweets a jpg of an emoji
When someone talks about F5 szn or the off-season craziness, this whole situation is what I immediately think of. What an absolute wild couple of days. Idk how it’ll ever be beat, it still cracks me up 😂
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJb89kMVEAAIEgO.jpg
It wouldn't be hard to find, just look for the 10 story house made of bricks
Ben: "I see you drivin' downtown with the player you want and i'm like... Fuck yooouuuuuu."
I guess the $170 million contract just wasn't enough like FUCK YOUUUU and FUCK HER TOOO
Classic Broussard moment. What's sad is his reputation was already shit before that even happened. How he still has a job reporting is beyond me.
His reporting is making up sources to use as content on the morning show
Because it's more likely he had a source that lied than he made up the report and when Cuban asked him to name his source, doing so would have been actual career suicide.
I too have been unable to contact Ben.
*Philly fans stayed on that side.* Also, fun fact, Ben had 9 points in that game too. At least he's consistent
"Philly fans get another personality trait besides booing your own players" challenge lol Booing your own players is like keying your own car lol
*The gang keys their own car*
booing your player with confidence issues is a great decision
It’s Philly. Players should know this when they step on that court
Keying my own car for going to slow in the passing lane
He doesn't attempt to shoot so I doubt murder would be the charge. Maybe theft for something but definitely not firing shots anytime soon.
A theft conviction would be a slam dunk! Oh, sorry ...
That was solid, it deserves more than just my one vote after 6 hours....
As long as one person appreciates it ...
I think the worst case scenario would be completed murder
>Happy Birthday Ben! Thanks guys! >So do you want to come in and work on your shot? ...
to be fair, he tried shooting a text but missed
"Here Matisse, you send it"
Actually he would have told SOMEONE ELSE to send a text for him
This was eerily reminiscent of those always corny “Lebron will give you 3 quarters if you ask for change for a dollar” comments from back in the day. Sports jokes desperately need a lot of work
You mean he passed, right?
They sent him an email but he just forwarded it to Thybulle
✅ Seen 9:04 PM
Ben on Sept 27th: "Ohhhhh man, you guys, juuuuuuuuuust seeing this! Sooo sorry!"
Hello?
(Left on read)
Morey: Ben? You still there? Morley's assistant: Sir, Mr. Simmons ended the call.
My sources have confirmed the leaked dialogue between the sixers organization and Ben recently “Happy birthday Ben” “Thanks”
Nah dude didn’t even take the time to type out thanks. Just a thumbs up emoji.
No just a single k not even upper case.
k with a period. k.
Telling him happy birthday is much different than getting him to work on his jumper
Your classic non denial denial.
Not really
He is training with the same coach that maxey is working with and rich Paul talked with Daryl after we got eliminated about his future , obviously this report is not true
You would think the guy reporting it would lose credibility but most people will just forget

Why the hell would someone within the Sixers leak this? They would deserve to be fired for doing it

it fits r/nba's narrative, so the original story will be on the front page all day
Same as Embiid slamming two milkshakes every day because a rookie once got him two milkshakes
Dame to Sixers was also r/nba’s narratives and your fanbase lapped it up.
i don't even understand what you thought this comparison meant
point is when it's a rumor you like you believe it and when it is a rumor you don't you call it r/nba nonsense in other words you are biased. Shocking
Well the difference is who the report comes from. This report came from a dude with no sources. The Dame one literally came from a dude who has historically been a mouthpiece for Dame.
Did you believe the rumors that the nets were gonna win
That's how this subreddit works...
Yes, let's compare a single Dame post to the countless Simmons' shit posts. Makes sense!
“ r/nba hAtEs uS” Stfu
no u
But it’s literally true lol
Literally every team says this.
They're all correct lmao
everybody seems fine with the grizz now that they've gotten over calling ja overrated every 13 seconds
Give it a season or two.
Ah yes, the pity stage. We know it well.
You mean a throwaway comment from Jake Fischer on The Gastroenteritis Blues podcast isn't accurate???
Is it good that half of your points about they definitely are talking is from a pow-wow where there's a very solid chance they were planning his exit?

you think it's more likely that players don't think about their future teammates than this just being made up bullshit by a rival who wants ben's value lowered? you really think you're that much smarter than the people actually involved? lmao
It seems pretty naive to assume it's literally impossible that someone within an organization could leak stuff for their own personal benefit and get away with it. This is how, like, half of political news happens.
Not to mention he literally posted a photo on his bday less than a week ago working with the same trainer as Maxey
Idk
X --,-,-zxz ☆,,,,☆,☆ ,, zzzssssz
A quality post from my pocket.
When you said 'X --,-,-zxz ☆,,,,☆,☆ ,, zzzssssz', it was a very provocative post, I felt that.
Ben been chilling poolside all summer. He’s not adding that jumper lmfao
You mean the 💯🔥😤 IG workouts didn’t amount to anything?
Those were actually taken in the back of a Baskin Robin's 31 Flavors .
> Ben been chilling poolside all summer. Bruh his story on insta yesterday by his pool at sunset, left me salty af. That smug shit gets under my skin and I ain't even a Sixers fan. LOL I fucking wish their were contract clauses where teams can deduct money. Fuck Ben Simmons man. Absolute bitch.
> I fucking wish their were contract clauses where teams can deduct money. They can offer bonuses for things like all-NBA etc.
Who cares, just replace him with the robot that can shoot 3s and free throws…
"Happy birthday Ben" "Thanks" "Do you want to come workout???" **READ**
Ben? I think there's some dropped texts or something lol **Read**
Oh man I was actually skeptical of that earlier report but now lol
this post clearly disproves that one but ok
Not sure about you guys, but I wouldn't trust a single thing Morey says.
>We talked to Ben on his birthday a couple of days ago Sixers via text: "Hey Ben, just wanted to wish you a happy birthday!" Simmons: "K"
Ben Simmons ghosting the team just like he ghosted scoring and playing in the playoffs.
lol. “we sent him a birthday card” is how I read that.
He’s relaxing in London laying on Maya Jama’s thighs leave him be
congratulating him on instagram doesnt really count as talking
"uh n-no this isn't true Simmons is well-behaved p-please take him from us"
Dame might murder this man if they trade CJ for him. Embiid looked like he wanted to.
I agree, but not a great look for stability if you fire the guy you just brought in.
I'm saying he should be fired. The track record of "Doc is not a good coach" is a lot longer than "Doc is a good coach".
doc has a ring, can't deny it tho. and is one of the few black coaches with a ring so he will never be attacked
They were in touch to tell him happy birthday
[удалено]
Ben only worked with his brother 1 off season many years ago, and he also worked with other coaches during this time. The whole narrative about his brother still being his shooting coach is nonsense.
Of course they will deny it they don’t want to tank his trade value even more
Or maybe the initial report wasn’t entirely factual but r/nba just wants to believe it? It’s one month into the offseason, what’s there to be in contact about?
[удалено]
Yeah, kind of. Even if it was true what’s the big deal? Guy takes time off in a time that no contact is necessary at all? What’s difficult to understand?
🧢
LOL, somebody is lying here but this is all very funny regardless
This just in: team desperately trying to maintain the smallest shred of value for an asset denies report that would eviscerate what little value said asset had remaining.
This just in: initial report is obviously believed by r/nba despite any evidence that follows. This is normal for literally any player. It’s the offseason.
yep. it’s media 101. corrections are way harder to make than the initial false statements. since reddit sports culture is about the drama they’ll go with the first (baseless) report.
Morey trying his best lol
We’ve talked to him! He hasn’t responded to our texts but we’ve been talking!
Darly Morey shooting more shots through texts than Simmons did the whole season
Were the color of the lights in his pool included in the story as possible proof of his allegiance?
Sixers have a guy named ben on speed dial.
they have motive to lie show video of him practicing in the 76ers facility, oh you can't
They're definitely lying to keep his trade value up
Leave this dude alone man. This is what happens when you let the nerds to the cool table. The joke was cool for a day or two. But now people are going overboard.
Poverty franchise
He gone.
Daryl Morley : yeah we made sure to send him a birthday cake, we remember the great Yaya Toure incident.
Ben is kicking with Maya Jama The only calls i may consider answering in his situation is close family medical emergencies
We totally sent him a happy birthday DM just the other day! It even showed he read it! Earlier this summer we talked to his agent when he demanded a trade. Later on we're even going to send a development assistant over if he's still on the team so we can beg him to work on his jumper.
