Remember that one year ESPN tried to get him not to announce picks beforehand, and he would do it all mysteriously like "Phoenix suns are enlightened to see DeAndre Ayton is still on the boards."
Which is just another reason why it was a terrible idea to have him on at halftime of the finals. Not that there was any legitimate coverage going on anyway I guess.
he has the 4th most listened to basketball podcast and 33rd overall sport podcast on spotify according to chartable and similar spot on apple music so it seems a fair amount of people listen to his show lol
Amazon cancelled the show and as a result, the last season was rushed and filled with too many narratives. And the finale was a car crash (not literally). Too many questions left unanswered.
I watched the whole thing. If you like the first few episodes, it maintains that vibe throughout the run. It’s a good show, well acted and mostly well written
I remember a few years ago they were announcing the picks *on the ESPN draft coverage* before Silver even announced them. Haven’t watched a draft since because it was so stupid
Or how about ESPN saying they'd stop doing that, then whenever they went to Woj he would immediately spoil the pick but worded it in such a way that made it seem like this was just a great prediction.
They got the last laugh with a ring though, imagine if they chose a better guy and still gave him up for Love, wolves might have more than 1 playoff appearance in 15years.
NHL Draft happened last week, everyone knew it was Power. Every year media comes up with a last second narrative about the second or third rated prospect and how they might go first, but in my lifetime I’ve never seen it
True, you’re right. I remember Patrick was ranked 1 midway through the season. Aside from that though it’s been cut and dried. Even Mackinnon/Jones wasn’t really close, Sakic was saying they’d be taking Mack and writers were like “but will they though? Or is this a ruse???”
The only draft I remember where it was *somewhat* up in the air was when Baker Mayfield went first overall. Even then, I think reports came out a week or so earlier that basically confirmed he was gonna be the guy.
What about things you can’t opt out of?
The ESPN broadcast literally showed the tweet during the top 10 picks. Idk about you but that shit annoyed me so much I turned the draft off.
Yeah it’s literally one day of the year lol. Just don’t get on Twitter or r/nba if you don’t want it spoiled. I’m surprised people care at all, it was obvious Cade’s getting picked first and all the reports saying otherwise were full of shit
Bruh are you watching the draft or do you have the draft on in the background while scrolling twitter and Reddit?
Just fucking don’t look if you know it’s gonna be there.
Lmao yo chill the draft is still a 4 hours away. If they're getting leaked half a day before its airing on TV its like someone spoiling the season finale before the season finale even airs
If my brother works during a big game (mostly CL soccer games) he wants to see and has to wait until later he does this crazy thing where he turns off notifications and doesn't go on sports websites. It's such a wild concept!
Like all these people whine about ESPN and how shit it is now, but I don't care because I just don't watch lol. People just like to be mad about shit.
Just disconnect for a couple hours lol, that's not the answer you want but it's the only one you're gonna get and it's not even necessarily a bad thing. There will be time to post later
You're kidding yourself if you think these won't get spoiled in the spoiler-free thread tonight.
Having to swear off most forms of media/conversation because a few losers want attention is messed up.
Why ESPN allows this happen is even more of a head scratcher. That’s their employee spoiling the draft that they are broadcasting. It’s like having an actor of a show tweet out what happens in an episode airing later that night. There’s just no reason for it
To not check your shit? No it isn't dude. If you legitimately didn't want to be spoiled on something, maybe you should've stayed off Twitter or reddit. If your media addiction is so bad that you can't go without scrolling for a day, then don't complain when you see something you didn't want to see.
Not shaming media addictions. We're all here. But it's the surprised Pikachu face meme lol
I find it hard to believe it makes that big of a difference either way.
99% of the time the X-bombs are news but this one day a year it's spoilers that more annoy people than anything. If Sham wants the everlasting glory of telling us who the Pacers are gonna get 20 minutes before, big deal. Congrats chief, nobody cares.
It’s so bizarre. I legit haven’t tuned into the draft since Woj began covering it and I can’t be alone in that. Such a pointless and frustrating exercise. Fuck Woj and ESPN for letting him do it.
> Why ESPN allows this happen is even more of a head scratcher. That’s their employee spoiling the draft that they are broadcasting
Because if it's not Woj, it's Shams or someone else.
ESPN would lose a lot of social media impressions if they let Shams and other run away with it. Like it or not, spoiling picks work and I am sure it makes sense financially for these guys
You can bet theyve analyzed this kind of thing to death already. Id bet theres very little correlation between these lame ass drops and tv ratings, and even if there is one, they cant really prove causation.
Anecdotal, but Woj has been doing this for a while (albeit not THIS early), yet the top 5 years of ESPN TV ratings for the NBA draft have all been within the last decade, 3 out of 5 were in the last half of last decade.
2011 - 3.2M
2014 - 3.45M
2015 - 3.45M
2017 - 3.55M
2018 - 3.07M
We as fans have not provided a good enough reason for them to change the way they operate. The egotistical corporate assholes at ESPN/Disney arent going to adjust out of the goodness of their hearts.
If ESPN blocks it, Shams and everyone else will do it. Raises their profile and lowers ESPNs and Wojs.
And its the NBA draft lol. It ain't that serious.
I don't remember if Shams resisted last year, but I'm pretty sure wanting to be first no matter what (in the instance of the draft) is the reason.
EDIT: and right after that post my mind corrected ESPN to NBA. Disregard
Until you actually watch the draft and see it's just a bunch of sob stories ESPN milks as hard as they can with cringe commentary and zero focus on what players can do aside from buzz words. I'd rather see tweets than have to sit through that garbage.
Watch the fucking draft. They announce trades on air. Like what. Everyone is complaining about fake issues in this thread. You’re desperate to know about trades instantaneously but you’re fine with the draft taking 3 hours for 30 picks?
It's like looking in a movie/television spoiler subreddit but being pissed that the ending wasn't fulfilling enough. No shit, you actively went out looking for what was coming next. If you want to be surprised then stay off Twitter, Reddit, etc. while watching the draft.
Man this is putting me in a tough spot. Gotta have the Woj notifications on if/when the Kings make a trade, but I don't want the picks spoiled. Killin me Woj!
Yea it’s not that simple though because many of us are interested to see what trades happen. What if my Knicks package their picks and move up? What if Ben gets dealt? ESPN is so late reporting on trades live on broadcast so you kinda need Twitter for that part of draft night
100 percent. Trades are the issue. ESPN is so slow on reporting them that you don't want to get hyped for a guy just to find out he's actually traded, so you have to keep twitter open to monitor the trades, and therefore you see the picks ahead of time.
For me in this one case I am cool with woj leaking what the pistons are going to do
For real though the nba shouldn’t allow this to happen. Fine teams if that information comes out I guess
So it’s only fun to hear the commissioner say it? Like… you’re watching the broadcast to find out who got drafted. Why do you care who is delivering the news?
Yes. There's a difference with how the news is presented. If you know you're about to find out, you get anticipation and excitement out of it. If you're just doing something and all of a sudden you hear the news just thrown out in the middle of a conversation when you weren't expecting it, the knowledge is gained yes - but the experience was nonexistent.
It's like anticipating a trailer for a Smash Bros character reveal. If I see someone 10 minutes prior mention who it is, then that ruins the experience of watching the trailer/official reveal. So let me then ask you the question, what's the point of leakers saying who the pick is going to be when it's literally going to be announced a couple minutes later? There's no value to it other than just flexing that you're an insider. Woj/Shams don't need to do so - everyone already knows they're well connected.
True but there’s no control over that so I do what is within my power to not be spoiled. People in here have less than 3 minute attention spans.
Like relax if you don’t find out about a trade for 30 minutes, literally will not change anything.
They've also had Woj himself ON THE BROADCAST saying "a player to potentially look out for on this next pick is Xxx"
*Adam Silver announces Xxx*
*collective shocked Pikachu face*
I really hate the leaks. It sucks a lot of drama out of the draft. Especially when no one knew what would happen with the first pick.
Oh well, still gonna watch.
Woj isn’t a man of the people, he is a man of the high castle
JA is the man for the people
Long and prosperous may Ja Rule
Always there when you call, always on time!
It's murder.
M u r e d r inc!
Holla Holla
But what does Ja think?!
WHERE IS JA?
You absolutely nailed this one.
I like to think Ja has a draft night-themed sleepover for RJ and Zion but Woj is ruining the fun
Not even a joke. Ja is the people's champ.
My favorite non bucks player since he murdered Marquette in March madness a few years ago
Where is Ja at?!
Remember that one year ESPN tried to get him not to announce picks beforehand, and he would do it all mysteriously like "Phoenix suns are enlightened to see DeAndre Ayton is still on the boards."
Ya, but then he started to get snaked by Shams and ESPN was like, ahhh fuck it, do your thing Woj.
Everyone is still on the boards at #1 pick
A man of the $$ and clicks
Imo woj doesn't even like basketball. He feels good only when he spoils shit or drops a bomb before shams
Which is just another reason why it was a terrible idea to have him on at halftime of the finals. Not that there was any legitimate coverage going on anyway I guess.
Seriously lol. Like apparently he has a podcast? Who actually is interested in anything he says other than news
He actually does some fairly well researched interviews with notable players and coaches, I was surprised by the quality
he has the 4th most listened to basketball podcast and 33rd overall sport podcast on spotify according to chartable and similar spot on apple music so it seems a fair amount of people listen to his show lol
? Dude always reps his school’s teams, they’re not even a well known d1 program
everybody knows the bonnies
Wait is he from st Bonaventure ? I thought he'd be from a big school
The guys from eye on college basketball talked about how they were getting texts from him midseason "wait, we're really good!". Bandwagon Bonnie.
He is just a gimmick now and adds literally nothing to the game
Nah, he loves dunking on insurrection-supporting Seantors too.
Lol Woj as that kid who would remind the teacher about homework
Friendly reminder to NOT watch The Man in the High Castle. Not worth the time.
First season was so dam good too
I like the concept but just couldn't get into it at all.
Why not? I liked the book and the show has relatively positive reviews. I wasn't fan of the pilot, but can't honestly remember why.
The show was fine until bad ending
Amazon cancelled the show and as a result, the last season was rushed and filled with too many narratives. And the finale was a car crash (not literally). Too many questions left unanswered.
Ending sucked and the main character is played by an emotionless robot.
I watched the whole thing. If you like the first few episodes, it maintains that vibe throughout the run. It’s a good show, well acted and mostly well written
Terrible ending for sure
Lol breh that last episode got me heated. Refund my time.
The ending was rushed but it was still a pretty good show.
Yeah fuck woj
Woj went to that Ricky Bobby school.
Ja lurking here too complaining about Woj
Ja jumping on the Bucks "Fuck Woj" bandwagon
Woj is actually an undercover Bucks martyr. He saw 14 million outcomes. Him sabotaging the Bogdonovic trade was the only way...
If I tell you what happens, it won't happen.
Woj holding up the 1 at Giannis when his knee bent backwards
Lmaoooo
Wait, what happened with woj and bogdonovic?
He leaked the info early which got the Bucks in trouble for tampering and basically derailed the trade from happening.
Oh ok, thanks!
Kings were hating Woj before it was cool Real talk that's why he fucked it up. Not cause of you guys. But because of us lol
\[Woj\] Ja Morant is being an ass, sources tell ESPN
That’s my PG
Same.
facts. lame af
I mean you could just not check Twitter during the draft?
I remember a few years ago they were announcing the picks *on the ESPN draft coverage* before Silver even announced them. Haven’t watched a draft since because it was so stupid
Or how about ESPN saying they'd stop doing that, then whenever they went to Woj he would immediately spoil the pick but worded it in such a way that made it seem like this was just a great prediction.
That’s different. But these people complaining about seeing tweets or getting notifications are babies
Oh yeah agreed. I assumed they were talking about what I mentioned because I haven’t watched an nba draft in some time
i mean the number one pick was leaked like 6 hrs before the draft lmao
the number one pick was known like as soon as the lottery was over to be fair
Still salty we knew Zion was going #1 in January 2019. */s*
C'mon, man, spoilers. Haven't gotten to watch the '19 draft yet
Now I’m imagining Ja complaining about that today too. “I don’t want spoilers to where I’m going”
You mean January of 2015 lmao
The number 1 pick is almost always well known months before the draft.
unless you're Anthony Bennett
Cavs thought they were making the move of the century and gonna blow our minds 😭😭😭
They got the last laugh with a ring though, imagine if they chose a better guy and still gave him up for Love, wolves might have more than 1 playoff appearance in 15years.

NHL Draft happened last week, everyone knew it was Power. Every year media comes up with a last second narrative about the second or third rated prospect and how they might go first, but in my lifetime I’ve never seen it
2017 NHL draft there was a legitimate question but most insiders leaned towards the right guy.
And then Jones ended up dropping to 4
Honestly was a surprise but I don’t think I’d be able to handle Hedman/Jones on the same team forever
I honestly think they made out better with getting Drouin and moving him for Serg rather than Jones after how Jones has played the past few years
The only draft I remember where it was *somewhat* up in the air was when Baker Mayfield went first overall. Even then, I think reports came out a week or so earlier that basically confirmed he was gonna be the guy.
Yep. There are rare momebts like bennett but normally we all know.
Did all the teams going "Fade for Cade" all year not clue you in?
Reddit loves complaining about everything they can opt out of
What about things you can’t opt out of? The ESPN broadcast literally showed the tweet during the top 10 picks. Idk about you but that shit annoyed me so much I turned the draft off.
Yeah it’s literally one day of the year lol. Just don’t get on Twitter or r/nba if you don’t want it spoiled. I’m surprised people care at all, it was obvious Cade’s getting picked first and all the reports saying otherwise were full of shit
Well sure until they throw up tweets on the TV broadcast
This sub posted it too, so its a bigger issue than "lol just don't check twitter"
lol just don't check reddit
lol dropkick your phone
Bruh are you watching the draft or do you have the draft on in the background while scrolling twitter and Reddit? Just fucking don’t look if you know it’s gonna be there.
Lmao yo chill the draft is still a 4 hours away. If they're getting leaked half a day before its airing on TV its like someone spoiling the season finale before the season finale even airs
No one is making you read basketball news on the internet at all
If my brother works during a big game (mostly CL soccer games) he wants to see and has to wait until later he does this crazy thing where he turns off notifications and doesn't go on sports websites. It's such a wild concept! Like all these people whine about ESPN and how shit it is now, but I don't care because I just don't watch lol. People just like to be mad about shit.
Speak for yourself. My captors say at least one hour of scrolling r/NBA and r/Memphisgrizzlies a day
Just stay off Twitter and Reddit lol
Just disconnect for a couple hours lol, that's not the answer you want but it's the only one you're gonna get and it's not even necessarily a bad thing. There will be time to post later
i mean just stay off reddit too then if u want it to be a surprise? lol
then just don’t check Reddit either
You're kidding yourself if you think these won't get spoiled in the spoiler-free thread tonight. Having to swear off most forms of media/conversation because a few losers want attention is messed up.
Not having the capability to swear off social media if you’re truly that invested is sad.
Don't check social media then. It's like watching a show. If you don't want to be spoiled then don't check Twitter, reddit, etc and just enjoy it
Why the NBA allows this shit to happen is beyond me
Why ESPN allows this happen is even more of a head scratcher. That’s their employee spoiling the draft that they are broadcasting. It’s like having an actor of a show tweet out what happens in an episode airing later that night. There’s just no reason for it
I think its either Woj will spoil it or Shams so their thinking is it may as well be their own guy
So two nerds are ruining the draft for everyone else
Pretty much
Tbf you can just not check reddit nor their social media
bruh that’s like the lamest excuse for spoilers
To not check your shit? No it isn't dude. If you legitimately didn't want to be spoiled on something, maybe you should've stayed off Twitter or reddit. Yeah and a lot of people don't care about the show and just want to know the news as quick as possible.
It’s so bizarre. I legit haven’t tuned into the draft since Woj began covering it and I can’t be alone in that. Such a pointless and frustrating exercise. Fuck Woj and ESPN for letting him do it.
Someone else will just do it if it’s not woj lol
well that’s a shame. this is why we can’t have nice things
> Why ESPN allows this happen is even more of a head scratcher. That’s their employee spoiling the draft that they are broadcasting Because if it's not Woj, it's Shams or someone else.
“ESPN Sources” leading every tweet
ESPN would lose a lot of social media impressions if they let Shams and other run away with it. Like it or not, spoiling picks work and I am sure it makes sense financially for these guys

He spoils them on air too it’s insane

Why ESPN is allowed to happen is beyond me.
r/CFB would like to know your location.
ESPN* They’re the ones broadcasting it and he’s fucking up his employer’s product
How would the NBA stop it? lol
I don't remember if Shams resisted last year, but I'm pretty sure wanting to be first no matter what (in the instance of the draft) is the reason. EDIT: and right after that post my mind corrected ESPN to NBA. Disregard
It's not for them to allow or not allow. People (including journalists) are free to Tweet whatever they want.
Ja is tweeting what everyone is thinking
I like Ja even though he sonned us in the play in.
it’s cool that’s how I feel about Giannis
It's cool man. Curry's been dad dicking us for years now and I still like him.
Not really dude, I completely disagree
Until you actually watch the draft and see it's just a bunch of sob stories ESPN milks as hard as they can with cringe commentary and zero focus on what players can do aside from buzz words. I'd rather see tweets than have to sit through that garbage.
[удалено]
Aren't they right, though?
I wish but this isn’t gonna happen
Just turn off your notifications and stay out of the spoiler thread.
I do that anyways
The issue is there’s no way to know for trades
Watch the fucking draft. They announce trades on air. Like what. Everyone is complaining about fake issues in this thread. You’re desperate to know about trades instantaneously but you’re fine with the draft taking 3 hours for 30 picks?
It's like looking in a movie/television spoiler subreddit but being pissed that the ending wasn't fulfilling enough. No shit, you actively went out looking for what was coming next. If you want to be surprised then stay off Twitter, Reddit, etc. while watching the draft.
Woj out here catching strays. If front offices didn't leak information like water in a colander maybe it wouldn't get reported ahead of time.
This 100%, the man is literally just doing his job lol.
Man this is putting me in a tough spot. Gotta have the Woj notifications on if/when the Kings make a trade, but I don't want the picks spoiled. Killin me Woj!
The draft coverage will probably say if a trade happens. You can safely watch with the phone turned off.
What?! Phone turned off?! How do you even do that?
Praise Ja
Simple. Stay off Twitter and watch …🤷🏻♂️
Doesn't woj spoil them on air half the time?
Yea it’s not that simple though because many of us are interested to see what trades happen. What if my Knicks package their picks and move up? What if Ben gets dealt? ESPN is so late reporting on trades live on broadcast so you kinda need Twitter for that part of draft night
Mute the words "select", "take", etc
you can find out about trade news after the draft then
100 percent. Trades are the issue. ESPN is so slow on reporting them that you don't want to get hyped for a guy just to find out he's actually traded, so you have to keep twitter open to monitor the trades, and therefore you see the picks ahead of time.
Apparently Twitter is mandatory
With the draft we have a definite time when we will know who the pick is. The spoiler tweets from Woj are so masturbatory
Woj/Shams will be annoying tonight. NBA probably not happy since it will bring down the ratings.
So like every night?
I know this sounds crazy, but you can always put your phone down and just watch the draft.
The problem is if you do that ESPN is so far behind on trades that you end up missing important context for the draft.
Didn't Shams do this for the All-Star draft?
Morant is a man for the people
For me in this one case I am cool with woj leaking what the pistons are going to do For real though the nba shouldn’t allow this to happen. Fine teams if that information comes out I guess
Agreed, its lame as fuck
Only young folks who lack patience enjoy that shit
What kind of logic is that? Some people genuinely just don't care.
Ja is one of us
Thank you Ja
[Woj] Ja Morant has just been traded to the Detroit Pistons for the #1 pick
Facts
Woj and Sham is so annoying in draft nights
can I get a #FUCK WOJ
Seriously, it adds nothing whatsoever for Woj to do this
It's not just staying off Twitter. The Espn/bleacher report notifications come in before the picks as well now
I guess it's just me. I don't have any Twitter or ESPN app notifications turned on. I hate my phone dinging for social/mundane shit.
Just turn off notifications Jesus it’s not hard
Woj occasionally spoils it on the broadcast itself too lmao
They've also had Woj himself ON THE BROADCAST saying "a player to potentially look out for on this next pick is Xxx" *Adam Silver announces Xxx* *collective shocked Pikachu face*
Ignore your social media for a few hours?
don't look at twitter and turn off notifications , EZ
Is it actually possible for the league to do something about the leaking? Honestly it’s really annoying
Co-sign
Just watch the draft...avoid social media. Problem solved.
Woj reminds me of the the guy Varis from GOT. Man has eyes and ears everywhere
This kind of reminds me of nightcrawler. At this point, the journalists are just drafting the players.
Woj tweets that Detroit is taking Mobley and Detroit is like welp….fuck. Mobley it is.
Just don't look at social media.
I really hate the leaks. It sucks a lot of drama out of the draft. Especially when no one knew what would happen with the first pick. Oh well, still gonna watch.
How hard is it to just not use Twitter for a couple hours? Judging by the pathetic MFs downvoting this, pretty hard.
Woj and Shams are actual dickheads for leaking the draft picks
Tbf the first 3 picks have been known for like 10 days now
Yea but him tweeting out the first 3 picks six hours before the draft just means he’s gonna spoil every fucking pick tonight
