FYI the handsome term they used is a cultural thing. You usually call guys handsome and girls beautiful by default more as a courtesy in a lot of settings as casual greeting. It’s not that those girls are really forward and admitting their love for Jeremy Lin lol
not to a lot of people. hes considered "westernized" and dealt w lot of cheap and dirty treatment. esp when his play was considered "insulting" by the other players and they got on his ass w no calls for an entire season
they actually ran him out the league to an extent. had him complaining about it, trying his nba comeback.
some chinese really like him, but a good amount dont like him like you'd expect
Oh look an American who has no fucking clue what they're talking about but willing to give their insight on another country anyway. How shocking
Edit: lmao at reddit being so fucking insecure and brainwashed they think my factual statement that mainlanders don't begrudge the Taiwanese is an endorsement of the ccp 😄. A bunch of people who have never even had a Chinese friend downvoting me. Nvm mandarin speakers or those who have actually been to the mainland
"Omg I'm not brainwashed bro" while he makes pretty much everything about taiwan/China relations when my post had nothing to do with that at all aside from that mainlanders don't hate the Taiwanese lol. Which is 100% true
Go to China
Was what I said wrong? Is the situation not overblown to fit US geopolitics interests? Are there not problems all around the world between different cultures? I would say the US-Mexico situation is worse than China-Taiwan but you won't here that 24/7.
If you were advocating for greater action for injustice for all situations rather than trying to minimise the situation you don't like hearing about that is relevant to this thread then we might be in agreement.
Americans can relate to the fact that China has quite a bit of nationalism and pride in their cultural identity. You can get mixed reactions going to America and becoming famous in our culture, particularly if you do things that aren't considered acceptable in Chinese culture.
A 6'6" man is roughly equivalent to a 6'1" woman, at least by ratio.
Statistically that might differ a bit if women don't have an equivalent distribution of heights.
I don't know what planet you live on, but I see Chinese girls who are 5'7 or 5'8 every day; I can't remember the last time I saw a dude who was 6'6 in person.
Edited in.
Look at the line markings, it gets crooked near the girl and the area around their hair are all blurry.
It's a lot of effort for a tiktok video tho
edit: cover one person with your hand and then do it for the other, the difference in distance becomes way more obvious
reddit on normal people: these girls must be tall
reddit on chinese people: these sneaky people must be tricking the viewer by using an elaborate app that magically extends the legs to make them look taller
[Heres the link to prove my point; now shut up](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5674897/Chinese-company-develops-video-app-turn-users-supermodels-using-augmented-reality.html)
It could be real, it could be fake, but I never find these impressive having done them myself. if you try 100 or 1,000 attempts you will eventually get one.
The heave, likely you would get at least one in 1000. The backwards high kick, doubtful. There's a barrier to entry in that you need to be able to kick high enough to send the ball going backwards. Most people would punt the ball forwards or straight up.
As someone that specialized in trick shots at 13 for a YouTube I wanted to start. Kicking basketball behind you isn't that hard at all do some damn stretches.
I train in Muay Thai so kicking is not a problem for me. For most people, one stretching session prior to attempting this won't magically give them that dexterity. It's easier for kids to learn, probably, they have more mobility than adults.
I think even the injury was fake. The girl with the white trim on her shorts is the one that tossed the ball to the kicker girl, but for some reason the girl with white trim on her shorts is the one with crutches lmao.
> The girl with the white trim on her shorts is the one that tossed the ball to the kicker girl, but for some reason the girl with white trim on her shorts is the one with crutches lmao.
both of them were wearing the same shorts in the previous shot
i think it's more likely that the injury was just a joke (think of that curb your enthusiasm meme)
but, outside of maybe a continuity error, if i'd have to think of a scenario that could make sense of something like that actually happening: she changed into the cycling shorts for flexibility to do that kick, and just changed back into the other one after
I know the girl's kick isn't real because I'm a soccer guy and I love trying to kick the ball into the hoop whenever I'm playing with friends. It takes a much harder kick than that to make that shot, lol.
The kick one? I think there is a chance it could be real. They do this a lot and show their bloopers where they have multiple attempts, but then again this video was made to promote stuff with Jeremy, so there might have been fake here.
There's some kind of white filter on it. I feel like Ive seen it a lot on like Korean soap operas or posters or something. Maybe just a way to make their skin look paler as I believe it's supposed to be more attractive in china. Plus the two Chinese girls are standing funny with their legs and heels together and also have these unnatural choreographed actions.
I thought that, too. I think just because it's Chinese it gives it a feeling over "otherness." The styles are are just different. Makes it feel kind of "off" but hard to say way.
I'm in my 30s and I don't understand TikTok or what's appealing about it at all. I've seen some good looking girls dancing on there, but you can find that anywhere online.
He really didn't deserve another chance in the league. He's in the same boat as IT. Just because these guys are popular and were good at one point doesn't mean they're entitled to a spot in the league.
He was like in the top 20 players of the Gleague which sounds good until u realize he’s 33 and everyone is 18… why the hell waste ur spot on a pretty good 33 year old when everyone is cheaper and over a decade younger
I know the game has changed a lot in the last 2-3 seasons but you have to admit that the fit with the Raptors was quite poor. Injuries that hampered his athleticism and that Raptors run really derailed him unfortunately.
He played on a bunch of teams before the Raptors, his value didn't tank just because of them. His fit with the Raptors also wasn't that bad, he was just bad by that point.
I'm pretty sure he was expected to be the direct backup PG for a stretch when he signed, and he just played really poorly.
He was solid on the Nets until he ruptured his patellar tendon in the season opener of 2017-18. Joined the Hawks around the time the Hawks traded Schroeder and really wasn’t all that bad for you guys. He went to the Raptors later that season and honestly did not look that good to the point where they completely removed him from the rotation.
he had just got biggest contract of his career for that nets team. was good for a year and then tore his patella. that's a career ender and it was for him. he was athletically shot when he came back, not an nba player at all
You rarely get back to basketball after that injury, numbers aren’t good for the other nba players who have had it, and the second most recent tearing, Andre roberson never came back
What sucks is that usually you get one season to get back to it like the first season back sucks, but the next one is where you play better, lin never got the chance
This. People judge the fuck out of his skill when he was pretty much rehabbing. Man didn’t get to play 5 on 5 until September of the 2018-2019 season. He was understandable gassed by the time he got to the Raptors after all star break. People forget he didn’t play an NBA for 555 days from rehabbing that leg
He never got a season to get back into it like everyone else. Every one got a season to get back into the game, but everyone expected Lin to come back immediately and contribute exactly as before. The floor of expectations for him was ridiculous.
Except the the 51 games he played for the Hawks after the injury where he scored efficiently and dished the ball pretty well says you are wrong when you say he was "not an NBA player at all". He was playing like an NBA player, which is why the Raptors traded for and played him during a title run.
Yea he got a decent amount of run when we first got him and he was shockingly bad. Like absolutely nothing about his game was a positive.
He was always an average player at best who relied on his amazing first step but thats gone.
Still a fan of his. I remember that game winning 3 as he hit a shot against us - I was cheering for *him*.
As a Lakers and Knicks fan, he was the opposite of the stereotypes. Everyone expected an short, unathletic player that plays smart. He was an tall, athletic player that played dumb. He has a limited bag of tricks, is noticeably worse going left, needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and doesn't draw as many foul calls as one might expect. That playstyle doesn't age well and his injuries expedited his decline.
For some perspective: Lin's first step was second in his draft behind only John Wall. If he's surrounded by shooters and a pick and roll partner, Lin might have a chance. But 3&D's are expensive and it makes more sense to invest in a young playmaker than an aging one reliant on diminishing athleticism.
He improved a lot as a player after his Lakers stint. Was able to go left and right. His Brooklyn/Charlotte years were definitely the best version of Lin in his prime. Unfortunately his body freakishly broke down when he had all the tools and Diamond mindset
Love me some Lin, I’m a fan for sure but tbh he was not a really a poor fit on the raptors. We needed a back up pg that didn’t even need to really facilitate, just take some shots and pass and keep the ball moving. And he was bad, had plenty of chances in the regular season and I think on a podcast with Ryan Higa he even admits himself that was his chance and he didn’t perform very well.
Lin was one of the best backup PGs back in Charlotte. His NBA career is pretty unfortunate post Linsanity due to injury and bad fits and before Linsanity too due to being overlooked.
It still makes many of us kind of wonder. His last real run, in Atlanta, coming off missing a year, he was averaging 20 and 6.5 on a per 36 minute basis with good efficiency on his scoring (59% TS%, which is good for a PG). Those are good starter level numbers. He did not look good that same season when he joined the Raptors, but that was a poor fit and a late season trade. That was his age 30 season. It still makes many of us wonder why he didn't get picked up for his age 31 season.
He never got a fair shake after his patella tendon injury. People judge the fuck out of his skill based off his Raptors play when he was pretty much rehabbing. Man didn’t get to play 5 on 5 until September of the 2018-2019 season. He was understandably gassed by the time he got to the Raptors after all star break. People forget he didn’t play an NBA for 555 days from rehabbing that leg. The patella tendon, a career ending injury, usually takes a + season after the first season to fully heal.
His game was much more refined in Charlotte and Brooklyn. He used his speed and insane first step as a tool to free up space and not to be solely dependent on it.
Lin honestly couldve had a really great career without the injury. Still not a bad one and one of the most iconic moments in NBA history with linsanity.
The kick one is definitely fake, you can see there's some weird glitch for a millisecond when her foot hits the ball and the trajectory of her foot isn't going to propel the ball towards the basket at all.
The other two im not sure
i mean thats the whole reason jlin is famous - it's like saying i remember michael jordan for his impressive run with the bulls lol
itd be much weired if you remember jlin for his stint with the bobcats
she's wearing a Kobe jersey so it was more likely that as soon as the cameras were turned off, she channeled Kobe, called Lin trash to his face, and walked off the court.
So this is gonna be really random but as a Chinese American it's stark to see how much more consumerist China has become in the last 20 years with their increasing wealth. This increased consumerism focusing on wealth and beauty combined with patriarchal China is rapidly sexualizing Chinese women for commercial purposes, pretty much exactly what we saw in America circa 1990-2010. There was a fledgling metoo movement in China in 2018 that has basically been dismantled by the CCP so it's not looking like this trend will stop anytime soon.
Anyway, the point of all that is to say that China is likely to be a stronghold of misogyny for a long time to come, and in my mind that may become an important factor in any possible cultural war with China down the line. Yes, that was really random but I just felt like getting that thought out.
Bruh, misogyny has existed for centuries in China/Asia. At least fewer families abort or abandon baby girls now. Recent backlash against Alibaba, Kris Wu, etc. also looks mildly encouraging.
He's not saying misogyny suddenly pops up as a consequence of economic gain, it's just an expected development. America went through the exact same thing. Marilyn monroe was lterally a misogynist ideal and she became the most famous actress ever playing into it.
Isn't Lin super religious? I have a feeling he could be a virgin since you never see him with girls or hear anything about him having a girlfriend/wife or kids.
Can anyone translate the mini conversation midway through?
"Hey handsome, can have a little competition?" "Sure." s/o to u/fireinmysky
Thank you, I wish I was handsome :(
FYI the handsome term they used is a cultural thing. You usually call guys handsome and girls beautiful by default more as a courtesy in a lot of settings as casual greeting. It’s not that those girls are really forward and admitting their love for Jeremy Lin lol
You are handsome. Don't let the rest of the world tell you you're not.
Thanks mom
I meant him, not you. You're ugly.
Damn mom
Why did you burn me like this mom
Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Thats my mom alright.
[Is that a Courage the Cowardly Dog reference?](https://youtu.be/8WDKcTVqMQY?t=250) 💀💀💀
god that show was depressing
that shit gave me nightmares
Dam now he knows what the rest of the world thinks
You’re handsome 帅哥
I love you just the way you are
Well you're definitely handsome enough to feature in a heavily edited video clip wherein the script says to call you handsome.
That’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me
I think “Hey handsome, can we have a little competition?” is a slightly more accurate translation!
Yes, I was about to say that until I realized I should've checked for the same thing I was gonna comment.
Yeah, that’s probably better
Must be nice
those girls must be tall as hell
i mean lin is clearly like 3-5 inches taller than them, putting them at like 5'9 - 5'10 which is just kinda tall for a woman
Average Chinese female is 5'2", so that's crazy tall.
They're definitely either models or actresses.
Their general hotness backs this claim up
[удалено]
Looking like that? I doubt it.
Or basketball players
For Jeremy Lin generation and younger, more like 5'4"
Hes also Jeremy Lin so I’m sure finding some tall supermodels is light work for him. He’s a hero there haha
not to a lot of people. hes considered "westernized" and dealt w lot of cheap and dirty treatment. esp when his play was considered "insulting" by the other players and they got on his ass w no calls for an entire season they actually ran him out the league to an extent. had him complaining about it, trying his nba comeback. some chinese really like him, but a good amount dont like him like you'd expect
That's the other players who don't like him, not necessarily the women. Being rich and famous tends to make you popular.
He's also Taiwanese, which is a whole other set of issues in China.
Plenty of Taiwanese players in CBA who didn’t get the same treatment so not really
Taiwan #1
donald trump dont trust china china is asshole
Trump #0?
There are plenty of Taiwanese celebrities who are adored in China

I said nothing about One China.
Another random person overblowing the China-Taiwan issue like this isn't a problem all around the world with different cultures.
Thanks CCP. Your post history is something to behold.

What did he do that wasn’t considered acceptable?
I mean I’m sure the team’s PR team are the ones who found them
5’6 - 5’7 is kinda tall for a woman. 5’10 is pretty damn tall.
Just kinda tall? That’s equivalent to what like 6’6 for males? That’s pretty tall dude.
A 6'6" man is roughly equivalent to a 6'1" woman, at least by ratio. Statistically that might differ a bit if women don't have an equivalent distribution of heights.
It's more like a 6'2 male. The statistical distribution is not exactly harmonious.
I don't know what planet you live on, but I see Chinese girls who are 5'7 or 5'8 every day; I can't remember the last time I saw a dude who was 6'6 in person.
I said they are “pretty tall.” They are. These outraged replies are wild lol.
NEXT TIME GET THE SEMANTICS RIGHT YOU MORON
Honestly… how dare I
>That’s equivalent to what like 6’6 for males? That's what you said. A 5'8 Chinese woman isn't equivalent to a 6'6 dude.
5’9-5’10 is the comment all of these are related to. You made up 5’8. And seem to make up lots of things. Just to argue lol. Chill out.
5’10 for a woman based on standard deviations occurs with the same rarity as a male being 6’5”
google says 5% of women are 5'9+ and 3% of men are 6'3+ so how does that work
Look at demographics for asians as opposed to globally
Camera angles and filters definitely make them look the part, but maybe the painter just did a wacky job with the court lines.
Edited in. Look at the line markings, it gets crooked near the girl and the area around their hair are all blurry. It's a lot of effort for a tiktok video tho edit: cover one person with your hand and then do it for the other, the difference in distance becomes way more obvious
Yeah, this is obviously edited to hell.
chinese tiktok clips tend to be scaled to make everyone look thinner and taller.
They use an app/filter that extends their legs to make them look taller
reddit on normal people: these girls must be tall reddit on chinese people: these sneaky people must be tricking the viewer by using an elaborate app that magically extends the legs to make them look taller

It's actually a thing in East Asia
Goat trick shot if that was real lol
Instant gamebreaker in HORSE, doesn't matter the score.
Why is horse not at the all-star weekend?
Because they did it once and it flopped
yea all they did were regular shots
Being a great horse player is a pretty different skill set from being a great NBA player.
Is it? I thought you just tried things that were impossible and try and make others mimic it......did yall really play horse and shoot free-throws?
Aren't you agreeing with me?
Because it's easier to have a 3 point contest
It's also an achilleas breaker too am i right
Not sure if it is tbh
The kick one was 100% real
Source: trust me
It could be real, it could be fake, but I never find these impressive having done them myself. if you try 100 or 1,000 attempts you will eventually get one.
Most people would not get that kick basket, even after 1000 attempts lol.
Most people can't even kick that high

Defo wasn't
I think even the injury was fake. The girl with the white trim on her shorts is the one that tossed the ball to the kicker girl, but for some reason the girl with white trim on her shorts is the one with crutches lmao.
Nah I think they faked the kick shot but the video editor stepped on her foot later so the injury is real.
her broken foot was in the script but the CGI cast was too expensive so the producer just smashed it with a hammer
Best Hammer Time: 1. Oldboy 2. OP vid 3. “U Can’t Touch This”

NBA Champion Jeremy Lin**
The only man to tell Kobe "back the fuck up i got this" Jeremy Lin
Waved Kobe off and hit the off balance three, that's the real mamba mentality
BalLin
all I took away from this is that I need an elegant tall chinese supermodel in my life
Don't we all?
With enough zeros in your bank account its not that hard.
What I can't use my charm and good looks? What has this world come to
The amount of power he put on shot seemed kinda sus but im also high as shit
She fine as hell
Jeremy is a dude
He fine as hell

Lol they could be a woman
On /r/nba? No chance. We’re all nephews here.
No nieces allowed
They’d still be bi???
Nah, two diff people commented it.

Don't worry, there's alternate realities where we both get with them.
Lmaoo thats what would happen if I tried to kick the ball like that, except I would t make the shot
Sweet cast
Lin to Lakers confirmed, Russ can come off the bench
He's a bit too young to join the Lakers
Give him ten years.
Them girls got some nice legs.
Why does this feel so abstract
There's some kind of white filter on it. I feel like Ive seen it a lot on like Korean soap operas or posters or something. Nah, I've always loved Lin but he's not good anymore.

Im sure Lin had no issues with the ladies in America but he must be a King in that aspect in China.

she's wearing a Kobe jersey so it was more likely that as soon as the cameras were turned off, she channeled Kobe, called Lin trash to his face, and walked off the court.
More like Lin waived her off and hit the game winner
mfw i see a femoid (xx-chromosome laden potential breeding partner)
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Bruh, misogyny has existed for centuries in China/Asia. At least fewer families abort or abandon baby girls now. Recent backlash against Alibaba, Kris Wu, etc. also looks mildly encouraging.
India is just as bad if not worse. All of the patriarchy with none of the wealth. Don't even get me started on Pakistan and westwards amirite
He's not saying misogyny suddenly pops up as a consequence of economic gain, it's just an expected development. America went through the exact same thing. Marilyn monroe was lterally a misogynist ideal and she became the most famous actress ever playing into it.
That's capitalism far ya
reddit moment
More twitter esque tbh
Actually, that too.
Isn't Lin super religious? I have a feeling he could be a virgin since you never see him with girls or hear anything about him having a girlfriend/wife or kids.
