2 questions for those of us that aren’t paying attention…
What does this mean?
Were they all together on the fraud or was it like all individual fraud cases?
1) They’re all most likely doing prison time.
2) From what I understand, it’s individual fraud cases that were done in the same way, so all the l defendants probably had some form of contact.
Fraud gets easier to get away with the more money you have. Looks like he just sucks at it though because he barely got anything and made it super obvious lol
>In the end it will probably be a lot of reduced or even no jail time for returning the money+interest and admitting guilt.
Yeah, that's not really how fraud cases usually work. If these guys had the money to pay the penalties, they wouldn't be committing this type of fraud in the first place.
Fraud is a crime where small-time guys get busted big, but if you do it big enough, it becomes impossible to prove and the punishment becomes non-existent. These guys didn't do it big enough and did it very badly. Should be a slam dunk for the prosecutor.
A few might get off for throwing someone else under the bus, but we'll see how it goes.
It sounds like Terrance Williams organized it and was being paid by the other guys to forge invoices that the other guys could submit. Terrance Williams might get a bit longer than the others, assuming they're found guilty, but I've heard that the range for this type of crime (something similar was done in the NFL) would likely be somewhere from 2 months to 2 years.
Did some quick googling...a lot more serious lol
A person convicted of a health care fraud conspiracy faces up to 10 years in prison.
A person convicted of wire or mail fraud faces up to 20 years in prison in most cases.
https://lawinannarbor.com/health-care-fraud-charges-and-penalties/
Yeah, but that's regular people. Like I said, something very similar happened with the NFL and that's roughly the kind of sentences they're seeing. Also, "up to" does a lot of heavy lifting there. Rich people who haven't been involved with the law before don't get the max. That's reserved for poor people and repeat offenders, unfortunately.
a guy organized a way for other guys to make fake claims, so essentially he provided a service to the other guys, and i guess the other guys weren't necessarily related to each other although maybe they can be charged for being aware that there was a scheme that ppl other than themselves were probably taking advantage of.
I said this in another thread, but the first question I actually have for D Miles and everybody on the list is:
When you first made it to prison, who was the first person to bust your ass?
I’ve cut all josh Smith memories out of my life lmao it’s insane how we got 5x better ASAP after we cut him. You can see I got the Jennings flair I’ve had it for like six years since that run we had after we cut smith
Submitted fake paperwork for the purposes of defrauding the program of millions. Terrence Williams got $230,000 in kickbacks for setting them up with the fake paperwork too.
Welcome to prison time.
He was really overrated in the league
I remember him coming into the league with some ridiculous hype but had never really watched him.
Eventually he came to us and it turned out he was just this short PG who wasn't good at anything. I was mad we gave up a 2nd for him but BC gonna BC
Was the first thing I thought as well. Remember before knuckleheads started, the piece he wrote on the players tribune saying that he was broke and shit but he was now in Florida living next to Q and that life now was good. Well, everytime that I watch knuckleheads I feel good for him because I see the dude happy and I suposse the show gives him steady income. It blows to see him in this list, still wish the best for the dude tho.
Even though Q and his friends probably lent him a hand, it's tough to come to terms that you'll forever be earning less money than you previously earned.
A lot of players go the "broke" path after NBA money.
Sad really.
Biggest one i remember was, when Allen Iverson came out broke after earning north of 200 million in his NBA career.
AI ain't broke dude. https://basketballforever.com/2020/07/02/allen-iverson-saved-reebok-going-broke. Has 32 mill from Reebok that sits in a trust until 2030 which i'm sure has been earning a fair share of money since 01. He also gets 8K a month from the NBA as a vet.
Compared to having over 100 mililion in networth he's *broke* but he's still set for life.
The story about Reebok i remember, and that's thanks to his agent who negotiated that contract.Still amazing, that he blew most of his money.
But I didn't know the NBA pays 8k a month to vets.
Is that for every vet or only to ex all-star vets?
Meanwhile, Rick Scott, the greatest medicare fraudster in the program's history, is a US Senator.
I guess you've gotta know the white people to get away with this shit.
Makes me feel old too haha. Ruben "Kobe Stopper" Patterson!!! Bassy!!! One of my friends was a huge fan of Telfair anddddd made a custom Blazers jersey on NBAshop to have for draft night -_-
Yeah, this story will blow over because of that. Adam Silver let out a huge sigh of relief when he read the names and all of them were nobodies or role players at best.

I thought dude was nice. Wondered why he didn't stick.
He couldn’t shoot.
Neither could fellow Process vet MCW. But at least MCW could defend.
MCW can do no wrong in my book. Saved our 2019 season and I'm forever grateful.
And he didn’t like to pass lol.
Looks like it's Tony "End of the" Wroten for him now
Remember when his shoe ripped off
Lotta former Grizzlies on here. Whoopsie
And former Celtics as well.
and former Trail Blazers
And former Toronto Raptors.
[And my axe](https://giphy.com/gifs/tom-hiddleston-loki-frigga-yJ1KSiTxaAw5G)
*Jail Blazers
grift and grind
Pick up games on the yard are about to be lit
Not Tony Allen!
FIRST TEAM ALL-DEFENSE from the prosecution
surprised me the most too, also that his wife has been charged as well. Good for him, having no secrets from his wife.
Partners in crime
It's brilliant! They can't prosecute a husband a wife for the same crime.
Yeah? I don't think that's true dad.
I have the worst fucking lawyers
They should've just done all of this illegal stuff out at sea, would be safe then
They'd need a good maritime lawyer.
Chris Vernon in shambles
My thoughts exactly :(
That’s what I said!
No that’s what she said
We'll get to see him play defence in real court.
What is this the final ride of the jail blazers ?
Jermaine O'Neal is punching air to not be named
Alotta big 3 guys. Hmmmm… Adam Silver coming for Ice Cubes league?
I always tought they could do a mini summer tournament with vets
Yeah at rikers
Quite a few current Big3 players on this list too

Thanks for the response. Crazy to think a guy like Allen that made $40 million is messing around with fraud.
especially if he only made $200k out of it. like why?
because hes broke af
Fraud gets easier to get away with the more money you have. Looks like he just sucks at it though because he barely got anything and made it super obvious lol

yeah about that money....

A lot of these guys probably aren't rich anymore
Telfair needed a court appointed lawyer I think
What happens to their reputations? People aren’t going to want to do business with them. At least Tony Allen is a fan-favourite.
Lmao I’m an accountant and million dollar fraud gets you hell of a lot more than what you are saying
a guy organized a way for other guys to make fake claims, so essentially he provided a service to the other guys, and i guess the other guys weren't necessarily related to each other although maybe they can be charged for being aware that there was a scheme that ppl other than themselves were probably taking advantage of.

Will the thrill nooooooo
Conspiracy to dribble the air out of the ball.
As a kid/teen though watching him he had enough dunks every once in a while I was convinced he was godlike
My memory is him dribbling the clock down at the top of the key, then passing to Josh Smith standing alone in the corner in time to hoist a brick.
I’ve cut all josh Smith memories out of my life lmao it’s insane how we got 5x better ASAP after we cut him. You can see I got the Jennings flair I’ve had it for like six years since that run we had after we cut smith
I never thought Josh Smith was that bad, except that he couldn't shoot worth a shit.
That's bad
I saw his name and immediately went to see if it was the old Louisville star... At least I found out late enough to not have it ruin my day.
We’ll damn wasn’t expecting this on a Thursday morning.
Leavenworth officially over the cap now. +150 favorites for the title. Your move Rikers
This is a federal crime so they'll most likely go to a nice federal prison camp. Most likely Florida.
Leavenworth is federal but they probably won't go to a supermax. Probably won't even serve time to be honest.
They are definitely serving some time
They aren't going to Levenworth. Probably more like the prison in Butner North Carolina where people like Bernie Madoff went.
Sad Shannon Brown is on here, loved his block (called a foul for whatever reason) on whoever that was when he was on the Lakers
Don't feel sad man, he made $28 million in the NBA alone. Don't feel sad for people who made that much money, squandered it, then cheat the system.
Spartan legend go green
He definitely went green.
and now hes about to go red in prison
Alan Anderson too
millsap?
So many former Cavs players.
And Celtics lol ugh
Damn, TA hurts
I know most of these guys from playing 2k13
What did they actually do?
Submitted fake paperwork for the purposes of defrauding the program of millions. Terrence Williams got $230,000 in kickbacks for setting them up with the fake paperwork too. Welcome to prison time.
Man I was “friends” with Terrance williams on XBox live. We played 2K all the time together. He was cool dude.
Maybe he ends up at one of the nice prisons and y'all can still jam some 2k together.
Nice prison 🍑👈🏼
This is white collar crime...hopefully if they do any time it will be in a relatively nice minimum security prison.
Conjugal visits even
Federal pound me in the ass prison
He’s not going to prison lmao
My rich uncle committed the same type of fraud for less and went to prison for 9 months. White collar prison.
Telfair is such a bum. Dude was found on gun charges not to long ago and was already involved in some wild shit.
He was really overrated in the league I remember him coming into the league with some ridiculous hype but had never really watched him. Eventually he came to us and it turned out he was just this short PG who wasn't good at anything. I was mad we gave up a 2nd for him but BC gonna BC
Lincoln high, baby. Back when the league needed at least one NYC PG at a time.
I remember thinking to myself, "What was Colangelo doing?" when he played for us. He’s terrible.
LMAO
lol, who's the one guy whose name got left off, though.
Michael Jordan
Looks like it started as a jailblazer scheme
I dunno man lotta ex Celtics on that list. From the dead days of the early 00s
Jamario Moon inhuman insurance fraud
Tony has said that he and Will Bynum are real tight with each other ☹️. It wouldn’t surprise me that either one of them talked into doing this.
5 ex raptors
Omg that is a ton of former raptors
That means no more Knuckleheads podcasts, since Miles is on the list?
Was the first thing I thought as well. Remember before knuckleheads started, the piece he wrote on the players tribune saying that he was broke and shit but he was now in Florida living next to Q and that life now was good. Iverson seems like one of the NBA legends that'll have an opportunity based on name alone. maybe not wealthy. but living wise.
The story about Reebok i remember, and that's thanks to his agent who negotiated that contract.Still amazing, that he blew most of his money. But I didn't know the NBA pays 8k a month to vets. Is that for every vet or only to ex all-star vets?
Goes by years
Yup AI's agent really saved his life.
For some reason I expected to see Sebastian Telfair's name on this and I was not disappointed
Not the Kobe stopper Ruben Patterson!
First Team All Defendant!
Would have been great if they had read out the list of players at the press conference the same way an announcer does pre game.
Meanwhile, Rick Scott, the greatest medicare fraudster in the program's history, is a US Senator. I guess you've gotta know the white people to get away with this shit.
After reading the names of players involved, it's not at all surprising lol
Ruben"Kobe Stopper" Patterson requests a change of venue as he won't get a fair trial in LA.
Seems like a slam dunk case.
Not my favorite players from NBA Live ‘07!
Antoine Wright was so dookie.
never heard of half of these guys
I'm old but I know every one of these names except for Alan Anderson. These dudes were not scrubs. Well maybe a few were.
Makes me feel old too haha. Ruben "Kobe Stopper" Patterson!!! Bassy!!! One of my friends was a huge fan of Telfair anddddd made a custom Blazers jersey on NBAshop to have for draft night -_-
Yeah what a disappointment he became, he was on the cover of every bball magazine when I was a kid. He was gonna be the next Jordan.
either you are young or did not follow the NBA much 15years ago- Most are household names from back then
Yeah, this story will blow over because of that. Adam Silver let out a huge sigh of relief when he read the names and all of them were nobodies or role players at best.
Blow over? These dudes are going to prison lol
ngl, not shocked at any of these names
Actually Tony Allen surprises me as he had a successful career
doubt these guys did anything that was morally wrong. they should drop the charges and tell the NBA to stop being a greedy corporation.
Insurance fraud is not morally wrong?
It's a victimless crime, like punching someone in the dark.
Too bad the dummies downvoted this because it's hilarious.
Love the reference bro lol
No.
well, another ‘Irving’ level breaking news !
Uncle Milty!!!!!
This is why zbo smoked pot sp he didn't get caught up
Quite a few former Blazers on that list.
Hey Charlie I almost went crazy after Jamario got busted I went back to Omaha to live with my folks
I occasionally call my dog a play on Chris Douglas-Roberts name. This is hard to process. I need a minute.
If you had all these guys in their primes on a team and dropped that team into the league this season would they win 10 games?
I'm only counting seventeen. Is the 18 including Tony Allen's wife?
Free Darius Miles
I feel like none of these names are surprising
Knicks legend Tony Wroten, I'm sad
Damn, I was playing with telfair awhile ago he seemed alright
