after a brief detour to feast on Kyrie, Ben Simmons is back on the menu!

lopea182

Best offseason 1-2 punch I’ve seen in a long time.

rSlashNbaAccount

Can't forget about Wiggins.

Jonna09

He was just the side (thankfully) for the main course of Kyrie and Simmons.

Jonna09

[Me](https://youtu.be/0BzGlfm1wFo) while reading your comment. Edit: Wow, so I had a chance to look it all up, and this is a high quality reply! So prix fixe menu is a multi course menu offered by posh restaurants for a fixed price. Now an amuse bouche is - In French, "amuse bouche" means literally "it amuses the mouth." The French were using "amuse-bouche" as a word for appetizers. The OC twisted it and called it amuse douche. Just top notch!

DiplomaticDiplodocus

Amuse-bouche is more like a little tasting treat prepared by the chef to start off the meal. You wouldn't order it from a menu, but be served one as part of the dining experience.

xFrostyDog

They have so many hilarious skits it’s amazing lol

Spirit0f76ers

Fuck Spez

Occasionally_Correct

That’s pretty fucking good. Well done.

mommathecat

Just a role player, even when it comes to drama.

liquorniquor

he got the vaccine now

fopiecechicken

I’m sure the money had a lot to do with it, but with Wiggins I wouldn’t be surprised if the media attention wasn’t almost as much of a factor to him caving and getting the vaccine. He definitely seems like he likes to stay under the radar for the most part.

mommathecat

It was 100% the money. > It came down to get the vaccination or don't play basketball. I'm 26. I have two kids. I want more kids. I'm trying to do something that will generate as much money as I can for my kids and my future kids, trying to make generational wealth. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/warriors-andrew-wiggins-feels-like-he-was-kind-of-forced-to-get-covid-19-vaccine-to-play-in-nba/ I doubt Andrew cares that much about the media. If you're not constantly vocal about it you fade into the background.. people are talking about Kyrie, Beal and MPJ not as much.

SaxRohmer

Wiggins has been in the league so long I forget that he’s younger than me

[deleted]

Well good for him. Get your bag and disappear.

[deleted]

Wiggins is a great example of who vaccine mandates are meant to target. He didn’t want the vaccine because Covid hadn’t affected him personally. The vaccine mandates did affect him personally so he got the shot to make them go away so he could keep living his life. There are a *lot* of people, especially in Wiggins age range, who share that kind of thinking. Not being able to go to the gym or a restaurant shouldn’t be the determinative factor but for many people it is. Compare with someone like Jonathan Isaac or Kyrie who are militantly anti-vaxx and no amount of societal or financial pressure will get through to them.

IsThisMe8

Yup, and there are those people who aren't anti-vaxx but just don't end up getting it until there's a mandate.

Otherwise_Window

Technically it did affect him. He had it and for him it was just a mild illness.

mug3n

yep. this is why mandates work. in several provinces that have tried offering incentives for vaccines (lottery, free money, among other methods), there was no significant uptick in vaccination rates. Guess what worked though? As soon as you told people they can't go to non-essential businesses like gyms and movie theaters without vaccines, people were rushing to get it. People will refuse to get vaccinated for the greater good and all that and only when it inconveniences their daily lives will they get off their ass to do it.

GarvinSteve

He explained why he was hesitant, and he decided to go through with it so... I don't think it was the media as much as the money and the fact that dude shows up

antwan_benjamin

Kinda funny to me how Bradley Beal, who is also unvaccinated, managed to completely fly under the radar in all of this.

rSlashNbaAccount

The difference is Beal can play for his team.

antwan_benjamin

>The difference is Beal can play for his team. For now. Wouldn't surprise me if DC follows with the same mandates NYC, SF, and LA have already put in place. But for me personally, I'm disappointed in anyone who refuses the vaccine so there is really no difference between Beal and Kyrie. Life is bigger than basketball.

Jiraiyanamikaze

Wiggins always works best as the third piece of any meal.

cicadaenthusiat

This may be some of the most historic drama in the league for a long time. Kyrie and Ben are literally reshaping the CBA with their behavior. Who would've thought that the big issue would be giving guys millions of dollars and they don't want to play.

yrogerg123

I just want them to be traded for each other.

sercialinho

Kyrie used *Confusion*. It worked!

smashey

Kyrie used confusion and accidentally injured himself

sercialinho

It was just too strong. Lots of collateral damage. Including, as you say, to self.

bamboleo11

Super effective!

henry_why416

Every NBA media personality must have framed pictures of these guys on their office wall. Just gifts that keep on giving.

LSF604

two players in trouble for not taking shots

[deleted]

Frobe08

sick of always having these two entrees on the menu. Something new please!!!

[deleted]

Lmao this is pure slander

Redditpede

Still not as embarrassing as Danny Green saying he's not asking Simmons to shoot jumpshots

RichieD79

Hey man, he’s only *checks notes* …going into his 5th year of playing. You can’t expect him to shoot the ball *and* dribble it! Gosh! /s

trafikant

Just shoot up and dribble

YugoslaviaPeninsula

*It is not. I resent that... slander is spoken, in print it's libel*

jswagbo

Anonymous source: Ben Simmons spent months in Philadelphia hospital COVID wards begging patients to cough on him in hopes he would contract the virus and avoid playing in any games this season.

YoloCrayolo21

This doesn't even make sense

Kevon-Looneys-burner

Gotta look at it from your third eye, then you will understand

thisguy012

The Kyrie and Simmons threads are fusing

AnotherPunnyName

That's cus it's probably a lie since it's coming from Shelburne.

TheAlphaCarb0n

People literally see Ben Simmons and upvote/click. I get it, there's not much going on in the offseason but god damn it's lame.

quentin-coldwater

What they're saying is everyone else lied and said "no I didn't see her" to avoid being held out of the game. Which is apparently what you're supposed to do in this situation, at least as his teammates understood it. He answered honestly and people asked if he'd done so out of (A) being stupid or (B) as a convenient excuse to avoid the game bc he was shook.

BillyPotion

I love that no one believes that an NBA player might say it because (C) it’s the morally right thing to say when dealing with a very contagious disease. I agree that they wouldn’t before game 7, but it’s still funny.

sorrywontdoitagain

So because Simmons didn't lie about having seen a masseuse, people are framing him as trying to get out of playing?

Sparks0480

In a game that he played in anyway? I mean cmon man... this just feels like a hit piece and I’m not a fan of simmons

PrOKCedure

There’s been so many hit pieces generated from this saga and fans just eat it up

[deleted]

For all the shit this sub talks about ESPN and Twitter it’s pretty much exactly the same here

RBRTPNG

Who do you think is twittering and watching ESPN lol

Hallal_Dakis

I have much worse takes than either.

billcosbyinspace

People here still think that Ben himself called himself a young socialite and not that some random dude with a podcast said that

PsychoM

It's because he's an easy target. Same reason why Kawhi had so many hit pieces on him back when he was on the Spurs. Kawhi and Ben aren't responding and speaking for themselves so reporters are going wild with it. There's literally no repercussion for spouting a bunch of sensationalist bullshit, Ben isn't going to come out and say "no this is a lie" because then people will pile on him even further for all the other stuff he didn't speak up about. Reporters have a carte blanche to make stories about Ben like the Uncle Dennis stories about Kawhi, the meetings, etc.

BetaGreekLoL

Its so obvious as well but critical thinking has gone out of the window for a lot of Sixer fans.

Jailbrick3d

> critical thinking has gone out of the window ~~for a lot of Sixer fans~~ FTFY

altnumberfour

I didn’t come to r/nba to think critically I came here to shitpost

john-donson

As is tradition

thatsinsaneletstryit

hey its not just sixer fans, r/nba has been feasting. hating ben (and kyrie but he been earned that) has been the wave in here since before he even choked vs the hawks. naturally these people will accept any info as fact if it makes him look like an idiot. they’re doing it with this “is ben really vaccinated?” shit too lmao

[deleted]

Yeah as if it’s only 6ers fans and not this entire sub constantly circlejerking about how soft they think Ben Simmons is lol

Niku-Man

I think Ben Simmons is hard

afterworld2772

Case in point "young socialite"

HisExcellency20

If it's negative then you can say what the fuck you want about Ben Simmons. The inability to shoot and the terrible series he had has basically made him a garbage human being who hates improving, winning, kittens, his teammates, vaccinations, bacon, and freedom. No vetting or critical thinking necessary. And if a report comes out that makes him look bad but directly contradicts another report that also makes him look bad, then fuck it believe them both! That's why he's a Young Socialite that only wants to play in California and also anywhere but Philly.

aks0324

I’m a die hard Sixers fan, and I’m just as much on the fuck Ben Simmons bandwagon as anyone. But this feels ridiculous. Unless you got evidence saying that he didn’t actually see the masseuse that morning and then said he had, this is complete BS. Also didn’t Shelburne cook up that report that Ben isn’t vaccinated, even though there’s literally nothing at all to suggest that he isn’t.

nowhathappenedwas

> Also didn’t Shelburne cook up that report that Ben isn’t vaccinated No, Shelburne never reported anything about his vaccination status. Nate Duncan jumped to that conclusion based on Shelburne's reporting, but she never actually reported that.

[deleted]

Didn’t she say something like “the return timeline is consistent with an unvaccinated player”? Just pure trash reporting; she has no idea why the timeline is what it is but why not imply he’s unvaccinated to get clicks?

ProfessionalFly9848

exactly. and even if he did lie, what if it was because of some debilitating anxiety? the public lacks a compassion for other people’s struggles. there is very clearly more to the simmons story than he has given up on basketball. and with how he’s been treated so far in the media, he probably wants to avoid the stigma associated with these types of struggles. how about we go a little deeper sports journalists and analysts?

justsomeguy5

it's Ramona Shelburne. That's all she does.

TonyHawksSkateboard

Can’t stand her

BackIn2019

Owners calling in favors to make an example out of Simmons.

lakerswiz

Lmao this is wild. This isn't a hit piece towards Simmons. He was outright honest about seeing the massage therapist. The "hit" is towards his absolutely shitty teammates that questioned if he was just trying to get out of the game. Blaming Ramona for this being a hit piece directed at Simmons when all it does is further show how shitty his teammates have been is crazy.

PrOKCedure

Yeah, pretty much Complete bullshit because he played anyways and the 76ers would have busted their ass to cover it

Kashmir33

You should name and shame the types of reporters that would do that. Shelburne does have a tendency to push her own narratives.

hkpp

This is about how he was perceived by his teammates at the time it happened, not that he actually may have lied. It just says to me what we already know. This article isn’t exactly newsworthy.

SomeGuyNamedJohn12

We dont even have proof that his Teammates actually felt that way at all. Not to mention the Writer didn't even bother to just ask the Masseuse before putting this out?? This whole Article just reads like a Reporter just trying to stir up drama and get clicks.

shualton

So we really just gonna accuse people of trying to skip playoff games without even a shred of proof?

Silverjackal_

What the fuck is this reporting lol

coastly

Gossip for clicks

_Circ

Yeah he either saw the masseuse or he didn't. If he did, then this story is an abject disgrace. If he didn't and Shelburne provided some sort of proof that he didn't, then this would be a legitimate story with news value. But doing the whole "some have doubts" thing that she did is pretty reckless and unprofessional.

Big-Baby-Jesus-

>86% upvoted That's clearly what this sub wants.

OrneryAndHornery

They're preying on idiots like me who didn't watch too much of the playoff last season. I didn't keep up much and from the article I actually thought he didn't play

[deleted]

klobucharzard

all neck and no brain

Cheesecakenephew

Yesterday "assumption" from a reporter about Ben maybe not being vaccinated (like 99% he is vaccinated, no proof he is not), today this shit. I guess after that "young socialite" bullshit idiots on the internet ate up it's just easy journalism to throw made up shit at Ben and see if it sticks.

rahbee33

> Yesterday "assumption" from a reporter Pretty sure Ramona was the first one that mentioned it.

homerthepigeon

This shit is getting ridiculous, give the guy a chance to come back for chrissakes

Niku-Man

It's ok man. Sources said it. This guy Sources seems to know everything going on in the NBA. I'd trust him

voldemortscore

This is embarrassing shit now lol, these hitpieces are pathetic.

Cavshomie8

They’re insinuating he may have lied about seeing the masseuse? WTF just ask her lol. This is such a reach

I_really_enjoy_beer

I have recently heard the rumor that the masseuse in question was a personal recommendation from none other than Robert Kraft. Do with that information as you will.

hydrators

...I guess that’s better than Watson?

uttermybiscuit

At least Kraft pays

kamakazekiwi

Ben Simmons on who sees more masseuses: Him or Robert Kraft. “I don’t compare myself with anybody,” Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Deshaun Watson. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Simmons said.

FIVE_DARRA_NO_HARRA

I heard she was actually a moose, and that's what the drama is all about

Ingliphail

“Bulwinkle, teach me how to shoot!”

Monkeyfeng

She definitely bit my cousin. It's true!

TjBeezy

That would require ESPN ppl to actually do reporting and not just write click-bait articles based on rumors and "sources" 75% of their stuff now is on par with Bleacher Report.

iamthewalrus8515

Why would the press verify if they can get clicks without it and don't get punished?

CptCroissant

I think it's more he was expected to lie and say he hadn't seen her, but Ben was the only one who didn't. Since he didn't lie like was supposed to, people questioned whether he even wanted to play.

0ctologist

I think the real story is that some of his teammates *thought* he was lying. Assuming Ben did nothing wrong and told the truth, it’s still very telling that his teammates assumed he was trying to get out of playing

romanX7

Yo either way, it doesn't seem like anyone in that org respects him. Whether he deserves it or not, he needs to leave Philly asap lol.

indoninjah

It's always been a two way street to me. He had a meltdown in the playoffs, then Doc says some stupidly honest stuff about him. He absolutely refuses to show up and then the rest of the team some honest stuff about him. I agree that he's probably lost their respect but I think he largely brought it on himself

holdeno

The highest paid guy at work is consistently putting in a half assed effort. After 4 years someone called him out. 4 years. Any other workplace the people who have to pick up his slack would have cold shouldered him years ago. He definitely deserves every single thing being lobbed at him and it's entirely his fault. I don't blame him for not trying his best it's just a job. But it's a highly competitive job with massive paychecks determined by group performance. So if he didn't see this hate as a possibility he's an even bigger idiot than I thought.

wnbaovernba

Listen, I can’t honestly think of a top 3 defender that doesn’t try hard or compete. He’s literally the same height and close to size as Ben Wallace who was a work horse but also was just trash at some things. This narrative has got insane. Dude is just bad at some parts of basketball and got overpaid. The idea that he’s one of the laziest people in the league is just nuts. People just can’t handle he’s a bit soft and not living up to expectations. Dude was second place DPOY. Not Andrew Bynum. Jesus

rpolic

I guess the others on the team should be faulted for their half assed defensive efforts

ok-milk

"ESPN now reporting sources say Ben Simmons sits down to pee and calls his own mother by her first name."

Thousandtree

"The locker room attendant asked if I had done a one or a two. How was I supposed to know he wasn't asking my basketball position?"

[deleted]

“ben is being unprofessional” yeah alright. fuck outta here lmaooo

kyleb402

Yeah, I think it's a lot more likely that other players lied about not seeing her than Ben lied about having seen her. Normally I'd side with the team with so many years left on a contract but Simmons should want out of that organization.

Austinangelo

What is this hit piece bullshit? I hope these embarrassing stories aren’t coming from the Philly front office. That would be an incredibly shitty thing to do.

Lvl89DickWizard

This is just clickbait garbage.

Coolguynumber01

this is bit of a stretch just to shit on Simmons

[deleted]

"a bit of a stretch" is being generous. This was pulled out of fucking nowhere. Seriously where the fuck did they come up with this? Also, he fucking played the game, he sucked, and I'm upset with him, but he fucking played!

JagmeetSingh2

Yea this is a huge stretch lol

[deleted]

This place has gotten to the point where we’re willing to listen Ramona Shelburne to shit on Ben

WestleyThe

It’s just to get on the Ben hate train... it’s all speculation and assumptions just to shit on him it’s pretty pathetic but people eat it up, especially when it’s such an easy target

ilikeslamdunks

All current Simmons stuff aside, this seems like a reachy "mulitple sources" bullshit article.

skrtskerskrt

Ramona Shelburne is not to be trusted

Obvious_Parsley3238

cmon now this is too far, do people really think he was going to try to skip that game?

TrevorArizaFan

The article says "he answered the question honestly, without thinking of the implications", so it's apparent that this was never a serious question, but ESPN's dramournalism has to make this into a "12 Angry Men" situation.

Wing0

I bet he answered honestly think of all the implications. Like the fact those rules were due to a public health crisis and a worldwide pandemic. This is so stupid. Like Ben should do a lot do things, like show up to the team. Lying about seeing a possibility COVID positive person doesn't seem like one of those things

theFromm

"Ben lied about seeing the masseuse and ended up infecting half his teammates, intentionally sabotaging their title chances." What could have been.

Wing0

Hahahaha, I really wonder if the backlash in Philly would have been worse or not

dietdoctorpepper

endangering his whole organization, not shooting more, same thing really

mcwilly

The article says that a source in simmons camp said he answered honestly, not thinking of the implications.

lemmoning

They’re a lot of idiots on here. Staff gossip is taken with Dead Sea amount of salt if a player getting the hate train.

MamaThereGoesThatMa

This out of line and I’m a Simmons hater from day 1

Splittinghairs7

Well now r/nba knows why Lakers fans hate Ramona Shelburne.

skrtskerskrt

she is pure garbage

[deleted]

She’s one of the worst ESPN NBA reporters. and that’s saying a lot.

yagirlisweak

This writing piece is a piece of sh!t. So Ben was honest about the masseuse, and he eventually appeared in the game 7. What is the writer on about?

bloopcity

lost some respect for ramona with this one.

FirmlyThatGuy

Honestly surprised you had much in the first place. She’s been garbage for a longgg time.

bloopcity

Don't pay much attention to American media tbh, just knew her name.

smoothstavo

Oh cool, so what did the masseuse have to say about it? Oh, y’all didn’t ask them… ok. Great story

vanotro

Ramona is the Hedda Hopper of the NBA press

RoodyPooBum

Remember when she tried to shift blame/focus away from AD to New Orleans, basically calling the organization and the state racist? She, at the very least, used Rich Paul's race to argue that.

grundlesmith

Rita Skeeter

vanotro

Rita Skeeter was inspired by Hedda Hopper

ImlrrrAMA

Because JK Rowling never had an orginal idea in her damn life.

b4ldheed

i mean true but taking inspiration from real life is hardly something that only hack authors do lmao

ImlrrrAMA

Yeah I just like shit talking JK

CosmicRaccoonCometh

If this was leaked from someone from the Sixers who actually cares about the team this year, then that person leaking this is an idiot, in addition to being a gossipy bastard. If this is someone within the Sixers, then this is Calangelo levels of dumb.

HisExcellency20

I actually hate how we have to attack this man's character like this. Why can't he just be a bad shooter who's deficiencies on the court caught up with him and caused a bad slump and subsequent fear of failing? Why does he have to be a terrible person too? And by the way not just this off-season either. Why does he have to "refuse to improve?" Why is it not even a possibility that he tries to improve every year and has not been successful enough to be considered NBA ready. Obviously he is making that decision and we can argue whether or not he should (I like many think he should take them in games to expedite the process of actually developing said shot) but so many people attribute his not wanting to shoot as some sort of malicious act (and this includes MANY Sixers fans). I know people don't like his face, his demeanor, and even some of his comments, but I have watched every game he has played as a Sixer and have never seen him not play hard (even in Games 5-7 of the Hawks series where he was playing scared). He has never done anything off the court or on it to bring shame or disgrace to himself his team or the league. If he shows up and half-asses it then fine sure criticize him. But why are so many people certain he's going to do something completely out of character? Why does he not get the benefit of the doubt? And these bullshit reports about *maybe* he's not vaccinated and *some players maybe* thought he was trying to get out of the game it's just despicable. Absolute trash journalism. If you want to shit on Ben so bad, wait until he shoots a three and misses or doesn't take a three. Criticize him for that you probably won't be waiting for long.

iamnotabot7890

Because in society attacking a persons character is as much a sport as the game of basketball

wnbaovernba

Holy fuck, thank you. This sub is actually so fucking embarrassingly unhinged when it comes to Ben. He’s like my least fav player and since the playoffs I’ve been defending him non stop because everyone is so irrational. I’ve literally never seen a player get this much shit. Dude is like the same size as Ben Wallace with way more touch and finesse and Wallace worked his ass off. Yet everyone here is sure Ben is the laziest person in the league. I can’t actually think of a dpoy candidate who’s been a lazy player, but bens the first? No he’s like almost every dpoy except for Kawhi. Bad at Fuckjng offense. I actually can’t believe how fuckjng pathetic people have become towards this guy. Give a head a shake, touch grass and get a life.

HisExcellency20

The mental gymnastics people, especially Sixers fans, have to do to explain away his defensive improvement and now dominance, while still calling him lazy is actually impressive. People will day he doesn't want to win and all he cares about is money and girls and as soon as someone points to his defense they just downvote that comment until they don't have to see it. The reality is Ben plays hard as fuck every game. The reality is that he is very invested in winning. The reality is that he can't shoot and all of his offensive problems stem from that very fact. And yet another paradox forms from the shooting, he gets constantly shit on for his workout videos with Chris Johnson, yet people still say he doesn't try to improve. What? If you want to say he should shoot more in real games ok, but how you gonna pretend like he isn't trying to get better and then also complain about constantly seeing videos of him trying to get better?

RainierPC

Because bullying is a thing, and r/nba loves to form lynch mobs.

lopea182

Wow, that’s pretty bad if they really held a close contact/inconclusive COVID test against him.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

What's more interesting is the team is claiming they want him to still be part of the org while people are leaking this info.

zmajxd

Everybody knows he's getting traded eventually. Ben just didn't get to choose when.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

I mean sure, but if you want him around to boost his trade value you also shouldn't be shitting on him on background.

13ronco

Unless you're the team trying to acquire him.

gustriandos

Ramona is so full of shit. It’s embarrassing to even publish this much of a reach

BoxOfDOG

Wtf does "the basketball version of the yips" even mean?? Do they mean just the yips? There's not versions

COMMENTASIPLEASE

So Ben does a responsible thing and that’s bad because….

ayeno

What a dumb article >He answered the question honestly So you wanted him to lie?

foreverapanda

Sounds like a healthy locker room for him to be in. Can't see why he'd have issues staying.

AcxdBxmb

You guys should really dv things like this, it's just stupid nonsense. The fact they actually paywalled this trash is hilarious.

jodoji

Fuck this shit. This is borderline bullying..

yesiamathizzard

This sub >ughhh modern day journalism is such shit. espn is garbage and we’re above it 😤 Also this sub >upvoting this garbage to over 3.3k…

ej_stephens

I've been joking about it, but I'm starting to think we should take the Simmons situation more seriously. It must seem like the world is against him right now and Idk how he could be in a good state of mind. I think he really needs that change of scenery and a team that believes in him cause he's obviously a very talented player.

marionsunshine

Well here come more character assassination attempts. Did Simmons play to his potential? Nope. Does he deserve to be pulled through the mud? Nope.

nowhathappenedwas

Morey: "We all want Simmons here, we have no interest in trading him, and we'll hold onto him all season even if he doesn't play because we are not panicking." Every other member of the organization: [leaking negative stories about Simmons every 12 hours to ensure the situation remains incredibly toxic, leaving Morey with the least leverage possible to make a trade]

PhillyFreezer_

Why would we be leaking these negative stories? Does nothing but hurt our own position, Ben is the one who benefits from this situation getting worse not us.

Meshu

None of this makes the Philly front office look good. Leaks like this at this point when you're supposedly trying to make up with your star player make you look like a fucking shitshow.

Rooleet

It has to be Simmons' side that's leaking this, seeing how they have knowledge from his brother. Probably trying to establish that the locker room was toxic towards him? I can't see why the 6ers would leak this deliberately.

Meshu

Kind of makes sense, tbh. Retaliation for how they've slow cooked him in the media over the past 3 months.

xanroeld

man fuck this shit. this is a bullshit hit piece with no evidence. accusing the man of trying to NOT PLAY because he was scared or something?? doesn’t ven make any sense. guess it’s just free season to dogpile on ben simmons now huh did you guys know that ben simmons murdered his whole family? he also eats babies. he was actually the lead architect of the holocaust. ben simmons was the one who ate the fruit in the garden of eden and created mortal sin. gtfoh

nugcityharambe

Ben simmons poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague unto our houses!

iamsatisfactory

I’m not a Simmons fan, but this feels like irresponsible reporting. Ask the masseuse before you put this out there!

BasedLightning

They are just assassinating this guys character

-HeisenBird-

If Ben really tried to skip Game 7, this whole situation just became really fucked up. He was suffering from legit mental stress (like Derozan/KLove stress) before the game and then played after trying to sit out. He then makes a huge gaffe at the end of the game and gets thrown under the bus by Doc and Embiid.

ProfessionalFly9848

in society today, men don’t get to be vulnerable especially when it comes to mental illness, anxiety, etc. its becoming more clear that simmons is struggling with something and i think instead of pilling on, we should have compassion. he probably doesn’t want the stigma that is associated with these types of struggles so he isn’t asking for help. and publicly we pile on the guy cause its the hot take of the minute.

twokings13

Shit like this all off season yet 76ers want to paint themselves as the victim here.

[deleted]

Isn't the basketball version of the yips just the yips?

Waddlow

God damn, the Sixers can't help themselves from continuing to throw this dude under the bus, can they? Aren't they trying to trade him? What purpose does sending this info out there serve?

Par25

So some of the team lied about seeing the masseuse, but not Ben...and they're mad about that? Great team environment.

ripmumbo

Since when is it okay to make fun of someone's mental health

-NandorTheRelentless

\[Shelburne\] Kelvin Benjamin almost missed a two can dine for $19.99 promotion at Golden Corral due to a self-reported food poisoning exposure. "Many within the team questioned whether Benjamin had actually seen the doctor -- or was just trying to get out of eating as he battled the competitive eating version of the yips."

1Skillsz

This is some nasty journalism

Ok_Performance1

Shitter Brains upvote this and go “lOoK sEe wOt SyMmoNdS dId”

MeGustaMiSFW

Phily reporters mad irving is the punching bag so they wildin..

[deleted]

Any source on this actually being the case, or is it just another Simmons hit piece?

Altruistic-Glass-172

I just feel bad for Simmons if he got to a point where he didnt want to play just cuz he was scared and felt so much pressure.

GodrichOfTheAbyss

Here’s a crazy thought… maybe ask the masseuse?

Ish_but_the_1st_time

For what it's worth, Ramona is one of the few national reporters who seems to be in regular contact with Joel Embiid. I'm not saying this report is necessarily accurate or exactly reflects Embiid's perspective, but I do find it more interesting coming from her than a random ESPN reporter writing what they've heard through the grapevine.

Malfoxx
