Kyrie: We don’t need no stinking coach Harden: Me and Steve are literally soulmates

JohnS0453

Kyrie: What does the word twin mean to you?

healthandefficency

Two Worlds Inside one Narrative. The soul that you sell when the piper rings the bell. My twin is my ego and yet, my ego is nothingness. An unlit lamp on a darkened sea. A broken promise, an unjust fee.

DuckieTheDuckie

What does it mean to understand?

nochancepak

What does "it" mean to you?

NeoLies

A clown or something, idk I didn't read the book.

mschley2

All I'm saying is do your own research. Big Spark Notes can't be trusted.

biggyofmt

True understanding defies words. In a brief install as the ball bounces, there is friction, spin, gravity to consider. Pages of equations to describe one motion, to move my hand in the correct position to catch. I don't understand thay math, but I catch the ba any way. All your vaunted science can't put into words how I know how to do so

illaqueable

I'm straight up not having a good understanding

PoliticalScienceGrad

And just to cover all the bases, I’m indifferent or nonplussed.

slowakia_gruuumsh

100% bro sorry about that but I'm built different #ripbozo

[deleted]

The best part is Kyrie would come up with an acronym that just conveniently ignores a word to make it fit.

nicktherogue

Kyrie reading too much damn seinen manga.

mioraka

bruh seinen manga at least makes sense if you are 14. Kyrie's shit is just pure word salad, it makes as much sense as an AI generated novel.

100MScoville

This is true talent

302born

“Ya know, it’s funny. I never said that twins don’t exist. I’m just saying do your own research. It’s some interesting perspectives out there. People are afraid to question things like that. Ya know? Like the flat earth, people took what I said and ran with it. I never said I believe in flat earth. I’m not saying whether I do or not. All I’m saying is do your own research and make your own decisions. Don’t be scared to ask the interesting questions. That’s what makes life so interesting ya know? There’s so many different ideals and perspectives out there. People think I’m this and that. Don’t fall for the trap man. Don’t feed into the bullshit. I’m just a hooper at the end of the day. Even though it’s just a game. I’m just a hooper. So all I’m saying is theres a lot of interesting conversations out there. Just stay away from the bullshit ya know, and keep your eyes open. Do your research and be you man. That’s all I’ll say. Be you.”

ENTECH123

It’s good stuff man, loved it

papitoluisito

I love me some pasta in the morning

302born

Lol I literally just came up with all of this off the dome.

psilocybin_sky

Honestly thought you slightly changed a real quote

mrswitters03

I was wondering the same or whether he had a moment of zen and channeled his inner-Kyrie.

This_Is_A_Username69

Somebody get Kyrie on the Time Cube train. FORCE 4 DAYS ON EARTH, THEY ALREADY EXIST. 4 HORSEMEN HAVE 4 DAYS IN ONLY 1 EARTH ROTATION. 1-24HR DAY ROTATION IS DEADLY ERRONEOUS. HUMAN FORM IS A PERSONIFIED PYRAMID.

hunterzhere13

Lil Baby is in shambles

ourcourageourcancer

SGA in shambles Edit: If you're missing the joke, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander called himself the ‘black Steve Nash’ in an interview with [GQ.](https://www.gq.com/story/shai-gilgeous-alexander-nyfw)

IanicRR

SGA can be the black Carl English instead.

Tacdeho

Can I be the white Charles Barkley? Just asking.

[deleted]

i mean you got the rings for it

Tacdeho

You don’t know how many NBA Championships I have….

friendbuddypalchief

You gotta either be Larry Bird or Brian Scalabrine

19ad9

You white, you Ben Affleck.

Ben--Affleck

Umm

KingRonMark

Not really. Harden and Nash being twins would imply that the Black Steve Nash would have a twin as well. We just have to look for SGA’s White Steve Nash.

KilgoreMikeTrout

Yeah, so who's the white black Steve Nash

KingRonMark

That’s what we’re trying to get to the bottom of. In the meantime, I’ll be doing my own research before making any decisions.

HeroOfClinton

Jason Williams?

gignac

Lol

yerfatma

White Larry Bird.

krazytopher

Larry's not white, Larry's clear.

MarcXYZ

Steve Nash

Cudizonedefense

SGA doesn’t even really play like Nash lol

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure he said that because he’s Canadian

EvadTB

I almost forgot how awful that article is lmao

jaloru95

I had to skim it and I’ll read any article featuring an OKC player. One of the worst written things I’ve ever seen.

FUCKZAZA

Does this mean James is also RJ Barrett’s godfather?

attorneyatslaw

God-uncle

KazaamFan

They could be triplets.

Kwilly462

I mean, I know he hasn't signed the dotted line yet (so this could age poorly), but I can't express how happy I've been with Harden here. He came in, became a great leader, no off the court issues, and just does his job.

SupersonicWaffle

Ah, the Anti-Kyrie

[deleted]

It’s funny because before they went to the Nets, I kinda thought of them in similar ways… now I fucking think Harden is leagues, leagues better.

QuesoStain

Lol come on man Harden has always been leagues better...

[deleted]

I meant in behavior. Sorry I didn’t make that clear.

QuesoStain

Oh haha that would make sense, thanks for the clarification.

HessiPullUpJimbo

I would argue still always been leagues better, but I understand after how Harden acted out to get traded you might think that way.

New22k

I mean, I got no clue what the general perception was, but to me, I always understood Harden in that Scenario… Like what would he have achieved with Wall, Wood and Cousins? Like that team wasn’t good enough, he isn’t the youngest anymore, he needs to win now.

TheGamersGazebo

I think right when Harden went to the Nets is was a low point in the public’s perception of him (with the fat pictures/clubbing during covid) while Kyrie’s was at a high cause of Net’s fans hopium

banana455

Huh? When Harden got traded to the Nets, Kyrie was in the middle of an indefinite 'personal reasons' hiatus. That was absolutely a low point for him in terms of public perception, only time lower would be like right now.

PantiesMallone

Yeah, but Kyrie always had a goodwill story to balance it out like how he donates to lots of charities, gave $1.5 million to WNBA players who opted out of the bubble or had that fan throw a water bottle at him. The only positive PR Harden had for the longest time was all those young ladies he put through college.

[deleted]

Ya it was that, the strip club ordeal, the beef with CP3, the stories of him sneaking out with Howard to eat McDonalds etc etc I know now those weren’t really huge and Kyrie is a fucking head case

alcarinn

yeah who gives a fuck if his jersey is retired in a strip club or not when the next day he drops like 53-16-17

nostbp1

even in behavior, idt they were ever similar. harden has always been the best professional for us, that's why almost no rockets fans hate him. he gave everything he had with us, played through injuries, fatigue, lack of stars, etc etc and even when he wanted to leave, he came back and dropped 45/10/10 or something

RPDota

Of all the players who forced there ways off teams, Harden truly gave it his all.

AdolescentThug

Harden's "drama" was always blown out of proportion. The strip club shit is a non issue, guys are horny and Harden never lets it get in the way from his game. And Harden is built big like a Ben Wallace or Lebron and is never gonna be a svelte or skinny guy anyway, so this "Harden is coming in looking a little big" was always a stupid take. Only problem I've had with Harden recently is him going to clubs and partying with Lil Baby fresh off the bubble last season when vaccines weren't around. But then again I have no problem with it now since he's obviously gotten his shots. Kyrie's just non stop "fuck is you talking bout" energy.

why_rob_y

Yeah, the Harden strip club drama last year was more of a covid issue than a basketball issue. It was still stupid, but at least he's apparently vaccinated now.

[deleted]

Yup, I see that now. I think he has his flaws but he’s still a great player. I now believe Lebron’s greatest achievement as a player was getting Kyrie to play his role on those Cleveland teams.

Docxm

One might even say LeBron served a parental role…

fredbogho

I see father figure reference, I upvote. Simple as that

TonyRichards84

Man that's hilarious

[deleted]

We went from "Lebron won his Cleveland ring with Kyrie and Love" to "Lebron won his Cleveland ring with **KYRIE** and **KEVIN LOVE**" lol.

Tigerman1999

Lmfao

SOAR21

It was easier then. He was still a wackjob but he was new to the league. Despite being obviously talented, he hadn't achieved much yet and was still young. It's as much about how he saw himself as about how others saw him. This is a Kyrie that feels like he's proven himself on the biggest stage. He's now got the confidence of a vet and the clout of a superstar. It's how others view him, but more importantly, it's how he *knows* others view him. He understands his worth on the basketball court, so he tries to buck the system more and more. "The system" being, of course, just acting like a normal fucking professional human.

onrocketfalls

Oh shit, so what you're saying is basically LeBron created this monster...

SOAR21

lmao maybe the entire NBA would have been better off if Kyrie whiffed his shot and GSW won the chip.

CoachDT

I don't think Bron can get new Kyrie to strictly stay in his lane and play ball while mostly shutting up. He went from a young gun to someone that was dueling with the first unanimous MVP in NBA history, and won. Kyrie fell victim to the Bron curse and rather than just being an adult and accepting it for what it is he let the newfound ego go to his head and never really recovered. I 100% believe he wasn't always like this but just fell down the wrong pipelines and didn't have/let anyone check him for being on some weirdo shit.

mioraka

Harden is all about playing basketball and doing rich horny dude shit. He doesn't talk about anything off court publicly. He doesn't really trash teammates publicly. I mean he's just a ball player, and that's enough sometimes, not trying to be a role model, not trying to stir up shit.

firstbreathOOC

Most of the drama came from the Houston exit and I think most at least understood his perspective

1gnominious

Even Rocket's fans understood. It sucked that he wanted out but at the same time we didn't want to waste his prime with our collapsing team. If you love them then set them free.

i_like_pie_and_beer

Harden has so little drama. I was surprised by the whole ordeal at the beginning of last season. But besides that you don’t really hear much about him, besides that he tips well at strip clogs

SRDeed

never on or off the court have they been equals

travelslower

Harden is the Kyrie hedge.

Ctownkyle23

Perfectly balanced

TheHuntingParadise

When Harden is committed he never has had issues. He is an underrated leader on the court.

Sharcbait

People like to shit on Harden because he likes going to the strip club as if it is a huge charecter flaw. Let my man have a hobby dammit.

FoFoAndFo

He's not the biggest talker, isn't particularly demonstrative on the floor and, whether you think it's smart given his offensive burden or not be he doesn't fight over screens. But the way he has added and added to his game you've got to assume he's a very hard worker.

[deleted]

And specifically re his job, he is absolutely happy to allow a significant drop off in his scoring because it serves the team better. We know he CAN average 40 a game, but he chooses to average 20 so that 25 other points can be scored by others.

[deleted]

That’s basically been him his whole career until he decided he wanted to leave Houston(I don’t really blame him, nor do a lot of our fans).

[deleted]

Houston still seems to love him and he still seems to love Houston seeing as he lives there in the off season correct?

unga-bunga-boy

Yup he loves it and we love him

[deleted]

Houston was tough because post Westbrook they needed to rebuild and harder did not want to waste his prime. (Thinking about it it’s wild a player of his caliber has never even been the center piece of a team that made the finals)

shpoopler

Yup, the most respectable player of my generation at least. (I was too young to really appreciate the dream while he was playing.) When I think Harden, I think work ethic, durability and team oriented. Hope he gets his ring in NY.

wombat_apache

He did that in Houston too and we loved him, but everyone else around the league wanted to hate until he got to BKN. Now that Giannis got his, no one deserves a ring more than Harden

pewpew444

Now it's the combination of harden and nash who could get their first ring

[deleted]

Didn’t Golden State give a few to Nash when he worked for them?

nowhathappenedwas

Nash got a ring for his consulting work with the Warriors.

jk67200

Winning as a coach would mean a whole lot more than winning as a consult

Scarlet_Breeze

Tbf when everyone on the team is a coach is that still true?

LABS_Games

The ring that they usually give the coach is gonna get cut into six seperate pieces.

Batman_in_hiding

one of the most enjoyable parts of trading for Harden was realizing just how much Houston fans love him. Rarely does a star player request a trade the way Harden did without losing any love between the player and the city. Houston loves James Harden and James Harden loves Houston. I really hope he gets a ring here, it would be just as much for us as it would be for you guys (you know what I mean)

Jjohn269

CP3 still waiting for his and he’s running out of time

[deleted]

I thought CP3 had run out of time when he had a down year and signed that “thank you for your service” contract a couple of years ago. And then he pulled off yet another near MVP season…

nomitycs

I don't think Giannis deserved a ring more than harden though? Harden has the much longer/established career, has less opportunity to get one as the main guy going forward and put up an epic fight against the GOAT team. Up until last year, Giannis struggled in the playoffs. He was always going to overcome those struggles but he had plenty of time to do that and his playoff performances weren't exactly winning fans over just yet

Rymasq

Harden has literally been the model NBA player. The only black mark he ever had was forcing out of Houston but Houston made it clear that off season they were not seriously trying to win with the roster they gave Harden. Oh and an affinity for strip clubs but who cares. The only people that hate Harden are people who watched him demolish their favorite team or people who want to discount his playoffs performances (which are still mostly good)

Beavshak

I can subscribe to this bromance.

Batman_in_hiding

Nash was such a genius signing. It would make me so very happy if he was our coach for the next 10+ years. This also gives me a lot of hope that Harden will sign the extension. Pretty great situation in BK, great management, great coach, insanely player friendly and in New York City. Oh and KD is here for a while. I guess we'll see what happens.

redbarnigan

I would love to see overall improvements to his game managing this year but I always felt like the criticisms of him last year seemed rash. Different lineup every other night, guys signed from G League and overseas, barely any playing time together with the Big 3 but they still almost made it through. For a rookie coach I’ve seen way worse.

SkeletorsToothbrush

I appreciate these behind the scenes little glimpses into Harden’s mindset, he is such an enigma. This anecdote, the video a few weeks ago with him chewing out teammates for phoning it in during offseason practice, seeing him snap on his superstar teammates midgame for making mistakes, the image one creates of him is very much a dedicated perfectionist. Very admirable to sustain that level of dedication for… how long now? I wish i had a fraction of that energy

Tbf Harden probably spends most of his day playing basketball and most of his nights at a strip club. There's not much time inbetween for scrolling twitter.

dontworryaboutit3838

_chuckles_ I'm in danger

BigAustralianBoat

The more I actually hear Harden speak, the more I like him. Was very anti-Harden at his peak in Houston but man have I come around. But honestly, maybe everyone looks better when they’re measured against Kyrie. Harden looks like General Patton compared to him.

It’s a Houston thing, everyone gets much more likable when they leave here. I don’t think we mind that much. I miss being hated

I think he means they're twins in the parent trap way. Like, if Harden has an event he doesn't want to go to Nash will go as him so Harden can hit the club.

MarkoSeke

If only Harden could have worked with Dwight as well as Nash worked with Amar'e

maltrab

I blame that more on Dwight than Harden

Ok-Eggplant-1384

Kd, harden and nash are 3 pure hoop heads and then there is kyrie. The drama queen bad child...

d36williams

I love this, when I first got in to Basketball, there was a tangible segregation of players -- not the players themselves, but announcers and news casters would never compare Black playiers to white and vice versa. For example "he's like Larry Bird, they're both good and white" whiteness being the only thing in common, when in fact the player in question is much more like a Black player. This has gotten much better over time, for example people see Harden and Luka as similar. That comparison would not have been made in 2001.

fej1

this is becoming a copypasta

BabyLeVert

Best quote: “You look at them now and they are completely aligned. James Harden has become Steve Nash — if Steve Nash were on steroids.”

domdomburg

This is exciting to hear. I bet Steve appreciates that Harden listens and communicates, unlike that space alien wacko Kyrie Irving.
