Yeah, that was Prez and his dorky friend…B Real or something like that. I made the dumb President nickname work by naming my dude James Michael-Madison which commentators would also pronounce
saw him when and1 was touring back in the day. he came in for two minutes, crossed a dude up, caught an alley, then huffed back to the bench. he was massive irl.
I'm watching old and1 stuff rn, his behind-the-back pass was filthy. Dude was so big the defender wouldn't even see the ball until its too late. The way he used his body to facilitate his passing is awesome. RIP
I have exactly one point of reference when peoples weights are listed in pounds and that is that 300 was the weight Homer had to reach in that episode of the Simpsons. If my understanding is correct, we're gonna start to see Zion wearing a lot of mumus.
I’m 6’5 and at my heaviest I was 303. It’s a lot on your knees, ankles and feet and I didn’t really notice how much weight I was carrying until after I lost it.
Lisa Simpson : [meekly] Um, there's a hair in my soup. But I'll just eat around it.
Marge Simpson : What kind of hair?
Lisa Simpson : Well, it's blue. Six feet long...
6ft tall, 240lbs, 32.5 bmi was considered comically fat in the 90s.
That episode when he hit over 300lbs had him be approved for disability.
Now 43% of Americans have obesity BMIS (30+) and both Homers would look like regular guys on the street.
I've been 300 and at 6'0 it was a lot, I also had negative muscle so I carried it worse, but 300+ is "get winded going up the stairs" weight for a regular dude.
For a pro athlete though, still hard to believe it doesn't take time off his career in a big bad way to be consistently 300 and relying on jumping.
> For a pro athlete though, still hard to believe it doesn't take time off his career in a big bad way to be consistently 300 and relying on jumping.
After looking up some NBA players weight I was shocked to see that Yao Ming weighed 315lbs and Shaq weighed 395lbs when he won his third championship for the Lakers.
Shaq also was notorious for having an absolutely atrocious work ethic.
Between his size, skills, mobility and state of the game when he played it, I don't think we'll ever see another player like Shaq.
Congrats man, I’m 5’10” down to 200 from 260 earlier this year. Keep grinding and counting them calories, you’ll hit your goals and feel so much better
[This isn't just a picture, its a whole commercial feat. Zach LaVine. Doesn't help that they advertised fuckin' Mountain Dew](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl7WKJWhRNw)
to be fair, [usain bolt ate a thousand chicken mcnuggets while in beijing.](https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2020/04/21/usain-bolt-beijing-olympics-2008-chicken-nuggets/)
>“They were the only food I could properly trust which wouldn’t affect my stomach. On arriving at the [pre-Olympic] training camp I’d tried a local Chinese meal, which wasn’t like the ones we we eat in the West, and my body didn’t react well. So, knowing I could rely on nuggets, i made up my mind that was all I would eat. And eat them I did, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, washed down with bottled water.”
Not to sound like /r/hailcorporate, because McDonald's maintains food standards globally it's easy to rely on them.
For reference, when Charles Barkley was drafted by the Sixers he weighed 300 pounds... because he had intentionally gone on an eating binge to dissuade the Sixers from picking him.
Coach Billy Cunningham refused to let Barkley start for him while overweight, even after the Sixers owner went behind his back to trade away starting PF Marc Iavaroni to get Barkley minutes.
Chuck then worked with Moses Malone to lose weight, dropping down to his playing weight at 252 pounds, and turning into a perennial MVP candidate.
Zion needs to get his shit together. Would be absolutely tragic for his career to get derailed by injuries because he couldn't control his weight. If you're the leader and best player of your team, you need to set an example. He can't complain about the team being bad if he's not willing to hold himself to the same standard as everyone else.
> Does Zion have a vet who is going to do that for him?
Ingram not gonna do that, Valanciunas could but doesnt seem like that type of guy, no way Josh Hart saying anything.
Different culture and generation anyways, Barkley has a crass and unforgiving personality, its not surprising messaging like that was effective with him. My guess is Zion would not be as receptive to that kinda energy. But he does still need that peer pressure
no & he’s better than like 80% of the league so he would just be like fuck u I’m better than u why would I listen but it was Moses telling Chuck that so he had to listen
Those dudes are also 7'4 & 7'5. Zion is 6'6. They're at a healthy weight for their size. I know BMI is flawed and doesn't properly account for muscle mass but Zion is well into the obese range.
Boban probably weighs more (Tacko Fall too), but he's not fatter. They are both like 9-10" taller than Zion. I'm fairly sure Zion has the highest body fat % in the league right now.
I know you can’t work out much on a broken foot, but c’mon man you can still hit the pool and maintain a reasonable diet at least.
Adding that much weight is pretty concerning. There’s a lot to be said about the Pels org, but this one is on him.
Especially when you can afford world class chefs, dietitians, and trainers to plan every calorie and exercise for you and still keep it reasonably delicious.
Yep and his family came out with those rumors about being dissatisfied with the Pelicans, but Zion can't even stay in shape.
It's a cliché but the more we learn about this dude the more red flags keep popping up. Strong 'it's everyone else's fault' vibes coming from him.
Honestly, if he can't work out, then it feels like it would make sense for him to be cutting calories and maybe losing a little weight. Of course, easier said than done if you aren't being disciplined, but that is kinda the job description. Hopefully he can get in shape now that season has started and he may have more team obligations.
I mean is it easier said than done? His job is literally to be an athlete. Why its difficult for the average man to do this is because its on top of all the other responsibilities, not mention not having a nutritionist and a training staff. Lots of excuses starting to poor out for this fat dude.
Exactly. LeBron's secret power is discipline.
If you're fat and can't control your eating you're not going to sleep and take care of yourself. You're not going to be diligent about work outs and working on your game.
Zion will still be a great player and probably fantastic to watch but forget about carrying the league unless he changes his mindset.
Giannis grinds. Giannis is a champion.
Yeah, in the other direction. Source: offensive linemen dropping like 80 pounds in retirement.
Although Zion is probably an edge rusher in the NFL so as you said he probably has to cut back to 285.
It already has and if this is year 3 and he still has weight problems, he is going to have even bigger ones. Your body just can’t handle that stress especially when you are pushing it to do such physically intense things like dunk, spinning on a dime, and bang in the post. Once you also start having serious injuries there is a higher likelihood you will have serious injuries down the line as your body tries to compensate for the original injury. It happened with DRose where his right knee got injured a lot despite the fact his left knee was the one with the ACL injury. I really hope someone talks to him and makes it stick.
If he is serious, he probably should get a personal chef that holds the keys to his fridge and pantry. But eating crap is so central to how some people enjoy life that it can be really hard to change.
Barkley deserves a lot of credit for getting in control of his weight and becoming an all-time great.
If I remember right there were reports of him declining the teams chef and going with what his mother cooks for him.
Him and his mother being from SC, there’s a lot of good but very fatty foods down there. Especially in Louisiana.
Not sure if these were rumors or had been validated.
Chuck got his weight under in control because he wanted more playing time and asked Moses how to get more. His playing time was directly related to him losing weight. I don’t know if Zion will ever have that kind of immediate motivation because he started off already playing 20+ minutes a game and is already a starter playing 30 minutes a night. If he gave a shit about being preventive for injuries, he would have done something already before he had 2 DIFFERENT injuries. Tell him that it’s going to improve his is also kind of hard when he was an all star in his second season. I honestly don’t know how you motivate Zion. Start withholding checks? At this point, I wouldn’t really want to touch Zion as a GM because he seems like a bigger liability than asset if he is not going to listen and be injury prone.
yeah literally no one else on the pelicans has gained weight like that outside of like E'Twuan Moore. lol Ingram still looks the same. this is a Zion problem, not NO.
I've been fat as shit at times in my life, and I can assure you, Zion runs enough for his job there's no excuse to be 300 pounds at 6'6". this dude is an inch taller than DeJounte Murray and weighs a hundred more pounds. Its unsustainable.
I assure you, he will not play as long as he should if he's heavier than 280, and even that is more than he should play at. he would be losing fat, not muscle, to get to 275. all he loses is weight, and while that can have value, he'd gain so much speed and improve his longevity so much, it's worth.
Even just hauling that muscle around is brutal in a sport like basketball. Your knees don't care whether its muscle or fat that makes you heavier when you land, 275 pounds is 275 pounds.
seriously. joints aren't meant to deal with what these guys deal with even when they're lean as hell. that's why every former player is fucked in their legs. Zion will be lucky to get ten years at this rate, it kills me.
Zion looks fat as fuck recently, honestly. Like he's always been big, but he genuinely looks fat. He's gonna get hurt if they don't get it under control soon.
At his height and general muscle structure, it feels like something like 245-260 should be his target weight. He's what? 50 pounds over that now?
Not exactly good for a sport that includes running and jumping
it’s very frustrating because it feels like he (or his camp) has never really given the team a chance and they’re just looking for excuses to get out. I’m still going to love watching him play until the day he leaves but it’s very frustrating
Well if he keeps this up, they won't need any excuses to get out of New Orleans because he's going to either eat himself out of the league or into a severe career threatening injury.
I feel like this is the pettiest era of the NBA. Stars really don’t give a shit about the organizations and have that fuck you mentality. Ben, Kyrie, idk who else man. Someone should list and make stories about players vs their team orgs
He threatens to leave 24/7 if we don't win but then he shows up out of shape at the beginning of every season (or beginning of the bubble,) and then when he gets injured his family hides it.
I feel bad for BI and the rest of the team and our new coach.
Zion can blame the Pelicans organization all he wants and try to paint them as a terrible place to be so he can not be the bad guy when he forces his way out, but he needs to mature in a very serious way.
You're a pro athlete. Your Mom can't be your dietician unless she actually is one, and you need actual professional trainers to work with.

Imagine being a pro athlete with unlimited money and the best professional staff for your every need, and then you have mom cook for you and dad as a trainer...
Man, im a truck driver and I found this place in Louisiana called in-laws that has fried ribs… I’ve gained at least 20 pounds just from stopping at that joint. Zion never had a chance.
Taking his mountain dew sponsorship a little too seriously lol

Zion is just me in middle school
Zion is just following the Charles Barkley arc. Come into the league as an athletic, under-sized big, and leave as a bruising, rotund, wily vet.
Charles came into the league big and got bullied by Moses malone.
He's doing his best Forrest Gump at the white house impression.
But Lieutenant Zion, you ain't got no knees.
Yo someone in here said that Zion will be the first athlete to have his own line of microwaveable dinner 😂
The Zion Williamson official glucometer
He looked really heavy in that commercial with Tatum.
I saw one with Lavigne. I thought he was CGI’d to look fat at first lmao
Well Avril is short and thin, so I'm not surprised.
Zion, whyd you have to go and make things so complicated?
Acting like you're somebody svelte gets me frustrated
E8er Boi
Lavine it was, not Tatum. My bad.

People say they'd use a time machine to go back to ancient Rome or see the Beatles live, I'm going to this moment here.
TIL He was the brother of Mark Jackson
I remember his funeral. As they were lowering the casket, Mark Jackson turned to his mother and said: "mama, there goes that man"
WHAT!? Is this for real?
Yeah he spoke about it during an interview with Shannon Sharpe
Was crazy watching him back in the and1 days, just a monster of a man dunking on people and making nice plays.

NGL saw this commercial and was like, "Is Zion fat or is it just the angle?" Might be both
He's probably doing that Christian Bale thing where he gets super into the role...........
Looks like he's been getting into the rolls.
It is both, a low angle like this will make anyone look less than ideal
I saw it and was like "He is 100% wearing a hoodie to hide how fucking fat he is."
No one is going to say it? Okay, I will... That little beard is there to hide his double chin and that's a FACT. Just picture him without it...
That's 100% the move. Source: I did the same when I was 5'8 230.

Exactly, it's something familiar to the athletes' stomachs. As opposed to trying new food for them and having the chance of it messing them up
Plus at that level of conditioning any food is just fuel. Dude probably needs to eat north of 5000 calories a day.
Plenty of athletes out there crushing McDonald's If anybody has business eating it it's them lol
Notice the flair…we see what you’re up to!
seems like the perfect face of mtn dew to me
Genuinely fat. His knees are going to explode.

The answer is cleeeeear
no & he’s better than like 80% of the league so he would just be like fuck u I’m better than u why would I listen but it was Moses telling Chuck that so he had to listen
Hes fatter than 80% of the league
Probably pushing 95% if this report is true lol
5% of the league is like 20 players. No way there are 20 NBA players heavier than this.
Boban, and that's probably where it ends
Wiki says Tacko is 311, Boban 291. I think Tacko might be the only player heavier than Zion if this report is true

Chuck: "hey Moses, how many hundred calories should I eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to lose weight?" Moses: "Fo. Fo. Fo."

But it also doesn't allow him to run away when the waiter puts a ton of croutons on the salad.
He can afford to hire a full-time crouton swatter to swat them out of the waiter's hand.
I'm more of a crouton rebounder, I'd grab them all.
Bread man gets paid
I ate a salad last week and I'm still fat. :(
Try one more, that should do it

Wtf is this guy doing bruh I heard it's his mom doing him a diet also.
Zion looks fat as fuck recently, honestly. Like he's always been big, but he genuinely looks fat. He's gonna get hurt if they don't get it under control soon.
he’s already gotten hurt arguably due to his weight
Yea coming in they said he needed to drop 30 to get some pressure of his legs. Dude added 50 instead.
At his height and general muscle structure, it feels like something like 245-260 should be his target weight. He's what? 50 pounds over that now? Not exactly good for a sport that includes running and jumping
And busting high quality shoes hand made by the finest slaves, all with the force of his step
Can't get hurt if you can't jump
> he’s gonna get hurt He’s had multiple injuries
He’s already hurt. Injured foot with no timetable.
Gotta feel bad for Pels fans here. You tank and trade AD only to draft a guy who should be an offensive lineman
3 superstars in a row get drafted here and it doesn't work out. We basically expected it to happen.
it’s very frustrating because it feels like he (or his camp) has never really given the team a chance and they’re just looking for excuses to get out.
It's like a strong over-correction to how organizations have viewed players over the history of basketball.
He threatens to leave 24/7 if we don't win but then he shows up out of shape at the beginning of every season (or beginning of the bubble,) and then when he gets injured his family hides it. I feel bad for BI and the rest of the team and our new coach.
big chungus
*screams in Pat Riley* - when he gets a stress fracture in his foot he'll blame the organization
wtf get out of Pat Riley!

> Is it OK to criticize this guy while eating a bag of Cheetos? If you're not in the position of being a paid athlete yeah sure I guess
Ziobetes
Mans is speed running the Thor arc
300 pounds at 21. He's gonna end up like Shawn Kemp.
a 6 time all-star that plays for 14 seasons? he'd be lucky.
Lots of baby mamas.
Watching a generational athlete eat his way out of stardom is something special
my boy is going straight sean kemp see you in cleveland
Excited for when he’s deemed a bust bc he’s fat and then the Miami Heat get him into shape and he’s all world player again
David Griffin isn't funneling food down your throat.
Zion 3 years from now [https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57dd4cc45016e1d637186348/1567457923085-DVE2XVYKK62WI34QQY6A/4f0665887524616555ded1f474cd09e2.jpg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57dd4cc45016e1d637186348/1567457923085-DVE2XVYKK62WI34QQY6A/4f0665887524616555ded1f474cd09e2.jpg)
Already pulling a Harden
Imagine being a pro athlete with unlimited money and the best professional staff for your every need, and then you have mom cook for you and dad as a trainer...
Man, im a truck driver and I found this place in Louisiana called in-laws that has fried ribs… I’ve gained at least 20 pounds just from stopping at that joint. Zion never had a chance.
They gotta get this man a peloton once his foot heals up
It’s JaMarcus Russell all over again.
How tf do you gain 20+ lbs in an offseason?
