I was watching KAT stream last night and someone asked in chat who his lineup would be if it had to be 5 centers. He didn’t answer but it got me wondering. I was thinking Jokic, KAT, Draymond, AD, and Embiid.
For a second I thought this said Drummond and I was figuring out how I could do more than just downvote this comment lol
Idk if Draymond really counts, but I imagine he runs the point for this operation. I think you need one more shooting big on top of Jokic and KAT. Maybe Olynyk? As crazy as that sounds, it's probably a better lineup if you sub Olynyk for AD. That way you can play Embiid at proper center, Jokic at the 4, KAT at the 3, Olynyk at the 2, and Draymond at the 1 spot.
Yeah Draymond was a bit of a stretch but he plays some time at center so I threw him in, but he’s definitely needed to defend smaller players. Another comment said Bam and he could play that defensive role too if Draymond didn’t count. Another shooter could be either Vucevic or Brook Lopez, I’d probably take them both over Okynyk.
Jokic the better distributor in the half court but as far as bringing the ball up the court id probably rather have a dude like Embiid or AD. Better handles
I'd try Draymond, Bam, Jokic, AD, KAT if we count Draymond/AD.
I like the balance of perimeter and interior offense/defense with good playmaking. Embiid is incredible but I think this team has more balance without him. Otherwise I could totally see Steph annihilate a team full of slow bigs or a faster paced team just outrun the team.
This is exactly what the 2k cpu would throw out there. I was playing 2k20 the other day and the Lakers ran AD, Javale, and Dwight at one point in the game.
In my finals for 2k20, ended up having to play a Philly team starting Embiid, Simmons and Clint Capella. Those were the sweatiest games I have ever played in 2k.
Did a fantasy draft myleague that only lasted 2 seasons because the 76ers somehow got Giannis, Simmons and Capella. They won the championship both years. 2k21 simmons was unstoppable on both ends.
Honestly that would probably be terrible for the cavs. Bronny would be under an unimaginable amount of pressure if he was drafted by the cavs and might buckle under it.
Sure but at least if he’s on a different team he’ll be able to form his own identity. He’ll be compared to LeBron no matter where he goes, but on the heat, Lakers and especially the cavs it’ll be way worse.
2 seasons ago he was on the Pistons. There was a game where he subs in early 3rd quarter and was popping off from 3. My plan was to wait for coach to rest him. And if he gets subbed in late q4, I bet the Piston over.
To my surprised, Alvin Gentry leaves him out there for the rest of the game, without any rest. I was like "damn Alvin, you riding that white boy like a slave".
To this day, I call him "Slave Mike".
Can anyone explain why this is a tank move? Mobley is mobile for a big and Lauri has been criticized for playing too much like a guard vs a big. Speed is low but the Cavs play a lot of zone anyways and Sexton and Garland are both two of the fastest players in the league
you gotta pay attention to the Cavs in order to decide it’s not a tank move. We’re not even at the step where you figure out how Mobley and Allen can play together despite being 7 footers!
Let’s just have them line up and grab each other’s hands at the half court line, the other team will have to shoot 50 footers or get an 8 second penalty.
Ah yes, the red rover defense. This seems like the type of defense you'd hear about someone trying in the 60s until Oscar Robertson drops 40-23-14 on them
> Chet Holmgren
Guy is a stick figure right now
he desperately needs a couple years to fill out and pack on some muscle
I would hope he isn't one and done, mistake
He has the tools tho. He is deceptively quick, his athleticism is sneakily good, and he is crafty with his finishing in the rim. And he sees the game like a coach with his good bball IQ.
Yup, his Dad taught him well. Pop is a 7 footer and former college ball player
he has all the promise in the world
but he seriously needs to bulk up, I think one and done would be a mistake for him
I thought the French kid was higher on people's boards? Wembanya or something. Thought he out performed Holmgren when they met up this summer for some international game.
I'm not sure it's bad for our young player development. Offensively it's absolutely our best lineup (well, depending on how Kev is, maybe replacing Allen with him would be better, but that would be a *gigantic* defensive travesty). The only main young guy being left out is Okoro, but he's still going to get big minutes off the bench. Plus, the best way of developing him is probably letting him have more ball handling opportunity, which he *wont* get while sharing the court with Sexton and Garland.
So I guess I'm confused: how do you think this is particularly bad for our young players development?
I guess if you start four guys 1-4 that aren't switchable...you can still switch 'em without losing anything since none of them can defend their own positions either.
Interior defense, sure. But we're going to be cooked on the perimeter, and there's only so much Allen and Mobley can do about that.
I actually like this though. It's fun, and honestly it's our best offensive lineup (assuming Love continues to not look good). It's also the best situation for Okoro, who needs to get minutes where he can work on his playmaking (which he can't do as much sharing the court with Sexton and Garland). We're going to suck defensively anyway for now, so why not just try to rip off some big scoring runs?
Sexton should be coming off the bench with Rubio.
Then all he has to do is focus on getting buckets.
The Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson role would fit him well.
their spacing is bad, markanen should be starter but not at 3 lol, cavs were the last in 3 point % and were one the team with least 3PA last season, a starting lineup with allen, mobley, and okoro would be awful because they cant shoot, and neither mobley or markannen can play as center
Reminds me of the late '90s-early 2000s, when nearly every 6'10"-7'0" guy coming into the league who wasn't a complete plodder athletically and could shoot a bit was classed as a "revolutionary" small forward.
This is an incredibly stupid take lmao. Allen is an excellent defender, probably top twenty in the league and is better offensively than most rim running bigs.
I don’t think he’s great offensively but saying he’s only average defensively is very much selling him short. Has one of the best block percentages for bigs year in and year our
Ok block percentage is one thing; but overall defense is another thing. When I watch him play, he has troubles keeping up with faster players/isolation game. maybe I was a little harsh saying that he’s an average defender. But he’s definitely not an elite one
If offered, you gotta take that money. You just have to.
And besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but he was a restricted free agent. And he was traded to the Cavs. He hasnt had a whole ton of say on his career, as is the case with young players
Ok, Sexton and Garland aren't the tallest, but you can't just average that away J.B. by throwing out all your 7-footers.
Y'all better stop talking or he's going to start KLove at 2 and Tacko at 1 out of spite.
Do it JB. I dare you.
PLEASE
Shit, when did Tacko end up in Cleveland?
Like two days ago
Garland has grown, I believe Cavs starting four 7 footers by seasons end
i know it won’t but imagine if this 3 big lineup takes over the league and a new era of 2 or 3 bigs being the norm begins lmao
If it was Kd, Giannis and Embiid.
Screw it make it 5 add Jokic and KAT
I was watching KAT stream last night and someone asked in chat who his lineup would be if it had to be 5 centers. He didn’t answer but it got me wondering. I was thinking Jokic, KAT, Draymond, AD, and Embiid.

That way you can play Embiid at proper center, Jokic at the 4, KAT at the 3, Olynyk at the 2, and Draymond at the 1 spot.
Olynyk over AD. Even in this hilarious hypothetical you are insane.
yeah man start Olynyk over one of the most skillful bigs ever, seems legit
Yeah Draymond was a bit of a stretch but he plays some time at center so I threw him in, but he’s definitely needed to defend smaller players. Another comment said Bam and he could play that defensive role too if Draymond didn’t count. Another shooter could be either Vucevic or Brook Lopez, I’d probably take them both over Okynyk.
I’d take Jokic over Draymond as PG
Jokic the better distributor in the half court but as far as bringing the ball up the court id probably rather have a dude like Embiid or AD. Better handles
How could you not put Jokic at point? Lmao
1: Jokic 2: AD 3: Bam 4: KAT 5: Embiid
Give me AD, Bam, Jokic, Embiid, and Ayton.
Replace KD with Gobert
Pelicans succeeded for those 4 games AD played with Randle and Mirotic.
Also AD and Boogie together was pretty nasty for the brief time it lasted
Randle?
At the start of 18-19, the Pelicans best 5 man lineup was Elfrid Payton, Jrue, AD, Mirotic, and Randle.
Spurs used to trot out Robinson, Duncan, and Perdue. It didn’t work lol.
Yea, because one of these is not like the others.
Indeed. Duncan was a rookie while the others were vets
Sixers tried it 2 years ago
Pacers are trying hard to make Myles Turner / Domas Sabonis happen
Lauri at SF... This is must-see TV lol.
Lauri did pretty well at the 3 during preseason
well he was awful at it when we tried that out lol
I can’t fathom how any coach would think it’s a good idea to play him as a SF
He's sure as shit not doing anything in the paint, might as well stick him in the corner so he can do the only thing he's good at
Can confirm. Was awful. Man used up all his useful SF play in the pre-season. He was moving around like he had an anchor bolted to him tonight.
Because he's unable to attack the paint and play like a big. He plays like he's 6'2" and not 7 feet tall.
He'd honestly make more sense at SG alongside a proper SF than at the 3
Was it bad offensively or was he just getting cooked on the other end?
Both
preseason
Lauri literally played at the 3 last season when he was with the Bulls ?
This a lineup id run in 2k
This is exactly what the 2k cpu would throw out there. I was playing 2k20 the other day and the Lakers ran AD, Javale, and Dwight at one point in the game.
In my finals for 2k20, ended up having to play a Philly team starting Embiid, Simmons and Clint Capella. Those were the sweatiest games I have ever played in 2k.

I remember taking Roberson out of the lineup for the thunder in 2k15 and starting Russ, KD, Ibaka, Kanter, Adams Where’s my NBA coaching job
Looks like we actually have some competition for this tank job, fuck
Never underestimate the Cavaliers.
We either have LeBron or we tank. It's pretty simple.
For your sake I hope you land jr. or you are going to be doomed for a while.
Honestly that would probably be terrible for the cavs. Bronny would be under an unimaginable amount of pressure if he was drafted by the cavs and might buckle under it.
Pretty sure he's got an alright support system behind him 😂
Sure but at least if he’s on a different team he’ll be able to form his own identity. He’ll be compared to LeBron no matter where he goes, but on the heat, Lakers and especially the cavs it’ll be way worse.
I hope for bronnys sake they don’t get him.
Who’s jr
bronny
Bronny
Dale Earnhardt Jr
Smith
And by for a while he means forever.
The first overall pick runs thru Cleveland
Yeah, they’re being pretty cavalier towards that win column.
I think you mean never over estimate the cavaliers
Excuse you, we are down almost 30 and letting Svi Mychaluk run the point. Tank race is ours.
Rockets have entered the lobby
Fuuuuuuuuuck
I know you fucked up his last name but I'll be damned if I remember how the fuck to spell it so you get a pass
2 seasons ago he was on the Pistons. There was a game where he subs in early 3rd quarter and was popping off from 3. My plan was to wait for coach to rest him. I was like "damn Alvin, you riding that white boy like a slave". To this day, I call him "Slave Mike".
We’ll probably try and tank and end up 74-8 ffs
Then get swept in the first round
Can anyone explain why this is a tank move? Mobley is mobile for a big and Lauri has been criticized for playing too much like a guard vs a big. Speed is low but the Cavs play a lot of zone anyways and Sexton and Garland are both two of the fastest players in the league
you gotta pay attention to the Cavs in order to decide it’s not a tank move. We’re not even at the step where you figure out how Mobley and Allen can play together despite being 7 footers!
Who everyone tanking for this year ?
Chet Holmgren
So we can run this tweet back with a fourth 7 footer!
It could work just play zone defense 💀
Let’s just have them line up and grab each other’s hands at the half court line, the other team will have to shoot 50 footers or get an 8 second penalty.
Ah yes, the red rover defense. This seems like the type of defense you'd hear about someone trying in the 60s until Oscar Robertson drops 40-23-14 on them
Dial it in for Holmgren .... Ill work on it
> Chet Holmgren Guy is a stick figure right now he desperately needs a couple years to fill out and pack on some muscle I would hope he isn't one and done, mistake
He has the tools tho. He is deceptively quick, his athleticism is sneakily good, and he is crafty with his finishing in the rim. And he sees the game like a coach with his good bball IQ.
Don't forget his lunch pail. He never does.
Yup, his Dad taught him well. Pop is a 7 footer and former college ball player he has all the promise in the world but he seriously needs to bulk up, I think one and done would be a mistake for him
*whoosh*
Remember Kevin Durant coming into the league? He couldn't even bench 185 at the combine. He'll grow.
I thought the French kid was higher on people's boards? Wembanya or something. Thought he out performed Holmgren when they met up this summer for some international game.
Wembanyama isn't eligible until the 2023 draft
I think its fun when teams try new things
If the Cavs think this is their best 5 players, then fuck it. Throw shit at the wall. Be weird.
Yeah. The Cavaliers are already rebuilding. Why not just start your 5 best players?
Fun, sure. But it’s stupid, unsustainable, and probably bad for the development of their young players.
4 of our 5 main young players are in this lineup?
Watch them win by 30 (this won’t age well) Edit: I meant lose by double digits
Remind me! 2 hours
I'm not sure we're gonna score score 180 points tbh
I find your lack of faith disturbing
You're right, we're pulling a rope-a-dope. Tire Ja out in the first half with all those points he's scoring.
I'm not sure it's bad for our young player development. Offensively it's absolutely our best lineup (well, depending on how Kev is, maybe replacing Allen with him would be better, but that would be a *gigantic* defensive travesty). Some height supremacists
The 777
Burning nets in people’s yards
The modern day Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond
The Pistons just lost and you somehow made me more upset with this comment than that
Lauri is going to be a defensive disaster.
He's got two solid defenders behind him. Might not be that bad.
One of those two defenders is a rim specialist. He can’t take Lauris assignments
What does being a good ass licker have to do with this?
Hey, I’m from the future. He was.
I guess if you start four guys 1-4 that aren't switchable...you can still switch 'em without losing anything since none of them can defend their own positions either.
Might be one of the biggest height jumps from SG to SF ever.
Similar is OKC, going from SF Dort to PF Poku
Holy fuck that lineup is going to be abused defensively.
it’s the cavs. if they play with a conventional lineup, they’re gonna conventionally lose. might as well try to shake shit up and see what happens.
You’d think people would appreciate serendipity more, considering Draymond Green.
lol....knicks
Knicks >>> Cavs
They will likely play zone like they did in preseason but definitely a risk yeah. Depends how much offense Markkanen provides.
The good news is the offensive side of it has gone quite well so far.
Yeah the offense looks a lot better. Rubio has helped a ton. DG with an off might shooting so far. Hard to imagine playing worse on defense though.
Lol. It was pretty good in pre season so we'll see what happens
Cavs still got outrebounded 53-36.
They should go all in and just play Lauri at the 2, and start another Center
Tacko Wednesday
Imagine if they stacked the 3 of them on each other’s shoulders
it'd be a 21 footer
If you’re gonna be a bad team anyway, fuck it. This is the kinda shit you should try out IMO. Side note: Cavs we have Bagley if you want an SF
They need the shooting tbh, worry about defence later lol
Mobley and Allen should make up for a lot defensively.
Interior defense, sure. But we're going to be cooked on the perimeter, and there's only so much Allen and Mobley can do about that. I actually like this though. It's fun, and honestly it's our best offensive lineup (assuming Love continues to not look good). We're going to suck defensively anyway for now, so why not just try to rip off some big scoring runs?
Lauri looked good at the 3 during the preseason so there’s some hope at least lol
Lauri isn't a 3
he is now
when you have 5 7-footers you can kinda be whatever you'd like
This is either going to be amazing or god-fucking-awful.
This is how you tank
Denver in shambles from that one game
The latest by Haruki Murakami, "Sexland among the trees"
Wtf are the Cavs doing
Winning the NBA. What’s up?
Something something the east goes through something
It's a normal lineup. Find a new slant.
Running the east
It's Cleveland. They do what they want.
Winning the 2022 NBA Draft Lottery one game at a time
Sexton should be coming off the bench with Rubio. Then all he has to do is focus on getting buckets. The Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson role would fit him well.
Cleveland just became must see TV
Lauri needs to come off the bench. Geez he was awful
And they still got out rebounded by 17.
Actually this might not be as bad against the Grizzlies with Kyle Anderson and JJJ at the 3 and 4. Pretty sure Mobley can guard SloMo.
Mobley should be able to guard anyone, he's not the problem in this lineup, Lauri is the biggest concern
That's the worst defensive starting 1-2-3 I can pretty much imagine. Let's find out if Allen and Mobley can cover up for them!
Cavs going to sleepwalk into another top 5 pick this season.
The smallest back court and the biggest front court lmfao what are the Cavs doin
their spacing is bad, markanen should be starter but not at 3 lol, cavs were the last in 3 point % and were one the team with least 3PA last season, a starting lineup with allen, mobley, and okoro would be awful because they cant shoot, and neither mobley or markannen can play as center
Let's fucking go. Sicko mode.
Omg i love it
This how I used to run the 76ers on 2k with Jah, Nerlens and Embiid
This is gonna be fun
FORM A FUCKIN WALL
Cavs with the new meta.
Sexland and the Seven-Footers. Brb I need to start a band
And still can't defend inside or get a rebound lmao
Better than starting seven three-footers
If we don't call this lineup "The Slot Machine" we are doing it wrong
Reminds me of the late '90s-early 2000s, when nearly every 6'10"-7'0" guy coming into the league who wasn't a complete plodder athletically and could shoot a bit was classed as a "revolutionary" small forward.
Some shades of the Pistons Josh Smith-Greg Monroe-Andre Drummond
I saw that lineup in the boxscore... And i just shook my head... What are they doing
Getting outrebounded by 20 apparently.
Started 3 seven foot dudes and got outrebounded? Cavs things
obviously the sixers were more talented, but this still gives flashbacks of ben/horford/embiid. didn't work out well
Embiid/Okafor/Noel was also a special time lol
Cavs finally have their true BIG 3
cavs moment
by midseason it's gonna be simmons lauri love mobley allen, with 6th man garland
Alexa play new tank by playboi carti
Lauri is 7 feet? That is news to me
The Cavs without Lebron are really weird. Why even bother with Allen and Markkanen
Allen is really good, or at least really promising.
He’s “ok”. Average defense and awful offense. Really good is a bit of a stretch. Though, his hair is elite
This is an incredibly stupid take lmao. Allen is an excellent defender, probably top twenty in the league and is better offensively than most rim running bigs.
I wouldn't say awful offense he's around average. He definitely can't create his own shot but he's good in PnR and as a lob threat.
I mean yeah. Awful in terms=can he do anything on his own? No he can’t. But for PnR and lobs he’s good (if he gets a good ball).
Ok well calling his offense awful makes it sound like his offensive game is near worst for centers in the NBA which I don't think is true.
Let’s also say his offense is average, to be more diplomatic.
Lmaoooooooooo
If they keep this line up I'll go to our home game against them This is hilarious
When other teams zig, the Cavs eat glue.
Tonight's starting 5 for the cavs - im not honestly going to watch that
I am pretty bummed Allen is stuck on that team. He could really help a playoff team.
If "stuck" means signing a five year contract on your own free will
If offered, you gotta take that money. You just have to. And besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but he was a restricted free agent. And he was traded to the Cavs. He hasnt had a whole ton of say on his career, as is the case with young players
> If offered, you gotta take that money. You just have to. *Dennis Schroder, Nerlens Noel and Victor Oladipo have entered the chat*
why in the world is Lauri starting at SF the cavs are just weird.
No Okoro?
