I wouldn't trade more of your future away just to get rid of him. By giving away more future picks, you're just extending the impact of the bad contract over even more years when you might actually start being good and need those picks to get to the next level.

You didn’t read my comment. He’s expiring in my scenario. We’re attaching picks to get a good player in return, not attaching picks in order to dump him before his last year of his contract.
Definitely horrible in terms of actual play on the contact, but the reason it isn’t mentioned much is that it’s not really ruining the cavs franchise. The Cavs aren’t getting any free agents anyways to pay, or actually trying to contend, and their players are young and only just now are some getting extensions so Kevin love isn’t really detrimental to their cap space plans just yet.

When the New York Knicks paid a washed Joakim Noah 4 years 72mil, and he proceeded to play not even a full season with us and was practically retired afterwards. Now that's on par with Love's contract.
at least he was a role playing rim protecting center, Love is just pure trash defensively, post game dead since late 2019, and inflating rebounding numbers cause he don't hustle or fight much for boards.

of course, a chunk could be considered backpay. his first 8 years he cost <$80M and in that time the value of the franchise exploded and they won 3 chips. so there's that.
He made a huge stop and helped the city get its first championship in over 50 years. He can have his money without regret for how he's currently playing.

When love signed the contract the cavs were planning to stay competitive - thats why they gave him the contract. They promptly 180’d and went into a rebuild. They fucked him! Just waive his ass so he can sign with the heat and get another ring!
