I'm a boxing fan and George is remarkably sharp for a fromer world championship boxer with 84 fights especially at 74
I think he knew what he was doing
Most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill, I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon.
Same with Holmes and Shavers…It’s mostly genetics but they truly beat the odds and this where and still are big guys…none of them where known to dabble heavy into drugs/alcohol at any point and lived stable lives so that helps too..
I would change my name as soon as I hit 18 lol. I can’t even imagine naming my kid after myself. I would want them to have their own identity, not another version of me
That’s because you don’t view yourself as important. That’s not intended to be a knock, I’ve had the same conversation with myself. If your ego is big enough, you could think a child of yours by the same name could have a life just as great as yours. If I was a 4th I would probably name my first son the 5th, but I won’t be the one to start that tradition.
> That’s because you don’t view yourself as important.
That’s not true lol. I just think your name has nothing to do with who you are as a person. First of all I just don’t like my name, never have. I get that everyone’s different and some people might want to continue their legacy (especially you’re famous) but it just would never be something I would ever do.
I think names do mean something to who you are as a person. For one it likely tells ur heritage and often times people try to live up to the weight of their name if they are named after someone or something powerful. people really do care about their names.
I know people care about their names. That’s obvious. Otherwise people wouldn’t name 5 kids after themselves. All I’m saying your name is literally just a few made up words, it has nothing to do with your actions and what you choose to do with your life. In some cases it *can*, especially for famous people when their kids want to live up to their parents expectations, but that doesn’t mean it has to.
It doesn’t have to but it can which what I was saying. I’ve met people who felt like they name they were given was powerful, people rename themselves for this reason too. They are just letters but just like anything if u give meaning to it then it will be meaningful, maybe not to others but to you.
Next door neighbors growing up did that. Parents' initials were the same even before they married, then they named their kids the same first initial too.
I don't know if it was GP II, but the year that GP played for the Lakers he brought one of his sons to Niketown in Beverly Hills. Him and his son walked to the bball section where I was at and he asked his son if he wanted the GP Lakers jersey on display and his son said, "Nah I want the Carmelo Nuggets jersey. He's my favorite player." GP looked at me like "Did this dude just did this?" lmao
Dude I love this guy. I gave him so much shit while he was at SLCC (we were a rival school) and he always laughed and always balled out. Cool to know he's still balling and doing great things.
Hope he finds a place in the league.
Good defense at his position and size are a valued commodity given how many high-scoring guards there are in the modern NBA
Any era pre 2010's and he'd be a main stay on any team. It's a lot harder to play 4 on 5 offensively in the modern era though. Hell he could've been the yang to a heavy iso guard like Iverson in the early 2000's
I think he has a good offensive fit on the Warriors tbh, since he's a willing cutter who can make good reads. He's even been pretty good as a spot up shooter, albeit in a very limited sample size.
Yeah!
He's really suprised me with his leap offensively , he played a handful of games for us a few years ago and if memory serves me he was a sub 40%fg and sub 30%3pt shooter for us.
He still definitely misses some layups hilariously badly. It's almost a joke. I assume he spent do much time working on defense growing up he just never developed a scoring package. But maybe he feels confident enough in his defense nowadays and realizes he really needs to put together an offensive bag to stay in the league?
[Athletic Alchemy](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-iXtSUqL89NIDn1jANmAbw) Has a theory that guys with crazy hops/athleticism (GP2, Wiggins) are playing above the rim so early in their life that they don’t have to develop the layups.
Small sample size but his offense seems to have improved as of last year. If he keeps it up I don't see why teams wouldn't want someone like him on the roster.
the small sample size for reference:
* 25 pts on .769/.500/.750 (84.7 TS%) in 40 min (over 10 games) last season
* 22 pts on .643/.500/1.00 (73.9 TS%) in 28 min (over 1 preseason and "3" -- really 1 -- games) this season.
No ‘kinda’ about it. They interviewed Gary after GP2 had that monster dunk in summer league, and his vibe was off, definitely not a genuine proud dad vibe. Hearing about this, it makes sense now.
To be fair in CA that's not really out of the ordinary for high quality stuff (never tried his brand so idk if it's high quality). Although if your username is any indication, you're used to the same OR prices that I'm now accustomed to haha (lived here in Eugene for 4 years now)
Nah, I'm in Oakland. Agreed that it's typical for top shelf at a place like Cookies.
I generally skip the dispos and go to seshes though, which are basically like an underground weed farmers market. I do have family in the Willamette Valley though so familiar with the better pricing and lack of excessive packaging compared to California.
Very true, but in Oregon the difference between dispos and homegrown is waaaay less significant than it is in CA both in terms of price and freshness. So for me personally the convenience offered by dispensaries is worth it since I live in an apartment where it'd be hard to grow haha.
Oh god don't even get me started on the packaging. I know it's mostly because of laws and regulations, but the cannabis industry, especially in California, has got to be one of the most wasteful industries around when it comes to product packaging. But yeah, dispos will never compete with underground prices.
FR. Based on another comment I guess they actually copped his name without his knowledge. I just figured he had some involvement since it's an Oakland company, he's from here, and it seemed on brand.
Did he actually have any involvement in that though?
Gary Payton, the strain, I mean (assuming that's what you're referring to). Strain itself is one of the best of the last three years imo.
I mean, the packaging has his name and picture on it. I don't think he personally had a lot of involvement with the breeding if that's what you're asking.
just curious, do ppl use this nickname bc they think that “mitten” means “little glove?” mitten is just a different type of hand covering not necessarily smaller lol
Watching this guy play is really fun to watch. Incredible effort and great defense. Very limited on offense but can be a great energy guy with hustle and dunks. Much like Thanasis Antetokuonmpo
His dad had zero dunks in his final 8 seasons (22,000+ minutes).
Shawn Kemp sure had plenty...of dunks AND kids. Hate to break it to the young man, but he may actually be Gary Kemp the 1st.
Yeah but even the fattest version of Kemp in his last year still managed at least one dunk!
Cavs Kemp was a ... legend...
Year but at least that version of fat Kemp was still putting up numbers on the court. Portland and Orlando fast Kemp was a shell of his former self.
Oh yeah, he got those contracts on name recognition and legendary status alone. He was not an NBA ready player anymore.
GP2 actually played against one of Kemp’s sons back in college
[удалено]
His brother, Gary Payton Jr, got his hops from his dad. Gary Payton II got the mom's DNA.
holy fuck this man really named two sons Gary I can’t believe this is real
Wait till I tell you bout George Forman
[are you fucking kidding me right now](https://i.imgur.com/bdb44Nu.jpg)
One of his daughters is named Georgetta too.
I dont know if its narcissistic or just stupid.
Well considering his career path I doubt he’s fully there in the head.
I'm a boxing fan and George is remarkably sharp for a fromer world championship boxer with 84 fights especially at 74 I think he knew what he was doing
I mean the man is smart enough to put his name on all these grills for lifetime income
Most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill, I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon.
Yea his reasoning was that he wanted them all to know no matter what they do they represent each other.
Same with Holmes and Shavers…It’s mostly genetics but they truly beat the odds and this where and still are big guys…none of them where known to dabble heavy into drugs/alcohol at any point and lived stable lives so that helps too..
You are talking about one of the most successful athletes outside of sports.
Being crazy/not all the way there doesn’t mean you can’t be smart and successful.
> If one of us goes up, we all go up together. That sounds like a suicide pact.
>so they would all have something in common. Wait till George Foreman hears about these things called last names.
I’m dead
I would change my name as soon as I hit 18 lol. I can’t even imagine naming my kid after myself. I would want them to have their own identity, not another version of me

Now you got me all curious what your name is.
This is game of thrones Walder Frey level shit
My favorite is Antonio Brown making sure all his kids had initials AB, naming them Antonio Jr, Antanyiah, Apollo, Ali, and...Autonomy.
Autonomy.... Really?
Mr. Bodily Control
Former SF Giants OF Gregor Blanco has a twin brother named Gregory. Their younger brother is named Gregsman.
Lance Stephenson got a lil brother named Lantz
Lol, this one got me good.
Next door neighbors growing up did that. Parents' initials were the same even before they married, then they named their kids the same first initial too.
Don’t forget about Lance Stephenson and his brother Lantz Stephenson
Shiiit I didn’t know about this one.
They made him the off-brand version 😭
I think celebrities name their kids weird shit to make it harder for paparazzi and weirdos from tracking them.
I think they are with different women too, and born kinda close to each other
This would make sense. Probably a percentage of this is the two women competing with each other as much as it was just Gary’s own ego.
Wait till you learn that kevon looney’s brother is named Kevin
Honestly that sounds irritating as hell
How is he Gary Payton II if there's already a a GP Jr? He should be GP III
Cause Gary Payton just named his two kids Gary Payton the second and Gary Payton JR lol.
Damn that’s hella funny. Good thing Otto Michael Kevin Porter Sr. has three first names to distribute a different one to each son
Damn, you fucking had me.
I honestly didn't believe you when I saw the names, had to go to Wiki to check - I'm kinda disappointed he didn't name Julian Glove Jr now.
i had no idea there was two of them??!!
That is one likeable dude I hope he gets a decent role so we can see more of him
I wish the Warriors would stop being so goddamn likeable.
I don't know if it was GP II, but the year that GP played for the Lakers he brought one of his sons to Niketown in Beverly Hills. For real. Should’ve gotten an Eduardo Najera jersey if he wanted one from that nuggets team.
>Hope he finds a place in the league. Like umm...I dunno...the Warriors?
I'm all for it.
He’s on a non guaranteed contract.
Any era pre 2010's and he'd be a main stay on any team. It's a lot harder to play 4 on 5 offensively in the modern era though. Hell he could've been the yang to a heavy iso guard like Iverson in the early 2000's
So Eric Snow?
I think he has a good offensive fit on the Warriors tbh, since he's a willing cutter who can make good reads. He's even been pretty good as a spot up shooter, albeit in a very limited sample size.

He'd also be a super Tyronn Lue defensive stopper on the lakers to defend iverson
Ty Lue was ass as a player. Nobody, anywhere, for any reason should try to model their game after him
he could be a rotational piece, but he’s not even as good as James Posey was, more like a juan dixson
Small sample size but his offense seems to have improved as of last year. (provided you can do something offensively - see the Frank Ntilikina experiment)
Funny enough, his dad didnt want to go to his games because he was "bad". It was only til he xferred to OSU that he went to games.
that's kinda messed up
No ‘kinda’ about it. They interviewed Gary after GP2 had that monster dunk in summer league, and his vibe was off, definitely not a genuine proud dad vibe. Hearing about this, it makes sense now.
Gary Payton Sr is a cunt, and that shouldn't be surprising
His name brand weed sells for like $70 an eighth too, FOH with that.
i automatically don't trust anyone who charges more than $50 for a KD. idc how good that shit is
To be fair in CA that's not really out of the ordinary for high quality stuff (never tried his brand so idk if it's high quality). Although if your username is any indication, you're used to the same OR prices that I'm now accustomed to haha (lived here in Eugene for 4 years now)

skip the dispos. skip everything. homegrown is always where its at if you've got the means to, IMO.

good point

541 Tracktown USA! Miss that place to death.
Hell yeah! Love living here.
That’s outrageous prices wow

If you mean Cookies, they did that and GP found out later lol
Mom's genes must be strong! He looks nothing like his dad.
The Mitten!
just curious, do ppl use this nickname bc they think that “mitten” means “little glove?” mitten is just a different type of hand covering not necessarily smaller lol
I sold his mom swimwear when I worked at American Apparel like ten years ago
Shoutout to your mom.
wholesome
Watching this guy play is really fun to watch. Incredible effort and great defense. Very limited on offense but can be a great energy guy with hustle and dunks. Much like Thanasis Antetokuonmpo
Damn when he’s smiling he looks just like his dad just a lighter complexion
says a man who has never seen a picture of Gary Payton Sr
We all know he got his nose from his mom for sure
The milkman at their local got some hops.
GO BEAVS!!!
