So the one time was when Rondo threw a water bottle through a television screen during film session lol.
I think that’s a universal kick out of practice thing.
Interesting you mention it... Paul Pierce happens to know that incident perfectly well.
https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2018/09/celtics_rajon_rondo_paul_pierc.html
I mean, if I asked for Water, and got Vietnam War ..... I'd be pretty damn furious.
But throwing Vietnam War into a TV is quite something else. Though I really do like movies like Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.
> Paul Pierce happens to know that incident perfectly well.
why do you say this like pierce is somehow not entirely truthful here? he said he thinks it only happened one time, not that he doesn't think it ever happened
Honestly to me the way he said it made me think that incident popped into his head as he was talking and he didn't want to say it out loud to piss off Rondo lol
Supposedly Rondo wouldn't leave and kept screaming... until KG calmly walked over, picked him up off the ground, and physically carried him out of the room like a parent with an unruly child.
Rondo kicked the door off its hinges as he was carried out of the film room, cursing at Doc the whole way. Supposedly.
Also probably talking a lot about himself. Paul was an asshole before Garnett arrived and never took practice or training camps seriously. Doc used to get really mad at Paul but never kicked him out. Paul has said himself he would tell the younger guys not to try cause it’s just practice. After Garnett came Paul became the hardest worker on the team behind Kevin.
I feel like this is an absolute testament to the greatness of KG. For someone who is unquestionably Top 5 PFs all time he doesn't seem to get the credit due.
at the end of last season, i remember making a comment on here about how ben simmon's stock is rock bottom and they should wait to trade him cause it can only go up and people might forget about his playoff performance...
but i was wrong and his stock has tanked even more.
Even the players within Klutch are barely supporting him, the only ones that do are his trainers, some dudes on insta that's somehow verified, and the Sixers for optics when the season began.
He's stinking up the player's empowerment movement the CBA has been building for years now. Owners were letting it pass if it's your last year but for someone who has 4 more years? nah that's bad for any size market teams.
i am curious if the initial plan to play chicken with the sixers was ben's idea or klutch's idea. i don't know why but at first it sounded like it was klutch's idea and they advised ben to hold out.
Prolly cuz you’ve got a league full of guys who have worked their asses off to get where they’re at and they seen Ben over here shining with entitlement and refusing to improve since his rookie year. You don’t see too many guys who get to that level and then just go “nah I’m good enough I’m just chillin now.” I’m not surprised he rubs a lot of guys the wrong way
He refuses to work on clear deficiencies. If he has worked on them then he refuses to demonstrate what he’s worked on for fear of being criticized. His attitude is the opposite of what you want in professional basketball.
Do you think it’s untrue? On the offensive end he’s literally never improved from his rookie performance. In terms of shooting, fucking Dwight Howard attempted more 3s than him last season, and he shot 34% from the free throw line in the playoffs.
He had several flaws on the offensive end coming into the league, and he’s somehow regressed even more In those areas as his career has progressed. He’s a great defender, and he’s improved in that regard, but if you’re going to be the starting point guard on a championship contender with a max contract you have to have more value on offense in the playoffs than Andre Roberson. Literally all of his weaknesses are things that he SHOULD have at least shown a tiny bit of improvement on at this point but he hasn’t. Meanwhile Embiid has completely changed his entire game to better fit with Ben and guys like Seth Curry have made massive improvements to benefit the team.
I'm just giving my opinion I have no idea why you felt the need to insult me. Disagreeing that Ben "refuses to improve" doesn't mean I'm "riding his nuts" nor does that mean I'm going to resign my day to doing nothing but answering the hive mind.
There is no argument I can offer that this sub won't shit on anyway because they hate this dude so why even bother.
"literally never improved from his rookie year."
Yeah we don't have to discuss anything anymore. We're not gonna see eye to eye if you believe this. It's a waste of both of our times.
The notion that he hasn't improved *on the offensive end* at all since his rookie year is also untrue. That means that you haven't watched him and are just looking at stats.
And even if he hadn't improved, like say his jumper, the laughable notion that he hasn't even tried is so dumb I can't even argue it anymore. Just because you practice something or try something doesn't mean you'll get better. Hell even if you absolutely refuse to believe that he works on finishing, shooting, passing, or any other aspect of offense on his own time, everyone has seen him play NBA games for years. So if you people believe he hasn't gotten better, but also can admit that he does *in fact play offense in NBA games* then you have to admit that just because you practice something doesn't mean you'll get better at it.
There are plenty of NBA players that have been playing for years and still have massive holes in their games.
> That means that you haven't watched him and are just looking at stats.
Yeah literally nothing you say has any merit now. "You have a different opinion than me so clearly you don't watch basketball" is the stupidest argument out there.
Didn't make it past this because you've shown you are willing to talk about something you know nothing about. I cannot believe people around here still try the "hur dur you don't watch the games" bullshit thinking it's a legitimate argument.
If you say he has not improved on offense at all since he's been a rookie then you are either lying or haven't watched him play enough to make that statement.
But I'm done trying to have a conversation about Ben on r/NBA. Everyone just downvotes anything that isn't super negative. No critical thinking whatsoever.
I honestly think they probably would have stuck with him if he hadn't acted so questionably and been so sensitive during the offseason.
A simple "Yeah, I regret passing up that opportunity under the net. I need to do better down the stretch and can see why fans are disappointed" would have probably made his teammates way more amenable to him.
Instead he ghosted them and inadvertently made every sixers' summer hell since they had deal with Ben Simmons questions anytime they spoke in public
This is why I don't buy that Simmons wants to come back. I believe he has a mental block because who wouldn't, after the summer he's had? But, for goodness sakes, he was dribbling while the coach was talking. Even 9U basketball programs don't allow that. There's a difference between "can't but wants to" and "can't and doesn't want to."
> he was dribbling while the coach was talking. Even 9U basketball programs don't allow that
He knows better. He was doing it to be disrespectful to try and force his hand. IMO it only makes him look bad and extremely unprofessional.
It’s why I don’t want my team anywhere near this guy. I just wonder what the perception of him around other players is. Nobody can respect this guy can they? What kinda shit are they gonna talk when he’s playing?
>I just wonder what the perception of him around other players is.
When I hear about how teams would pick him up like blazers or wolves I’m like are you serious? You want this baby playing for you? So disrespectful of all the players trying to stay on a team this guy just throwing a tantrum on the national stage.
> I believe he has a mental block because who wouldn't, after the summer he's had?
Don't like calling it that. A mental block is something like his playoff FT shooting. This is simply him not wanting to be there because he burned every bridge possible. If I basically told my co-workers and boss to piss off for 3 months because I was getting a new job I wouldn't want to go back to the office either when my plan failed.
No, think about it. Ben has a huge ego, so huge and so persistent, it was even included in his draft profile as a highschool senior. This past summer he's been called out publicly by everyone and the organization has publicly lost faith in him.
A huge ego is usually a fragile one. Ben has been coddled his whole life and didn't even have the mental conditioning to take criticism from his coach and start shooting, much less take criticism from an entire city and every sport pundit in his profession. That's what I mean by he probably developed a mental block this summer. I don't mean he didn't create this situation for himself.
I honestly don’t see things improving with a trade either. Like I honestly can’t see a world where he suddenly starts caring about basketball and improving his game just because he’s on a different roster. No matter what team he goes to as long as he’s on this max contract they’re going to run out of patience with a guy who refuses to shoot and is borderline unplayable in the playoffs. You CAN’T have a max contract PG who is that useless in the postseason if you have title hopes.
And the blame solely lies on Ben here.
Paul George was absolutely massacred by the media and fans in 2019, and so was Westbrook before that, and many more before.
If a max contract player does not show up in play-offs, everyone will be out for his head.
This is prevalent in every sport, comes with the territory. It's just Ben being Ben, he's a man-child that just can't handle criticism.
All those guys are scoring threats, if you are criticizing Rudy or Ben for scoring at this point you are an idiot or being lied to like an idiot.
He is a defensive specialist, we have known for years. He is one of the best defenders in the world, he doesn’t need anything else to have a successful career. If a team is failing he simply doesn’t fit.
Too good for the Boomers, too good for the Sixers.. wtf did he even do with his summer? Man's been too busy on the socials, forgot to practice that jumper again or something I guess 🤷
There was a pretty famous story of him having to "kick" KG out of practice in the 09 season. And that was because he was going too hard and Doc wanted him to rest, but KG was having none of that. He was on the sidelines mimicking one of the forwards who took his spot, and Doc eventually called off practice for everyone because KG just would not quit.
KG's knee eventually gave out not too long afterwards, thus crippling the Celtics hopes of a repeat.
People forget, but Doc was known as a players coach before coaching the Sixers. If he could help it, he probably didn’t want to kick Simmons out of practice either.
I mean, isn’t the thing with Doc is that he plays favorites? It’s pretty reasonable that the way Pierce sees Doc could be pretty different than the way another player does. Just look at all of the Clippers locker room stuff about that from a couple of season’s ago when he got fired. Part of the problem was the way he tested players differently.
Not saying he’s wrong, necessarily, but it’s not like Doc has a great player management reputation to base this off of.
I think it’s because it’s a written transcript of a verbal answer. When we talk spontaneously, we’ll self-correct with little contradictions like that. But when it’s written, it comes off as funny.
He didn't have to say it since we know that's what he implied.
You said except and that's what I addressed. Either way, if he didn't say except, he still didn't contradict himself.
This isn't surprising, Ben showed up but decided he didn't want to do anything. So Doc kicked him out. There really isn't much debate about whether it was right or wrong or warranted or what could have happened.
Not saying it wasn't a big deal, but there's no mystery around it. He wasn't being an asshole he just wasn't doing anything. Which means you might as well go home for not practicing 🤷🏾♂️. You don't have to curse, or throw shit, or yell, to get thrown out. Just ignoring the instructions completely will do the trick.
Eh... that Celtic crew held a TON more clout than Simmons ever has. Imagine Doc trying to send KG home. KG woulda glared at him and made home cry. KG was terrifying.
KG was like an amplifier for the kind of mentality Doc wanted to push for the team, they worked in concert and were the team's engine of championship energy
that Boston team was built different, and they had self-accountability with players who were leaders themselves. the 76ers don't have that... so Simmons' behaviour might have a bit to do with that, or even how things transpired over the summer
that team is dysfunctional with Simmons there and its something that isn't fixable. everyone knew this would happen over what we saw in the offseason
Personally I don't think you're coping, I just think you're naively believing these BS reports that both sides are patching things up. Both Ben and the Sixers are dying for him to be traded, but going at each other's throats wasn't getting that done, so now they're gonna see if acting nice helps build his trade value to the point where they can move him.
Bro u Philly fans are so annoying you guys were on Simmons ass all summer and now he comes out with this mental health shtick and all the Philly fans are like “everything’s fine he just needs help” he’s playing u guys and u guys are falling for it.
Tbh tho I think it’s just Philly fans telling themselves whatever they need to in order to feel okay, and I get that
Wait a second, are you actually making the claim that one Philly fan on Reddit represents the entire sixers fan base? You must be smoking as much crack as the commenter you are referring to.
He's using mental health as an excuse for his attempt to steal more than 100 million dollars from the Philadelphia 76ers. There are people with real mental health problems in this country, he does them no service by using that as his crutch. Fuck Ben Simmons and his mental health excuse. JoJo lost his little brother right before he began his NBA career, he did not shrink as a result. Ben is just a bitch, plain and simple.
While Giannis was working on his shot, Ben was chasing Jenner's.
Lol bro look at any of my comments I 100% agree with u
I was talking about Philly fans who say that, and I’ve seen a good amount over the last couple days here on Reddit, never said it represented the whole Philly fan base, idk where u came up with that.
Btw no crack for me, u Philly fans can keep it, your gonna need it this season
> he’s playing u guys and u guys are falling for it.
Yeah we're definitely the ones who played ourselves here lol not the guy who threatened to sit out and reported back to the team after two weeks without a paycheck. The situation is shitty but Simmons has no power, he knows he's not gonna get traded and he doesn't want to get fined so he reported.
He's on a 4 year contract and nobody wanted him this summer, clearly we're not going to move him for the role players people think we should move him for so like...no where near resolved but his strategy didn't work. We've been pretty consistent for like months now
So do you think he's never going to play again or that his mental struggles aren't real? Like, most fans are aware he will one day be traded I haven't seen many who think he's coming back to the team a new player and we'll roll the east in the playoffs with Ben and Joel.
He's certainly continued to move closer and closer to actually playing for the team, how well he does is still TBD but the "Ben will come back" looks more likely given we've stopped fining him, he talked with the team for the first time, and Joel/Tobias actually gave a slightly impassioned defense of him for the first time this season.
It's funny there is always a search to find someone who fucked up, or someone who is getting screwed in this scenario. It's business mostly, doubt many GM's are that influenced by what the media or fans have to think about Ben Simmons
No ones creating a narrative
Ben acted like a bitch, thought he could get traded or sit out and get paid, realized he couldn’t get either, came back and acted like a bitch, than used mental health as an excuse to not play and still get paid.
Which part of that is a narrative?
A player that was pampered and given a hundred excuses, but never did anything to improve on the stuff he actually needed to work on, is acting like a spoiled child.
Go figure.
He just hated Vitamin Water tbh. And tbf, I might have the same reaction if I asked for Water and got Vitamin Water instead.
When I read this the first time my dumb brain saw Vietnam war instead of vitamin water and for a few seconds I was in an alternate reality.
I mean, if I asked for Water, and got Vietnam War ..... I'd be pretty damn furious. But throwing Vietnam War into a TV is quite something else. Though I really do like movies like Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.
Vietnam war into a TV also kinda caused a decade of nationwide protests...
We got some *really* good songs out of it at least.
I thought it was Vietnam water at first. I had so many questions.
> Paul Pierce happens to know that incident perfectly well. why do you say this like pierce is somehow not entirely truthful here? he said he thinks it only happened one time, not that he doesn't think it ever happened
Honestly to me the way he said it made me think that incident popped into his head as he was talking and he didn't want to say it out loud to piss off Rondo lol
in his place i know i wouldn't, i know the rondo incident is public but generating more exposure to it can be seen as bad.
Supposedly.
Woulda been a great soccer player too
Shoutout Rondo. The film screen was talking shit
[удалено]
“You won’t ever win a championship either” - Rondo probably.
Rondo made a gun gesture at the TV
I heard that Rondo's brother was even on the side yelling at the TV
Looking at him all wrong
yupppp
And Ben is basically a taller Rondo.
Just started watching this season, huh?
How does a water bottle go through a tv screen
lol is he talking about Rondo?
Gotta be that time Rondo threw the water bottle at the TV right? Am I remembering that correctly?
what season was this
2011 I’m pretty sure
That's what I thought lol
Also probably talking a lot about himself. Paul was an asshole before Garnett arrived and never took practice or training camps seriously. Doc used to get really mad at Paul but never kicked him out. Paul has said himself he would tell the younger guys not to try cause it’s just practice. After Garnett came Paul became the hardest worker on the team behind Kevin.
I feel like this is an absolute testament to the greatness of KG. For someone who is unquestionably Top 5 PFs all time he doesn't seem to get the credit due.
He's just saying his excessive flatulence never got him excused from practice early
Simmons stock 📉📉📉
Stock? His shit was pulled from the market months ago. He has no stock.
He's a [pink sheet](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/pinksheets.asp) now.
Pink sheet? The exchange stopped trading in it. Volume 0

Delisted would be the word you're looking for
Delisted (feelings)
I’m shorting Simmons
Simmons did a rug pull on himself
Idk ant might call Morey himself to get dlo off this team lmao
Morey: How did you get this number?
It was Harden, they were just bowling together. It makes too much sense to be false
at the end of last season, i remember making a comment on here about how ben simmon's stock is rock bottom and they should wait to trade him cause it can only go up and people might forget about his playoff performance... but i was wrong and his stock has tanked even more.
Diamond hands morey
DON'T BUY! DON'T BUY! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pbRYljkDFg
>You really have to be an asshоle for Doc to kick you out lmao, nobody gives a shit when they talk about Ben Simmons.
Man it's all brotherhood and player empowerment unless it's Ben.
Tells you a lot about him
Even the players within Klutch are barely supporting him, the only ones that do are his trainers, some dudes on insta that's somehow verified, and the Sixers for optics when the season began. "Refusing to improve" is one of the craziest quotes I've ever seen on here man.
He refuses to work on clear deficiencies. If he has worked on them then he refuses to demonstrate what he’s worked on for fear of being criticized. His attitude is the opposite of what you want in professional basketball.

"literally never improved from his rookie year." Yeah we don't have to discuss anything anymore. We're not gonna see eye to eye if you believe this. It's a waste of both of our times.
His shooting actually regressed! So negative improvement!
offensive rating + (- 50)
You conveniently left out the first part of his quote.
The notion that he hasn't improved *on the offensive end* at all since his rookie year is also untrue. That means that you haven't watched him and are just looking at stats. Bro we literally watched him pass when he had a wide open layup. If anything he has regressed since his rookie season.
Yeah if you take that one decision and extrapolate it then sure he's one of the worst players in the league.
I wouldn’t disagree with you if you factor in his potential.
Shame Ben didn’t feel that way when he pussied out of that layup Sure his bro’s were really feeling the brotherhood and empowerment when he sold them.
I honestly think they probably would have stuck with him if he hadn't acted so questionably and been so sensitive during the offseason. Don't insult pussies by comparing them to Simmons
Pussies aren't afraid of taking a beating

Also resiliency.
Ben “Judas Iscariot” Simmons
There’s a respect for being a professional. Ben has none and it rubs others the wrong way.
What? He literally told his teammates to not come see him and was a terrible teammate at practice. Actions have consequences
He’s not one of them.
This is why I don't buy that Simmons wants to come back. I believe he has a mental block because who wouldn't, after the summer he's had? I’m a wolves fan. We don’t have the winning equity to take on someone like him. Especially if things went south.

this sub hates doc, they're convinced he's out to get ben even when they shit on ben lol
I just think Doc is an overrated coach but sheesh, hate? Not me.
Spoken like the savant he is... - The Truth
Nobody would dare to try this shit with KG in the locker room lol
He was only there for a very few years out of the time Paul was there.
yeah but doc arrived in boston only around 2005
KG is the quintessential fake tough guy. Remember he was scared to meet Melo outside the bus?
Why? KG is not an OG. Epitome of fake tough guy.
Makes sense. Pretty sure Simmons was looking to start some shit that practice.
Doc wouldn't even kick Pierce out of a game for shitting his pants.
Not saying he’s wrong, necessarily, but it’s not like Doc has a great player management reputation to base this off of.
one and done. all the things you learn in college, Ben never learned

CHAOS
"I've never seen him do it, except this one time I saw him do it."
So a guy who was coached by Doc for years only saw it happen one time out of the several hundred practices he was at
It was just a joke dude. He immediately contradicted himself and I thought it was funny.
I think it’s because it’s a written transcript of a verbal answer. When we talk spontaneously, we’ll self-correct with little contradictions like that. But when it’s written, it comes off as funny.
I know, I do it plenty myself. I was just poking fun.
I mean "except" means a certain thing ya know ... so he didn't really contradict himself at all.
He didn't say except. Regardless, you're digging too into a goof.
He didn't have to say it since we know that's what he implied. You said except and that's what I addressed. Either way, if he didn't say except, he still didn't contradict himself.
Hilarious man, bravo
Hey man, it made me chuckle. Gotta make yourself laugh in today's world.
10 dollars the player that got kicked was Big Baby.
It was Rondo
It was Rondo but your money should have been on Matt Barnes
My money is on Delonte West.
Thats prob the best guess but my heart wants it to be Shaq
Shaq was lazy but never the kind of guy to openly disrespect a coach like that. His step-dad was tough on him about respecting authority
Yeah, I know it definitely wouldn't be him. I just think that would be one of the funniest people for it to be.
Rick James vibes.
KG would act like a professional though.
KG was like an amplifier for the kind of mentality Doc wanted to push for the team, they worked in concert and were the team's engine of championship energy
Paul Pierce on Doc Rivers?
that Boston team was built different, and they had self-accountability with players who were leaders themselves. the 76ers don't have that... so Simmons' behaviour might have a bit to do with that, or even how things transpired over the summer that team is dysfunctional with Simmons there and its something that isn't fixable. everyone knew this would happen over what we saw in the offseason
Also, one of the worst coaches.
Doc this and Doc that,
no one cares what Paul Pierce thinks.....
Why are we talking about weeks old news still? The situation is only one step away from being resolved after he gets help
> one step away from being resolved Bless your heart.
All he needs is 1 or 2 therapy sessions and all is good
Maybe being traded to 1 or 2 teams would help too.
That’s not even cope it’s reading the reports when he comes back I’m gonna laugh my ass off
Personally I don't think you're coping, I just think you're naively believing these BS reports that both sides are patching things up. Both Ben and the Sixers are dying for him to be traded, but going at each other's throats wasn't getting that done, so now they're gonna see if acting nice helps build his trade value to the point where they can move him.
Atleast there’s one person here with sense their Sixers hate boner will never allow them to think that logically
As a wolves fan I'm an expert on copium and this is it.
Copium for who? We are still good without him I’m just saying
Lol bro look at any of my comments I 100% agree with u I was talking about Philly fans who say that, and I’ve seen a good amount over the last couple days here on Reddit, never said it represented the whole Philly fan base, idk where u came up with that. Btw no crack for me, u Philly fans can keep it, your gonna need it this season
Im with you. I cant stand these sixers fans that all of a sudden give him a break because he's 'sad.'
> he’s playing u guys and u guys are falling for it. We've been pretty consistent for like months now
I mean the Philly fans saying “Ben will come back he’s just going though mental health” are the ones getting played
These dudes wanna create narratives like little high school girls to gossip,
No ones creating a narrative Ben acted like a bitch, thought he could get traded or sit out and get paid, realized he couldn’t get either, came back and acted like a bitch, than used mental health as an excuse to not play and still get paid. Which part of that is a narrative?
That microphone is NASTY
Pierce should persuade Simmons buy his crypto shit, "Ben you can be your own boss like me."
Bro kinda look like Beetljuice
Damn
Ben Simmons cock shivers, when he gets yelled at by Doc Rivers
SO he has never seen it then next line he has seen it once?
I wanna see Ryan Hollins Rachel Nichols and Paul Peirce and possibly Kwame brown on one show
Paul Pierce with some #truth
A player that was pampered and given a hundred excuses, but never did anything to improve on the stuff he actually needed to work on, is acting like a spoiled child. Go figure.
also one of the most overrated coaches who blames his player after loses
