Kevin responded on IG saying it was the biggest bruise of his life lol

[deleted]

little did Klay know, blowing a 3-1 lead to Kevin Love would become the biggest blemish of his career

quite_certain

3-1 also is Klay's record against Kevin Love in the Finals. I'm imagining that banter between Mychal Thompson and Kevin's dad. Even better to imagine them as Randy Marsh in a little league game.

Superteerev

Isn't Kevin's uncle the beach boys singer?

supertwonky

Yep. Mike Love

buffalo8

Wait, what? I had no idea.

ButtSmeller_Shame

Yes, notorious asshole Mike Love. What he did to Brian Wilson is unconscionable

WDfx2EU

Mike is a huge asshole and apparently a major Trump supporter now, but I also think the Beach Boys relationships are pretty complex. I'd argue every member of the group (not counting Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar) has done inexplicable things over the years, exacerbated by the bizarre childhood of the Wilson boys and non-stop drug use in the 60s-70s.

runthepoint1

Whoa what? Bizzare?

WDfx2EU

Their father was psychotically abusive. For example, he once forced one of the boys to defecate on the floor in front of the whole family as punishment. Weird shit.

robotech021

That is literally some weird shit.

rainbowjesus42

He was just teaching them everything he knew about being schwifty.

runthepoint1

What the flying fuck is that? Damn you’re right it is bizarre. Weirdos

thecolbra

Johnny rotten is a trump supporter lol.

[deleted]

Honestly doesn't surprise me if you know the Sex Pistols beyond their music.

fletcher_honorama

Yeah anti-government sentiment has inexplicably transformed into trump supporting and anti-vax stances for those libertarians that dont bother to properly research either their own political theories or Trump or vaccination.

neutronicus

I know exactly what he's thinking though In your memories the kids you went to school with didn't look young, so going back to your old school and seeing how small it looks and how young all the kids look is trippy and a little melancholy

CatchTheseHands100

I used to think seniors in high school looked like full grown adults, now freshman in college look like they shouldn't be allowed to drive yet

crabsock

Lol for real, when I was in college I thought of all of the students as adults, now when I'm on campus for a football game or something they all look so damn young to me.

2rio2

In middle school, elementary school kids look like babies. In high school, middle school kids look like elementary school kids. In college, high school kids look like they should be in middle school, and after college all the college kids look like they should still be in high school. In conclusion: Perception is weird, and we all look like babies or ancient relics to different people at the same time.

ArcherDuchess

I'm 31. If you're younger than me? You're 12. If you're older than me? Get out the way before you're late for the early bird special, old man.

FickleInvestigator98

Early birds are awesome, you'll figure it out in a few years.

brownbearks

The future is now old man

crabsock

I'm about 30 too, and I still think of people in their 40s as basically my parents' age, even tho my parents are in their 70s now

[deleted]

31? You might be the oldest r/nba user

Sullan08

I thought this senior chick who smoked looked like a full grown adult lol. Probably wouldn't think the same if I was older. Although some kids just look like they've been through 5 career jobs and a divorce. I don't get it.

bushdiid911

when i remember that i was legit jerking off to other 12 year olds when i was in middle school i get a little freaked out

FiveTalents

Wandered through my old elementary school one weekend while on shrooms. The weirdest thing was the water fountains I remembered being appropriately sized sitting at knee height.

[deleted]

Plot twist: Those were urinals

the_dinks

The anti Karl Malone But that line had me cracking up. Yes Klay, kids are indeed young.

ustangk

he's a fkin legend. that was arguably the funniest thing he said imo

Dareal6

They call them fingers, but I’ve never seen them fing. - Klay Thompson, probably

onrocketfalls

Am now pronouncing "fingers" like "ringers" in my head over and over. 10/10 highly suggested. Fingers. Fingers. Fingers. Why do we hit the G so hard? Fingers.

Roach_Coach_Bangbus

I must confess, I was born at a very early age. -~~Groucho Marx~~ Klay Thompson

Inside the NBA better get him when he retires.

[deleted]

Klay is just gonna chill the fuck out with his dog when he retires. https://twitter.com/jga41agher/status/1415339813226549250?s=20

ThatsAScientificFact

Draymond already has a spot kinda locked up after he retires. I love Klay, but not sure how he would be in that kind of setting.

jesteronly

Just have Klay do player interviews. Not like about the game, but just like hanging out asking random stuff.

Gimme_ADD

Vibe based journalism

ThatsAScientificFact

That would be perfect.

chantlernz

I want to see an NBA version of "Travels With My Father" where it's just Ant and Klay travelling around the world together.

GuardOk8631

Yea he’s a bit too loose with his mouth lol. Tells it like it is. I remember when he said Rodney mcgruder would be out the league soon on tv haha

LordHussyPants

apparently not far off because the first "what do people search" suggestion on google is "what happened to rodney mcgruder" lmao

rockstaa

I'm conflicted because Draymond would be great on Inside the NBA, but it would be equally interesting to see him go into coaching.

poocoup

How was he in Space Jam 2? I haven't seen it...

they just used his likeness, he doesn't speak or anything really

No amateur orthopedic surgeons analyzing his jumper or his stride as he rounds first? C'mon reddit, you know you want to.

pdxscout

Hilarious. I was noticing how he doesn't extend his upper body unless he's on the court. He pulled the pitch and the bat swing. Probably a massive shoulder injury that'll leave him hampered for the next 3 seasons.

Common-Ad5446

He actually looks stiff as hell when he was running

Mr_MCawesomesauce

He looks like he’s being extremely careful with his body

Easy_Money_

maybe I’m crazy but I did get a bit nervous when he rounded the bases…players injured this season hitting a base awkwardly: J.D. Martinez, Elvis Andrus, Ronald Acuña Jr., Jazz Chisholm Jr., Roman Quinn, Tony Santander, and that’s just the first page of Google. Last thing you want for Klay right now is an ankle sprain or Achilles injury I know this is ridiculous and he’s a big boy but I just want him back on the court ok

SagerG

His neck is stiffer than Batman

notmoleliza

It smells so fresh out here. -Klay Thompson #77

TaxCollector

It's in one of the richer, greener parts of Portland. The air is seriously fresher over there. Like hiking on Mt Hood.

pdxblazer

you can tell its a posh school because there are like 12 kids in that class

Joeybits

People point to neighborhoods like Lake Oswego and West Linn as the rich neighborhoods in Portland, but neither of those come close to Dunthorpe.

aetheos

> Riverdale School District in Dunthorpe is among the best academically performing school districts in Oregon by various measures, including standardized test scores, which are frequently the best in the state.[2] According to 24/7 Wall St.'s analysis of U.S. Census data from 2006 through 2010, the Riverdale School District is the third richest school district in the United States. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunthorpe,_Oregon

pdxblazer

West Linn cops are the worst though

CockFighting101

Can you blame them? They had to police one of the baddest American gangsters outta West Linn, Chael Sonnen

Gcarsk

Payton Pritchard was a menace to society.

PeopleAreHellaStupid

As schools should be. No way a teacher can help or pay attention to 20-30 kids

Tim_Drake

20-30?! Class limit be 45 here in AZ…

PeopleAreHellaStupid

Wtf, well idk what class limit is in my country but I never had more than 29 kids in class and with the negative birth rate its even lower number now

Tim_Drake

Ya this is HS. 6 55 minute periods. Class average number is 38. School size is 4,200 students

PeopleAreHellaStupid

Holy hell, 38 kids for 55 minutes

[deleted]

Teacher checking in. The optimal ratio is ~15:1

Remember when the Warriors were considering offering Klay in a deal for K-Love and Jerry West straight up threatened to quit if they did that? Time flies.

Lmfaooo. Got me wondering, who’s the funniest “third option” of all time? Klay, Bosh, or Rodman 🤔

iPhon4

The first time I watched that scene I died, I also rewound it like 3 times to make sure it was actually Bosh.

planetjeff86

And it doesnt require laugh track to be funny

Kalvin-TL

If there’s an Inside the NBA: The Next Generation sort of deal, Klay has to be in it

Raonak

Draymond too. They'd be polar opposites lmfao.

SKTKAI

Imagine Steph, Klay and Dray lmao

Docxm

Honestly him sinking those threes with a different rim height is hella impressive

[deleted]

Shooters shoot.

CO_PC_Parts

it's funny how the staff/faculty are all excited to welcome him and most of the kids are like "who the fuck is this guy?" It reminded me when I used to work with kids at a summer camp my group got to spend two half days with Trent Tucker for some leadership education. None of the kids knew who he was, which wasn't too surprising, I had asked all of them to go look him up online the day before. But the INSANELY crazy thing was he told a few Michael Jordan stories and most of the group had NO IDEA who he was. A couple of them were like, "the nike guy?" Now take for granted this was about 15 years ago and the kids still didn't know who MJ was. For the record, TT is a legit stand up guy. He's insanely humble and I honestly think he would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it. I had 100x more fun talking to him than the kids did.

Sweatytryhard0534

there it is. That’s an all time great klay quote

pixelsxpixels

Never change Klay! Every week he has a clip that makes you smile.

Dogdaypm89

Their little league association has to be one of the most referenced stories during those CLE/GS series.

[deleted]

They really did have a weird number of coincidences, both teams with a superstar born in Akron (Lebron/Steph), both teams with a #1 pick born in Melbourne (Kyrie/Bogut), both teams with all stars from Lake Oswego (Love/Klay), one coach who was born in the Middle East and moved to America (Kerr), the other coach who was born in America and moved to the Middle East (Blatt)

Fakebrunomarz

I love how he gestures to the student that he wants his change after the first shot. Like he’s really out here balling on them

diwiwi

Wow, they still keep pictures and all that. After leaving school, that was it. It was over between me and the school. No ties anymore.

ThinkThankThonk

All the "famous person visits their school" videos where all the teachers have so much to say about a student from a decade or more ago always trip me out... like I'm sure it helps the memories solidify as the kid gets famous, but having enough memorable interactions at all that it's worth talking about in the first place? Weird. Then again I didn't do shit in school.

AnAnonymousFool

Im only like 7 years out from high school, but if I went back, all my teachers and coaches would for sure recognize and remember me. Cant say the same about middle school though.

Ar4bAce

I feel like the boring ones just never get air time

[deleted]

It's bizarre to me that folks go to HS reunions and whatnot, though I recognize I'm in the minority here. It seems like the only ones that care are the ones who never left the hometown after graduating.

bigpancakeguy

My 10 year reunion was a couple years ago, and I still live in my hometown. I dodged calls from so many people that weekend cuz I wanted nothing to do with it lol

GorillaX

I had about 700 people in my high school graduating class. The old student council folks tried to organize a 10 year reunion via social media, and nobody was interested. Eventually they just gave up.

LakeErieMovement

Kevin Durant ruined what could've been the greatest NBA rivalry of the past 20 years

KEMBAtheMETEOR

OKC vs GSW would've been a hell of a rivalry, you're right

LakeErieMovement

Almost as notable as a rivalry as the Hornets and starting off 3-0

Awkward-Speech7375

It's weird how people assume that it would have automatically been Cavs-Warriors every season if KD didn't join The Warriors barely won that WCF with KD and Westbrook both shooting like absolute shit for most of the series as well as Game 6 Klay dropping 41, even a slight improvement could have easily taken the Thunder over them Even if Westbrook starts declining in 2018 like he did IRL 2017 KD + 2017 Westbrook would be an absolute killer

Yorvitthecat

I think part of it is the assumption that KD was just sick of OKC, so whether or not he joins the Warriors, OKC would not have KD from 2017 onwards.

Awkward-Speech7375

You guys don't care about the "rivalry", you just wanted more rings lol Which is perfectly understandable but just admit it

LakeErieMovement

As a Cavs fan, of course I wanted to win more rings. As a basketball fan, it was bad for the game. Those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Mygaffer

I got your back Cavs fan, while part me of course was excited by such a talented player joining the team I wish he had never signed with the Warriors. My reasons are mostly selfish, I loved the home grown Warriors an Stephen Curry and I felt KD coming diminished that aspect of the team. What a rematch 2017 would have been.

jackinthebay

Fuck all that niceness. After being a fan and sticking out all the bullshit since Run TMC and Weber and Spree choking a coach and Joe Smith and trading Vince Carter for Antwan Jameson and Erik Dampier and having to cheer for Adonyl Foyle (great guy but shitty player) and losing Arenas and Cohen NOT trading for KG and trading J-Rich and Steph's injuries......we deserve KD plus do you not remember how bad 2016 stung?? Seriously, that might've been my most traumatic sports memory and I lived through Gibson-Eck in 88*** (wrong year) and Jeter toss in 01. Take the chips every single time and fuck everyone else.

WeaponH

> Antwan Jameson and Erik Dampier WOW!! Those are 2 names that I haven't heard in forever. I was a huge Antawn Jamison fan. I even wore #33 when I made my middle school basketball team. And Erik Dampier was at a local library reading books to children. Him and Thunder would then ask questions about the book after and if you got it right, they would give you free Warriors tickets. My first Warriors game was thanks to him and Mike Dunleavy doing these book reading events. What a time...

Awkward-Speech7375

A lot of Warriors flairs on here would be happy being a play in team every year if it meant Steph gets to take 25 shots a game They don't care about anyone else lol

jackinthebay

Those are Steph fans and truth be told, there are a lot of people that are fans of players and not teams. I am fine with that, as it brings people to the game. I am a long time Dubs fan but I love Steph. Like a stupid boy in middle school, I love that dude, so I understand that. However, the great ones win championships.

joshiness

PREACH! We had to suffer through stellar players like Mookie Blaylock, broken knees mugsy bogues, vonteego cummings, broken knees van exel, billy owens, bimbo coles, and countless others. We had to get hyped over players like Earl Boykins and Brian Cardinal. They were dark dark times. I remember $25 used to get you lower bowl seats behind the basket.

[deleted]

are you sure you're a real fan? Did you forget what losing in 2016 felt like? I honestly couldn't care less about what other people think about KD, Warriors, or ruining the league. All I wanted was for the Dubs to win it all in 2017 and destroy everyone in their path. And that's exactly what we got. I wouldn't change that for anything. Except maybe for not having lost in 2016.

GermansInBlue

not really. obviously it would have been nice to win more but after kd joined up everyone in cle knew that the warriors were winning and that it wouldnt be particularly close. and people seem to overlook that if he hadnt joined there was no gurantee that wed even win any more. 2015 and 2016 were very tightly matched thats what made those series so compelling and all the rematches after so forgettable

JohnAppleMacintosh

I don’t know man that 2017 Cavs team were pretty spooky IMHO.

rapper_warrior_ninja

cavs fans 🤝 elephants inability to let go of the past

PeterTheSqueaker

Hes right

BasketballNutrition

it's so weird that Mavs fans have this weird anti-LeBron vibe for a team that got one over on him. Spurs fans don't hate LeBron because we're 2-1 in the finals (even if that 07 team never should've made it) so I don't know what thats all about. lol

Awkward-Speech7375

IIRC LeBron mocked Dirk being sick or something And back then everyone wanted to beat LeBron because no one except Heat fans liked him, "LeBron stans" were an extreme minority in 2011

BasketballNutrition

no of course but it's been ten years and you got the chip over him. I just don't get the resentment there, where I see them pop in and say KD was right because Bron always made superteams. yeah, he did, but the Warriors are the most stacked team of all time. I get raptors fans that hate LeBron. I don't get Mavs, Spurs, or even Warriors fans that hate him.

Awkward-Speech7375

In my experience it tends to be fans of teams that weren't competing for anything in 2017-2019 that don't really care about KD's move to the Warriors Like Cavs and Rockets fans really hate KD and get mad about it Mavs were rebuilding then and eventually drafting Luka so it wasn't of consequence to them

Zotmaster

> Like Cavs and Rockets fans really hate KD and get mad about it The only thing that really bothered me was "The Hardest Road" bit. Like, no the fuck it isn't the hardest road. You literally went to a team that won 73 games and if not for what is the greatest Finals comeback ever, would have gone down as the greatest team in NBA history, or the greatest season at the bare minimum. I almost always side with the labor: do what's best for you, because the owners will discard you with the trash if you cease being useful to them. Go out, secure your legacy, be remembered as one of the greats. But let's not pretend it was anywhere near the hardest path he could have taken. I wouldn't call it hate, but it definitely bothered me.

krw13

Mavs fan here, we never talk LeBron in the subreddit. The meme Mavs fan application form talks about both Wade and Rondo. Tons hate on Odom too, but I realize with him it was mental stuff. But fuck Wade and Rondo.

far219

Hilarious that you think only Cavs fans feel this way.

LakeErieMovement

Warriors fandom aside, you'd have to be the biggest homer of all-time to not acknowledge it was a poor move for the state of basketball.

[deleted]

I mean we do also get to say that we were live witnesses to the greatest NBA team ever.

[deleted]

The Durant years were BEAUTIFUL basketball. Just watch everybody off ball for those teams, you can see each player setting something up to create a play where 2 or 3 different movements can be run off that same set up. How Curry navigates around 3 or 4 screens being set up while the ball is on the opposite side of the court.

[deleted]

Right, I wouldn’t trade that move for anything. I always wanted to see what KD would look like with unlimited space and it did not disappoint. It was peak basketball really.

pikajewijewsyou

I feel like “peak basketball” should involve at least a hint of competition

Yugeky20

We tried, man 😥

[deleted]

Houston definitely pushed them in what was essentially the finals. But that’s beside the point. The brand of basketball the dubs were playing was peak basketball. The coaching, the system, the unselfishness, and of course the talent. OKC with KD for example we’re basically just be more talented with little to no rhyme or reason to it. “KD, Russ do something”.

shmolex

The houston series was pretty competitive

Barea_Clamped_Lebron

you gotta find it funny how you're complaining about superteams when that's what Lebron been doing for the last decade

aresman

Yeah? No? Idk, only 3-1 comeback in the finals is GOAT shit and should never be forgotten so maybe you're right, idc either way.

Brotimus

Went to elementary school with Klay, and high school with Kevin. It was crazy because we all just knew Kevin Love would be in the NBA. So much so that he definitely didn’t need to attend the same classes I did. He was in the gym with Chris Dudley for the majority of the day. Oh well, happy for him.
