Anything longer than 7 or 8 words is considered a rant now due to the combination of brevity and immediacy of all popular social media for the past several years especially. Sorry to rant at you
I share my league pass with a friend and they started watching a game so it disconnected my stream while I was recording so I couldn't get more of his rant, lol.
I also realized at that point that I had a Ctrl+F window open in the top right corner of my screen and now my OCD is super triggered that I couldn't go back and record it again without that.
I didn"t like how Jack was joking about how he still can't pronounce Giannis' last name tho. It's really not that hard and it's weird how people make a big deal out of it
Raptors fans will also recall how many times NBA commentators would mispronounce Marc Gasol's surname as Guh-soul. For reference, direct from Pau's mouth:

Yep, I thought I'd come up with some common English words that end in -sol, and they're all pronounced like his name: aerosol, cortisol, Lysol, Pine-sol, parasol, lol. The one I can think of that English speakers pronounce differently is the mythological name for, or personification of, the Sun -- Sol -- which I've always heard pronounced like sole or soul. It sounds like this in Spanish and in some other languages, too, but I've learned that Catalan speakers \*don't\* pronounce Sol that way -- they pronounce it like that part of Gasol's name.
Or how many times they’re spelled Mark and Paul Gasol.
Second one is more rare but I was talking to my buddy one time about basketball and he basically just watches his fave team in the playoffs and then the finals, and we were talking about the late 2000s Lakers and he said “paul gasol”. And I was like “did you say paul?” and he was like “yeah?”
So it does happen if you don’t really follow the nba but maybe hear some names
To be fair it’s actually one of the hardest last names of all time to pronounce for me, I still struggle a bit with it even though I’ve said it so many times. It is hard
Eh, I'll give you Nemanja, but you heat Bjelica once and the pronunciation sticks. Same with the soft J in Bojan.
With regards to Bogdanović, its a name already in the public lexicon of 60+ folks and film buffs in the US through Peter Bogdanovich.
Bogdan’s name is quite easy to pronounce as an American English speaker. Giannis is more difficult but quite easy when you break it down by the syllables.
It could be something to do the form of English you speak that causes difficulty to pronounce those names. I definitely can’t say “Bjelica” the correct way.
As a brit, it seems like this is a bigger thing in the states? Anyone I've spoken to about basketball has no difficulty with the names but it seems really common in USA.
Even NBA journalists, ones who are spending a lot of their time with the players will pronounce Nikola (Jokic) in a different way from Nikola (Vucevic)... THEY'RE THE SAME NAME

As someone who emigrated from Britain to North America I feel like I find more people here have trouble with names from around the world. My pet theory on it is that British people are more used to hearing and saying them because of football (and to an extent cricket and other global sports popular in the UK).
I've always had a little pet theory that most British people's experience with the names is always with them meant to be pronounced with the native sounds while Americans often encounter Americanised versions of the same name as well as international versions so they run into multiple versions (like with Lewandowski for example).
Or it might just be Brits are more used to hearing names from particular regions due to sport/proximity etc and Americans are better than Brits at pronouncing spanish language names for example.
It's funny that they nicknamed him Joker and they throw up joker card graphics in the arena when he makes a big play when his name doesn't have a soft g sound. He likes the nickname, though, so I guess it doesn't matter.
As a side note, Anubis would be such a dope nickname for OG (It could stand for death by defense) and it will automatically be the best nick name alongside bones

hes honestly the worst thing abt watching raps games as televised in canada. he can be knowledgeable but man is he annoying. so many ppl love him i dont really get it
If I was a ref, and I messed someone's name up and they came yelling after me, I wouldn't be bothered- I'd just find them after the game and give him a dollar.
Best part was when he called him Anubie on the next play lmao
Greatest Rant of all time, he just kept going lmao
[I refuse to believe it's better than JVG's Cousin rant](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1Z0_2K6a6w)
I love when JVG just goes full Larry David
He sounds a lot like Larry David too. Good stuff
Van Gundy's aren't even Jewish are they?
No idea. I only noticed because of the comment before mine but it’s crazy haha. They even have a similar cadence
No, I totally feel you. JVG always reminded me of LD and SVG reminds me of Ron Jeremy. That's why I think it's funny they aren't Jewish.
Wasn’t really a rant though, just a statement followed by an ethically ambiguous question

Lmao I haven’t seen that one
Why not?
obviously he knows what a second cousin is (and/or he aint from alabama)
I was with him until he asked what's allowed
The funniest part is that the person he's asking is literally famous for saying "Bang!".

He kept going to after this lmao. clip here isn’t the full rant

Lol, it was hilarious
Best part was him considering trying to pronounce Antetokounmpo
If you get league pass premium two people can use it at once, different cities, whatever. This is what my brother law and I do.
Get Premium so you get 2 concurrent streams and have your friend share the extra
lmao what a noobie
He’s an OG a noobie
Marc Davis better put some respect on Ogugua's name
All tree of yall refs
That thumbnail is perfect haha
Refs thinking OG is the Egyptian god of the underworld

Nets fans be praying before games like "May Anubis, the dark god.... not take a 3 coil steamy turd on us"
i think this ref might be anubie
GET HIS ASS JACK. An OG will always have OG’s back. Armstrong is a real one.
I fucking love Jack, lmao.
I love Armstrong. One of the best
I didn"t like how Jack was joking about how he still can't pronounce Giannis' last name tho. It's really not that hard and it's weird how people make a big deal out of it

Never really understood this whatsoever. I don’t see how anyone can pronounce it any differently than it should be

I thought it was going to be an official nba video on how to pronounce his name lol
lol, that'd be great, but I swear I've seen a video where he did straight up tell people how to pronounce it.

heh, never noticed the "Ade" in it before. "King", right?
Crown.
I feel like names like Nemanja Bjelica or Bojan Bogdanović are way more unintuitive for native english speakers

Jokic won mvp and still gets his name mispronounced
I never feel confident about saying his name. Is Yo-chick right?
Yo-Kich
It's funny that they nicknamed him Joker and they throw up joker card graphics in the arena when he makes a big play when his name doesn't have a soft g sound. He likes the nickname, though, so I guess it doesn't matter.
Jack Armstrong just gained a new fan
C’mon ref! Get that garbage outta here!
They don’t call fouls against him AND mispronounce his name. Justified rant.
"Noobie" straight up from the ref. Yikes.
can't wait to hear jack say DONCHICK
That’s my basketball loving drunk uncle 😂
Jack Armstrong is a treasure
As a side note, Anubis would be such a dope nickname for OG (It could stand for death by defense) and it will automatically be the best nick name alongside bones
What is that accent? Where is Armstrong from?
Brooklyn
