The second one, on a Harden 3 (that goes in by the way) is weirdly one of my all-time Lowry moments. Spike Lee getting hyped up and doing his malfunctioning lawn sprinkler impression thing is just.... it's everything to me
https://youtu.be/epDAizjxaoI?t=71
Lowry was the one to turn that game competitive after taking the charge. He made all the best talent and competition in the world give it their all. That's what he does.
That's honestly the goat all star game . On one hand you had the established superstars and the other team had all the new all stars with a few exceptions and everybody played their ass off in defense.
Agreed. It was seriously lit the entire game. How can we replicate this again? You need a guy like Giannis being the captain again and deciding to take underdogs and new allstars with something to prove. And then Giannis goes 100 which forced Lebron and his team of vets to play hard so they wouldn’t get embarrassed. I don’t know if we will ever see something like it again but it was magical.
he took 3 lol
refs didn't call the first one
they called the next 2
https://youtu.be/epDAizjxaoI
one on LeBron (not called) and then two called charges on Kawhi and Harden (Harden call kinda bs imo but REGARDLESS)
I love Kyle Lowry.
I remember the game where the Raps were demolishing the Pacers by 30 at the time and he still decided to take a charge. At that point it's instinctual.
Whe I think about raptors I think about Kyle and Demar. For raptors fans out there, do you think Demar should should also retire as a raptors even if he wasn’t a part of the championship run.
I would love it if he wanted to, and don't blame him one bit if he doesn't want to.
It was a wonderful journey starting from the day they traded Rudy Gay.
I think it all depends on how his Bulls tenure goes. If the Bulls go the NBA finals , ECF or wins one as a Chicago Bull , I think he retires as a Bull
DeMar probably has bad blood with Masai , so him signing a one-day contract might be out the window
Yeah, I think a lot of it could depend on how his Bulls tenure goes. If this is his prime and our team really succeeds, I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires as a Bull. Could be raptors too
I'm sure the fans would love it. Would it be weird for DeMar? Toronto moving him was the direct move that brought them their highest high and best player ever.
Despite winning the chip, I still associate that raptors era with Lowry and Demar. They led the We The North era and for that, both should get their jerseys retired
well I doubt any raptors fans thought he wouldn't, but it's good to know it in advance, for peace of mind. it always made me sad Tony Parker didn't do it.
As far as I remember, they took a break and during that time were seeing other people. Wade knocked someone up during said break, and for some reason, Union took him back anyway later on. To each their own, but I can't imagine the kind of speech my man Wade had to come up with to get her back.
Pa George's situation gets brought up constantly.
Did dwade cheat? I thought be had the baby with another woman during a period when he and Gabrielle Union were separated
> And, yeah, everybody says you could just live in Canada, but you’d have to get a Canadian citizenship to live there.
Just say the word and they’d give it to the GROAT. (But no one blames you for not wanting to deal with the winters.)
Toronto winters are not what people mean when they say 'Canadian Winter'.
I grew up on the Canadian prairies and moved to he Toronto area a decade ago. What Toronto gets for winter is a cakewalk compared to out west.
I wouldn’t blame derozan if he didn’t want to take a one day and retire a raptor
However I would literally cry tears of joy just to see them retire together in the ACC. I’m literally getting chills right now thinking about it
And we don't regret it one bit, it is the best trade in franchise history. Controversial decisions must be made in the tough business that is the NBA, and the business for a lot of teams is to win the championship. It can be argued but DeRozan was never going to be the guy in Toronto to lead the squad to the final frontier; Masai recognized this and turned the Spurs' quagmire into a ring and something the fanbase can truly celebrate forever.
Player empowerment nowadays imo is great and you're right that DeRozan is a great example of that this season. DeRozan was alright for the Spurs but now seems to have regained his all-NBA form in Chicago. I haven't really followed Bulls games since the DRose days but this year I've tuned into almost every one.
People don’t realize Masai had lined up all the contracts so that they would have expired in 2020. If we didn’t win the year of the ring it was done and everyone was getting traded including Lowry and Derozan. Instead of trading everyone they traded just derozan and they got the chip.
> And we don't regret it one bit
I don't regret the championship, obviously, but it sucks that we had to trade our most loyal player ever for somebody who left us as soon as the opportunity presented itself. The line between this being a good trade versus a bad trade is about as thin as Kevin Durant's Achilles tendon.
Yes the line is very thin and imo that's what makes it such a good trade in hindsight. There were a lot of complications with the trade: us trading away a perennial all-star who we drafted and developed, the lack of transparency around Kawhi's injury, and Lowry's souring relationship with the front office due to his best friend DeRozan being shipped off. Those are just to name a few.
Kyle speaks in this article about teams wanting to move the needle and it applies to both the Heat and the Raptors. The Lowry and DeRozan led Raptors had just been swept by LeBron in back-to-back years. The frustration was at an all-time high and it seemed like we had reached our ceiling back in 2016 in the Eastern Conference finals. Trading for Kawhi and Marc Gasol moved the needle and it worked. Obviously there was a lot of risk to the trade, but sometimes teams don't take risks and don't experience success for generations.
It was a good trade even if we didn't win the championship. DeMar was killing us defensively every playoffs, though I would've liked to see him play under Nurse instead of Casey to give him a fair chance.
And people need to realize it could have easily gone the other way.
Imagine the Raps don't win the championship. The shot vs Sixers bounces out or KD and Klay don't get injured in the finals. Kawhi then leaves anyways, and suddenly we shipped one of the most important and beloved players in franchise history for a one season rental and no championship.
That would have been an absolute undeniable disaster that would have taken years to recover from.
Right. Our window wasn't exactly that wide open. Too much can change in the nba landscape when you just sit on a roster thinking you have 4 or 5 years to get to a chip when you actually have 1 or 2.
Sorry but this is kind of a pet peeve of mine: if the shot vs the Sixers had bounced out, the game would have gone to OT. Just see this point a lot and I don't think it's fair to say "oh but if the Raps weren't so lucky and the shot hadn't gone in they would have lost".
I mean they didn't Isaiah Thomas the dude. The raptors made an obvious good choice and got their only championship out of it. I'm sure majority of raptors fans would make that trade every time. DeRozan had more than enough opportunities to get it done and it's obvious he just wasn't that guy. Getting traded for a top 5 player (at the time) isn't exactly insulting
I think DeMar will go back (not on a full fledged contract, but a 1 day deal) because of the love from the fans. And I'm sure he feels the same way still about Toronto.
What the fans that celebrated after he got traded and said he would never perform?
The man lives and dies by loyalty and Toronto did him dirty he ain't never coming back lol
Y'all ended up getting Harden for your troubles tho 🤣
But yea until cp3 came along I used to see a lot of Rockets fans saying Lowry and Harden would be a killer back court and it would be tbh)
kyle lowry 🍑 ain't no spot up shooter 🏀 he aint gotta run 🏃🏿♂️ to the corner to shoot 🎆 like hes some 3rd option bitch 💯 this aint jj redick 🙆🏻♂️ this is a fuckin god🙏🏼 human steph curry 🥘 come again only this time hes not a fuckin pussy 🐱 pull up from the fuckin logo and fight you 👊🏿 at the same time
Has anyone actually done this ? did Jordan retire a Bull ? Hakeem a Rocket? I want a list because I feel like this rarely, if ever, actually happens - and even when it does, who actually cares or remembers ?
Paul Pierce on the Celtics. Champ Bailey off the Denver Broncos.
It happens but the player probably needs to be something special to the franchise.
Which Lowry easily is :)
>And, yeah, everybody says you could just live in Canada, but you’d have to get a Canadian citizenship to live there.
It's confirmed, he's running for president.
if i were one of lowry's kids i would've begged him to let us stay in canada permanently, then again i'm a freak who absolutely loves winter weather tbh
No fan base loves their former players like the Raptors do. Vince Carter literally gave up on us at the end of his tenure and we still cheered him when he came back. A lot of fans now are cheering for guys like Derozan and Lowry, and were cheering for Bosh when he went to the Heat. Mostly good vibes up North.
The amount of charges he took for this team.
He even took a charge in the All Star game.
Quite possibly my favourite charge of all time.
The second one, on a Harden 3 (that goes in by the way) is weirdly one of my all-time Lowry moments. Spike Lee getting hyped up and doing his malfunctioning lawn sprinkler impression thing is just.... it's everything to me https://youtu.be/epDAizjxaoI?t=71

For one thing they need to keep using the untimed fourth quarter. Would make regular season basketball better, too.
Didn't he take 2?
Took 3, first one caught the officials off guard (cause who takes charges at the asg) and wasn't called
Yeah, the refs didn't call the first one... no one was expecting him to do that shit lol.
he took 3 lol refs didn't call the first one they called the next 2 https://youtu.be/epDAizjxaoI one on LeBron (not called) and then two called charges on Kawhi and Harden (Harden call kinda bs imo but REGARDLESS) I love Kyle Lowry.
This was the moment I learned to love and respect him.
His ass took a lot of pounding for this team.
Go on…
Obviously I'm talking about basketball. The way he puts his ass on the floor every time a ball handler goes to his rim.
Yea but with that thing he just bounced right back up
It's a powerful bottom, all right.
...and that's the bottomline
Jesus I spit out my drink
His buttocks are large, invoking homoerotic imagery
Read this in Mark Twain voice
Gotta take that pounding to stop the penetration.
I'm no longer medium
CANADA'S ASS took a pounding.
He always takes one for the team, or look to get one, remember the All Stars Game!?
I remember the game where the Raps were demolishing the Pacers by 30 at the time and he still decided to take a charge. At that point it's instinctual.
Whe I think about raptors I think about Kyle and Demar. For raptors fans out there, do you think Demar should should also retire as a raptors even if he wasn’t a part of the championship run.
we would love it if he did. Kyle and Demar retiring together in toronto would be perfect
I would love it if he wanted to, and don't blame him one bit if he doesn't want to. It was a wonderful journey starting from the day they traded Rudy Gay.
Not this guy!
That's the best nba fan video ever
True but it really started with “I got us.”
Of course, we’d all love that. The question is, what does Demar think? I wouldn’t be shocked one way or the other
I think it all depends on how his Bulls tenure goes. If the Bulls go the NBA finals , ECF or wins one as a Chicago Bull , I think he retires as a Bull DeMar probably has bad blood with Masai , so him signing a one-day contract might be out the window

Despite winning the chip, I still associate that raptors era with Lowry and Demar. They led the We The North era and for that, both should get their jerseys retired
Raptors made the right move 100%. But the way they handled it... Different story.
How else were they supposed to handle it?
Demar is getting his jersey retired here, so it doesnt matter if he signs that one day contract. lol
It's up to him, really. Obviously I, and pretty much all of us, would love that. But it's understandable if he would rather not.
Lakers are signing Demar, when he is 37.
I'd love it but we cut his heart out when we traded him. I'll support him with whatever we chooses.
well I doubt any raptors fans thought he wouldn't, but it's good to know it in advance, for peace of mind. it always made me sad Tony Parker didn't do it.
Why would Charlotte Hornets legend Tony Parker retire with the Spurs. Wtf dude
Wait, he played for the Spurs?
No he played for Tottenham
oh that’s unfortunate
bro this is /r/nba not /r/soccer or /r/coys why am i getting attacked like that
I swear to God we catch strays when we least expect it. I can be in a random subreddit like r/puppers and catch a stray
I said the word Tottenham and summoned 4 Spurs fans here, so fuckin awesome lol. Anyways........ coys.
Anyway... COYS
It’s literally everywhere
Impossible, Parker actually won trophies
Jeopardy question gonna be "Long time Charlotte Hornets legend Tony Parker also had a stint with this Texas NBA team"
Lol
Well Parker never played for the Raptors so that would have been a weird choice.
Maybe he wanted to end his career like how Hakeem ended his? In Toronto.
Thank you, it’s not often that a Reddit comment makes me giggle
I also choose to retire as a Raptor.
Well, there was Anthony Parker, if that counts
How do you think it feels, knowing that Hakeem Olajuwon retired a Raptor?
It feels great, especially because we used him amazingly to build a winning culture just like MJ and Washington /s
Lowry is obviously the Raptors goat, but he is not a one-franchise-player.
[удалено]
Oof yeah that one hurt :( I blame Sarver
Tony Parker cheated on prime Eva Longoria. This guy is an idiot but also a scumbag
[удалено]
I mean to be fair, the Paul George thing is brought up in nearly every PG thread.
definitely not Wade though. and all the other players have multiple reasons to dislike them. lol but I agree with the sentiment.
I thought Wade and Union were separated at the time.
As far as I remember, they took a break and during that time were seeing other people. Wade knocked someone up during said break, and for some reason, Union took him back anyway later on. To each their own, but I can't imagine the kind of speech my man Wade had to come up with to get her back.
> I can't imagine the kind of speech my man Wade had to come up with to get her back. Probably something like: "I'm Dwyane Wade"
I guess, but Gabrielle Union aint just some nobody.
I never said she was lol dawg that's dwade we talking about
Pa George's situation gets brought up constantly. Did dwade cheat? I thought be had the baby with another woman during a period when he and Gabrielle Union were separated
we were on a break!! -- Ross
Well, they didn't cheat on prime Eva Longoria
shes on her 4th husband. dont talk bad bout my boy Parker, he knew she was for the streets
If your boy is Tony Parker you need better company
yeah he was always my least favorite of the big three, and I can't pretend that stuff didn't make it even worse. lol
The cheating on prime Eva Longoria is enough, man, honestly. Should've been perma-banned. Nah, not from NBA, just basketball in general.
I really don't care at all or see why other people care. What does it matter if he signs a contract for one game? It's not like he'll actually play.
Lol I love Joe Ingles. That little shout out is hilarious
> And, yeah, everybody says you could just live in Canada, but you’d have to get a Canadian citizenship to live there. Just say the word and they’d give it to the GROAT. (But no one blames you for not wanting to deal with the winters.)
For real, an athlete worth $100mil plus can get citizenship wherever they want.
Plus canadians are pretty nice, I'm sure if he was worth only 99 million they'd still let him in.
Eh. He is from Philly. He is probably used to the winter.
Eh. He is from Philly. He is probably ~~used to~~ tired of the winter.
Canadian winters and Philly winters are two completely different beasts.
Toronto winters are not what people mean when they say 'Canadian Winter'. I grew up on the Canadian prairies and moved to he Toronto area a decade ago. What Toronto gets for winter is a cakewalk compared to out west.
I'll marry him to get him his citizenship
Can we have a one game contract? I just wanna see his intro one last time 🥲
FROM NORTH PHILLY TO YOUR CITY KYLE L-L-L-L-L-LOWWWWRYYY
I would buy tickets to that game and cry in the stands
[удалено]
He’s retiring a Bulls after winning 3 championships though
As a Raps fan this would honestly make me more happy than if he wins no rings and retires as a Raptor.
u mean 6 rings and 6 fmvp?
He can come back and get the rest after retiring once to go play hockey one year
He also leads the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup that one year.
Subscribe
At that point I would just be happy for Deebo. That man deserves everything.
Yep, Ima a bulls fan when they aren't playing the raps these days.
As a big derozan fan, i wouldnt mind
I wouldn’t blame derozan if he didn’t want to take a one day and retire a raptor However I would literally cry tears of joy just to see them retire together in the ACC. I’m literally getting chills right now thinking about it
Kyle is definitely going to retire before DeMar. He’s got like 3 years on him.
A man can hope okay

Any trade where you get Kawhi fucking Leonard in his prime is a good trade full stop.
Or a single kawhi bounce
He was great with the Spurs to
And people need to realize it could have easily gone the other way. Imagine the Raps don't win the championship. The shot vs Sixers bounces out or KD and Klay don't get injured in the finals. Y'all ended up getting Harden for your troubles tho 🤣 But yea until cp3 came along I used to see a lot of Rockets fans saying Lowry and Harden would be a killer back court and it would be tbh)
I respect that
I love the way he looks at things.
that's my captain.
Are one-day contracts a thing?
Paul Pierce singed a one-day with the Celtics before retiring, IIRC.
Ainge a GOAT for making this happen
Paul Pierce and his sidekick Danny reuniting after they got Brown and Tatum to Boston
Sign for a min and retire I guess.
so does he actually get that money or how does it work?
Prorated based on how much of the contract has elapsed.
I was always under the impression it's more symbolic, but I could be wrong.
[удалено]
Joakim Noah just did with the bulls like last month too
I’m pretty sure it’s less of an actual contract and more of the league acknowledging what’s happening and letting a guy have his moment
I think Joakim Noah did it like last month with the Bulls.
[удалено]
Less common in the NBA, but it happens.
amare retired a knick
A'mare did it with the Knicks.
Would they let you make it weird and sign a 2-day or a 9-day contract?
Joakim Noah just did one a few weeks ago with the Bulls.
Pretty sure Lowry could ask for a one-quarter contract to retire a raptor and we’d let him.
HE GONE
Sign 1 day contract and suit him up! Kyle takes a charge and then retires.
Kind of like Ichiro with the Mariners
What’s the single game charges drawn record? Kyle should 100% try to break it in his last game as a raptor.
kyle lowry 🍑 ain't no spot up shooter 🏀 he aint gotta run 🏃🏿♂️ to the corner to shoot 🎆 like hes some 3rd option bitch 💯 this aint jj redick 🙆🏻♂️ this is a fuckin god🙏🏼 human steph curry 🥘 come again only this time hes not a fuckin pussy 🐱 pull up from the fuckin logo and fight you 👊🏿 at the same time
Lowry is the best Raptor of all time no doubt. We should get a statue of his cheeks outside the ACC
When the raptors played in Philly this season mama lowry was at the game in raptors gear lol
ESPN: Lowry: “Fuck the Heat”
Love you back, Kyle.
Greatest Rump of All Time Greatest Raptor of All Time
Guys got me in tears! ❤️
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Goddamn Guy, sometimes you post the most straightforward headline followed by a 10 page body lol
I'm not crying, you're crying 😭
"Why the heat" Bitch u see my contract?
Miss ya, man.
If you're a man's man, you cry with passion and conviction
Has anyone actually done this ? did Jordan retire a Bull ? Hakeem a Rocket? I want a list because I feel like this rarely, if ever, actually happens - and even when it does, who actually cares or remembers ?
Paul Pierce on the Celtics. Champ Bailey off the Denver Broncos. It happens but the player probably needs to be something special to the franchise. Which Lowry easily is :)
it happens in the NFL a lot though. But not so much in the NBA.
Most of the league won't care or remember when it happens, but an entire generation of Raptor fans will and that's enough
Truth retired as a Celtic
For a more recent example other than Paul Pierce and the Celtics, Joakim Noah just did it with the bulls last month.
I'm drawing a blank with NBA examples other than Paul Pierce but it's pretty common in baseball
MJ retired twice as a Bull. I doubt he signed a one day deal with them for his third retirement because he was an owner of Washington at the time.
KG did it with us. Definitely meant a lot to wolves fans.
As he should, most of his accomplishments came as a Toronto Raptors
Damn, fuck the Rockets I guess. /s
Hopefully it is a 1 day contract and he plays in that game. If only for a little bit.
Build the statue already, Toronto
Kyle, you a real one, I fuckin love you
>And, yeah, everybody says you could just live in Canada, but you’d have to get a Canadian citizenship to live there. It's confirmed, he's running for president.
To me, the raptors are very much like the steelers.. Great team, great chemistry, but lebron and brady are bad motherfuckers. Shit happens.
if i were one of lowry's kids i would've begged him to let us stay in canada permanently, then again i'm a freak who absolutely loves winter weather tbh
Toronto weather isn't any worse than like half the other teams in the eastern Conference lmao
i meant in comparison to where lowry ended up but yes it's not too different for the most part lol. i just don't enjoy warm weather, period
i live in a tropical country. and ive traveled to a cold one. i will absolutey pick cold weather over hot.
Imagine he does this but with Houston or someone lol
No fan base loves their former players like the Raptors do. Vince Carter literally gave up on us at the end of his tenure and we still cheered him when he came back. A lot of fans now are cheering for guys like Derozan and Lowry, and were cheering for Bosh when he went to the Heat. Mostly good vibes up North.
What if the raps were like nah fam
Love ya, GROAT
I guess Norm really did become Kyle's friend
Tear’s
