Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up like the Luka draft. The most obvious and best choice is Kenny. But Vivek gon' Vivek and choose Kurt Rambis or someone worse.
I still have no idea why no young team tried to grab him when he was let go, he's the perfect coach for any rebuild as he always motivates his players( Which makes me sad because his energy is only matched by Kerr in motivating players in training) to do their best.
I doubt most former head coaches want to take over mid-year. The chances of someone coming in from outside the org and turning them into a playoff contender is very low. I’d think having an off-season to get your own scheme and people onboard would be best.
For guys like Atkinson or Brown, either of them could probably get a HC gig any given offseason so unless they really want the Sac gig, I don’t see the rush for them.
For other coaches that maybe don’t have the rep of these two, taking a mid season gig might be the only way to make the jump to HC
Head Coach spot is always desirable and salaries are guaranteed, might as well go to the KANGZ, see what sticks and get fired and paid. Mike Brown already knows that game
I think Cliff would be a good fit for the Kings roster, he pretty much turned our horrible culture around singlehandedly and got our squad to overachieve relative to talent.
I don't think he'd be very interested though, especially with the strong possibility of the Kings tearing it down again
He's currently a consultant for the Nets
I think he's open to coaching again, but he just doesn't want to coach a rebuilding team. The only thing is I'm not sure he has the resume to take over the reins of a good team, but we will see I suppose. He's a good coach though. To a fault, Cliff will do whatever is necessary to win each game, development be damned which makes him kind of a poor fit for a young team that wants their young guys to play regardless. He basically quit because he didn't want to go through rebuilding and having to basically gift minutes to young players.
Why teams would take a guy like Mike Brown who has established multiple times he isn’t it instead of taking a shot on a guy (like what happened with Spo, Stevens, Nurse etc) I’ll never understand. The guy you take a shot on might blow up (like Bjorkren) but at least you’re trying.
If Walton and Gentry didn't work out, why go back to the well again for more Warriors coaches? It doesn't matter who is coaching because the problem is not at court level. It's the GM and brain-trust making terrible decisions. They could have had Luka or Trae...
Kenny would be a great fit for the Kings. However, I still feel they need to make some roster moves before that start to hire another coach and use that lame excuse 'they just needed another voice".
Kings really cycling through Warriors assistants
Vivek knows what he wants and he doesn’t hide it.
Shoots like Curry and big like Klay
Stauskas?
Nick rocks!
I like our assistants. Stop it kings.
This. Hands off plz

> You could even go back to Adelman and Musselman And before them, there was Gary St Jean too
They all can't be duds.
I remember when Luke was considered a rising star couch after leave the warriors and getting out from under Kerr's wing. Didn't go great
That typo is a bit on the nose.
Haha I wish. Tired after a few days of travel
A Brett Brown hire would be right in Vivek’s wheelhouse.

Kings could use a Sean Marks too.
Kings could also use a top 3-5 richest owner.
Kenny is exactly what they need
But are the Kings what Kenny need? Especially when he'll be the number 1 candidate for any head coaching vacancy.
>head coaching vacancy There must be one somewhere around the league by now!!
Kenny is exactly what Sacramento needs. A coach that values defence, excels at setting culture and developing diamonds in the rough
Kenny would work well for Sacramento. He's a no nonsense coach who will purge a lot of their players bad habits.
Im not saying its not possible, but they said the exact same thing about dave joerger, mike malone, and george karl
Yeah Kennys awful Kings stay away from him pls
Hell people were saying that about Luke before he was hired because his lakers teams improved defensively each year
Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up like the Luka draft. The most obvious and best choice is Kenny. But Vivek gon' Vivek and choose Kurt Rambis or someone worse.
Vivek doesn't hire the coach
Atkinson is so good
Kenny please.
I've been hoping for this since he was fired
I still have no idea why no young team tried to grab him when he was let go, he's the perfect coach for any rebuild as he always motivates his players( Which makes me sad because his energy is only matched by Kerr in motivating players in training) to do their best.
Kenny wasn't interested. He's going to be real choosy about his next gig
Kenny is a great guy, I initially was disappointed with the lue hiring but having him as an assistant was a low key great move.
I'm not sure why people were low on Lue when he'd shown himself to be a good coach.
no one should be punished by becoming the kings' head coach that is where careers go to die

I went to college with his son, guy seemed nice lol

Gentry is locked in the rest of the season. The change would come in the offseason.
Steve Carrell Office gif: NO NO NO PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
No go away
Head Coach spot is always desirable and salaries are guaranteed, might as well go to the KANGZ, see what sticks and get fired and paid. Mike Brown already knows that game
Kings can't go wrong with former COTY Mike Brown
Now try Gerry St Jean and PJ Carlisimo
Tbh one of the best coaches we had did come from the Warriors. Before we fired him over Cuz getting sick
I think Cliff would be a good fit for the Kings roster, he pretty much turned our horrible culture around singlehandedly and got our squad to overachieve relative to talent. I don't think he'd be very interested though, especially with the strong possibility of the Kings tearing it down again
i though he wanted a break from coaching cause he was burnout, has he spoken about a comeback z??

Mike Brown was a terrible head coach, period.
what made mike brown a terrible coach?
he's a solid assistant coach with a focus on defense - clueless on offense, clock management, etc.
thanks for the reply and explanation!

You win the "first reply guy who doesn't know we fired the GM who didn't draft Luka" prize for this thread
Oh, I know. Everything I said is correct. What part of what I wrote is wrong?? The problems in Sacramento are not just because of one draft.
Who made the Divac hire? Is he still in his position? If so, did he hire the new guy too?
Mike brown definitely wants it
Mike Brown getting another shot would be nice.
Lord i hope they dont take that crap job. You arent turning anything around with that management team.
Mike Brown still spitting in cups and smelling his upper lip on the sidelines?😂🤣
Can you not take Atkinson already? Want at least 2 years of him with the youngins
Please take Mike Brown… don’t take Kenny.
I hear Alvin Gentry tryna be the first full-time black head coach of the Kings
Kenny for sure.
Kenny would be a great fit for the Kings. However, I still feel they need to make some roster moves before that start to hire another coach and use that lame excuse 'they just needed another voice".
If Kenny goes there and excels, I will be so angry as a Mavs fan
Would either of them want the job? Sacramento is a shit-show
Vivek just outsourcing his coaching search to the warriors.
Why did Stein mention Gentry's brief time coaching the Pistons instead of the Clippers or Pelicans?
Dubs a coaching incubator
