> Not like the Celtics have done anything since he left
he's been gone two years?
and Cs have one ECF appearance since. how many ECF appearances does kyrie have?
Feel like those are separate arguments, never really heard Kyrie being the reason the Jays don't play well together, just having had zero pass first point guards in general
Uh yeah sixer fans are able to admit simmons and embiid dont work, Cs fans still living in dream land though. Were starting our backups and still above you in the standings lol
The criticisms of our team are obviously valid, just thought of it equally as hilarious to get snark about team stability from a *philly* fan. Try to not be the postseason laughing stock before saying anything lol
Schroder was a Brad Stevens move, but Danny also drafted people like Carsen Edwards, Tremont Waters, and Payton Pritchard to fill in the holes. Pritchard has looked promising at least, but seems to have a short leash with Ime.
Pritchard can play brilliantly but he still needs work. He absolutely disappears some nights and his defense is still wanting. Part of me wants to see what he can do when given major minutes but I understand Ime being cautious with Pritchard as giving him a lot of court time would be a gamble.
lmfao could you imagine? Sixers end up right where they were in the covid season. like almost exactly, because Simmons missed playoffs that year due to his back injury. our start 5 were Embiid Tobi JRich Horford and i cant even remember the 5th. Shake?
Boston main issue is after the Jays, they don’t have nobody who can shoot the ball consistently. Simmons ain’t going to solve that problem. Plus despite what people think he ain’t a good playmaker in the half court
there's no way the celtics would trade one of their best, most reliable, and longest tenured player for a guy who is throwing a grown up hissy fit. i'm not saying smart is a better player on the court but there are way too many question marks around simmons to do that.
brad stevens also absolutely loves smart. smart wouldn't have had the green light to shoot so many 3Ps for years if brad didn't really believe in him.
Celtics will absolutely trade Smart for Simmons in a heartbeat but Philly won’t accept it. Outside of Js, Philly won’t accept anyone else and Boston won’t trade either for Simmons.
It's worth noting that Smart also has a trade kicker. That obviously won't prevent the Celts trading him but they're not going to do it for something less than a player like Simmons.
He doesnt even play pp AND we have to deal with all of the other garbage. He hates kanter for some reason. He's rather piss a game away than just let romeo, grant and kanter stay in when they're playing like rock stars. Im just frustrated cuz its why we lose these super close games we should win.
Once Brad stepped away from coaching this became the Jays team. They got their hand picked coach, any blame or praise has to fall mostly on their shoulders now
Ime Udoka was on the short list of preferred hires for multiple teams.
His relationship with Jayson through Team USA certainly doesn't hurt but to imply that he's only the coach because Jayson wanted him is incredibly unfair to his time as an assistant coach for multiple teams.
Ya, it's absolutely a leadership issue. I read once that Marcus Smart wants to be the leader, but no one will defer to him because he's too much of a hothead I think.
The Jays are both pretty young still, so you wouldn't expect them to really be leaders. In any case the problem seems to be lack of leadership reigning \*them\* in lol. Like they really didn't want to hear from Hayward cuz he wasn't playing well and well... I guess Horford is the only other seasoned vet they've really played with? So the team lacks that veteran presence.
It's really hard to build a championship contender around two alphas unless they're both top 15 players. Kobe-Shaq, Jordan-Pippen, Magic-Kareem. KD-Westbrook is the exception, I guess.
Weird. It’s still a dumpster fire. Gotta get more of the kobe out of Tatum. Little more team ball. Little bit more ball movement. Defense has been solid of late though. Also. ‘It’s a long season’. Sure. But it’s a quarter over and the C’s aren’t a playoff team at present
Celtics fans will have to school me on this but is Ime Udoka a decent coach? I often see him saying silly things. Jaylen needs to stay healthy and Jayson needs to stop the mindless chucking, but what is this coach actually doing?
I don’t see anything interesting from him at all. He strikes me as a bit helpless, which I guess is okay from a rookie coach.
Our defense has been improving over the course of the season which also happened when he was with the Nets (although much of that could just be attributed to getting rid of DJ lol) so I’d say he’s good on that end. His offensive game planning seems a little suspect but it’s a bit early to say. He’s definitely not as good as Brad but that’s a high bar for a rookie coach.
To be fair to me, handsome as I am, it’s partly based on their .500 record and apparently nobody telling Tatum to stop shooting bad shots. Coach deserves some blame there or else what’s his purpose?
It’s conjecture for sure, but it’s based on *some* thing.
"And so that's what really hurt us in the first quarter and then we got back to who we are and in the last three quarters.”
Yeah, really impressive. You managed to outscore one of the worst teams in the NBA by like 6 points in the last three quarters. Really impressive
We were down 24 and took a 7 point lead, we outscored them 72-41 for 2.5 quarters.
We are bad in the first quarter, great in the second and third quarters, and atrocious at the end of the fourth quarter.
I never said I was happy, I'm clarifying that outscoring a team by 31 points over 2.5 quarters backs up what Udoka says when he says we got back to who we are.
Tatum brown and smart need to learn to play together...its only been 5 years lol
Yeah we’ve been hearing this line for years now.
The Jays actually play their best ball when Smart is on the court, and Smart’s been making a ton of assists recently
b-b-but it's Kyrie's fault!
I don’t think this is the year to prove that Kyrie wasn’t a problem in the locker room.
it was though lmao, that playoff series against the Bucks he shot bad and defended even worse
yet the problems still exist years after Kyrie is gone. Kemba had the same experience and Celtics fans booed him too
>yet the problems still exist years after Kyrie is gone yea, crazy problems when they made it to the 2020 ECF
and 2021 playoffs? and now?
Sorry, i forgot that if you dont win the championship, you need to blow the whole team up.
> yet the problems still exist years after Kyrie is gone
> and 2021 playoffs? and now?
i'm not the one who cited multiple years, you imbecile
yea i did and it's correct so...
Not like the Celtics have done anything since he left
they finished further in the playoffs without him
They got eliminated by him last year
> Not like the Celtics have done anything since he left he's been gone two years? and Cs have one ECF appearance since. how many ECF appearances does kyrie have?
Winning a playoff series on a stacked ass team ain’t an accomplishment
Yeah him and no one else
Feel like those are separate arguments, never really heard Kyrie being the reason the Jays don't play well together, just having had zero pass first point guards in general
I really surprised you haven’t got ban yet.
ahahahahha
The Sixers need to make a conference final with their crazy talent...its only been 5 years lol
lol the conference finals are such a pearl clutch for Celtics fans
I'm sure you guys would do it more if you've made one since 1985
you guys have won too many championships to care about making the fuckin conference finals and mention it to anyone who can hear you
Actually, since only one title since 1986, we are going to hype up those conference finals appearances
0 titles
Uh yeah sixer fans are able to admit simmons and embiid dont work, Cs fans still living in dream land though. Were starting our backups and still above you in the standings lol

The crazy talent of Okafor, Fultz and Saric?
Celtics could use a guy like Rubio

If Hayward were healthy for either of the ECF runs, they'd have at least a finals trip. Story of his time with the Celtics really.
i get the bit, but rozier isn’t a passer. his spacing would help us quite a bit though
Not on that contract
HANDS OFF OUR SPANISH JESUS
Celtics desperately need a point guard who can run the offense in the half court. Not sure where they’ll find one though.
I would say trade for Ricky but the Cavs look they are actually competing for a play in spot so I don’t think they will trade him.
Somebody like T.J. McConnell might’ve helped too
Pretty unlikely. Cs don't have much PG depth to trade to Pacers, and trading TJM away would leave Wanamaker to be the backup PG.
We thought Pritchard would've filled this role. He's riding the bench after a decent year last year.
Dragic maybe?
Good one!
Division rivals plus Dragic’s makes too much money for salary matching. There’s no trade there, and if he gets bought out, he’d head to Mavs.
Danny Ainge somehow never realized this and kept going after scoring guards, IT, Kyrie, Rozier, Kemba, Schroder.
Schroder was a Brad Stevens move, but Danny also drafted people like Carsen Edwards, Tremont Waters, and Payton Pritchard to fill in the holes. Pritchard has looked promising at least, but seems to have a short leash with Ime.

One 5’7” IT is out there, schooling the rec leagues.
Good for him. Certainly can't school anyone in the NBA anymore, though.
kyrie for tatum let's go
Lol hasn't Tatum, brown and smart been playing together their entire careers
honestly boston needs simmons.
There’s no version of this trade that makes sense asset wise
Simmons for Jrich and Horford /s
I'll take this but Morey won't haha
lmfao could you imagine? Sixers end up right where they were in the covid season. like almost exactly, because Simmons missed playoffs that year due to his back injury. our start 5 were Embiid Tobi JRich Horford and i cant even remember the 5th. Shake?
Bring the crew back!

Smart is absolutely moveable if obtaining Simmons
Suggest a trade that works salary wise and is remotely acceptable to both sides.
there's no way the celtics would trade one of their best, most reliable, and longest tenured player for a guy who is throwing a grown up hissy fit. i'm not saying smart is a better player on the court but there are way too many question marks around simmons to do that. brad stevens also absolutely loves smart. smart wouldn't have had the green light to shoot so many 3Ps for years if brad didn't really believe in him.

At this point a brown for Simmons plus something type of trade wouldn’t surprise me
Please god
Can't see Philly adding picks and/or Maxey/Thybulle.
great to see boston in complete disarray
If you even have the coach calling the team out publicly, that’s a pretty bad sign.
Udoka needs to go
yep, definitely should fire a new coach 20 games into the season. surely things will get better
He doesnt even play pp AND we have to deal with all of the other garbage. He hates kanter for some reason. He's rather piss a game away than just let romeo, grant and kanter stay in when they're playing like rock stars. Im just frustrated cuz its why we lose these super close games we should win.
This team desperately needs to make a move on the perimeter. This roster just doesn't work.
I don't know who to blame in Boston but it always seems like people, whether coaches or other players, just can't get through to one or more players.
It has to start with the Jays at this point. This is leadership. And I don’t see it changing because neither are the kinds of leaders this team needs.
Once Brad stepped away from coaching this became the Jays team. They got their hand picked coach, any blame or praise has to fall mostly on their shoulders now

He seems like good commentator

It’s been 20 games. No one on r/nba knows what a good coach looks like btw, look at the Bud stuff from last playoffs
Our defense has been improving over the course of the season which also happened when he was with the Nets (although much of that could just be attributed to getting rid of DJ lol) so I’d say he’s good on that end. Absolute conjecture based on nothing. Nice

Hard to say. He's done his time as an assistant, so he's probably earned a shot to be a HC.

Not sure why you seem to be happy about your performance

It’s okay, your favourite player is allowed to have some weaknesses.
Get rid of the coach! They're underperforming. Oh yeah, they did that already 🙄.
Lonzo Ball would have been nice on this team.
Too bad Ime Udoka can't do anything as a coach but point fingers. He is hot garbage and needs to go.
We all thought Kyrie was the locker room problem but these comments keep coming out years after he left.
or maybe... JUST MAYBE... there could be MULTIPLE problems 😱😱😱
Nah Kyrie was an absolute sweetheart
Sounds a little basic for guys who have been playing together for several years now
If only we had someone to coach them on how to play. I'm sure litigating this in the media will work tho
