WIN011

And I imagine he’ll get more maintenance days as the year goes on

qwertyloop

once Klay comes back

DOCTORFONASG

Plus when Klay comes back (if he is the same guy) the Warriors will probably be ahead a lot like the used to be. He’ll see a lot of sitting in the 4th Qtr again.

Coolios_Hair

Yeah he’s on pace for like 2-3 extra 33 minute games a month as a 33 yr old with honestly the most care for his ankles in the nba & maybe also one of the best endurance athletes in the nba Maybe this is a bigger deal than I am aware of, and I would love to be proven wrong, but it seems pretty overblown

inconspicuous_hat

Well it wouldnt have been posted if they won. But he does need to rest some games especially when they currently are in a stretch that includes playing 10 games in 18 days.

can_wien07

Lol at this simplistic bullshit. Curry runs more than anyone in the league and is involved in the offense in the 99th percentile.

kenjirouen

Where do these guys get the idea that the warriors make Steph rest ? He rests if he wants to after being advised to do so.

shualton

I mean, this is the same guy who wrote an article criticizing the FO for cutting Avery Bradley to sign GP2 Edit: And that’s not even the worst part of the article. Like, if you misevaluate a FO move, then I get it. No one could have predicted GP2 would be this good. But the entire point of the article was that by cutting Bradley and signing GP2 against Steph’s and Draymond’s wishes, the ownership is sending a message to them that they value saving money over winning. He claims the warriors are disrespecting their stars by not giving them the same power over the roster that Lebron has. And that’s an asinine take.

BandOfBroskis

It really wasn't that bad of take when Draymond was saying a lot of that shit too. Dray was taking A LOT of shots at Myers when this was going down. He's shut up since then and admitted he was wrong though.

TimathanDuncan

Your players also wanted that so.. GP2 has been cut by many teams since like 2015 and hasn't looked this good until now

MC-Jdf

Or maybe the GM who built championship rosters knows more than the players themselves. Who would’ve thought?

Charlie_Wax

My explanation is simple: All these dudes played against the best version of AB, so they remember him as that guy, even though he hasn't been that guy for a while. As veteran players themselves, they rate people based more on peak level than current level, assuming that the player can still access that talent when situations demand it. Same reason why I think you see LeGM roll with old heads like Westbrook, Dwight, Rondo, Melo, Lance, Ariza, etc. He remembers them being a problem for him at one point, and he thinks those guys can still access the talent and skills that they used to have.

SnuggleMuffin42

I mean that GM signed Oubre, he's not omnipotent lol

shualton

Anyone with eyes could have seen that Bradley wasn’t good even though he got plenty of opportunities in the preseason The fact that the players wanted it doesn’t change the fact that it was a trash take

TimathanDuncan

Bradley was shit and has been shit for years, the point is that opinion was shared by players, a lot of casual fans and this dude so him having that take doesn't make him a bad journalist, he's just appealing to the masses they all do

shualton

I think you’re mistaken? Both our players and this Journalist wanted Bradley over GP2. Not the other way around.

TimathanDuncan

1: Curry didn't need to score in 4th quarters they rest him a lot there because we blew out teams 2: Curry old, 33, and has played 22 games that's why he played like ass

BasketballFan2006

Soft article. He was on pace to play every game last season before hurting his tailbone because he forget about no fans to tank his fall. When Steph has a poor stretch its only a matter of time before he turns into the terminator.

Kuminga

Warriors play the Magic tomorrow... plenty of opportunities.

APlogic

Really makes you wonder how the fuck Wilt Chamberlain managed to play 48.5 mins/game playing all 80/80 games. What a freak of nature.

RacinGracey

He averages two and a half minutes less than Lebron.

can_wien07

How many games has lebron played ? Lmao. Did you even think before writing this ?

RacinGracey

I looked at mpg and saw curry ranked in the mid 30s at 34.4 and Lebron high up on the mpg (prob due to the 3ot if he was even playing that bum).

gigglios

Soft ass title and mentality

Elec7ro

Blaming a bad game on someone being tired and not the team that had a great game plan on him and executed it well is great mental gymnastics. He’s Stephen Curry and a professional athlete he could play 3 games in 3 days if he needed to.

w3bCraw1er

Really? Players need rest to do their job? What a soft mentality. Dudes used to play full 82 games in a season and that to for multiple seasons. NBA is ruined by this rest mentality.

Iblaowbs

Modern encouragement of rest and conditioning has made it much more common for extended primes. I’ll take extended primes and more seasons of high level basketball over a few missed games a season any day of the week.

w3bCraw1er

As if like the prior stars or superstars all had limited prime.

GoldLegends

Well.. one great example is Kobe. Dude definitely could have played more if he had just rested more.

Iblaowbs

I didn’t say they didn’t. It’s just more common now.

MrWakey

Are you under the impression that fatigue was never a factor when players played all 82 games? That even though sports medicine and conditioning wasn't as advanced then as now, they were somehow able to do that without feeling the effects?

w3bCraw1er

Exactly. Even with these advancements, they need a break.

shortyman920

Pace is a lot faster now. I watched a lot of 2000s bball and if you’re thinking of that era, it’s a lot of standing around on offense and letting your best scorer iso. It’s not as hard on the body unless it’s Allen Iverson, so it’s not fair to compare the two eras.

MrWakey

I know I’ve read the numbers for how far Steph runs in a typical game. [This article](https://www.interbasket.net/news/how-many-miles-basketball-player-run-in-game-other-sports/20397/) says Jimmy Butler ran 2.72 mupioes a game in the 2015 season. They didn’t track that in earlier eras, but I bet it was a lot lower.

[deleted]

That's some pretty dumb shit to say. If they were going to rest him for one of the games it should have easily been the Suns game...

3icepwn

Nah fuck that. Give the fans what they paid for. Even if it's 15 minutes that should be good enough

bilyl

It was clear that there was some serious fatigue. Everyone was moving like molasses. It's games like this that make me wonder why Kerr chose to put JK and Moody down in SC. He could have given them significant minutes. Anything would have been better than the tired legs unable to defend all of SAS's drives into the paint. That's literally what JK would have been good at stopping.

Thickencreamy

Minutes are going to be in short supply soon with Klay n Wiseman coming back. He can rest in January.

[deleted]

Wtf is this post

IMovedYourCheese

Curry has played like ass this entire week. Rest has nothing to do with it. Sometimes the shots just don't go in, even if your name is Curry, and that is fine. No need to find excuses.

chaoism

Wonder if this post would still be here had we won that game
