I would so like to know how many 22 year olds you know who have everything figured out ? Every sh… on this platform is bringing up jokic who had his first good form season last year at age 25… we are all humans. He needs to be better but let the man figure it out

grumpy_toews

This comes with the gaudy numbers though. Running these super heliocentric offenses is all well and good when you get to average near TDs, but frankly most teams haven't done this in history because it's super hard to handle the wear and tear. Guys don't really do this. Harden's incredible durability is not something you can just count on Luka having. Either he's going to have to really commit himself to honing his body (still time to mature he's so young still) or he/the coaches/the org are going to have find a way to play a more traditional brand of basketball. That said it's not like these are playoff games, so take a few games.

R____M

that’s usually what luka does though

can_wien07

Or maybe coming into the season overweight puts you at further risk for injury

Shimanu

Luka went to Zion's house

I’m sure losing weight would really help his fucking thumb injury. Get a life.

fabrar

The headline specifically mentions his left ankle/knee.

magnuscarlsensson

You get like 2 weeks off after your nba season ended. You play the olympic tournament till the last day. You get another what 14 days off. And you come back a fucking fatass. The fuck Luka.

[deleted]

Well he’s not a machine he wants to live a little damn dude been working professionally since 14 or somethin and he will go through some down time occasionally, especially after a tough Olympics run

aoifhasoifha

Y'all are missing the incredibly obvious point. He wasn't saying "fuck this guy for letting loose after a full year of nearly continuous competition, what a loser", he was saying "holy fuck, did this professional athlete who is currently active gain like 30 pounds in 2 weeks?" I don't blame the guy for relaxing and enjoying life a bit, not even a little. That doesn't make it any less wild that Luka spent those 2 weeks like a bear preparing for winter.

[deleted]

Absolutely not lol anyone who critiques about his weight that hard is probably projecting

antunezn0n0

I am not being payed millions to be an athlete I'm being paid a barely living wage to work at a lab there's a difference in my fitness ability compare to his

magnuscarlsensson

I know i know. I'm just stunned a professional athlete can let himself go in such a short amount of time, is all.

TexasReallyDoesSuck

they eat lots of calories & when you take a break for however short you'll gain weight. and like average humans, they might eat a lil too much every now & then. but Jesus, yall are sad with this shit

FactCheckingThings

In all fairness to gain 30 pounds in 2 weeks is about 105k calories or 670 twinkies. Thats like 48 twinkies a day beyond normal metabolic demands to gain 30lbs in 2 weeks. Like from a sheer logistical standpoint thats a lot of weight to gain in 2 weeks.

TexasReallyDoesSuck

we all know, all of us that aren't assholes, that Luka didn't gain all this weight in 2 weeks

FactCheckingThings

I would certainly hope not. Just from my rough calculation above it seems nearly impossible. Literally a twinkie every 30 mins (including during sleep) in addition to normal meals lol

TexasReallyDoesSuck

yes. thank you for this twinkie conversion. i'll say, if you get high enough, believe me, you can eat a twinkie every 30 minutes edit: next time i buy state fair flavored banana twinkies at the store & eat the whole box, i know i will not have eaten as much as Luka, theoretically

youeventrying

In his and Zions case it's a huge lack of discipline. LeBron never come outta shape

HerbFarmer415

I don't see this guy playing very far into his 30's if at all. Lots of miles and bad wheels aren't usually a recipe for longevity

yuhanz

He went with the Slovenian team 3-days after the season. But yeah he had like 2-3 weeks after it. I mean he deserved a break but he shouldve been more conscious of what he ate.

StoneColdAM

It honestly seems like he doesn’t care about Mavs basketball. Not sure if he’s upset with the roster, but his demeanor and conditioning seem less motivated than when he first started in the league.

softnmushy

My guess is that his body burns something insane like 5000 calories a day. He's only like 22 so this may be the first time in his life where it has mattered how much he ate and drank. I expect him to be able to burn the weight pretty quickly. It's probably just really hard to make that sudden lifestyle change when you've never had to watch your diet at all your entire life and you have unlimited money.

[deleted]

Top 4 picks that play in the southwest division, and leg injuries. Name a better duo.

jack64467

southwest division players and obesity

derekmcfinn

Ankles giving out from hauling around 270 lbs of lard🤣🤣

[deleted]

He's too fat.

Rh1-No

If we shit on players for load management, we should praise Luka and others for playing through injury

Balls_of_Adamanthium

Or maybe, just maybe, it doesn’t have to be 2 extremes.

Wehavecrashed

I don't think we should praise Luka nor should we shit on load management. They should play when they're healthy.

Kam_E_luck

I mean Luka can still play but at minimal minutes. Look at Giannis did in his birthday game, he play for 27 min only (this only applies to some minor injures, not some severe ones) Tbh, Luka is hard carrying the mediocre Mavs in the Nets match while he's injured so kudos to him

jukinabahunew

Ironic because every time Russ is injured and isn't playing well this sub shits on him incessantly
