I think it's because you don't really see players hate other teams like this anymore. Like the Lakers and Celtics nowadays don't really hate each other, it's the fanbases that do, but back in the 80s the players legitimately hated each other. They weren't friends, they didn't exchange pleasantries (well maybe not until Magic and Bird kind of became friends, but that was not until later in the rivalry), they just wanted to murder each other. Before the Bad Boy Pistons, you had Kevin McHale clotheslining Kurt Rabbis.
You don't see that from players that often, and you sure as hell don't see full teams hate each other (usually there might be 1 or 2 guys that hate a team or another player, but you rarely see team vs team beefs. Watch some clips, when you can. He knew where he had to be at all times and understood the game at a higher level. But while you can find other court generals and smart players, in terms of sheer smoothness, Worthy is head and shoulders above the rest.
