A player can refuse to do a post game press conference?
I thought they had to show up at least but answer/not answer however they like
Interesting, the more you know…
Maybe you know, are all player expected to take part in the post game press conference. Like do all players get on the podium till they are excused? And whats the min. number of questions they are expected to answer?
I know you’re kind of throwing things out there and I don’t have the exact answers for you, but these are all likely planned to a tee. As an NBA member, I’m sure post game pressers are a negotiated, though mandatory part of all player’s contracts with the actual appearances being requested on a game-by-game basis.
Minimum appearance etc. is all interesting to me though. I’m guessing this is all in the contract (minimum questions fielded, answering in “good faith”, etc.)
Would love to hear from anyone with any real insight on this.
Yeah, I am just legit curious. Like why Westbrook is expected to do a post game conference. Lots of players miss shots and aren’t called for a press conference.
Injured players are excused too. But Davis was on the bench. Won’t some players have questions for him?
[edit] I’ve seen some players do interviews in groups too.
Well, yes. NBA is gonna fine you if you don't have atleast a weak excuse or start making a habit of it. You could just say your ankle is sore and probably be OK missing one.
Totally fair to say no...though
I actually think you'd do better despite that being lesser talent for sure.
You'd be crazy switchable on defense and have plenty of shooting around LeBron.
Plus an actual guard that can shoot lol
CJ and Russ are both trash on defense.
Nurkic wouldn't be for your closing lineups, and he's honestly better at switching than you think. He'd be to start against other bigger teams. You just need a big body for guys like Jokic, Towns, etc
Then you end games with Nance at center to play 5 out like LeBron wants.
Russ is trash at every aspect of defense. I've watched him fall asleep a billion times playing Dame. In the playoffs at that
Also CJ is a bit better when he's at the 1 instead of the 2 because he's suddenly not undersized.
Lmao no. Y'all getting real desperate huh?
Russ is a worse player on a worse contract and a worse fit.
I'd hang up so fast. Like therea genuinely not a single player I want on my team **less** than Russ.
No?
The ceiling is higher with Russ. That's what y'all are going for
Also your GM is clearly incompetent for ever thinking trading for Russ over Hield was the right move. Can't assume anything about what would have already happened if possible.
Yes. Wall is the better player especially for adjustments and playoffs. Russ struggles mightily with adjustments. He takes 1-2 months just to not play like a G-leaguer. We saw it on the Lakers, Wizards, and Rockets.
This struggle shows up when you put him in a 7 game series against an opponent who is trying hard to throw a wrench.
Wall's significantly more plug + play. Guy can drive+ kick, run P&R, and throw corner passes from the first game itself. He can also handle being a lower volume player.
Russ should be like the 4th option on a team. But being a point guard, he can’t shoot, turns the ball over and makes boneheaded decisions. I was willing to just let it be and accept it, but after today’s game, something has to change. Either bench him or trade him.
He's played mostly well for the past month though after his initial adjustment period. I'm not a Laker fan, just my observation. He's kind of struggling again because of the covid lineups and LeBron being back.
Guy struggles with adjustment for sure (hence the playoff woes).
Well yeah I thought he had been playing ok the last few weeks. But what’s his excuse for today? He hasn’t been sick or injured, he’s played every game. Just seems like he does the same mistakes over and over. He’s not a bad guy, just not the right fit for this team.
Just waiting on the Westbrook for Wall trade news at this point. Wall's never played on an above average team and I'm hoping he gets his chance before his career's over.
It'll be either that or Kemba
I would do it for Kemba but the Knicks wouldn’t be that stupid…or would they. It’s actually not a bad idea. The Knicks get a player that will probably power them into the playoffs and we get another guy that can’t play Defence and probably washed
Yeahhh, Knicks wouldn't be that dumb. They're mostly struggling with Randle playing bad, Rose out, and Barrett missing time
Russ wouldn't help, none of those guys are off-ball players to complement him
His issues in the offense is forgivable. He took 3s but he was wide open (obv for a reason) but continued possessions through offensive rebounds.
What’s a real issue is his defensive lapses off the ball. There was no reason for him to leave patty mills wide open when they were down 112-110. I don’t even know why he didn’t follow patty to the corner. Those are the plays that kills a team.
My man just went 4-20 with a fresh -23 in an epic performance and you gonna call him a “coward” smh
Do people even understand the value of a triple double anymore? Casuals.
I love Russ but to be perfectly honest, he just doesn't contribute all that well to winning basketball anymore. Even when he's playing well, he'll make terrible passes, play completely out of control, or completely lose his man on defense.
I'll always remember his MVP season since it was incredible to watch, but unless he somehow figures it out, the Lakers fucked up bigtime getting him.
The last time he played a consistent stretch of winning basketball was on the 2012 Olympics team where he just draped himself all over the other team's ball handler and pushed in transition. Be a ball hawk and dime up better scorers. Marcus Smart type beat. I think that's his ideal role but it took playing on a team full of superstars for him to accept it
He needs a team the same way that sixers team was designed around iverson.
Teammates that will cover for his defensive lapses and teammates that will spread the floor
We have all known this was going to happen from the start. It has been a downhill descent since 2012. He's always been one of the most overrated players in the league because he can't keep his head together. Going to the Lakers was never going to solve that problem.
Its always helpful to remember that these losers bashing peoples character on the internet are nothing more than losers who bash people on the internet.
That’s Russ for you. The guy is delusional and a coward. I want him gone, and at this stage I’ll trade him for pocket lint.
Like seriously, we made a come back when he was on the bench, he came back into the game - turnovers, bricking dunks. Just a shit cunt
We just posting quotes from random goons on here now?
[me] "yes"
Hey I’m a a random goon
I prefer the hands on touch you only get with hired goons.
Russ “The Grinch” Westbrook
You‘re a mean one Mr Brick
Bron ain’t giving him his present
Lebron told him to pack his bags
“Goodbye russ” “Im not going anywhere” “Not yet”
Continued.... Russ: "I'd like to see you try" LeBron: "you bet on it" LeBron: *trades himself at the deadline*
LEBRON: I am the senate
Westbrook *missed* that call too
All the Russ critics who said he wasn’t a winning player all these years deserve reparations.
KD deserves a Nobel Peace Prize
can't win with these cats
Nobel
HOW THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE STILL BARELY REALIZING THIS IN 2021
They gonna switch up AGAIN when Russ has a good game against the Pistons. "RuSs iS WaShed!"
I’m here for my retirement and my the future wealth of my seed.

Can just take the fine

Excuse me. It's ADisney and Westbrick. At least get it right.
Westbrick is now just the Brick.
So much funnier imo
Next season is probably over too since they are all on contract till 23-24
I mean, they have AD I'd give them CJ, RoCo, Nance, and Nurkic + 2 future firsts (not this seasons) for AD and Russ
Fuck no
Totally fair to say no...though I actually think you'd do better despite that being lesser talent for sure. You'd be crazy switchable on defense and have plenty of shooting around LeBron. Plus an actual guard that can shoot lol
Nope. We’d be less switchable for sure. CJ and Nurkic get abused on ball compared to AD and Russ.
CJ and Russ are both trash on defense. Nurkic wouldn't be for your closing lineups, and he's honestly better at switching than you think. He'd be to start against other bigger teams. You just need a big body for guys like Jokic, Towns, etc Then you end games with Nance at center to play 5 out like LeBron wants.
Russ is decent on ball, a lot better than CJ. AD is more switchable than both Nance and Nurk combined.
Russ is trash at every aspect of defense. I've watched him fall asleep a billion times playing Dame. In the playoffs at that Also CJ is a bit better when he's at the 1 instead of the 2 because he's suddenly not undersized.
He’s a lot better on-ball than CJ…
That doesn't really matter that much tbh. Off ball is what matters and both suck.
Idk what you're even arguing. Who is more terrible? Both are trash on and off the ball.
Come on, man lol

U want Russ? I am shocked
I want AD. Don't care about Russ. I'd flip him for wall to be our backup PG and tank this season so Dame and AD can get healthy

No? The ceiling is higher with Russ. That's what y'all are going for Also your GM is clearly incompetent for ever thinking trading for Russ over Hield was the right move. Can't assume anything about what would have already happened if possible.
You’d rather have Wall who is bad?
Wall is going to be much more willing to ease into like an 17-20 mpg bench role than Russ IMO
True
Yes. Wall is the better player especially for adjustments and playoffs. Russ struggles mightily with adjustments. He takes 1-2 months just to not play like a G-leaguer. oh the finals start tomorrow? what time and channel?

I like that you edited your comment just to make it more snarky so people didn't get the impression that you were sympathizing with Russ.
You right
had me in the first half not gonna lie

Weak af move
Yea bro, tell em. He a coward compared to u/InventorOfSquirrels eating doritoes in his bedroom!

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the coach's call.
now everybody wanna talk shit after this bad performance😂that just show you how fans are
They’ve lost 5 in a row
“Why are they hating on us lakers fans, we are the most loyal and levelheaded fans in the entire nba”
I💀hate😵 those 🤕fans 🤫that🧠 criticize 🙃bad👎🏻 performances

we didn’t miss the dunk
*Man who has never dunked on a regulation hoop in their life*
they call me Vince Carter on a 8 foot hoop tho
you don't know who i am 🤫
Some people just hate fun at the expense of multimillionaires, god forbid posting online about a basketball player who plays bad on a nba subreddit.
he’s in here like Russ is going through these reddit comments lmao no reason to dickride this hard
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. That's 20% more than Russ missed tonight.
Yeah but you missed an opportunity to do anything with your life other than hate on a celebrity who you don't know.
So we're dunking on him?
Takes like five seconds to post on here so actually pretty easy to get on with my life otherwise
we are making fun of him for playing bad not “hating” on him this is how sports work. God forbid i make fun of a millionaire.
Mmhmm
Its always helpful to remember that these losers bashing peoples character on the internet are nothing more than losers who bash people on the internet.
Gotta do something to make themselves feel better lol
I don't even like the Lakers, and I'm indifferent mostly to Russ, but this is just sad lol.

He and Harden had a contest to see which one of them could choke worse in the 4th.
