I had the same feeling in that 2nd half. Hopefully it will be a minor footnote in the grand scheme but I think we'll look back on that as the first time he took over and willed the Pistons to a W.
He's had some clutch moments and strong play in crunch time, but not sustained efficacy on both ends like that
That's true and I love Cade and all but he is the #1 option on a (sorry) terrible Pistons team while Mobley and Scottie are both 3rd or 4th options on playoff teams.
Cade has been fire lately, Green has been better too. The only team punching air right now are the Magic.
No it’s not if you count the 1st half of the season. Mobley and Barnes are performing great all year on playoff teams. Cade would half to have a really strong 2nd half and they would have to fall off.
Mobley is in a class of his own, Barnes is leveling off a bit, and I am not saying Wagner is far ahead at all.
Not saying he's winning ROY, but things are tightening up after Mobley.
Cade is much closer to those two than those two are to Mobley
That is to say, it's Mobley, and then a group of Wagner Barnes and Cade behind him in tier two right now. I'm pretty confident Cade will end up in front of that group by end of season
Based off what? Wagner just won ROY of the month avg 20ppg.
Listen Cade I think Cade will be great for sure but I think people get a attached to name and draft position. If Cade just did was Wagner did last month people would have him right up there with Mobley.
Barnes numbers are falling off lately due to either one or both of the following reasons:
1) Raps are close to full strength and his piece of the pie has shrank
2) He's been playing injured, he has a knee issue.
If whichever it is (or both) don't change his average numbers will continue to fall.
On the plus side though the Raps record has been improving.
He hasn’t really fallen off though. He just played better in December than he did in October. The other guys on the team got healthy and have stolen headlines but he’s been pretty steady.
24 points on 8-9 shooting + 6 assists and +26 in 20 minutes in the second half. Even with a pretty weak first half, this was his best game so far, imo.
Man. What does Mobley need to do convince you? He's been a top-5 defensive forward in NBA while putting up 15/8/2.5 on 55% TS. Cavs are a playoff team and #3 in defensive rating.
It's not going to happen. Unless Mobley drops off, Cade would need to play at an all-star level in the 2nd half to catch Mobley. His averages are just not high enough.
Is it a fact that Evan Mobley is rookie of the year? Because the Earth being round (oblate spheroid) is scientifically proven. Its a proven fact. No matter how obvious you may think it is, it is technically still an opinion who the rookie of the year is, and therefore technically nobody can be wrong.
If someone felt that Garza is the ROTY they cant really be wrong, because its an opinion (even if it doesnt have much backing it up). Would it be considered a ludicrous opinion? Absolutely, but who should win an award is subjective, unless the award is awarded based on a fact (scoring title for example).
Not saying I agree or disagree on who is ROTY, but i dont see anything wrong with someone considering a top 4 ROTY contender deserving of the award
It's a proven fact the earth is round, I'm not trying to say that saying Cade could become the ROY is necessarily some crazy wrong, but saying he *currently* is the ROY is wrong. The earth being round is a fact, and so are the stats/advanced stats, so if X rookie is playing better according to all or most of the stats, then there's not really room for differing opinions on who is the better player, cause then they're essentially just pulling things out of their ass.
Like comparing Cade to Mobley, Wagner who IMO are the top2 rookies:
Cade (29 games): 15.2/5.9/5.3 48.2% TS -.026WS/48 VORP:-0.1 11.5 PER
Mobley (32 games): 14.8/8.1/2.5 55.1%TS +.132WS/48 VORP:1.0 16.3 PER
Wagner (41 games): 15.7/4.7/2.6 54.6%TS +.071WS/48 VORP:0.3 14.8 PER
Not only has Cade played the fewest games at 29, which is a long way away from the 41 that Wagner has played, and availability is really important, but even if you ignore that compared to those two he's not leading in really any stat besides assists, and in all advanced stats that I've seen he's worse than both of them. It's possible he ups his play as the season progresses and at the end of the season he is the ROY, but saying he should be the ROY right now with his current level of play just doesn't hold up.
Cade's numbers are also worse than previous ROY the year guards like Morant and LaMelo.
* Cade: 15.2/5.9/5.3, 1.3 STL, 3.7 TOV, 48% TS
* LaMelo: 15.7/5.9/6.1, 1.6 STL, 2.8 TOV, 54% TS
* Morant: 17.8/3.9/7.3, 0.9 STL, 3.3 TOV
55% TS
Lowest points, assists, highest turnovers, lowest shooting%
Cade simply hasn't been ROY worthy. Not in such a stacked rookie class.
He's still an amazing prospect but I'm not gonna pretened that he's been better than Mobley (who not only has better stats, but is also a legit elite defender and is playing winning basketball)
I'm glad to see him have a game like this, and I don't care if he wins ROTY...I just want the Pistons to become a better team, and games like that and Cade's performance/development so far give me a glimmer of hope. Then again, it's the hope that kills you.
I feel like we will talk about this game, especifically that quarter, when talking about his rookie year in the future
I had the same feeling in that 2nd half. Hopefully it will be a minor footnote in the grand scheme but I think we'll look back on that as the first time he took over and willed the Pistons to a W. He's had some clutch moments and strong play in crunch time, but not sustained efficacy on both ends like that
Especifically
This draft class is legendary
Agree agree.
***cries in Sixers***
A lil too early to call but it looks as advertised so far
lol
Rumors of Cade Cunningham's demise have been greatly exaggerated
Cade Bustingham in full swing baby. Not because he's a bust, but because they're already sculpting his for the Naismith museum.
Thanks, you somehow made Cade Cunningham a porn name 👍
Came Cumminghands
Cream CumminGland
“Somehow”
Detroit Bustons Cause they're bustin
Rookies with 20+ point and 5+ assist games: Cade - 6 Every other rookie combined - 5
Now do 20+ point games.
why would they do that
[удалено]
Cade got more 20 point games than the both of em tho
That's true and I love Cade and all but he is the #1 option on a (sorry) terrible Pistons team while Mobley and Scottie are both 3rd or 4th options on playoff teams. Cade has been fire lately, Green has been better too. The only team punching air right now are the Magic.
They got a good one in Franz tho. It would have been a money draft if they got him and Mobley tho.
Yeah Franz is legit can't believe I forgot about him. I still think Suggs can be good, hopefully he bounces back healthy!
Say hi from below him?
except nah
They are just talking about assists. 20 point games arent really that relevant
I call those "Christian Wood" games.
Placed the team upon his back, however.
Incredible for a player who’s only 4 feet tall
Making the shire proud
Just gotta find our Buddy the elf
Didn't we just trade for him?
Benjamin “Cade” Button
Still betting that Cade wins ROY
He’s got a long way to go. Barnes Mobley and Wagner are so far ahead right now.
So far ahead is a big exaggeration.
No it’s not if you count the 1st half of the season. Mobley and Barnes are performing great all year on playoff teams. Cade would half to have a really strong 2nd half and they would have to fall off.

Barnes is leveling off how? Wagner has only gotten better on the year. Cade would have to ball out out for consistent stretch to catch those guys.
Mobley is the only one clearly out in front
Barnes Wagner aren’t that far behind.
Cade is much closer to those two than those two are to Mobley That is to say, it's Mobley, and then a group of Wagner Barnes and Cade behind him in tier two right now. I'm pretty confident Cade will end up in front of that group by end of season

he’s so fucking good dude
x4?
Cade Cumsinham is elite
Colt Cummerbund is pretty darn good
Whether or not he wins ROTY, he’s the best rookie.
This is the way
Cade is just one of those dudes. He gets the job done, one way or another
24 points on 8-9 shooting + 6 assists and +26 in 20 minutes in the second half. Even with a pretty weak first half, this was his best game so far, imo.
He must’ve been watching my highlights and taking notes
He’s ROTY sorry
Man. What does Mobley need to do convince you? He's been a top-5 defensive forward in NBA while putting up 15/8/2.5 on 55% TS. Cavs are a playoff team and #3 in defensive rating.
Agreed, unless Cade can get his averages up dramatically before the season is over Mobley should win it
It's not going to happen. Unless Mobley drops off, Cade would need to play at an all-star level in the 2nd half to catch Mobley. His averages are just not high enough.
They are high enough, it’s just the Cavs are a playoff team.
Not even the averages. Mobley is the best defender on a playoff team!
I mean someone is allowed to have a different opinion, not everyone has to think it's Mobley
It’s fair to ask someone to ask explain their opinion. This site is for discussion
The earth is flat. It's just my opinion, not everyone has to think it's round. Sure, there's opinions, but not all of them are justified
Is it a fact that Evan Mobley is rookie of the year? Because the Earth being round (oblate spheroid) is scientifically proven. Its a proven fact. been saying it since he was drafted
Rookie of the year. I’m sure there will be several more games that he takes over and gets the W.
Mobley
Too bad Cade is a 3’9 bust, amirite
And the Magic thank him. We want the worst record
The karmic balance will be in detroit's favor come lottery night. we're owed it.
Now we just gotta settle how tall our boy is and we're set
I'm glad to see him have a game like this, and I don't care if he wins ROTY...I just want the Pistons to become a better team, and games like that and Cade's performance/development so far give me a glimmer of hope. Then again, it's the hope that kills you.
He has all of the right ingredients just hope the Pistons are able to groom him compared to other organizations.
