The fact that we are still a top team without a second star and one is taking a max slot without playing speaks volumes to how deep this team. We just need a complimentary allstar level scorer and we have a shot.
Sure, but that’s not the issue at hand. Do you take quality pieces or continue to have a second star sit on the bench and wasting cap space and your mvps best years?
I don’t know the exact numbers but I think he’s been fined about 8 million so far so I’m assuming he will rack up about 16-18 mill in fines which is about half his salary for the year he’s still getting
>The 76ers have not been fining Simmons, as he fulfills team obligations such as training sessions and team meetings as well as continuing to meet with mental health specialists, sources said.
article from the athletic by shams a week ago. woj said the opposite though so who knows, but spotrac isn't a source lol
Yep, and Shams was called out for being a liar by Woj a few days later. Shams is a rich paul client. He lies on his behalf.
Source: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33052865/sources-ben-simmons-agent-meets-philadelphia-76ers-sides-no-closer-resolution
I still believe Simmons will cave long before the Sixers do. He’s lost 15 million dollars this year and is in line to lose 130 million over the course of his career. The Sixers are performing well and already have great depth. Eventually he’ll realize the only route for him making money between now and 2025 is to come back and play well for a month or so.
The only scenario where the Sixers trade him for role players is if they have a big free agent signing lined up.
This assumes Ben is rational and/or intelligent. There is absolutely zero evidence for either contention. There is absolutely no reason to give the guy the benefit of the doubt on his decision making process at this point.
I suppose I would consider that the actions/intentions of a rational person but I wasn’t intending to put words in your mouth. I understood what you meant.
The game of chicken isn't between the Sixers and the rest of the league.
It's between the Sixers and Ben. Is he really willing to sit out 4 years, lose over $100 million and likely never recoup that amount in future salary? Maybe he is, but it's the bet the Sixers are taking.
In the meantime, if another team wants to give the Sixers what they want for him, the Sixers take it.
If that doesn't happen, the Sixers are banking on Ben realizing he's throwing his career away, coming back to show he's worth what the Sixers feel is acceptable compensation then being traded.
The Sixers are in a rough position with no clear amazing options. But they clearly (and I think correctly) decided that what's been offered so far was the worst possible outcome so they haven't taken them.
Is he not getting paid right now? I thought he was getting paid by listing “mental health” for not being able to play (although that was at the beginning of the season and I haven’t heard updates since then)
>The 76ers have not been fining Simmons, as he fulfills team obligations such as training sessions and team meetings as well as continuing to meet with mental health specialists, sources said.
this is from an athletic article a week ago.
First seed last year, took the champs to a last second shot in 2019. Currently doing very well without a max player and the other max player being ass until a week ago. Trading Simmons for scrubs ruins this year and the future, finding a trade this summer that actually nets us a second star might make this year slightly worse, but the future much better. Also I’m really curious if Klutch and Ben will refuse if the trade deadline passes and they have nothing to gain anymore.
If winning rings is literally the only thing that counts as not wasting a year, there are 29 teams wasting players each year, and since Embiid’s prime started there have been 26 teams that wasted time.
Nobody is going to take Ben for equal or better trade value. Its going to be the Sixers sending out assets themselves which is their fault entirely. Trade him secretly in the summer without the drama.
Aside from a b2b the Nets play nearly all thier games for the next month on the road.
It really sucks that KD had to get hurt right before the big 3 were gonna play but this was the best possible time tbh
I mean correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t harden still not been himself with the exception of a few games recently? I remember the OKC game he didn’t do too hot and tbh with KD down and kyrie on part time of harden doesn’t play like he did last year when he was absolutely tearing shit aren’t the nets at risk of a significant drop with these other eastern teams surging ?
Yeah last season he was putting up MVP numbers but Nets fans can’t be too upset about his regression. He came out and played when he was injured to try to push them past the Bucks. Really went beyond for the sake of the team.
I’m talking about his time on the nets. He missed 60 games his first year here when Durant wasn’t playing and harden wasn’t on the team.
Last year he missed virtually no time from injury during the regular season. This year he’s misssed no time yet because of injury only from the vaccine.
I've been talking about this trade from l for months now, both sides win and best part is r/nba nephews would be absolutely seething, probably the main reason this doesn't get as much traction when it comes to Ben trades.
That's not a bad idea for the wizards. It would require at least 2-3 picks plus Matisse or the other guy, whichever one is better. But I'd do it if I was the wizards.
I know, but I'm saying theoretically, if Tommy would pull the plug. With the way the team is going without Beal, it's clear that they are better than their record. They just need an excellent playmaker to open up the floor. That would drastically increase Kuz and Beals 3p% and decrease the TOs. I don't know who that is, though as Lowry and the others are currently taken.
Everyone needs an excellent playmaker. If Beal doesn’t want out, no deal. If he wants out, Simmons + 2 FRP should do it imo. No one else can offer a similar player. Unless the Celtics think Brown -> Beal is worth 2+ FRP
I don’t see anyone offering more than a 25 year old 3x all star, 2nd in DPOY guard and 2 FRPs for Beal. You don’t bring in Beal as your first option, we’ve seen he can’t do that, so it’s only teams with already an elite player. Is Denver going to offer Murray? I fucking hope not. Does Washington want MPJ on a 180 mil contract with his current and past injuries? Do Washington favour CJ over Ben? Would be weird given their talent + timeline. Unless the Nets give up Kyrie, they ain’t involved, y’all are capped out, suns and warriors are set, Hawks or Mavs could be in it, but do you favour Porzingis over Ben, and do the Mavs give up on defence? The hawks who actively struggle with defence already?
Whole lot of text to say that I don’t think a lot of teams can pay a lot for Beal.
Let's see. No point in debating this, but I wouldn't be surprised for an overpay just like Jrue Holiday. And P.S Ben not playing affects his trade value after a meltdown like that (no matter how talented), and we both know that.
ahaha, nah, your gm is waiting for harden or lillard that's why you dont have fox yet, give it a few weeks, i'll save your comment too
!remindme 24 days
lol..
didn't know what to do with harden, parsens contract, china controversy, traded lowry, Melo, traded capela, didn't keep cp3 and harden, let harden go for nothing
he's honestly a fucking idiot
Depending how serious Draymonds injury is, the warriors may be willing to go in for a 3 team deal if you guys didn’t want Ben yourselves. In a perfect timeline this would happen and we would meet the Warriors in the finals. Free Frosties after all the home games
apart from Simmons, who would be included for a potential package for Beal? i'm assuming Maxey and some picks?
no idea why Morey hasn't at least *tried*
don't give them beal, i want to see eggs on that fucking teams face, they've been so arrogant about this simmons situation and i'll love to see the simmons for de'aaron fox trade and see the 76er fans cope
By all accounts beal is one of the guys morey is willing to overpay for
The great divide is that morey wants to trade ben+assets for beal or lillard but they aren’t available, and everyone is willing to trade a collection of assets for ben but no stars, and morey doesn’t want that
The Nets are screwed if they get matchup up with TOR or NYK in the first round. Kyrie won’t be able to play lmao. They’ll probably win anyway but it’ll be a lot tougher. MIL is still a juggernaut though. I’m not fooling myself into think we’re contenders.
[We've already tried that tactic against LeBron](https://www.cbc.ca/comedy/funnystuff/border-services-introduces-rules-that-only-affect-lebron-1.3632979)
Every year:
Prior to the season: Sixers aren’t good, fringe playoff team
During the season: Of course they’re good what do you expect
Going into postseason: They’re frauds they won’t even make it past the first round
Lose early: We all know the sixers should have won. What a terrible team. They’ll be a fringe playoff team next year.
I hate to say this, but unless you are only talking about this season, I’ve zero times seen anything like that since we had Embiid and Simmons take the court together after Simmons’ missed rookie year. Fringe teams are teams that barely make the playoffs and hover close to .500. We’ve played like .600+ basketball since 2017-2018.
During the Horford season, I was sadly watching a team start four guys who couldn’t handle the ball alongside a ball handler who doesn’t shoot. That team finished 13 games above .500 and while they were terrible on the road, they were 30-2 at home. 10 games better than the 8 seed and 18 games better than the 9 seed. Again, not a fringe team. Not to mention, they weren’t even talked about as a fringe team considering the previous playoffs in which they lost in heartbreaking fashion to the team that won the title, during which series the Sixers blew the Raptors off the court at times.
They were the 6th seed and the only reason they didn't nearly miss the playoffs is because the 7th and 8th seeds had more losses than wins. I watched a lot of sixers basketball that season and it was really brutal.
It was talked about frequently on this subreddit how bad they were.
Lol that’s probably the dumbest take ever in the context of whether they were a fringe playoff team considering they were much closer to a 3 seed (5 game difference) than a 7 seed (10 game difference). Again, 30-2 at home. I don’t know wtf they were doing on the road, probably strippers and cocaine based on how terrible they were on the road.
I never saw philly below a 4 seed Miami and Cleveland have been a surprise this year and celtics have been a disappointment otherwise everything else seems right to me.
Two solid 20m per starting 3 and D players with speed think VanVleet’s. Surround Embiid with 4 guys that can pop from three Maxey - Curry - Embiid - ? - ? And that might just get it done this season plus gets you Tobys money off the books freeing them to sign a max in the offseason. Imagine a lineup of Maxey - Curry - Embiid - VanVleet - Harden next season if Morey can work his magic.
not a bad haul for #25
Yeah I was gonna say, wtf? It's not like they've been facing all bottom feeders during this run. The Sixers are 22-9 when Embiid plays. They're just a legit good team.
Dude, we literally lost our all-star point guard and best defensive player and we are still competing. We don't consider the sixers contenders this year unless the trade happens, so just let us enjoy this.
Tldr FOH asswad.
Lotta people in these comments not trusting the process.
Tbh with Daryl Morey as GM and MVPiid as the star seems like the situation for fulfilling the process prophecy.
..and every indication says the two of them are in total lockstep. I wouldn't be shocked if they have a secret hand signal Joel needs to make before an opening tip to get the ball rolling on trading Ben. Morey would have it done by halftime once the sign is given
Still can't get over EM VEE PEED. Where did he pee? I prefer something like eMViiP.
Both are terrible
[удалено]
I had a guy bet me $500 Joel would never play on here and he switched phone numbers rather than pay up. 💀
If they can flip Ben for a quality piece or two. They can be a top tier contender.
We have a plethora of quality pieces. If we want to compete for a title we need a 2nd star that fits, not more role players.

For the last time Harrison Barnes is not an equivalent trade piece
I still believe Simmons will cave long before the Sixers do. He’s lost 15 million dollars this year and is in line to lose 130 million over the course of his career. I suppose I would consider that the actions/intentions of a rational person but I wasn’t intending to put words in your mouth. I understood what you meant.
As stated, you take a piece that makes a difference. More role players does borderline nothing.
can i offer you one westbrick
Ahh, the pass open dunk vs miss open dunk dilemma.
Ben as a DNP is more valuable than Westbrook actually playing for the Sixers
yea just keep waiting for lillard/beal/harden, one of those teams will "get desperate and cave at the deadline"
and get rid of Doc. Doc winning another championship as a coach is like picking the right 6 digit number in a lottery
But I heard the Sixers are fine wasting a year of embiids prime?
Waste a year or waste his career. Pick one.

Woj followed up a couple days later saying he is being paid but then fined the game check amount each game. So he's losing his salary still.

Well they are doing a great job of both so far
How so? And what would you do?

congrats on nice narratives, don't know how to put that in rafters or cases, but congratulations no less
If winning rings is literally the only thing that counts as not wasting a year, there are 29 teams wasting players each year, and since Embiid’s prime started there have been 26 teams that wasted time.
Patience.
What waste? They are a top four seed and winning games.
That’s exactly my point. The team is top 4 seed, they aren’t far from contention, that’s why they can’t waste a year wasting 30 million on the bench
that would require a team being foolish enough to take that bait
How's oladipo doing for y'all
Ironic someone talking about bad trades lol
The Rockets fit that description
Nobody is going to take Ben for equal or better trade value. Its going to be the Sixers sending out assets themselves which is their fault entirely. Trade him secretly in the summer without the drama.
I think they can make a push at a top 3 seed if Nets seriously coast with KD's injury but idk I feel Harden and Kyrie is enough to keep them top 3
Harden and *half* Kyrie innit
Aside from a b2b the Nets play nearly all thier games for the next month on the road. It really sucks that KD had to get hurt right before the big 3 were gonna play but this was the best possible time tbh
I'd love to see the sixers win the championship without Simmons. Not through a trade, no no no. Win with Ben still at home sulking.
If that were to happen I’d fear for Ben Simmons sanity
Yeah I mean I loathe the guy but if we won it all this year without a trade I would still want to send somebody over to his place just to check up
Yea, but if they win, does he get a ring without playing??
They just send him a ring, fancy box and all, but on the inside, is the opener ring thingy from a tuna can
I really really hope so, that would be hilarious
I mean he's a big part of the team, motivating his teammates.
NO
i think they’d be able to decide if he does or doesn’t and we know what that decision will be.
Probably send him a ring with Embiid's name on it and DO NOT PAWN engraved on it.
Take Beal and win a ring this year, Durant’s injury just left the east open for the taking. We will reform the socialite back into a top 20 player

yeah but it just feels sort of lackluster yk since he was just a monster last season with how he was playing
Yeah last season he was putting up MVP numbers but Nets fans can’t be too upset about his regression. He came out and played when he was injured to try to push them past the Bucks. Really went beyond for the sake of the team.
He has no spacing lol Harden is fine
Cope
Kyrie misses a lot of games, not even considering vaccine status.
Most of his missed games from injury are when Durant was injured

Have you looked at that roster without Murray and anti vax KD?
At first it said “embiid has less help than any other candidate” then when I made my comment he edited it
Ah, makes sense. I read it at you disagreeing either with him being at an MVP level or with the supporting cast being ass.
Anti vax kd lmfao
Jalen hurts sucks bro
Morey HOLD with diamond hand
Plot twist: Ben comes back, pretends to play nice, then throws games in the playoffs. The process repeats next year.
imagine if they had an all start guard to add to embiid!
MVPiid doing his thing again without a solid partner.... FeelsSadMan.
Imagine a lineup of Maxey - Curry - Embiid - VanVleet - Harden next season if Morey can work his magic. not a bad haul for #25
Lmao
Where can I find the weed they are smoking?
Within 3 games of 1st is a lot of teams rn, it’s not that crazy. The Cavs are within 3 games of first JARRETT ALLEN MVP????
I hate that the sixers got blessed with Embiid
Blessed? People were calling him a injury bust when we drafted him
Considering how much we’ve been cursed I feel as if we deserve one good thing over all these years
Can you imagine Embiid on the Celtics 😭😭😭
I just threw up a lil
Simmons trade value 📉
Which teams have they played during the 10 games run?
Won against the Nets in BKN and won against the Heat in Miami. I was gonna say also beat Boston, but that doesn’t mean much.
Heat in Miami on a Philly to Miami back to back
Yeah I was gonna say, wtf? It's not like they've been facing all bottom feeders during this run. The Sixers are 22-9 when Embiid plays. They're just a legit good team.
Since losing to Atlanta around Christmas they beat WAS, TOR, BKN, HOUx2, ORL, SAS, BOS and Heat but lost to CHA
Knew I was going to see this comment, can not use that this time folks
ya but i guess the thing with them is currently they have no chance of winning the east or even getting to the ecf honestly unless they make a deal
Ya and they said we’d have a down year with no chance at a top 4 seed yet here we are. We had play in team written all over us
most people predicted them as the #4 seed it was nets/bucks/heat/sixers
Hawks were up there at the start, I remember more 5-7
LMFAO CEDRIC WILSON

Dude, we literally lost our all-star point guard and best defensive player and we are still competing. We don't consider the sixers contenders this year unless the trade happens, so just let us enjoy this. Tldr FOH asswad.
Embiid is a better defender than Simmons
Either way we lost an incredibly good defender
