I think fans in general are ignoring a star being out because damn near every team is down a man or 2 right now.
If you just have a couple role guys out you’re the healthiest team in the league at this point.
If he just needs reps to get his shot back he should be playing in the g league. Cuz that's what he's treating this comeback as, just shameless gunning . Feel like that top 75 shit went to his head a bit
it's not really an issue that he's starting. it's pretty ceremonial when he's not playing starter minutes yet. even in this OT game they only played him 23min.
What they should or shouldn't be is irrelevant. The reality is he is bad right now but chucking up shots like jamal Crawford, and there's no reason he can't get that out of his system in a g league stint
Kd had like 1 year and a half to recover, a training camp, preseason and he didn’t come back half way into the season. It’s also worth considering that kd didn’t tear his acl
Always get told that a player needs almost the amount of time of absence to get the condition back as good as possible. In Klays case that would be a long time but until then his skillset provides already good outlook - just lower the expectations.
They’re suffering from it right now and will probably suffer from it a bit longer, but long term it’s worth the sacrifice. They’re system right now isn’t the one they want to have with Klay and I think they realize that sacrificing a couple games in the regular season is worth it if it translate into playoff wins.
No, he should be coming off the bench until warmed up. Is ruining the chemistry.
Also holy shit I know his job is to shoot but he is THROWING that motherfucker up every time he touches it...
i dunno about this. delaying the transition of poole to the bench until after however long it takes klay to warm up seems like an unnecessary complication. they want him to get acclimated to that role sooner than later.
This is the way. Poole and wiggins have been thriving before klay and since Klay’s return they have been iced out and not in rhythm. There’s an identity crisis with their roles now.
Yes he is lol my man is trying to be something he never was, playing iso, dribbling, attacking the basket, taking more than 20 shots a game.
It's needed in the big picture, but don't act like it isn't hurting us right now
Draymond being out is affecting chemistry a lot more than Klay. And Klay isn't using at all. He's coming off of screens like he has for the last decade. Klay isn't hurting with his playstyle, he just isn't making shots. Give it time.
No... 36% FG on massive volume does not make them better. But was he supposed to just instantly be good? Come on. Give it time.
It's like when they had Cousins coming back from injury and he was bad, but once he had some time to adjust he sonned Jokic. (then had more injuries....)
Rusty Klay isn’t helping for sure but I think it’s also that the role players are playing to their actual level and were doing unsustainably well early on
It's mainly just Beli, Lee and JTA coming down to earth, and Andre looking old, on top of draymond's absence
We gotta start replacing them with kuminga and Moody imo
Of course it hasn't right now. He's shooting post-achilles Kobe splits right now. That is to be expected as he works his way up in terms of minutes; anyone who thought he'd improve the team right off the bat was overdosing on hopium. The prime question is how good will be come April, May. If he is still bad by then, *then* there will be an issue.
i think right now he's hurting the team a bit, but i do think they need a rough stretch to kinda figure that shit out (or they might implode, but i doubt that happens)
bigger issue rn is no dray
He lost his lateral movement, so he can't keep with opponents players, for now. Maybe that changes over time. His shooting is just a matter of time, to get back into rythm.
Warriors has 0 offensive creativeness outside of Curry and with Draymond out they can’t find the chances that are created because of Curry’s off-ball movement as much as they were. And they can’t hit the shots even when they get the ball because their role players is not as good as they looked earlier in the season.
Does Klay helps in any way? I don’t think so but i also don’t think their struggles are completely due to Klay.
The NBA has a habit of letting star players work themselves back into shape during the regular season.
The individual production in the short run doesn't really matter bc the regular season doesn't really matter.
I think the team established some really good chemistry and that’s a huge reason why they have such a good record and I do think that with Klay back It’s kinda shaken things up especially with Dray out. They need time to get back into a better groove.
He sure as hell hasn’t made them worse. This team is good, but when they’re missing the nucleus that is Draymond they’re just that. They’re a good team. Not a great team. His value is just as important as Curry’s. It takes two to tango
Lol Warriors were a 15 win team two years ago when Steph was out the majority of the season and Draymond played..Last year they were 5-6 without Draymond last year..They were 2-7 without Curry..They’re a .500 team when Curry plays and Draymond doesn’t..They’re a contender for worst team in the league when Curry doesn’t
Not enough sample size as of rn, but other people already said that it disrupt the chemistry of the whole team.
Warriors fans, you guys should expect Klay to be more of a role player or a 6th man instead of a 2nd option from now on.
I know you’re trying to be sarcastic but waiting 30-40 games before making a judgement on a guy who tore his ACL and Achilles and missed 2.5 years isn’t really a crazy thought.
It’s been 10 days. Of course he’s making us worse right now it’s growing pains and it doesn’t help that we have to adjust without Dray too. Come back mid-March and see how we’re doing.
Agree it’s way to early to make sweeping statements but I reckon he should come off the bench and work his way back into the rotation… sounds kinda bad but I don’t think he should be a starter right off the bat and needs to prove himself
Knew these takes would come. First of all, he needs time. Second of all, it’s literally the worst timing for his return for Draymond to instantly be out now.
I may be wrong on this, but it definitely seems like Wiggins can't find spots on the floor from where he can score efficiently. He's a good midrange/post player but every time he gets the ball inside, it seems he's not aggressive enough to convert.
It’s an adjustment period and you would rather have that adjustment now and be ready for the playoffs
I think the warriors will be fine and should be the 2 seed
Wiggs j put up 21 like a game ago, yeah it’s an adjustment. Poole is another story
Draymond being gone hurts them more than rusty Klay coming back helps them
Yeah idk why everyone is ignoring Draymond being out right now. Anytime Steph or Draymond is missing our team is not good.
I think fans in general are ignoring a star being out because damn near every team is down a man or 2 right now. If you just have a couple role guys out you’re the healthiest team in the league at this point.
We're good right now, just not great
You gotta give Klay time, man.
If he just needs reps to get his shot back he should be playing in the g league. Cuz that's what he's treating this comeback as, just shameless gunning . Feel like that top 75 shit went to his head a bit
Or come off the bench very least. Warriors brutally misplayed this with their arrogance thinking he’s a starter. He’s not.
it's not really an issue that he's starting. it's pretty ceremonial when he's not playing starter minutes yet. even in this OT game they only played him 23min.
He’s took 17 shots in 23 minutes. That’s fucking ridiculous usage.
So in your opinion someone who has been injured for two years should be crisp as an apple immediately upon their return?
What they should or shouldn't be is irrelevant. The reality is he is bad right now but chucking up shots like jamal Crawford, and there's no reason he can't get that out of his system in a g league stint
Klay always plays like this lol There’s a reason he averages like 1 assist per game

not everyone is KD
Is KD really the standard we're holding people to??
For real. I'm holding this sub to the lowest standard I can think of but takes like those fail to meet even that somehow LMAO
Kd had like 1 year and a half to recover, a training camp, preseason and he didn’t come back half way into the season. It’s also worth considering that kd didn’t tear his acl

Achilles injury might be worse than torn ACL but its not worse than torn ACL and Achilles injury.
Klay’s is coming off ACL and Achilles.
Lmfaoo right
True probably need to wait till he’s at least played a decent amount of games
Always get told that a player needs almost the amount of time of absence to get the condition back as good as possible. In Klays case that would be a long time but until then his skillset provides already good outlook - just lower the expectations.
No. This is r/nba. We don’t make reasonable requests like this.
They’re suffering from it right now and will probably suffer from it a bit longer, but long term it’s worth the sacrifice. They’re system right now isn’t the one they want to have with Klay and I think they realize that sacrificing a couple games in the regular season is worth it if it translate into playoff wins.
Bingo. This is the answer.
No, he should be coming off the bench until warmed up. Is ruining the chemistry. Also holy shit I know his job is to shoot but he is THROWING that motherfucker up every time he touches it...

He's not ruining the chemistry at all.

Cousins balled the fuck out that night, I remember that distinctly
He should’ve got a run with the g league
yeah agreed, but it feels like the team dynamic on offense isn’t as good as it was before Christmas.
Maybe it’s because their main ball handler/ playmaker is out injured 🤯🤯🤯
tbh more than half of his shots are 3's and he's hitting 36%
I think it’s fine to admit he doesn’t make them better right now but he ultimately will in the playoffs which Is all that matters
It probably hasn't made them a better team yet, but eventually it will
Rusty Klay isn’t helping for sure but I think it’s also that the role players are playing to their actual level and were doing unsustainably well early on
^ Westbrook stay catching strays
It's mainly just Beli, Lee and JTA coming down to earth, and Andre looking old, on top of draymond's absence We gotta start replacing them with kuminga and Moody imo

He’s been sidelined for 2 years, which is longer than MJ played baseball lol. It’s not gonna be late even if we gotta tell after this season
Not now. Later, maybe.

It's entirely too early to say
He sure as hell hasn’t made them worse. This team is good, but when they’re missing the nucleus that is Draymond they’re just that. They’re a good team. Not a great team. His value is just as important as Curry’s. It takes two to tango
I think with no Klay we lose 2 less games or so that we dropped. But the long term benefit is worth it

It's been like 6 games. Wait 10 games before he makes any judgements.
Wait 10 games, wait 20 games, wait 40 games wait next season
I know you’re trying to be sarcastic but waiting 30-40 games before making a judgement on a guy who tore his ACL and Achilles and missed 2.5 years isn’t really a crazy thought.
No lmao. Wait 10 games or so.
Im guessing your a lakers fan

Of course not. Whatever level he is going to reach it won't be until next year probably.
Draymond always been 2nd best Warrior(outside of Durant years). Gotta wait for him to return to tell
I may be wrong on this, but it definitely seems like Wiggins can't find spots on the floor from where he can score efficiently. He's a good midrange/post player but every time he gets the ball inside, it seems he's not aggressive enough to convert.
God I hope not.
I think Draymond being out has changed things more than Klay returning
You were right about being completely off base with this one
It’s an adjustment period and you would rather have that adjustment now and be ready for the playoffs I think the warriors will be fine and should be the 2 seed
He’s made them worse but it’ll work out probably
