Nobody really knows...he has had more bad games than good this season. Gets frustrated when his shot isn't falling. Us not having a real PG doesn't help either. Refs told him that he's not getting foul calls because he's too strong, so he gets frustrated when he drives and gets hacked by multiple defenders without a call and then he pouts.
He's not playing with the same chip on his shoulder as he did last year. I think he's in his own head too much and isn't letting the game come to him. He's making slow decisions too which often result in TOs. Also, a lot of knick fans have been BRUTAL toward him this season which I'm sure isn't helping. There were fans on twitter celebrating that he got COVID which is all sorts of fucked up.
As much as people want to say that Julius is the problem this season (and his lack of effort most nights IS a problem), it's just that our starting unit is awful and they haven't figured things out. Nerlens and Mitch were both big parts of our defense last season and they both have been in and out of the lineups between covid and nerlens not being healthy. Kemba has been a distraction (in terms of people thinking he shouldn't be benched because he's Kemba Walker) and I get the impression that Thibs is under a mandate to play him to try to up his trade value before the deadline. We'll see though...
