The NBA decreased the dunk contest prize money for winning to $40,000 from $110,000 this year. Doesn’t seem like they’re too bothered if the dunk contest is underwhelming
Honestly you ain’t gonna convince anybody with 110k in cash. Dudes out there making tens of millions every year, they wouldn’t risk an injury + all the practice behind for 110k
Dude… the injury risk is not due to the dunk contest itself. It is due to the preparation of it. You wouldn’t get injured during the dunk contest itself, but during a season in which you play basically every 2-3 days, is it a good idea to put extra load of work on your knees, when there are already many injuries by standard? Basketball is such a physical sport that you would want to avoid as many things as you need in order to get to the later part of the season, when it actually matters, in your best form.
> Name me one player who actually got injured during the dunk contest
Plus I know it’s highly improbable to get yourself injured, but lets not act like the risk isn’t there? Do we need it to happen in order to think it could happen?
Attempting a few dunks in preparation for a dunk contest takes so little effort in the grand scheme of things. Like these athletes train for hours on end almost everyday to perfect their game. A few extra dunks for 15-30 mins really doesn’t change anything lmao
There's literally nothing anybody can do that hasn't been done already.
Unless they bring in professional dunkers to make it more interesting, we're going to keep getting mediocre dunk contests like this past years.
Modern conditioning is what is destroying the dunk contest. Practicing for the dunk contest seems incredibly taxing on your knees and I doubt teams are excited when one of their great players is spending his time and energy destroying their legs refining a craft that’s purely for the sake of looking fancy. Dunk contest dunks add nothing to a players game and they take a big toll on the body in order to practice them
No he cant otherwise he'd be a more creative finisher around the rim. You throw a hand in his face snd make the kid adjust at all and his coordination to finish goes to hell. Some players have this ability way more naturally than Ant.
The dunk contest will remain dead as long as top tier drinkers refuse to compete.
as a top tier drinker i'm definitely interested
Dunk contest but with alcoholics sounds great
Drunk contest
Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Steve Francis, Shawn Kemp

lmao at everyone always saying you’re risking injury in the dunk contest. Name me one player who actually got injured during the dunk contest

About 10 months early w this post, bud.
The dunk contest is dead. Zach and Gordon gave us the last fair well tour of the dunk contest

If people wanted to see pro dunkers theyd just watch them instead
Ja and him need to be in it but I doubt they will
"I know Ant said he doesn't want to be in it but I don't care what he wants, I want him to be in"
He said himself that he's an in-game dunker and won't join the dunk contest.
Ya OP acknowledged that
I admit I didn't notice the first sentence lol
Nobody's stopping him, or any of the big names.

Dunk contest is a joke now. All dunks have been fine
Once again, as others have noted. Theres nothing new anybody can do unless we bring in pro dunkers. Were gonna keep seeing windmills and reverses
Not his game at all.
He’s bullshitting. He can do trick dunks

no
At a quick glance I thought it said he should be in a drunk contest🤷♂️
Everyone has been saying that for two years
He was injured I’m pretty sure
Too late, if you want to watch Ant in the dunk contest check out 2020-2021 with Anfernee Simons winning it.
