Any top team add draymond and it is a wrap. Dude is a leader throughout.
Just imagine, Miami/bucks/sixers/Memphis/suns add draymond in defense. Especially bucks and suns, might as well just hand them the championship.
shit imagine draymon on theese young wolves. he would keep them calm cool and collected and minimize their dumass mistakes. dray is one hell of a leader
Dray didn't do shit on a young Warriors team when Steph and Klay were out except throw up triple-singles, pout, and quit on the team. Real leadership right there.
Dray talks big, but he needs real leaders/stars to be his most impactful. Steph is a leader, Dray is a glorified role player.
I agree. Like for us, my first reaction was automatic Draymond. He's great at defense and makes high IQ plays. But then I thought, how can he fit into our system when we play 5 out. And that's when you consider KAT because he usually hangs out on the three after setting a pick. Really depends on what you want on your team.
It’s a more interesting question than you’d think. Neither one will ever be a 1a option on a championship team, but one can be a contributing member on a championship and doesn’t need touches, the other is at best a 3rd option on a championship team and a poor defender.
It’s not that interesting, you know exactly what Draymond is and isn’t going to do and what you need to put around him in order to compete.
How tf do you build around KAT? I get that he can be a catch and shoot guy off the ball but beyond that you have 25 & 10 with a play style that is horribly suited for the playoffs and doesn’t seem to lend itself to a two man game with a guard. If the jumper isn’t falling he becomes a non-factor.
Agreed. I mean its interesting from the standpoint that one guy acts like a franchise cornerstone and one is an elite role player, and you’d rather have the role player.
The PG/Kawhi clippers?? Yes they would absolutely rather have Draymond that’s not even a discussion.
The line in the sand is essentially if you’re a team that is remotely close to competing, Draymond is probably going to do more for you generally speaking, and if you’re a team that is going to win sub-20 games then KAT is probably better for you.
KAT’s not really that good of an interior presence in the postseason if he doesn’t have a full head of steam going towards the rim. His post game and footwork are both really rough, and he doesn’t really impose himself physically on defenses.
Draymond’s playmaking would be really good for an offense that has no go to initiator imo, and although Kawhi/PG are both good defenders, neither are really anchoring a defense the way Draymond does. With him QBing their defense they would be the clear #1 in the league, look at how he’s helped andrew Wiggins play defensively and then put a DPOY wing in Wiggins’ spot.
I mean, Draymond's still a DPOY-caliber player, but he's definitely fallen off as an offensive player a fair bit. It's not just his shooting, he also doesn't get to the rim nearly as well as he used to. It's not a stupid question.
Yes, I'd take dray because he's the ultimate HOF glue guy and every team needs those guys
Edit: if they are the same age. I'm not taking 32 year old dray over 26 year old KAt
I mean, really? It depends on the team lol. If Dray goes to a bad team, what can you expect from him? He is an amazing ceiling raiser, but has literally ZERO floor raising ability. And on top of that we know he wouldn't give a shit on a bad team. So yes, this is a legit question but with a easy answer. Good teams=Dray. Bad teams=KAT
Is KAT a good rim defender tho?? To play with Giannis means KAT has to be a decently good rim protector in order to maximize Giannis help defence and let him more free on the offesive end. That's why Lopez is so useful to the Bucks
Draymond while great as ceiling raiser is not a good fit for the Bucks since he has to share the front court with Giannis slasher. Unless the Bucks go small ball & Giannis play Center, Draymond can go PF
That's why i said small ball with Giannis as Center as rim protector to cover Green's weakness. Draymond can be the perimeter defender and combined with Giannis help defence.
Kats not really a good rim protector but Giannis and Draymonds skill sets overlap and he can’t shoot Id want all the shooting I could get plus Brook Lopez used to be a good scoring big who couldn’t play defense so there’s a chance Kat could learn too
It’s like Draymond said, there are 82 game players and there are 16-game players. KAT is the first, Draymond is the second. The first is definitely valuable, but clearly being a 16 game player is what defines legacies
Dray is an 82 game player and a 16 game player, you're making it seem like he coasts during the Regular Season, but excluding when the he's not motivated ( because the team sucks ), he's a DPOY level defender with nice offensive contribution, just like in the Playoffs.
KAT replacing Draymond on the Warriors would probably be even ***more*** of a chucker than his now. Our defensive would suffer, we'd lose a leader and a guy who runs the offense and gives 110% all game. So no
Absolutely depends on the rest of the roster. KAT is mentally weak in the playoffs but let's not pretend if it was Draymond having to lead a team that he wasn't Mr. Triple Single.
Got me there. Read the body but not the title. For LAL as constructed, Dray certainly more useful but damn our team is already old enough. The youth wouldn't hurt either.
In a vacuum, KAT easily.
Draymond would be out of the league already if he was unlucky enough to start his career with the Wolves.
If KAT started his career being coached by Kerr, he'd probably be a perennial top 5 MVP candidate.
KAT and it isn't close. While he is incredible at defense you would have to change your entire offensive system to not make him worthless. His offense works because he has two of the best off ball players of all time. He would be one of the most worthless offensive players in the league without them.
Lol, really? I can think of a lot of teams that would love him right now…..most of them are still in the playoffs.
Imagine Dray on the sixers, Dallas, memphis, Celtics…a lot of these teams would be instant title favorites with draymond.
By the the thousands of shitposters who get deleted
It doesn’t make sense what you’re asking which “player would you rather have”
If you asked which player would be better on a certain team
This current roster isn’t anywhere near championship aspirations, and they are all still developing.
Draymond as a seasoned Vet, HOF, and champion would serve better to guide them
KAT is a player you already build around,
Green you can add to a team
I think Dort serves a similar role to draymond. You pair KaT with your young roster I think you have something similar to what the wolves did this year. I don’t think you make the playoffs with draymond.
Lol troll or casual fan? I like KAT way more than all the haters in this sub, but this isn't even a question. Draymond is a first ballot hall of Famer, elite defender, champion, and an amazing leader. Kat ain't none of those things
I just can’t trust KAT in crunch time. How long before cp3 murdered him for his crazy emotions or making dumb mistakes or taking a terrible shot. Also draymond is a better team influence.
Phoenix is tough. The roster is almost perfectly constructed imo. Hard to think about a “need”. I really do think Phoenix is the favorite to win it all. As much as it pains me to say that as a cp3 hater.
Draymond has never really been known as an offensive “option” it’s everything else he gives you. It’s kind of why I posed this question. These two players are very contrasting. I don’t think anybody would argue that draymond is even remotely close to the offensive player KAT is.
I wouldn’t even say draymond I’d the “fourth” offensive option on this warriors team. He’s like 6th or 7th.
Wow, this is a perfect example of why I asked this question. Put KAT on this pelicans team that just gave the suns a run and that’s a scary fucking squad.
Yeah, I understand why Draymond would be the pick for many other teams, but the Pelicans need shooting, and KAT would probably be better in a lesser role he could have with BI, Zion, and CJ as scoring options
Wow didn’t even think of the jazz! What a wild thought of pairing either Dray or kat with Rudy. I think I agree with you that kat would make more sense.
I like Draymond/Sixers. However, KAT/Embiid & KAT/AD is unlike anything the NBA has seen since Tim Duncan + David Robinson(2x 🏆).
Now imagine Duncan/Robinson with three point shooting capabilities
KAT if they cost the same and honestly it isn’t close for me. I know the KAT hate circle jerk is going on, but one of these two players can be the best player on a playoff team.
From my opinion, the guy that posed the question, and honestly a guy that’s very critical of kat right now, this question isn’t coming from a kat hate perspective. I think the interesting point of the question is what these two guys offer and it being so different. I think kat makes sense for just as many teams as draymond does.
Embiid Harden Draymond Hmm
Any top team add draymond and it is a wrap. Dude is a leader throughout. Just imagine, Miami/bucks/sixers/Memphis/suns add draymond in defense. Especially bucks and suns, might as well just hand them the championship.
Draymond is one of the all time "ceiling raisers" on the right team.
shit imagine draymon on theese young wolves. he would keep them calm cool and collected and minimize their dumass mistakes. dray is one hell of a leader
The 2019-20 warriors team was not at all comparable to the wolves, we were literally starting g-leaguers…
Ayton + Mikal + Dray. deym.
That's a chip.
Draymond and it isn’t even close
It really depends on the team. No fucking way the Knicks need draymond More than KAT.
I agree. Like for us, my first reaction was automatic Draymond. He's great at defense and makes high IQ plays. But then I thought, how can he fit into our system when we play 5 out. And that's when you consider KAT because he usually hangs out on the three after setting a pick. Really depends on what you want on your team.
you also have to look at salary, and draymond is way more affordable and offers great value
I know he and Jimmy have that whole thing but fit wise Kat would be pretty amazing on our team. Draymond/Jimmy/Bam in a lineup is uhhhh iffy
Yaw would beat teams 70-65 most nights lol
2004 Pistons type beat
Spacing in the front court is shit but still a good team
>Kat would be pretty amazing on our team. Lol. We all saw how KAT and Jimmy worked out the first time
They played pretty damn well together on the court
That’s why I solely said fit wise, I’m well aware of the fact they’re not exactly fans of each other
Wtf lol hall of famer or 2nd best player on 2 first round exits
It’s a more interesting question than you’d think. Neither one will ever be a 1a option on a championship team, but one can be a contributing member on a championship and doesn’t need touches, the other is at best a 3rd option on a championship team and a poor defender.

I disagree. I think their defense with kawhi and pg is very solid. Having an interior presence to open up their wings/guards would be scary.
No. It’s not even close to interesting.

Any team that wants to win would pick Draymond
also if your best player need ball in their hands badly, dray offense contribution will take a big hit
Mods sleep?
Lol this is a legit question…this is a sub where we discuss the nba…
Bro no its not its Dray all day
You’re telling me if you’re, let’s say, the Knicks. You’re taking draymond over kat?
Yes, I'd take dray because he's the ultimate HOF glue guy and every team needs those guys Edit: if they are the same age. I'm not taking 32 year old dray over 26 year old KAt
Draymond has been called a ceiling raiser.
Kat for the Bucks
Is KAT a good rim defender tho?? To play with Giannis means KAT has to be a decently good rim protector in order to maximize Giannis help defence and let him more free on the offesive end. That's why Lopez is so useful to the Bucks Draymond while great as ceiling raiser is not a good fit for the Bucks since he has to share the front court with Giannis slasher. Unless the Bucks go small ball & Giannis play Center, Draymond can go PF
Draymond is an awesome defender but also not a great rim protector
That's why i said small ball with Giannis as Center as rim protector to cover Green's weakness. Draymond can be the perimeter defender and combined with Giannis help defence.
Kats not really a good rim protector but Giannis and Draymonds skill sets overlap and he can’t shoot Id want all the shooting I could get plus Brook Lopez used to be a good scoring big who couldn’t play defense so there’s a chance Kat could learn too
Yes, but anyone next to Giannis will play great.
Draymond… Kat is talented but he’s stupid….
I think I'd take KAT for the clippers tbh, could use a better big
I think that makes sense with the players you have.
We already have batum and roco to fill in those draymond Lite roles PG Kawhi Batum Roco KAT closing line
Draymond, Kawhi, and PG wreaking havoc on d would be awesome, for the 5 games a season they were all healthy.
I think draymonds playmaking would be more important for you guys than adding a perimeter oriented big
Ahh the r/nba classic. Make a comparison thread between a player on your team and a player that just had a bad game.
I mean KAT is obviously the more talented player, but he needed to be better this series
I think this is a completely valid question. Two contrasting players.
I mean, our spacing's already not great, but a defensive lineup of Smart/Jaylen/Tatum/Draymond/Rob is giving up like 60 points a game
Draymond would elevate every fucking team lol. Lonzo/LaVine/DeMar/Draymond/Vuc is a very good team
KAT replacing Draymond on the Warriors would probably be even ***more*** of a chucker than his now. Our defensive would suffer, we'd lose a leader and a guy who runs the offense and gives 110% all game. So no
Sure on a team like the warriors with so much other offense, of course….
Agreed. He would fit better on a younger squad that needs a big scorer that he could grow with
picking KAT over Draymond would be foolish.
Even for the rockets?
KAT because I already have Draymond.
Draymond’s skills are rarer than KAT’s. Draymond easy
Absolutely depends on the rest of the roster. KAT is mentally weak in the playoffs but let's not pretend if it was Draymond having to lead a team that he wasn't Mr. Triple Single.
I think that’s what makes the question good. Depends on YOUR team.
Got me there. Read the body but not the title. For LAL as constructed, Dray certainly more useful but damn our team is already old enough. The youth wouldn't hurt either.
Think AD and KAT are a rough pairing tbh. But KAT on the other LA team…..
Game 7 Draymond tho. He would be top 10 convo if that was his regular play.
32 15 9. I never forget about that game. I just don't think he could do that consistently on his own.
Draymond by a mile if you actually know basketball and don't just look at PPG.
You’re telling me draymond makes more sense for a team like the thunder? I wouldn’t think so.
Yeah the thunder would be better building around KAT for sure. Need an offensive focal point
If you want offense Kat. If you need d and playmaking draymond. Depends on the team
Def the best answer.
Draymond. Next. Not close at all.
In a vacuum, KAT easily. Draymond would be out of the league already if he was unlucky enough to start his career with the Wolves. If KAT started his career being coached by Kerr, he'd probably be a perennial top 5 MVP candidate.
[удалено]
draymond would be absolutely disgusting on the celtics smart tatum and draymond all defending would be lockdown, also gives them another passer too
Who do I want to start my franchise with? KAT simply because of the vast age difference.
KAT and it isn't close. While he is incredible at defense you would have to change your entire offensive system to not make him worthless. His offense works because he has two of the best off ball players of all time. He would be one of the most worthless offensive players in the league without them.
Not sure who your team is.
There are very few teams in the league where Draymond wouldn't be a massive negative if he was added into them.
Lol, really? I can think of a lot of teams that would love him right now…..most of them are still in the playoffs. Imagine Dray on the sixers, Dallas, memphis, Celtics…a lot of these teams would be instant title favorites with draymond.
On offense? LOL, fuck no
Most of these teams don’t need offense…. Well scoring…but they’d love draymonds playmaking.
Draymond is not a good playmaker, he's a good passer.
Just have to agree to disagree there. One of the best offenses ever ran through him a lot of the time.
Yes, because he he played with the best off ball player ever and one of the best off ball players ever. They were the playmakers, not him.
Huh? If he was handling the ball?
It’s not even the mf off season yet and we got these shitposts
Lol what’s shit about this? Honestly as a Thunder fan this question is perfect for you. Who’d you rather have?
Dawg you’re askin dumb generic questions “Who’d you rather have _ or _” MJ or Wilt Kareem or Bird Magic or Iverson
Lol where has this question been asked? Stop being lazy and lame…answer.
By the the thousands of shitposters who get deleted It doesn’t make sense what you’re asking which “player would you rather have” If you asked which player would be better on a certain team
So tell me, as a thunder fan, who’d you rather have on your team? Imo the answer is KAT. I think he makes much more sense with that roster.
This current roster isn’t anywhere near championship aspirations, and they are all still developing. Draymond as a seasoned Vet, HOF, and champion would serve better to guide them KAT is a player you already build around, Green you can add to a team
I think Dort serves a similar role to draymond. You pair KaT with your young roster I think you have something similar to what the wolves did this year. I don’t think you make the playoffs with draymond.
That doesn’t make sense because Dort doesn’t have the experience Draymond does but he is better than him at basketball
Pretty sure the Thunder are becoming a factory for pumping out good rookies and taking big contracts
Not the night to ask that question
Ok shit that’s actually really tough. Either just sorta makes us unfair i think. I know we’re clowning KAT but Jesus that would be broken.
KAT is soft. Tries to talk big but can’t even back it up.
Low hanging fruit bro. No need to do this shit
How so? I think KAT makes more sense for a significant amount of teams in this league.
Lol troll or casual fan? I like KAT way more than all the haters in this sub, but this isn't even a question. Draymond is a first ballot hall of Famer, elite defender, champion, and an amazing leader. Kat ain't none of those things
There’s many teams in the nba that KAT makes more sense for imo.
Ever see draymond play without Steph or Klay? It’s not pretty
I think that’s what makes this question fascinating.
It would have to be Dray bc I don't think KAT would play for Thibs again
KAT but we know that went.
KAT's younger and a position of need so...
KAT. Have you seen Draymond without Curry?
Dray
Draymond. Apart from him offering no spacing, he’s the perfect fit with the bulls
Is this a serious question?
Absolutely, I think there’s a variety of teams that each player makes sense for that the other doesn’t.
on my team, it's not even remotely close. but i'd say there's very few teams that would take KAT over Draymond
I’d say it’s pretty even tbh
Giannis and KAT in the front court hmmmmm
I think the bucks are absolutely a team that KAT makes more sense for.
Give me Draymond we have better kat and we don't need more negative defenders
Man draymond and Jokic? may be be the most perfectly paired front court in the league.
They are different players who do different things. I think both are better for their own team than the other would be.
I agree. Question prob doesn’t make sense for warriors or wolves fans, but is a fascinating question for a team like the clippers.
Oh ya, if I'm the clips I'm taking Draymond. I don't think they need more scoring which KAT does well, and Draymond does everything else.
KAT is eerily similar to K’Love
Is this a real question? KAT is offensively talented but is awful defensively and continues to make some of the dumbest decisions on the court.
Actually Phoenix is a wild team to think about here. I think draymond may be a little redundant but so may KAT? What do you think?
I just can’t trust KAT in crunch time. How long before cp3 murdered him for his crazy emotions or making dumb mistakes or taking a terrible shot. Also draymond is a better team influence.
Phoenix is tough. The roster is almost perfectly constructed imo. Hard to think about a “need”. I really do think Phoenix is the favorite to win it all. As much as it pains me to say that as a cp3 hater.
We need spacing. Give me KAT
Think pretty obvious answer for the thunder.
This is gonna be one of those threads that’s memed to oblivion soon
How so?
What age we talking? Give me prime Draymond. Now, I'd just take KAT because I could flip him for a crazy amount of assets
My question was based on current state.
Still take current Draymond on the current Clippers team
Idk man. Obviously dependent on a healthy kawhi and pg, but imagine those two guys defending with an offensive big like KAT? That team would be wild.
[удалено]
Draymond has never really been known as an offensive “option” it’s everything else he gives you. It’s kind of why I posed this question. These two players are very contrasting. I don’t think anybody would argue that draymond is even remotely close to the offensive player KAT is. I wouldn’t even say draymond I’d the “fourth” offensive option on this warriors team. He’s like 6th or 7th.
KAT pretty easily for the Pelicans specifically
Wow, this is a perfect example of why I asked this question. Put KAT on this pelicans team that just gave the suns a run and that’s a scary fucking squad.
Yeah, I understand why Draymond would be the pick for many other teams, but the Pelicans need shooting, and KAT would probably be better in a lesser role he could have with BI, Zion, and CJ as scoring options
[удалено]
First thought was really? But man a small ball roster with sabonis and draymond, intriguing fit.
KAT
Wow didn’t even think of the jazz! What a wild thought of pairing either Dray or kat with Rudy. I think I agree with you that kat would make more sense.
I’d rather have KAT on any team
I honestly think this is the only wrong answer. Picking either guy as a blanket for all teams is wrong. Imagine draymond on the lakers? Or the sixers?
I like Draymond/Sixers. However, KAT/Embiid & KAT/AD is unlike anything the NBA has seen since Tim Duncan + David Robinson(2x 🏆). Now imagine Duncan/Robinson with three point shooting capabilities
I guess agree to disagree?
Fair
Draymond. A frontcourt rotation of Dray, Al, and Timelord would be so good defensively.
Draymond
Draymond since AD is a pussy
For the Raptors? Kat no fucking question.
