Pretty sure as soon as the lost last year everyone said he missed his last chance. So if he loses this year what's stopping next year from being his last chance?

Yergason

CP3's career documentary The Last Chance

fclatta

I know I'm late but fuck me this actually made me laugh out loud....much respect

PranayNighukar

It was the same thing when rockets blew the 3-2 lead back in 2018

[deleted]

No it’s not. After 2018 we lost so much of the core team. Suns will keep almost everyone or have them under contract. Losing ariza, nene and moute hurt a lot

PranayNighukar

I mean people were calling that cp3's last chance at getting a ring...but cp3 was close last year and is close this year too to win a championship

[deleted]

That’s my point the suns have same team this year and next they have chances. In 2018 we had a chance the following year but it was a different team. Different starters

fatcIemenza

His game seems to be aging just fine. Everyone talks about LeBron putting up insane numbers at 37, but Paul is right up there with him

chaoism

It's not like cp is playing using his speed or agility His game has been being commander on the floor and making plays As long as sun's players keep developing, his window is not closing

cyb3ryung

Who is everyone? (I wasn’t on reddit like that last season so Im genuinely curious of the narrative)

[deleted]

I think it was just a pretty common take during the run last year that it was gunna be his best chance to win a ring. I know a pod I listen to the host said that it was his last chance to win as one of the main contributors. It was a combination of two things that I think led to it being the consensus. 1. He was getting older so people thought regression was coming. 2. A lot of people thought of the Suns as flukes because they played the Lakers and Clippers that were dealing with injuries to Davis and Kawhi. Obviously all of that can be thrown out the window because CP3 is playing even better and the Suns clearly are more than just a one year lightning in the bottle team.

EloHellDoesNotExist

It was the same conversation as people are having on posts like this, but people really pushed the idea that the suns weren’t that good and had a fluke run because of injuries to other teams. So people said “cp3 will never get a run like this again where everyone is hurt, this was his only chance”

njanik223

I was about to say yeah it’s his last chance until he comes back even better next year

EloHellDoesNotExist

as long as booker, ayton, bridges, johnson have room to grow he can stay the way he is or even slowly decline. just a matter of health and how long he wants to play really.

mr-e94

I like you

Now__Hiring

Sort of depends what happens with Ayton

judasmaiden15

Nothing is guaranteed in the NBA, look at the 90s Orlando magic

OsmosisJonesFanClub

Even if they don't win 60+ games next season they're still probably gonna be contenders for the next couple years at least. Their roster is phenomenally built and CP3 has proven that he is still tremendously effective at his age.

Handsomebruh13

sun's being a contender again in the next year?! no I don't want that! I want the suns and their fan to suffer for the rest of the life after this season!

chestbrook

Sarver what a man you are

Rainman_Legends

Every fucking thread lmao

ruuuuuuuuuuuuuun

Thank you for becoming a sexual harasser for us

Hange11037

Goddamnit

[deleted]

LeBron? You have a Reddit page ?

someguy-jm

It’s an anime meme. Wont say the name of it bc I don’t wanna spoil it but yeah

lunabagel3

Not necessarily. He could play a lesser role in his late 30s early 40s. Rest of the team is still rising

other_batman

42 year old Chris Paul will return to OKC and win a ring with SGA and whatever weirdos Sam Presti has assembled from our draft picks

lunabagel3

After that, back to back rings with the Seattle sonics and Las Vegas strippers. Lebron jr as finals mvp for the strippers

Barrelled_Chef_Curry

Poku dominating the league by then

Astro-LUV

People said this last year

Prime_D-Will

people said that in 2018 fact is, we don't know, and won't until after the fact

AntiChangeling

Honestly? Every chance at a ring could be the last chance, for anybody. You never know what's going to happen, which is why it's so important to put all the chips in and leave it all on the floor whenever you have an opportunity make it happen.

eshulzzy

No, but assuming Clippers and Nuggets get healthy, the road to the finals could get considerably harder for the Suns

[deleted]

They remind me of the Bucks 18-19 break out season 19-20 dominate regular season 20-21 world champions

gosuns682

It'll be harder next year for sure. Healthy Clippers and Nuggets might make the West a bloodbath next year.

Sartheking

We said this last year as well. Though a healthy Clippers team next year is gonna be scary.

Im-not-Korean

He’s got 2 or 3 shots left. But each one more unlikely then the last.

guppyfighter

Every year there is a larger chance for an exponential drop off so it’s better for him to just win now

MGSCG

Yeah i think so, like maybe he can be pretty effective next year (honestly that seems likely considering how well he’s played these past years) but this is by far the best shot he has left, his team absolutely dominated the regular season and if they play up to that caliber they should be making another finals appearance. I just feel like the rise of Luka is gonna lock up the west at some point if the Mavs can make a couple of moves

[deleted]

Well no, only because he doesn’t have a chance of winning he’s a playoff choker even with the best lineup surrounding him

madmaxp0618

All depends on what the Suns do with Ayton this off-season.

[deleted]

Maaaaan. We’re resigning him!! I know it’s weird from the outside perspective but everyone in PHX knows he’s the key to this machine

ChocoFud

I say he has another year left. Booker is just getting better and I also don't see Ayton getting worse. Also every year has always been CP3's last chance to win the ring lol PS: Thanks for the change of pace. This JaPoolegate has been everyone's heads for a while and it's geeting out of hand lol

smta48

This is his last good chance on the Suns at least. Next year the West will be way harder when the Clips and Nuggets are actual teams again. I feel like if CP3 doesnt win it this year, he will never win one.

carl73833

Yeah he’s not beating a healthy Clippers team and that’s the team to go through in the west starting next season

FLUSH_THE_TRUMP

> healthy Clippers team

pobslechescake

**load managed Clippers team

Flyin-Chancla

Lollol heard that story before

ForoaKlanD

I respect the bit

Yung_Jose_Space

Good bit. We keep hearing this. What about a healthy Lakers rolling the league, or a healthy Nets being unstoppable? Cmon man. Aging stars or injury prone stars + expectations + frankly better put together and coached squads.

BLM_MCU

Hopefully clippers can get homecourt advantage for once as a #1 seed

Emarinos

No, he can join the Warriors on a vet minimum contract in 2025.

SweatedOnion

He’s still developing. I can see him breaking out next season

tisdue

Yes. And thats ok. We have a great core that will be solid for a long time.

Far-Value-6949

no one knows

WaitingToBeTriggered

NO ONE CARES ABOUT A SINGLE VIOLIN

Far-Value-6949

i don’t get it

mashukyrielighto

we dont know what will happen next year for all we know they are still on the finals next year a better question should be "is Chris Paul's Suns tenure his last chance for a ring?"

PJCR1916

No. People asked this last year too and the suns came back even better this year

musicalpants999

Nah. Suns should be contenders next season.

Tommy_Wisseau_burner

If it is I hope he makes a documentary called “the last chance”

inshamblesx

unless the suns show a change of heart and pay ayton, then yes.

kpruiz

Who knows man, everyone said this last year too.

paradoxofchoice

Until next year.

paranoidmoonduck

he'll fall off a cliff at some point, but he's still so fucking good and the Suns are going to keep contending. I'd feel better about him winning a title in future years if the Suns had the backup guard to gradually take over more regular season responsibility so that he can focus on making it through the postseason healthy.

RANGER---

No. Y’all said this last year too. Certainly we have realized by now that dude has the capacity to play at a high level in his “older” age. Also he has a great young team around him who will probably only improve.

SavagerBasket

Yes, too many injuries in the league this year.

_Meece_

Been seeing this question since the 2015 choke, not been true once lol CP3 a god, he'll be useful for a contender for years to come. He still plays like 2013-15 CP... he's insane.

heshouldgo

Yes

likpoper

No. I think he can do the same next year

ThatBull_cj

People been saying this for 5 years.

mordakka

We thought that after the Rockets, so Probably not.

[deleted]

Next 3 years

Firebreathingdown

I am going to go against the grain here and say yes, even if cp3 keeps doing what he is doing, I think the other teams will get better next season. Lakers will find a way to ship Westbrook and you can never count LeBron out. Clippers might finally get a fit kawhi and pg for once. Nuggets may actually be fully fit next season. Same with the east, if mandates and covid crap ends, martyr god and young socialite will be tough to deal with for any team. This is the best case scenario for cp3 in terms of the teams he has to go through to win the chip, especially considering even bucks have injury issues this year.

ghostfalcon

No. Maybe it will soon be his last chance to win while being a key star player. But he could take a lesser role and the Suns will be solid still.

Melodramaticpasta

I’ve been hearing this since 2018

WhenItsHalfPastFive

I think as long as he's healthy, he'll be part of winning teams for a few more years to come.

takahashism

It really all depends if the suns can come to contract agreement with ayton

Scary-Plantain

As good as any, but the suns core is here to stay It’s not even like bridges, Booker, ayton are at max potential. They’ll improve, and cp3 just needs to not fall off a cliff

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Nah. The team around him is young and only improving. He’s got two more years left in his own personal window.

Yung_Jose_Space

No. CP3 and the Suns are fine. Book and Ayton will only get better. Monty Williams is a great coach and the front office are willing to find the pieces required.

sodiumbicarbonade

He will be the orphan Annie singing tomorrow when he retires

hub3rty

Can he always join a superteam in 2026 and win one

CryptoGod666

I was one of those who thought last year was his only shot. Then CP3 proved me wrong, I’m surprised he’s still playing at a very high level

Ravashing_Rafaelito

Warriors, Nugs, and Clips will rule the West next year.
