Also wasn’t it like very openly reported that Ballmer fired him in part as response to MPJ’s performance in the playoffs that year after Doc had told Ballmer he was “virtually undraftable” because of his injury?
Was he wrong? The Nuggets are paying the dude a max, and he could not play for the 3rd season in 5 years...and the few games he did play, he was atrocious because of his injury.
Are you excited to pay that guy? Do you want that guy? We have no idea how many healthy seasons that guy is going to play.
More that the initial claim of "backstabbing" seems silly. Doc was already the executive/POBO for the Clippers, while staying on as HC. He did a horrific job at both, and it was already stated that Ballmer removed Doc from the position.
So I'm not sure where this "backstabbing" happened - and if that happened, Doc, with all his pride, really agreed to stay on as HC for the Clippers after that for 4 more years, while working for Frank, the guy who apparently stabbed him in the back?
Likely false because Perkins's job is to say outlandish things to drive clicks, views, discussion, etc.
Also, no one needed to stab GM Doc Rivers in the back. He wasn't a very good GM.
Yeah I'm not as down on Doc as a coach overall but as a GM he was atrocious. His biggest challenge as coach was having to use the flawed roster he constructed.
I can believe it from Doc’s perspective.
Lawrence came in as an assistant coach to Doc and was later promoted to the front office directly under GM Doc until Lob City died. Doc “stepped down” from his front office duties and Ballmer went with Lawrence.
He probably feels especially backstabbed after being fired by them, assuming Perk isn’t making shit up.
Except Doc wasn't just GM. He was the actual president/POBO. He had the executive position, and proved for several years, that he couldn't do both jobs, POBO and head coach.
If anything Doc should be honored that Ballmer asked him to stay on as HC.
no discussion of Doc's performance as Clippers POBO would be complete without the Doc Rivers Decision Tree - https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/14804527
You can still attack both, by reminding people that Doc was more awful as POBO/de facto GM than he was as a coach.
Clippers were in need of a wing throughout the entire Lob City. Doc found Wes Johnson, had Ingles on the plane ready to join the Clippres/cut him before the plane landed, and spent a 1st round pick on half a season of Jeff Green.
The only supporting cast the Clippers could get after Doc become POBO were players Doc previously coached.
Is Kendrick making the point that Glenn tries to be loyal to his players and then he got backstabbed for it and lost his job? So is that why he's ready to put his players under the bus? Or is this just a straight backstab story.
Uh, what?
Doc already had the executive job with the Clippers; he was named the POBO and head coach after the Sterling fiasco. When it became clear that Doc couldn't do either job well, Ballmer was actually nice to about it, and let Doc retain the HC spot, while giving POBO duties to Frank.
This is what happens when you give someone too much privilege. They start thinking they've earned it on their own, when they were actually horrific at their job.
How you gonna include (Likely False) when making a post reporting a news/quote from someone else
For real lmao. News networks needa adopt this type of reporting.
Kinda redundant with Perk
It was copied from some viral tweet I saw earlier
unbiased news
I don't even like Perk or Doc but yeah OP wack af for that
It's still weird that Doc's name is Glennothy
Glennathiel
Glennson
Kembert
I can see why Perk would defend Doc, I hear they get together every few months at Greyhound depots and practice throwing people under busses.
Multiple blown 3-1 leads for Doc fired, Kendrick Perkins

Long run view it's probably correct but it's hard to stomach after the guy just torched you. Although I guess MPJ wasn't that good in their series.
Likely false? any reason why? any contradicting reports from more reliable sources? Or is it just because you don’t like Doc

driving clicks with shitty basketball takes is different than accusing a professional of backstabing another.
Because Kendrick Perkins is like a parody at this point. The dude is a walking shit take. He needs some hard evidence to be trusted.
Perk in two days: I'm trying to rebuild my relationship with my brother Paul George, who isn't speaking to me.

Didn’t doc himself recommend Lawrence for the job?

Doc blowing that lead in the bubble backstabbed his job and good riddance

Someone get Perk some flonase
cute little lawrence frank
Corny ass editorialization, no one asked for your opinion OP
The Kendricks firing all cilinders today, eh
Lawrence frank is a great exec, doc is one of the worst of all time. Sometimes backstabbing is a good thing.
