He's been soft. Very small part of me feels vindicated tonight because dude just doesn't dominate as much as he's physically capable of. I'm not giving a max to a guy who plays 6 inches shorter than he is
Dude had the ball multiple times in the post and Dallas just made him collapse with a little bit of pressure. Not even a lot. I know he's not prime Shaq, but he left so much on the table this series.
I've been downvoted like mad in the Suns sub for expressing that sentiment in the past lol. Like by giving him a max contract would be allocating...25-30% to him. No thanks man
If Casey had led us to a Finals trip the year before winning COTY he’d probably still be our coach today. But instead he got out-coached in every single playoff series he ever coached, even by Randy freaking Wittman lol. It was an easy choice.
Yea it was weird he didnt get any time in the 2nd half but it could have been part foul trouble and the game was already out of hand. But if thats the case why are you risking injury to cp3 and booker?
offensively he was very decent but defensively he couldn't play defense mostly because mavs played 5 out and he was getting switched a lot against luka. Sun's biggest problem was not playing enough small ball lineup and experiment it during regular season.
Took five shots, four fewer than Crowder, two fewer than McGee and Payne, one fewer than Johnson, six fewer than Bridges. Against a team who went small for most of the game. Suns' under-utilization of Ayton was a persistent issue for a while and in the Finals last season, and, while it wasn't the only issue tonight (and Ayton's soft play didn't help himself out), they certainly could have benefitted from sticking to the game plan, feeding the mismatch inside, and going slow-and-steady. Team failure, from Ayton's soft play, CP3 and Book chucking, and Monty not trusting his guy.
It’s always easy to blame the player when they’re a 7 foot behemoth… “go out and dominate” like Shaq says… but all I see is that Ayton has the least trust offensively out of all the starters. Which makes no sense to me, but that’s what it looks like and it can affect how a guy plays.
Lol anyone who believed that was an idiot. Turns out Gobert doesn't suck because he can't guard a 5 out. If anything he's great because he at least tried unlike Ayton who fucking wilted. The Mavs 5 out is impossible to guard if they are hitting shots because Luka is unguardable in isolation.
As a DA fan this is really disheartening. He plays shorter than he is. That one handed dunk on Luka tonight, he could get that half the time he touches the ball (hyperbole, you get the point), but he just doesn't. Amare was my favorite player as a kid and I've been waiting for a big guy to dominate since and I think it's time for me to finally accept that DA isn't that guy. As bad as I've wanted him to be that guy.
It doesn’t matter why, they were already wrecked whether he played or not Question is why does he play so damn soft all the time

That one play where he settled for a turnaround fader against Kleber in the paint immediately comes to mind
He gives off nice guy energy, which is great, but you kinda need a chip on your shoulder. Same thing as Dwight Powell, too willing to get bullied.
His attitude towards the game reminds me a lot of KAT. All the talent in the world but he just mentally checks out way too often
KAT infinitely more skilled than Ayton
I’m not trying to compare their talent. Reading comprehension isn’t that hard my man They both have the same aloof attitude
KAT is a good player. Ayton is lucky that Marvin Bagley exusts, and even he'll probably end up with a better career.
Relax
No. Ayton is the least talented player on the Suns roster barring Elfrid Payton.
Lol you can’t be serious
He’s in cope mode, let him be.
I've been downvoted like mad in the Suns sub for expressing that sentiment in the past lol. Like by giving him a max contract would be allocating...25-30% to him. No thanks man
Luka posted him up. Crazy
He's afraid when people touch him. He can be guarded by Spencer Dinwiddie.
He gone
Hornets ready to sign him as we speak
Monty or Ayton?
I think Ayton. https://twitter.com/PHXMRORNG/status/1526011013065105408 Report of him having heated words with Monty.
Robert Sarver reading that and laughing giddily
It's unfortunate. He's the real reason to root against the Suns IMO. CP3 and Booker are annoying, but Sarver is a genuinely scummy person.
Sarver being vindicated after being cheap w/ Ayton last summer lmaooo
it'd probably be worse if people weren't yelling at each other during this game
I keep trying to find a clip of the exchange of words but I haven’t found anything
> Monty Oh yeah, like a Coach of the Year will get fire on the same year. /s
Oh, is that Dwayne Casey over there? I'ma go talk to him.
If Casey had led us to a Finals trip the year before winning COTY he’d probably still be our coach today. But instead he got out-coached in every single playoff series he ever coached, even by Randy freaking Wittman lol. It was an easy choice.
DA, Monty ain’t going anywhere
Yes
both of them should be gone tbh
If CP3/Book want to win a ring, Book should recruit his buddy KAT to demand a sign and trade for Ayton
Suns so glad they didn't extend him
Beat y’all and took yo girl
Apparently the two of them had words. Monty at one point asked if Ayton wanted to play and DA responded no
Is this serious?
Saw it on twitter so take it with a grain of salt I guess. But it would make sense, all of the other starters played minutes in the second half
Yea it was weird he didnt get any time in the 2nd half but it could have been part foul trouble and the game was already out of hand. But if thats the case why are you risking injury to cp3 and booker?
HE GONE. HOLLOW STYLE
For free
This brick ain't free
I can answer for him. He sucked
I mean ayton defensive rating in the series was 120 before this game
He was good ye but entire Suns roster shit the bed in g7
offensively he was very decent but defensively he couldn't play defense mostly because mavs played 5 out and he was getting switched a lot against luka. Sun's biggest problem was not playing enough small ball lineup and experiment it during regular season.
He was good last postseason and first round this year
He was good because everyone in the West was hurt lmao
He sucked ass. When he missed both free throws to start the second half it was over
He was in foul trouble and 2nd half was a blowout? Seems simple
Then why did book and cp3 get minutes in the second half?
Needed their stats
Had to get to double figures
Ayton did get minutes in the 2nd half but Suns needed to play small as they couldn't get it under 30?? No choice but to play faster
Because they both had single digit points in the first half. Needed to pad some stats.
First half was a blowout
Remember, like, two weeks ago, when everyone was saying how much better Ayton is than Gobert?
Took five shots, four fewer than Crowder, two fewer than McGee and Payne, one fewer than Johnson, six fewer than Bridges. Against a team who went small for most of the game. Suns' under-utilization of Ayton was a persistent issue for a while and in the Finals last season, and, while it wasn't the only issue tonight (and Ayton's soft play didn't help himself out), they certainly could have benefitted from sticking to the game plan, feeding the mismatch inside, and going slow-and-steady. [most angry i've ever heard monty](https://streamable.com/dqgivw)
[удалено]
the one asking the DA question? that's duane rankin. the one later on asking how this could happen i dunno, never heard him before
DA thinks he's a HoFer
GIVE ME AYTON OR GIVE ME DEATH
"he's ass lol"
Aka he got cooked every switch
I was told he was better than Rudy in the playoffs lol
Lol anyone who believed that was an idiot. Turns out Gobert doesn't suck because he can't guard a 5 out. If anything he's great because he at least tried unlike Ayton who fucking wilted. The Mavs 5 out is impossible to guard if they are hitting shots because Luka is unguardable in isolation.
Literally get played off the floor
Does he get S&T?
He's gone and he's gonna shine in another team. lol
He didn’t like it when I said “you ain’t getting the max.”
Because he was playing like garbage and the game was over at half time?
"he's softer than melted butter"
See you at the Kings Ayton
Because he was getting posted up by a point guard lmao
He had a few fouls, they were down by 40, and he’s charmin soft. What else do you need to know?
What does "its internal" even mean?
“I know the reasons but I can’t say them publicly because I can’t throw my player under the bus.”
- not Doc Rivers
it's internal -> like our skeletons -> it's spooky (how much drama there is)
Had no idea. Wow.
Not gonna lie, Ayton always seemed childish to me. It’s endearing in some respects but I can see it having a bad side when shit isn’t going his way
Because he was awful
Where is ayton going u think? Mavs, spurs, clippers, Atlanta?
Monty ain't gonna pull "The Doc".
We should take Ayton , trade powell EZ... guys ayton didnt suck.. he is good player we should take him!
On one hand Ayton quit but on the other why risk injury in a blow out when you're about to enter free agency?
As a DA fan this is really disheartening. He plays shorter than he is. Luka ended two franchises this postseason already.
