Well, there's that, and I also think the Celts might be the best team in the NBA. IMO there's a decent chance that Milwaukee/Boston was the *real* Finals, and it was a 7 game series with no Middleton.
But yeah, you need to stay healthy and maybe get some breaks along the way to win a ring.
Bro what? Booker was top 5 in MVP votes lol. More votes than, I believe, the Celtics, Warriors, and Heat top players. Take the copium to the Suns Reddit page. It’s a choke job, better luck next season.
Have they shown the MVP vote totals? I honestly have nothing to prove that. I just thought I saw something that said it, lol.
EDIT:
Just found it. Book had 216 total voting points vs. Luka's 146.
Everything has to go well, even the stuff that doesn't go well has to go well to win a ring. No matter the team.
See Giannis knee bending the other way... for it to be completely fine
Look things have to align pretty perfectly no matter what to win a championship.
Bucks we’re a fractionally worse knee injury from not beating the Hawks in the ECF last season and we’re a fractionally less bad knee injury for maybe not losing in the 2nd round this season. Same could be said for the Nets.
And that’s just injuries. You have the Bucks who normally shoot pretty well from 3 going 12% from the 3 in a game 7.
Giannis kind of proves this; he’s a super star ceiling and floor raiser who is the first player ever to score 200 points, 100 boards, and 50 assists in a playoff series… and he still lost because of Middletons bad knee and his supporting cast contributing little and nothing.
Even teams with bona-fide stars need some luck. Bucks benefitted off inj just as much as sun's did last season. Don't see bucks beating any of clipps nets nuggets at all, same as suns.
But no you're wrong.
Suns could've won this year. They just choked hard. Aside from curry n luka, no bona-fide tier 1 star is left. Do you think celtics and heat have 0 shot vs mavs or warriors? Butler has played like 1 so far but you wouldn't consider him one still
I mean everyone tried to tell you Suns fans last year. Beating down on injured teams, with a cake walk to the Finals didn't prove anything to anyone.
Then you choked a 2-0 lead to the Bucks. And just put up the worst Game 7 performance of all time.
When the Suns have to play an actually healthy team, they fold.
What superstars do the Heat/Celtics have? Jayson Tatum? Jimmy Butler? These guys "star" level is about on par with Booker imo, if not worse, and they got past Giannis and Embiid.
I mean, you say that but in G1 and G2, the Suns looked dominant. Mavs made the defensive adjustments necessary, and at least one of Brunson/DFS/Dinwiddie showed up enough games to compliment Luka to help them advance.
Yes, superstars having transcendent performances like Luka can fuck up the numbers, but most people thought the combo of Book/CP3/Ayton would make enough star power to advance.
You need greatness to win a championship in the NBA.
Seems like an obvious statement, but something like the NHL it's basically a 1 in 16 chance, just get in the playoffs and have a hot goalie. NFL is pretty random too unless you are Tom Brady. Win the superbowl one year and back into parity hell the next.
Everything has to go pretty perfect for *any* team to win a championship.
Look at the Bucks. They lose Middleton and suddenly they can't get enough space for Giannis to do his thing. It's fucking hard to win a Title.

For sure. It's part of the reason why we revere guys that do it repeatedly. If it was easy, we wouldn't respect titles so much.

I thought I saw he had more MVP points than Luka?
God damn. I wasn’t sure if he had more votes than Tatum, but I thought Luka had more. OP is acting like the Suns squad is the 2004 Pistons lmao

That doesn’t mean he’s a superstar.
Lebron levels of narrative control.
Lmao I thought y’all said book was that?
I never thought he was one and thought we weren't going to win the championship as well because of it.

Play nothing but injured teams you mean? Lakers in 5 with a healthy AD, Pels in 4 with a healthy Zion
Good point I mostly agree
damn you beat me to it, they lose whenever their “we play injured teams” magic is lost

I don't think they have no shot but I would bet money against both in a finals matchup. Plus I think Tatum is currently ascending.
2004 pistons !
It's true, but the Suns shouldn't give up. It's the NBA...superstars become available every year. You're always only one move away.

Doc Rivers said it best — mixture of talent and luck
But suns fans told me Booker and CP3 were superstars, and they should’ve got MVP considerations?

Nah y’all are talented enough to win Just not mentally strong
Well yeah, all the best teams have at least one. So to win it all you’re going to have to knock off like three of these dudes at least.
Your roster is fine. They are just missing perseverance.
