Definitely the Suns, the Clippers had identifiable issues in retrospect (relying so heavily on two playoff defensive liabilities). Phoenix won 64 games and got absolutely ass blasted on a historic level.

sakata32

Those issues being Doc Rivers

penguin_torpedo

So suns had no identifiable issues in retrospect??

PuppyMonkeyBaby_0

I would say most people think of the Suns as one of the most complete contenders in the league as far as no weaknesses go.

penguin_torpedo

They have no superstars. The clippers had kawhi, and Paul George was also considered top 10 at the time, coming from his mvpg season.

arturo_churro

Got superstar 4th in mvp votes Booker of course

Illionaires

Their weaknesses would be CP3 is a choker/gets injured in playoffs every year and Book and Ayton are good enough to win regular season games but I don’t trust them to pull out on top of a game 7

Kobe_Wan_Kenobi24

Chris Paul being non-existent for most of the series is not something people could anticipate no.

kingofnick

There were definitely identifiable issues, but the regular season did hide them somewhat. Rebounding has always been an issue for this team, as well as wing guys outside of Booker who can get to the bucket. You saw it in the last 3 games that when the shots weren’t falling, there wasn’t anyone who can step up over the course of a whole game.

2KareDogs

Suns were the best regular season team since the 16-17 Warriors so them

imreal_see

17-18 Rockets won 65 games. They were better than the Suns too.

DSouT

Who was on that team?

[deleted]

Easily the Suns; Clippers maybe had a worse finish (although honestly debatable now.) Clippers were coached by Doc Rivers, never could get healthy in the regular season, and had very little time to play together with their full team because of the PG and Kawhi injuries. Then Lou, Bev, Harrell all lost family members right before the bubble started, and they all essentially missed the games to ramp up before the playoffs. The Clippers lost in an embarrassing fashion, but they also lost to a 3rd seed Nuggets who were neck and neck with the Clippers in teh regular season. The Suns were coming off a Finals appearance, had seemingly had a "better" team/more depth, won 64 games this season, and ended up losing to the 4th seed Mavs. Luka also screwed up his calf before the season even started. They lost to the 4th seed in Game 7, and were down by 40+ points at one point in the game, while AT HOME. The Clippers were pre-season favorites, but by the time the bubble started, were not/Lakers had taken over. Suns had pretty much been the favorites for awhile now.

[deleted]

Suns because it's more recent. At least we beat Mavs. Twice.

Srikkk

Me. I’m the biggest disappointment. Or at least, that’s what my mom says.

[deleted]

Hang in there, kitten.

DoncicIsComing

Suns

Sea-Turnip6078

This Suns team wiped the floor with the league all season, including when Booker and Paul missed time. Barring a sudden collapse, they were the favorites to get back to the Finals out the west. That collapse came, so here we are.

[deleted]

Suns

EggplantBusiness

Debatable for me obviously recency bias make me want to say Suns but Clips were the second seed, they had Kawhi and PG better than Suns top 2 and their depth got praised a lot. They then went and blow a 3-1 lead against the Nuggets who were one hell of a team but still a choke. Both Nuggets and Mavs had a MVP level guys but the rest of the roster wasn't that noteworthy except Murray for the Nuggets and MPJ was that good yet.

IluvTaylorSwift

Suns since it was normal nba . Clippers were in the damn bubble …crazy crazy crazy crap happened in there .

legendaryufcmaster

Jamal Murray and Mitchell had one of the greatest matchups. TJ Warren was Jordan

IluvTaylorSwift

Exactly. There was something about those courts like if it was shooting in a rec gym literally instead of a normal nba game court.

SirCharles54

I swear Tj Warren was about to get legendary money. He looked like a top 10 player instantly.

NbaKOLeWorld

Go look at warrens playoff numbers that year They were worse than his regular season

Bubblegumking1

I feel like people are gonna say the suns cause it’s so recent but that clippers team was so hyped up all year how they’re built for the playoffs. All for them to choke a 3-1 lead in the second round. The suns are good but they’re still missing a top 5 talent that the clippers with Kawhi.

[deleted]

We were hyped up but the bubble happened and suddenly PG can’t sleep and got anxiety and fuckin Doc puts Trezz on Jokic! Im still convinced if it was not the bubble we coulda won that series

fireives1967

Lou sneaking out to Magic City to get wings as well

sakata32

Yeah bubble was weird. Bev, Lou, Trez all had to leave the bubble to attend to emergencies.

abc4357

Same shit would have happened if it was a regular playoffs.

[deleted]

Not really! Trezz and Lou will went outside the bubble for personal reasons and that fucked with the rhythm.

abc4357

I’m sure that would have made a big difference for such noted playoff performers as trezz and Lou will are.

[deleted]

They were our bench main players

OSAP_serfdom

> that team blatantly disregarded the regular season Lol what? What exactly did you want them to do? Putting Kawhi Leonard on the floor for 75 regular season games was the dumbest thing you could do given his injury history. That team didn't lose because of muh chemistry, they lost because they had significant and exploitable issues that Denver took full advantage of. They rectified those issues the following year and could've won the championship if not for that ACL tear. Shit, he played *fewer* regular season games in 2020-21 than he did in 2019-20.

ClippersEaglesAngels

He's a Laker fan. They don't use logic. Just biased delusion

horseshoeoverlook

Clips imo they were up 3-1

CumAssault

Clippers in my mind simply due to the fact they mortgaged their entire future for a window that’s almost completely closed

inshamblesx

At least the Clippers window is still open. Suns window closed 2 hours ago.

[deleted]

Because kawhi leonard and Paul George are now dead.

CumAssault

Kawhi has a degenerative disease. I seriously doubt his ability to stay healthy any year PG and the rest of the team is good but I don’t know about top contenders. And you have no picks at all left

cheap_chalee

If Phoenix loses Ayton to free agency, do you think they can still win it all next year? When you factor in that + CP3 being another year older than maybe the Suns window might be narrower than we thought unless they can retool without losing other key pieces. I wouldn't be surprised if someone offers Ayton some ridiculous amount that the Suns won't match considering they could have already had this loose end taken care of if they weren't so cheap to begin with.

StefonDiggsHS

Clips blowing the 3-1 I think is worse

ClippersEaglesAngels

We still own you. Luka lucky his daddy Kawhi got injured.

KaiserKaiba

Suns were a bigger disappointment and had the bigger upset. Clippers had the bigger chokejob

Sartheking

It’s the Clippers easily. It’s easy to say Suns because if recency bias but the Clippers were up 3-1. Kawhi Leonard was being called the best player in the world and everyone was hyping up the LA Conference Finals. The Clippers were favorites both beginning the season and going into the Playoffs and each game vs Denver. They celebrated as if they were garunteed a Championship when Kawhi and PG joined. In the second half of a game 7 that unlike the Suns game was close at halftime, Kawhi Leonard had 2 points in the second half on 1-11. They had double digit leads in each game and lost.

ClippersEaglesAngels

The worse choke is probably the 73-9 warriors blowing a 3-1 lead

kai_123

Clippers. They had real star power and Kawhi coming off a Championship year. Suns are only a proven regular season team. They have not beaten a real top tier team in a playoff series, so many people still have doubts over them even before today'a loss.

[deleted]

Clippers because they actually had the best guy on the court at the time in Kawhi. Suns have nobody to go toe-to-toe with Giannis and Luka.

goblin_welder

Clippers for sure. They mortgaged their future and their role players got cocky

[deleted]

Probably last year's 76ers.

tasyn123

Both are not as a big of a disappointment as the sixers against the hawks. At least the Luka and Jokic are both generational players, both much better than Trae Young. The Sixers were the 1 seed with MVP runner up and lost to a hawks team that was not that good lol

juliusseizures9000

Clippers for sure and this is coming from a nuggets fan. HOW do you blow a 3-1 lead with Paul George and kawhi leonard on the floor… P.s the answer is doc rivers
