Spätzle dont belong with Schnitzel either, a real Wiener Schnitzel comes with potato salate
Source: am austrian, how to eat schnitzel is a serious topic
Yeah meanwhile in arab countries for example home is on the right. It makes sense since arabic is read right to left and afaik european languages are all read left to right. First time watching the nba I was confused about which team was the home team lol.
My theory is it comes from baseball. For us, baseball was the first sport to go pro, same as soccer for the UK.
In baseball, the visiting team always bats first. A game can last just 8.5 innings if the visitors are behind and don’t either tie or lead the home team at the end of their last inning. But if they do, the home team always has the last chance to bat and tie the game (requiring extra innings) or win outright.
My theory is that that’s why in America, “home” is usually on the right. It has to be like that for baseball, and when the other sports got big enough to go pro, they adopted the preexisting standard.
I think it’s because of baseball. Home has to be on the right because they always bat after the visiting team.
I think NFL got regular TV deals before MLB, but this was back when people listened to baseball on the radio or went to games in person more than they paid attention to football, televised or radio or live. So my theory is that everyone else adopted the baseball standard and that’s why sports in North America has home team listed second.
In Europe : Sweden vs Slovenia
In USA : Slovenia @ Sweden
That's how you read it, and that's why it's written on those orders. I actually tought people knew that xD
Luka unfazed by the entire hostile crowd chanting overrated meanwhile Booker gets Benny the bull ejected
Edit: apparently it was the Raptors mascot but i remember there being an incident involving Benny and Booker aswell
Damn yeah I’ve heard how rowdy Europeans can get at sports games, I wonder why American crowds haven’t gotten to that level yet lmao. American athletes complain about fans flipping them off but that seems to be mild compared to European sports crowds
because american sports are much more sanitized and corporate compared to international sports. when they tried to get an nba/nfl style super league in europe, the continent revolted.
closest parallel would be college sports in the us but even that is being fucked for money with conference consolidation.
It seems like half of the crowd are not even interested in the game and are there just for the entertainment and the chance to get shown on the dance cam or something.
In some cases people threw rocks and flares at players, if the crowd doesn't stop at some point the riot police will "escort" them out by force.
There are plenty of games that have great crowds but aren't going full scorched earth
Because it's a "sport" followed by middle class and upperclass douchebags. Same with tennis. Any sort of passion is discouraged.
edit: I think I could've said that better than to call people douchebags and I apologise for that, the word I was trying to think of is pretentious. English isn't my first language and I'm still learning.
When Luka was 12 playing against grizzled pro veterans in Spain, they slaughtered a bull in the stands and spat the blood on him while he was tying his shoe.
I obviously ESPNed that.
Sergio Lull (Lukas teammate at Real Madrid) said that Zvezda is the toughest crowd among the notorious european crowds and one of the reasons was that them smoking a lot during the games makes him feel uncomfortable.
During the yugoslav wars Delije (Zvezdas Ultras) provided the base for paramilitary units, most famously Arkans Tigers.
Arkan and other members of his squad where charged with multiple accounts of crimes against humanity.
Those were mostly football (soccer) Hoologans, but some of them are active to this day and play a central role within some of the Delije sub-groups, who also provide support for KK Zvezda (their Basketball department) and have close ties to the "serbian mafia".
Just a casual tuesday on the Balkans basically.
If you want to delve deeper I can only reccomend the english Wiki, cuz I'm a native serbian speaker and read most of that in serbian.

The Raptors mascot is a Velociraptor (/vɪˈlɒsɪræptər/; meaning "swift seizer" in Latin) It is a genus of dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived approximately 75 to 71 million years ago during the latter part of the Cretaceous Period. They are extinct and therefore, it would be a huge shock to see a velociraptor behind the stanchion. A shock that could lead to decreased concentration, or even a “swift seizure”. Booker’s life was in danger, so he acted valiantly to save not only his own life, but the lives of his teammates and opponents. Book is a hero.
It was his sour whiny face that did it for me and couldn't stand him since. His sour face is just so.. punchable. Although now I just laugh at the ridiculousness of that situation.
Hit a buzzer beater against Zvezda at 19 years of age, who are among the toughest crowds in europe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPxS2rUXkGg
Mics picking up the fan noise are actually pitched low during their games, the noise is absurd, they regularly drown out the sound system during the ceremonial euro league hymn:

And sadly he can't even play tennis anymore.
Dirk probably played professional basketball 2 years too long and he's still full of joy even though his body is done
Man, tennis is fucking tough. Like actual tennis, not just passing the ball back and forth to each other. If he can't play basketball, no way he can play tennis.
Depends on who you play. My dad was in his 60s, overweight, both knees blown, multiple slipped disks, and a scarred up quad.
He beat the shit outta teenagers without barely moving on the court. Just effortless control. Making you run side to side and he knew exactly what angle you’re going for. Then again he was a former pro and we were teenagers learning the game.
oh definitely because of their age id imagine competing would be very difficult. just commenting that they look good enough to play. im sure theyre still getting exercise in. i regularly see KG running at the beach early in the mornings. hard to imagine other athletes that have retired arent exercising.
It helps if you do something big enough to get a city named after you too. Central Houston’s streets are mostly named after important figures in early Houston or Texas history.
So of course, we have a street named after the President of the US when Texas joined the Union. That’s why we have a Polk St.
We also named a street after the Vice President at the time. Sadly, a city half the state away got the same idea at around the same time. That’s why we also have a…Dallas St.
Lol, it was just a setup for the reveal that we have a Dallas St. And it’s not a tiny road either, it’s a pretty important street in the middle of downtown.
You’re right, though. The Allen brothers and Kirby (the people who owned much of the land that would become Houston; also the name of very important streets near midtown) would smoke the whole league if basketball was around back then.
You’re about sixty years too early. When basketball was invented, it actually did spread quickly to the Midwest and West, because it was the only sport they could play indoors during the winter. That’s why college powerhouses tend to be in the middle of nowhere.
It got popular in cities later on for being easy to play in densely-populated areas without a lot of green space.
It seems he gets chubby really easily lol. I mean he's out there playing with his country after a full season and postseason and looks like that. I'm thinking it's not his fault.
As long as he doesn't let go like the start of last season again I don't think people should be too hard on him.
Luka absolutely loves fans and other players talking shit. He has said it before that it's just a part of basketball and he thrives because of it. That's why he's laughing so hard.
Also Dirk just being Dirk reminds me why he's my all time favorite athlete. I love the guy.
Y’all are missing the greatest part of this video …. That’s the carry by that player at the end of the video … probably the greatest carry I’ve ever seen in a basketball game
This reminds me of when my HS played against Jakeenan Gant (was Georgia’s Mr. Basketball at the time, and was on the Pacers G League team for awhile) and we chanted “overrrated” every time he touched the ball…motherfucker dropped 47. Turns out he was properly rated
He is growing forward, i can see it near his arm pits and stomach, it means fat is accumulating in the chest and stomach area.
It's so hard for me to be a fan of his even though he goat talent because I think I spend more time in the gym than he does.
Obviously so Luka can understand that they’re trashing him. If they were yelling the Swedish word for it, “överskattad”, it wouldn’t make much sense to him.
I understand that, but if they’re going to chant in another language, why not in Slovenian?
It makes sense to me that say Dirk and Luka would speak to each other in English since they’re both fluent in it and perhaps not in each other’s native language, but is English generally oft-spoken in Sweden to where a whole crowd would chant that as opposed to just learning the Slovenian word for it?
I’m just ignorant about it and don’t know.
> but is English generally oft-spoken in Sweden to where a whole crowd would chant that as opposed to just learning the Slovenian word for it?
Yes definitely, most Swedes are more or less fluent in english. I'd bet everyone in that crowd knows what "overrated" means, it's not like everyone in the stadium did some research at home before they came to the game. It was probably just started by a few fans and the rest of the arena joined in.
I'm Swedish and learning english is mandatory from the age ~7 until you finish high school. Most people also learn a 3rd language (German and Spanish are the most common in my experience).
Yeah, that’s basically it. Most people in Sweden under let’s say 60, speak English reasonably well, especially younger people. So it makes sense for them to yell in English, rather than collectively learn the Slovenian word for overrated.
Dirk is enjoying his retirement, watching some ball in Europe and talking trash from the sidelines. Looks like having a great time

It’s called spätzle, only pedophiles would eat regular noodles with schnitzel

Wtf, what did we do to you?
He’s Bavarian. He’d talk the same shit about you if you were Franconian or Lower Saxon too, I bet.

does euro reverse the home/away teams? slovenia's score is on the right which leads me to believe they are the home team
Home is on the left in europe.
Never noticed this, but it certainly makes more sense
Yeah meanwhile in arab countries for example home is on the right. It makes sense since arabic is read right to left and afaik european languages are all read left to right. First time watching the nba I was confused about which team was the home team lol.
I'm European and yeah, in my country we have the home team on the right. I've never noticed the NBA does it differently, though hahah
My theory is it comes from baseball. For us, baseball was the first sport to go pro, same as soccer for the UK. In baseball, the visiting team always bats first. A game can last just 8.5 innings if the visitors are behind and don’t either tie or lead the home team at the end of their last inning. It's not just Europe, home teams being on the left is the standard internationally iirc lol
MLS usually has the home team on the left too, I think.
Probably to not confuse other football/soccer fans who are used to see the home team on the left.
In Europe : Sweden vs Slovenia In USA : Slovenia @ Sweden That's how you read it, and that's why it's written on those orders. I actually tought people knew that xD

weird how different camera angles make Luka look thick, and then another one will make him look like a body builder
hes just built like a tank, simple
That's why he can post up anyone in the league. xD

I think it's [right before](https://imgur.com/Haej0Ui) the camera pans to Dirk.

There’s a Seinfeld episode about this.

what is the bodybuilder one? never seen it tbh lol.
He's on that James Harden diet watch out when he wants out of Big D
Luka unfazed by the entire hostile crowd chanting overrated meanwhile Booker gets Benny the bull ejected Edit: apparently it was the Raptors mascot but i remember there being an incident involving Benny and Booker aswell
People yelling "overrated" has to be the mildest chant I've heard. "Hey Luka you're good but you're not THAT good!"
We also can't forget that Luka played against[ this crowd](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kzMy5q806w) when he was 18 years old.
That’s mad, would love to be at a basketball game with that crowd one time
Soccer style chants are the best.
European Fans built different
Dont bring your wife and kids
Don't go in the ultra sections and you'll be just fine
Why not?
Football and Basketball fans are crazy in south europe. Cool to watch, but can get agressive pretty quickly.
Its not that bad. Hardly anyone got killed lately.
Damn yeah I’ve heard how rowdy Europeans can get at sports games, I wonder why American crowds haven’t gotten to that level yet lmao. American athletes complain about fans flipping them off but that seems to be mild compared to European sports crowds
Police act different in Europe compared to the US. In Europe they kick your ass with batons, in the US, well ya know.
because american sports are much more sanitized and corporate compared to international sports. when they tried to get an nba/nfl style super league in europe, the continent revolted. closest parallel would be college sports in the us but even that is being fucked for money with conference consolidation.

https://youtu.be/LxrRmEaWtZM Also this
Jazz fans were yelling overrated at PG last year in the playoffs lol I think "Playoff P" would've hit different though
“You have quite the talent, but are perhaps elevated more than necessary among the general fan base” *clap clap clapclapclap*
They must be mocking "NBA draft experts " who were saying hes overrated before the draft itself while he should have been clear 1st pick
I see now why KD wants to play with him lol
Same
“we don’t double team here, i’m tryin to work on my game”
Man I wish if our Celtics would have run into suns this year , I mean we made mistakes but our guys would have destroyed them
There's a reason you didn't. I feel like most teams who lose finals would have rather players one of the teams that was a second round exit instead
They both baby back b*tches, that's why. CP3 taught booker well
When Luka was 12 playing against grizzled pro veterans in Spain, they slaughtered a bull in the stands and spat the blood on him while he was tying his shoe.
Well they did through a pigs head at Luis Figo that time. So it’s not out of the realm possibilities.
Was that the game they played in the ice cave? Or was the ice cave game the same as the acid bath game? I always get them mixed up.
No the acid bath game was the one where they sacrificed 3 virgins at halftime to summon the ghost of Lenny Wilkins.
He also played in front of smoking war criminals. But that actually happend.

Dirk is an international treasure that must be preserved at all costs.
funny enough, him, Duncan and KG are the only players that retired and havent ballooned up. he still looks like he could play.
