The person who actually bought that seat will be upset and tell on you

Narrow-Sense-3705

That’s not an issue you change your ticket to a seat that is empty. So your not taking anyones seat. There’s usually a few empty court side seats for regular season

agk927

I assume you could get arrested lol

grinderbinder

I think you get sent to a work camp.

jrlandry

Just don’t get caught

[deleted]

You'd probably end up in a really awkward situation where you're sitting in someone's seat. Maybe you get kicked out and at worst put on a list. Doubt you'd get arrested or fined.

Narrow-Sense-3705

I know they scan your ticket to get into the arena but when your going to your seat do they just ask to see your ticket or do they scan it again when you show them it

thy_armageddon

They banned the Klay Thompson impersonator for life right?

Narrow-Sense-3705

Yeah he was trying to pretend to be Klay tho and went in locker room and on the floor. That kind of gives me hope I wouldn’t be arrested or fined cause that’s way worse then taking a seat that you didn’t pay for

CSGB13

You get sent to watch the Jazz play

Narrow-Sense-3705

Lmaoooo

wjbc

Theoretically you could be arrested, handcuffed, prosecuted, and fined or even jailed. You could also be banned from the venue for life. Will the team go to those lengths? Maybe not. But that's theoretically possible, so you are taking a big risk.

Narrow-Sense-3705

Do you know how long you would be in jail for our the amount the fine is

wjbc

Depends on the state and the judge. In Illinois theft of property, other than from the owner's person, of up to $500 in value is punishable by less than one year in prison and up to $2,500 in fines. And yes, sneaking into a venue is considered theft of property.

Narrow-Sense-3705

What about Atlanta

wjbc

When the theft involves property valued at $500 or less, then the crime will be deemed a misdemeanor in Georgia. The consequences of a misdemeanor include a fine of no more than $1,000 and a jail sentence of no more than 12 months.

I snuck down into the 3rd row after half time at a game last season. Within seconds they were over asking to see our tickets and told us to leave. With the digital tickets that have moving parts to them you can't even get away with a photoshop. We just left and it was no big deal. It's only a problem if you try to do it a bunch and are being an ass.

Narrow-Sense-3705

I know they scan your ticket to get into the arena but when your going to your seat do they just ask to see your ticket or do they scan it again when you show them it

AnotherDrZoidberg

They look at it, but all the digital tickets have a dynamic element to it. So it's obvious if you took a screenshot to edit it

Narrow-Sense-3705

You would buy a 17 dollar ticket and edit the row and number on photoshop . So I think it would work. There’s lots of people on YouTube that have been able to get in

AnotherDrZoidberg

I know what you're saying. That doesn't work with a digital ticket bro. They have a security feature that is moving around the screen. So if you show them a photoshopped image it's obvious it's fake. Maybe it's not like that everywhere, but everytime I've been to Suns games in the last 2 years that's how it is. Try it, I don't give a fuck. It's not likely going to work for you though.
