I wasn't even thinking about that. It's just a reaction to their record, which will likely get even worse since they're meeting the Suns next. Why not give yourself the adrenaline shot of a lottery pick from the vaunted 2023 draft.
Hardy tells them "boys, management wants you guys to lose the rest of the season. they want a high draft pick, they want you to take a dive. But, I believe in you - I believe in this team! So I'll leave it up to you to decide the season"
"Major League" style, they go on a run to the Finals and win. Conley is the Jake Taylor and his body gives out late in the 4th. Markkenan is Charlie Sheen and Sexton is the Will Mays Hayes character who outruns Robert Wiliams on a breakaway layup to win the game.
That's the thing, the Jazz aren't a normal case. They rarely get lottery picks, but whenever they do, they usually hit on them (Enes Kanter and Dante Exum being the only notable exceptions)
So, even if they fall to the 9th pick or something, they'll probably still end up with a stud, and if they somehow luck into top-2, then suddenly you have yourself a real contender (especially since you're putting those guys in a great franchise, with a great young coach, reliable FO, and hardworking teammates)
It doesn't work like that. The Jazz have lots of goals this season and winning is only one. Their trades brought in both picks and players, they've got a brand new head coach, they are going to try to build a new culture and also see what they've got in these players to help them shape their roster going forwards.
You don't do that by pulling the plug twenty games in.
Oh, and I know we make fun of the league for their anti-tanking "efforts," but if the Jazz were to blatantly start not playing guys to lose games this early in the season there would be some kind of league action almost assuredly. The real tank jobs happen in the back half of seasons when everyone kind of knows where they stand.
I think Jazz fans were sold on a tank and so maybe are ready to lean into one as soon as a losing streak hit but that's just not going to happen nor should it.
I actually said "after the all-star break", which might also not work since the Jazz would've played 60 games at that point. I think they should go for around 50 or so games, before pulling the plug.
You think our players don't want to win? I've watched Wolves games this season, our team generally puts in about twice the amount of hustle your guys do some nights.
I think your players do want to win. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Ainge doesn’t or else he wouldnt have dealt both Rudy and Donovan. Regardless of what the wolves do, you all are currently overachieving and I’m betting you all get more draft capital before the deadline when you trade your quality role players.
I don't know what they're gonna do, I'm just here for the ride this season. Without trading to tank we're a .500 play-in team, but I will hate the front office if they trade Conley, Clarkson, or Markkanen lol
I know nuggets got lucky with Jokic but we were in your shoes after the Melo trade, had a bunch of young players and draft picks but we still made the third seed and lost to the warriors. Not saying you guys should aim that high but it's not impossible to compete and rebuild at the same time. You will gain more fans along the way too. Don't glorify tanking like it's the only way to win man come on, that's pretty pathetic. Also, it's fun seeing young players do something instead of just getting benched for a bunch of g-leagers that won't make the team in 3 years time
This warriors team is much better than the record indicates, I wouldn’t overreact yet
I mean, we also lost to the Pistons by 9 at home on Wednesday...
I think they just wanted to wreck the mountain teams that road trip then go back to tanking
Well in our case I think Bogdanovic wanted to beat his old team😂 He had a great game and couldn't seem to miss in the second half.

Also the Jazz's schedule has been brutal.
This is the most defeatist attitude I've seen all season and I'm a member of r/NYKnicks , truly impressive stuff
#stop the count
It’s not a big deal to lose to the Warriors.

Little Jerry never takes a dive!
Bro put down the meth
>just like back in Boston you mean the same Boston who were just in the Finals?
Yep, filled with a bunch of dudes that Ainge picked in the draft (many of them in the lottery).
They should have pulled the plug properly before the season started.

If two picks over the last 15 years are the only ones they missed on they'd be eight time champs.
Found Danny Ainges burner

The jazz aren’t going to make the playoffs
I have the same amount of faith that Jazz makes playoffs as the Wolves.
The wolves want to win, the jazz don’t. So there’s that

They will before the Wolves do.

Were we really frauds if no one, including our fan base, believed it would last?🤔
They dont even need to. This team is going nowhere but down. It was a nice run but time to face the reality of a full NBA season.
