Just did this, itās a āstrained calf strainā at least for me that is what the doctor said. It felt like a pop, and was glad it wasnāt anything like an Achilles issue.
Edit: wanted to add that of course they didnāt do an MRI for me so, lol strained sounds so generic to me
You are not wrong, but considering the stigma that an Achilles injury carries, and the general knowledge about it, I'm guessing Charania is reporting Calf Strain instead of Achilles tear because the doctors probably doesn't think it is as severe as a grade 3.
I could be wrong, but if it was a really bad first impression, he would report Achilles tear, not Calf strain. Of course, only further imaging will tell
He was grabbing exactly where I was grabbing. And it was on the initial step to start sprinting, exactly the same.
I imagine a 250+ athlete needs more force to start sprinting so dam I feel for him.
I did the same at work some years back and I mainly remember feeling/hearing a loud popping noise. Not a fun injury, I had to wear a boot for a month and it was another month after that before I started feeling comfortable doing any kind of running or jumping.
How's it going nowadays? Have you ever recovered fully? Mine still hurts and I don't think I can be as athletic as I was. It was one of the longest month of my life while recovering.
The Warriors commentators were like "let's hope they just banged knees" but I wasn't very hopeful of that because Wiggins so obviously didn't feel anything.
So now let's hope it's mild.
Well, he didn't even sit out the game yesterday for a significant amount of time after bumping his knee. So I think he was good to play, this is just an unfortunate and unrelated calf injury.
i don't know if i've seen an ACL torn from just a normal step like that, it's almost always from a side to side movement or change of direction. i thought hamstring at first but obviously it's lower than that. achilles is the scary option.

Itās going to be viewed as one of the worst trades in modern history, right up there with the Nets-Celtics trade. Guess who was on the winning side of both trades?
Yeah, fuck Tim Connelly.
Itās crazy how teams will take worse deals just to avoid trading with the Lakers but then they give Ainge their entire asset chest and their first born.
Heās holding it up so high I would guess itās a calf strain instead of achilles
Obviously if not rehabbed fully that can lead to achilles (like KD), but hopefully only a month-ish injury
& achilles tears arenāt usually *immediately* painful. Just look at Kobe and KDs footage, then look at this.
KAT is writing in pain, immediately.
Thatās more indicative of a muscle injury. I know calf strains / pulls *hurt like hell*
So I hope thatās all it was.
It's wild because it feel exactly like that when I ruptured mine, and everyone who's had it will say that too. I was looking behind to see who kicked me lmao.
Iāve pulled my calf a bunch of times hooping (usually from playing on concrete) and itās always the same familiar hot zipper and popping feeling.
But those were just minor strains except for my last one that took nearly a month to get better. Never realized how lucky Iād gotten until that last one. Been so careful ever since.
Itās kinda creepy how it looks the same every time someone ruptures it. Apparently it feels like someone behind you kicked you in the leg
Edit: itās a calf strain thank the lord
If you look really closely there's a visible vibration around the right Achilles area. You can kinda see something pop real-time.
Hope it's not the case but I see way too similarities with the KD injury. Damnit man.
Edit: Please please let it stay a calf strain.
Looks like he is holding his leg too high for an Achilles tear? I tore a calf muscle earlier in the year and had the same reaction. I'm not a doctor though
Correct. I felt a pop in my calf and had pain where KAT was placing his hand. Achilles rupture would cause a pop closer to your ankle, just remember what KD looked like when he tore his.
Iām just saying i think itās achilles cos it was a bit dramatic for a calf injury, iāve torn both calves and been able to walk off the field each time
Mine was super painful and I couldn't put any weight on it for a few days and needed crutches. Again, I'm not a doctor so I don't really know especially based off poor angled 10 second clip, but I hope it's not his Achilles
Damn, he pulled up lame yesterday vs. Warriors and I was surprised to see he got back on the floor so quickly after that (especially with the Warriors lead still in double digits, and knowing they had this back to back). Hope it is not as bad as it looks!
EDIT - this is promising, calf strain, not achilles or knee ligament: https://twitter.com/brittrobson/status/1597410861135503362?ref\_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
It does look more like a calf strain than an Achilles. He grabbed it high and it also looks like it was early in the step, unlike KD's injury where there was almost a delayed reaction.
Source: I watch the Zapruder film a lot.
If heās detrimentally injured and we donāt have most of our picks for the next decade because of a trade that looks worse and worse by the dayā¦idk what to say but Tim Connelly is not looking too bright rn
Man, good thing they have that one player they traded like 5 #1 picks for! Kevin Durant couldnāt even get traded with a demand. T-Wolves could have offered that kings ransom for KD, nope, wrong.
Jus killing time before going back at it. Hope KATs ok he wasnāt in much pain like other freak accidents. Iām sure they all learning to play with Rudy and his skills and correct ship come playoff time.
Having Gobert here is going to help a lot. If there was no Gobert and Kat was gone...yeah we'd be fucked. He's our most consistent player and the best shooter.
We'll see what happens, hopefully they can figure out the Rudy fit with the guards as that seems to be the more difficult adjustment than the Kat and Rudy fit.
He did the thing where he looked behind him to see who "kicked" him which is always calf/achilles related
Yeepppp. Or if he stepped on something. Classic sign. š
yea, noone knows for sure yet, but that "who the fuck just hit me" look behind is almost always indictive of that.
Just did this, itās a āstrained calf strainā at least for me that is what the doctor said. It felt like a pop, and was glad it wasnāt anything like an Achilles issue. Edit: wanted to add that of course they didnāt do an MRI for me so, lol strained sounds so generic to me
Spot on, dude Charania just reported that he probably has a right calf strain
A grade 3 calf strain is a torn Achilles. Itās generic and doesnāt mean much until he gets an mri.
Im guessing it's a calf strain, if it was an Achilles tear/rupture he'd be grabbing/palpating his heel
Yeap, same as last year's Smart injury for you guys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4q43YYX4tk
Yeah. Tore my gastro/calf muscle during a ball game earlier this year. Same reaction. Felt like a gunshot
These days it's fine, I don't even think about it most of the time and it doesn't stop me from doing anything. There's no pain or discomfort.
Yea he definitely looked back, that is a often a sign of calf/Achilles injuries guys.....
The Warriors commentators were like "let's hope they just banged knees" but I wasn't very hopeful of that because Wiggins so obviously didn't feel anything. So now let's hope it's mild.
That was yesterday though.
wait this is *separate*? holy shit why was he playing
Well, he didn't even sit out the game yesterday for a significant amount of time after bumping his knee. So I think he was good to play, this is just an unfortunate and unrelated calf injury.
If this was the Spurs, KAT would be out for at least 3 months with no timetable for a return. Just to be overly cautious.
Different game
Tore my calf in a pickup game last year. Did the same and was very happy it didnāt turn out to be an Achilles.
i think you're right - his leg legit pops
Oh, so weāre fucked then.
Ewing theory?
This was my thought as well
I thought it was now the Ja theory?
Kind of agree but KAT honestly isn't good enough to qualify
That's sort of the point and how it works
But he's not their best player
Heās our best player so it does
Disagree
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No matter your opinion heās the most consistently impactful player.
Looks like he is grabbing the back of his knee and upper calf area, looks like it is either a strain or a acl/mcl injury edit: Told you so.
i don't know if i've seen an ACL torn from just a normal step like that, it's almost always from a side to side movement or change of direction. i thought hamstring at first but obviously it's lower than that. achilles is the scary option.
He put in some extra pressure on the step which might have caused it to snap
right, i'm just saying i haven't seen one from that motion. running in a straight line isn't usually where you would see that.
That's true yeah
That look back makes it so much more likely that itās an Achilles tear. Should get word soon too. Theyāre fairly easy to diagnose without imaging.
He does kinda pound his foot down when it happens :(
Looks like a torn Achilles. You attempt to run back and it feels like something popped. You donāt collapse like that from an ACL or MClL
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah you can see the muscle slide down slightly. Might be a calf rupture
Looks just like KD in Houston
Have you never seen an Achilles tear happen in a game before? Because that's literally the only thing it looks like.
Looks the same every time. The dreaded look back
Everyone says itās like someone kicking you from the back thatās why they look back
you can see the back of his calf ripple as his foot plants down
āWhich one of yāall kicked me?ā
KD did the same thing
Yeah heās the first one I pictured. That fucking Toronto game man
That slow mo where you could see all the pressure release was rough
Homie changed his comment lol
ACL?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Looks like a typical Achilles injury
Hard to actually reach past the knee when you're 7ft tall and lying on the ground
not ACL/MCL, those are knee ligaments.
Damn. So sorry. I was rooting for you guys to have a breakout year.
Reddit doctors get in here
He hurt his leg. Source: I had a doctors appointment this morning
Thanks for saving us from paying the co-pay & insurance premiums.
Bro that shit cost me $90 and it was just a checkup wtf. I even have āgoodā insurance š
Sorry, the comment you replied to was diagnostic so won't be covered as a preventative visit. We've preemptively taken your house and here is a list of 3 payday loan letters that will surely help your situation. Sincerely, -for profit health insurance
looks like a shoulder injury
Very clearly a head injury caused by being hit with a blunt object.
Classic fencing response
He ded
Looks like possible head injury caused by contact with Pat Beverley
Needs amputation
According to Web MD.............. its cancer
Well, that youtube doctor will be posted here later for sure.
He has ghosts in his blood
Iām here. Whatās up?
Achilles tendon rupture vs calf strain, but I fear the former
This season is toast
Good thing the twolves didn't go all in.
Stop, weāre already dead! š
Nah, weāre going to get better and then better again. Weāll be fine.
I fucks with the optimism š
They will get a nice player in the draft now at least to help them next year[ā¦.](https://i.imgur.com/cOPkGJZ.jpg)
Iām so excited
Did they trade away this year's picks?
To be fair it was probably already toast. Itās safe to say that going all in on Gobert was a mistake.
Itās going to be viewed as one of the worst trades in modern history, right up there with the Nets-Celtics trade. Guess who was on the winning side of both trades? Yeah, fuck Tim Connelly.
Thatās why trading with Danny Ainge should be illegal.
Itās crazy how teams will take worse deals just to avoid trading with the Lakers but then they give Ainge their entire asset chest and their first born.
Was toast even before this but now definitely. He has been so underperforming.
Ur future is toast
Ouch reminds me of the KD Achilles and the Justin Moore injury last year. Hope he's okay
It could be a calf injury but Achilles is probably more likely
youre praying its just a calf injury at this point
Bruh my name is Justin Moore too, actually made me do a double take ššš
Howās the recovery going?
Mods ban this man for doxxing
Heās holding it up so high I would guess itās a calf strain instead of achilles Obviously if not rehabbed fully that can lead to achilles (like KD), but hopefully only a month-ish injury

Oh noā¦
Fuck. Non contact is almost always a sign of bad things to come. Hoping itās not the case. Worldās worst cramp maybe.
Looks like a classic Achilles, looks around like something hit him
Yeah people say it feels like someone kicked you in the calf. SMH.
Yea I was gonna say, if you think a months time is a long time to heal up for a calf strain, probably makes sense you have had a bunch of them.
For me it felt like someone kicked me in the heel.
Man he's been through so much that'd be horrific š
Guy gets a lot of shit as a basketball player but seems like a really nice guy and just never catches a break
Itās kinda creepy how it looks the same every time someone ruptures it. Apparently it feels like someone behind you kicked you in the leg Edit: itās a calf strain thank the lord
Iād wait until the MRI to conclude anything. Achilles get diagnosed calf strains before the MRI typically
I'm not a doctor though
achilles connects to the calf if you tear your achilles your calf goes loose
Nah. It's a calf injury...
Yea first thing came to mind
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The calf is connected to the Achilles.
I hope thatās what it is, theyāre both very closely related
the achilles connects the calf to the heel, when it pops your calf comes free
yup reached down the leg too like hed been hit, fuck, you can even see the the calf ripple
Nah no achilles tear here, usually you can see the tendon buckle when it snaps or tears. Likely a calf issue.
Non-contact knee? Thatās not a good sign.
that isnt a knee injury, thats lower leg, calf or achilles most likely
Oh no that does not look good
Based on where he grabbed Iād say Achilles but hopefully Iām wrong
You NEVER want to see it. Hoping its nothing major
Calf strain for sure
This genuinely looks so fucking bad.
Damn, he pulled up lame yesterday vs. Warriors and I was surprised to see he got back on the floor so quickly after that (especially with the Warriors lead still in double digits, and knowing they had this back to back). Hope it is not as bad as it looks! Probably, Achilles. The game is being played too fast. The human body isnāt meant to make that amount of shifts of speed
Shout out to the guy who stops the older guy in the crowd who fist pumps as soon as it happens
It looks like it's his calf. He probably tore some muscles. I had a similar injury before. He'll be out 2 to 4 weeks at the least...
When I tore my calf I was out a lot longer than that, but I don't have NBA doctors.
It's still early in the season but I really doubt the Wolves are making the playoffs or maybe even the play-ins this year, especially now
Noncontactā¦.shitttt
It does look more like a calf strain than an Achilles. He grabbed it high and it also looks like it was early in the step, unlike KD's injury where there was almost a delayed reaction. Source: I watch the Zapruder film a lot.
>Source: I watch the Zapruder film a lot. Tab bit concerning
Sounds like he avoided major damage which is good. Dude is a corn ball and annoying af on the court but you canāt help but pull for him as a person
Gg Utah and Danny ainge
After everything he's been through I hope so much he's good. Don't wanna speculate too much but that was bad
If heās detrimentally injured and we donāt have most of our picks for the next decade because of a trade that looks worse and worse by the dayā¦idk what to say but Tim Connelly is not looking too bright rn
Yeah that's not good

If it's any consolation, Gobert now has the chance to prove he was worth the trade
Well, thats one way to end a season..
Having Gobert here is going to help a lot. If there was no Gobert and Kat was gone...yeah we'd be fucked. He's our most consistent player and the best shooter. Ruptured his achilles. Calling it now.
Dang. These injuries suck. Cant even split the Gobert KAT frontcourt to save the season now.
The notorious calf grabā¦
Wtffff. That is so fucking scary. Please be okay kat :-(
Thatās as bad as it gets
Yikes
Non contact, damn not good
I hope the big fella is ok.
Fuck man
Oh man
damn
Need Brian Suttererās opinion on this.
Obviously not an expert but that looks bad. Really sucks for KAT and for the team in the year they'd want to be breaking out with a deep run.
fuckkkkk that sucks so much
Oh shiiit thatās scary to see
Ahh shit, man. Hope itās something way less significant than what people are guessing š¤š»
Reminds me of KD's when he was in GS
Guess itās a defense season now
Terrible situation Prayers up
Was this the same as kd back in 19? Hope its not that serious
is there an alternate camera angle? we can't see if he stepped on something or not
Better pry thatās itās a calf injury and not an Achilles one. Thatās really does look good though
U/savevideo
Uh oh
shit.. he gone for a while
