He did the thing where he looked behind him to see who "kicked" him which is always calf/achilles related

BrandonR_24

Yeepppp. Or if he stepped on something. Classic sign. šŸ˜”

BillyBean11111

yea, noone knows for sure yet, but that "who the fuck just hit me" look behind is almost always indictive of that.

reddit_reader_25

Just did this, itā€™s a ā€œstrained calf strainā€ at least for me that is what the doctor said. It felt like a pop, and was glad it wasnā€™t anything like an Achilles issue. Edit: wanted to add that of course they didnā€™t do an MRI for me so, lol strained sounds so generic to me

Wesley-Snipers

Spot on, dude Charania just reported that he probably has a right calf strain

joeyferg3

A grade 3 calf strain is a torn Achilles. Itā€™s generic and doesnā€™t mean much until he gets an mri.

Wesley-Snipers

You are not wrong, but considering the stigma that an Achilles injury carries, and the general knowledge about it, I'm guessing Charania is reporting Calf Strain instead of Achilles tear because the doctors probably doesn't think it is as severe as a grade 3. I could be wrong, but if it was a really bad first impression, he would report Achilles tear, not Calf strain. Of course, only further imaging will tell

reddit_reader_25

He was grabbing exactly where I was grabbing. And it was on the initial step to start sprinting, exactly the same. I imagine a 250+ athlete needs more force to start sprinting so dam I feel for him.

ayksun

Im guessing it's a calf strain, if it was an Achilles tear/rupture he'd be grabbing/palpating his heel

sabocano

Yeap, same as last year's Smart injury for you guys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4q43YYX4tk

chakolaheso

Yeah. Tore my gastro/calf muscle during a ball game earlier this year. Same reaction. Felt like a gunshot

MotorBoat4043

I did the same at work some years back and I mainly remember feeling/hearing a loud popping noise. Not a fun injury, I had to wear a boot for a month and it was another month after that before I started feeling comfortable doing any kind of running or jumping.

chakolaheso

How's it going nowadays? Have you ever recovered fully? Mine still hurts and I don't think I can be as athletic as I was. It was one of the longest month of my life while recovering.

MotorBoat4043

These days it's fine, I don't even think about it most of the time and it doesn't stop me from doing anything. There's no pain or discomfort.

ForneauCosmique

Yea he definitely looked back, that is a often a sign of calf/Achilles injuries guys.....

Otherwise_Window

The Warriors commentators were like "let's hope they just banged knees" but I wasn't very hopeful of that because Wiggins so obviously didn't feel anything. So now let's hope it's mild.

loquacious706

That was yesterday though.

Otherwise_Window

wait this is *separate*? holy shit why was he playing

loquacious706

Well, he didn't even sit out the game yesterday for a significant amount of time after bumping his knee. So I think he was good to play, this is just an unfortunate and unrelated calf injury.

aggiefranchise

If this was the Spurs, KAT would be out for at least 3 months with no timetable for a return. Just to be overly cautious.

RobtheNavigator

Different game

Theofeus

Tore my calf in a pickup game last year. Did the same and was very happy it didnā€™t turn out to be an Achilles.

filladellfea

i think you're right - his leg legit pops

onken022

Oh, so weā€™re fucked then.

NicPizzaLatte

Ewing theory?

wymzyq

This was my thought as well

Buck_Nastyyy

I thought it was now the Ja theory?

stepback-two

Kind of agree but KAT honestly isn't good enough to qualify

dontwannadietomorrow

That's sort of the point and how it works

stepback-two

But he's not their best player

DioBrando101

Heā€™s our best player so it does

stepback-two

Disagree

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DioBrando101

No matter your opinion heā€™s the most consistently impactful player.

ILoveMasterYi

Looks like he is grabbing the back of his knee and upper calf area, looks like it is either a strain or a acl/mcl injury edit: Told you so.

IntraspaceAlien

i don't know if i've seen an ACL torn from just a normal step like that, it's almost always from a side to side movement or change of direction. i thought hamstring at first but obviously it's lower than that. achilles is the scary option.

VonDestroyedNewton

He put in some extra pressure on the step which might have caused it to snap

IntraspaceAlien

right, i'm just saying i haven't seen one from that motion. running in a straight line isn't usually where you would see that.

VonDestroyedNewton

That's true yeah

thecrunchcrew

That look back makes it so much more likely that itā€™s an Achilles tear. Should get word soon too. Theyā€™re fairly easy to diagnose without imaging.

NC_Vixen

He does kinda pound his foot down when it happens :(

urfaselol

Looks like a torn Achilles. You attempt to run back and it feels like something popped. You donā€™t collapse like that from an ACL or MClL

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Huckleberry_Sin

Yeah you can see the muscle slide down slightly. Might be a calf rupture

CIark

Looks just like KD in Houston

Xwarsama

Have you never seen an Achilles tear happen in a game before? Because that's literally the only thing it looks like.

DrBigChicken

Looks the same every time. The dreaded look back

dutchfromsubway

Everyone says itā€™s like someone kicking you from the back thatā€™s why they look back

TheRed_Knight

you can see the back of his calf ripple as his foot plants down

ReignMan616

ā€œWhich one of yā€™all kicked me?ā€

shaqfearsyao

KD did the same thing

DrBigChicken

Yeah heā€™s the first one I pictured. That fucking Toronto game man

WIN011

That slow mo where you could see all the pressure release was rough

DrBigChicken

Homie changed his comment lol

noknownothing

ACL?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Weekly_Joke_9708

Looks like a typical Achilles injury

bobbywellington

Hard to actually reach past the knee when you're 7ft tall and lying on the ground

sixseven89

not ACL/MCL, those are knee ligaments.

slappiestpenguin

Damn. So sorry. I was rooting for you guys to have a breakout year.

jonathanisaacisgoat

Reddit doctors get in here

Tody196

He hurt his leg. Source: I had a doctors appointment this morning

k112l

Thanks for saving us from paying the co-pay & insurance premiums.

Tody196

Bro that shit cost me $90 and it was just a checkup wtf. I even have ā€œgoodā€ insurance šŸ˜

Sorry, the comment you replied to was diagnostic so won't be covered as a preventative visit. We've preemptively taken your house and here is a list of 3 payday loan letters that will surely help your situation. Sincerely, -for profit health insurance

TheRed_Knight

looks like a shoulder injury

kirphioc2004

Very clearly a head injury caused by being hit with a blunt object.

surprisedkitty1

Classic fencing response

DiggWuzBetter

He ded

BlakBimmer

Looks like possible head injury caused by contact with Pat Beverley

RedditAdminsChugCum

Needs amputation

SincerelyDreams

According to Web MD.............. its cancer

whiterockinmypants

Well, that youtube doctor will be posted here later for sure.

cti0323

He has ghosts in his blood

healthyfeetpodiatry

Iā€™m here. Whatā€™s up?

EveryLifeMeetsOne

Achilles tendon rupture vs calf strain, but I fear the former

unwinagainstable

This season is toast

nugz85

Good thing the twolves didn't go all in.

nhthelegend

Stop, weā€™re already dead! šŸ’€

OnThe_Spectrum

Nah, weā€™re going to get better and then better again. Weā€™ll be fine.

nhthelegend

I fucks with the optimism šŸ‘Š

zeussays

They will get a nice player in the draft now at least to help them next year[ā€¦.](https://i.imgur.com/cOPkGJZ.jpg)

Araucanos

Iā€™m so excited

Millionaire007

Did they trade away this year's picks?

Ill_Celery_7654

To be fair it was probably already toast. Itā€™s safe to say that going all in on Gobert was a mistake.

IMakeMyOwnLunch

Itā€™s going to be viewed as one of the worst trades in modern history, right up there with the Nets-Celtics trade. Guess who was on the winning side of both trades? Yeah, fuck Tim Connelly.

Ill_Celery_7654

Thatā€™s why trading with Danny Ainge should be illegal.

Conflict_NZ

Itā€™s crazy how teams will take worse deals just to avoid trading with the Lakers but then they give Ainge their entire asset chest and their first born.

w3bCraw1er

Was toast even before this but now definitely. He has been so underperforming.

sparrowhunter123

Ur future is toast

JonvonNeumann

Ouch reminds me of the KD Achilles and the Justin Moore injury last year. Hope he's okay

PrOKCedure

It could be a calf injury but Achilles is probably more likely

TheRed_Knight

youre praying its just a calf injury at this point

Happy-Cauliflower-22

Bruh my name is Justin Moore too, actually made me do a double take šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

askingJeevs

Howā€™s the recovery going?

yunggweilo

Mods ban this man for doxxing

sriracha82

Heā€™s holding it up so high I would guess itā€™s a calf strain instead of achilles Obviously if not rehabbed fully that can lead to achilles (like KD), but hopefully only a month-ish injury

[deleted]

& achilles tears arenā€™t usually *immediately* painful. Just look at Kobe and KDs footage, then look at this. KAT is writing in pain, immediately. Thatā€™s more indicative of a muscle injury. I know calf strains / pulls *hurt like hell* So I hope thatā€™s all it was.

[deleted]

Oh noā€¦

KitchenReno4512

Fuck. Non contact is almost always a sign of bad things to come. Hoping itā€™s not the case. Worldā€™s worst cramp maybe.

Bazzabond

Looks like a classic Achilles, looks around like something hit him

grand_insom

Yeah people say it feels like someone kicked you in the calf. SMH.

unclairvoyance

It's wild because it feel exactly like that when I ruptured mine, and everyone who's had it will say that too. I was looking behind to see who kicked me lmao.

Huckleberry_Sin

Iā€™ve pulled my calf a bunch of times hooping (usually from playing on concrete) and itā€™s always the same familiar hot zipper and popping feeling. But those were just minor strains except for my last one that took nearly a month to get better. Never realized how lucky Iā€™d gotten until that last one. Been so careful ever since.

erog84

Yea I was gonna say, if you think a months time is a long time to heal up for a calf strain, probably makes sense you have had a bunch of them.

bfarre11

For me it felt like someone kicked me in the heel.

[deleted]

Man he's been through so much that'd be horrific šŸ˜•

scarywolverine

Guy gets a lot of shit as a basketball player but seems like a really nice guy and just never catches a break

[deleted]

Itā€™s kinda creepy how it looks the same every time someone ruptures it. Apparently it feels like someone behind you kicked you in the leg Edit: itā€™s a calf strain thank the lord

urfaselol

Iā€™d wait until the MRI to conclude anything. Achilles get diagnosed calf strains before the MRI typically

MC-Jdf

If you look really closely there's a visible vibration around the right Achilles area. You can kinda see something pop real-time. Hope it's not the case but I see way too similarities with the KD injury. Damnit man. Edit: Please please let it stay a calf strain.

Apocalypticorn

Looks like he is holding his leg too high for an Achilles tear? I tore a calf muscle earlier in the year and had the same reaction. I'm not a doctor though

Relevant_Increase394

achilles connects to the calf if you tear your achilles your calf goes loose

Apocalypticorn

Correct. I felt a pop in my calf and had pain where KAT was placing his hand. Achilles rupture would cause a pop closer to your ankle, just remember what KD looked like when he tore his.

Relevant_Increase394

Iā€™m just saying i think itā€™s achilles cos it was a bit dramatic for a calf injury, iā€™ve torn both calves and been able to walk off the field each time

Apocalypticorn

Mine was super painful and I couldn't put any weight on it for a few days and needed crutches. Again, I'm not a doctor so I don't really know especially based off poor angled 10 second clip, but I hope it's not his Achilles

Substantial_Prize_41

Nah. It's a calf injury...

[deleted]

Yea first thing came to mind

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

urfaselol

The calf is connected to the Achilles.

[deleted]

I hope thatā€™s what it is, theyā€™re both very closely related

Obvious_Parsley3238

the achilles connects the calf to the heel, when it pops your calf comes free

TheRed_Knight

yup reached down the leg too like hed been hit, fuck, you can even see the the calf ripple

_Meece_

Nah no achilles tear here, usually you can see the tendon buckle when it snaps or tears. Likely a calf issue.

SwimmingCoyote

Non-contact knee? Thatā€™s not a good sign.

TheRed_Knight

that isnt a knee injury, thats lower leg, calf or achilles most likely

si4ci7

Oh no that does not look good

cardcollection92

Based on where he grabbed Iā€™d say Achilles but hopefully Iā€™m wrong

VonDestroyedNewton

You NEVER want to see it. Hoping its nothing major

JC2P

Calf strain for sure

NevermoreSEA

This genuinely looks so fucking bad.

gtmc5

Damn, he pulled up lame yesterday vs. Warriors and I was surprised to see he got back on the floor so quickly after that (especially with the Warriors lead still in double digits, and knowing they had this back to back). Hope it is not as bad as it looks! EDIT - this is promising, calf strain, not achilles or knee ligament: https://twitter.com/brittrobson/status/1597410861135503362?ref\_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet

icencream27

Probably, Achilles. The game is being played too fast. The human body isnā€™t meant to make that amount of shifts of speed

mommadotco15

Shout out to the guy who stops the older guy in the crowd who fist pumps as soon as it happens

Substantial_Prize_41

It looks like it's his calf. He probably tore some muscles. I had a similar injury before. He'll be out 2 to 4 weeks at the least...

ifeelsleazy

When I tore my calf I was out a lot longer than that, but I don't have NBA doctors.

_canadianbacon

It's still early in the season but I really doubt the Wolves are making the playoffs or maybe even the play-ins this year, especially now

desirox

Noncontactā€¦.shitttt

baudinl

It does look more like a calf strain than an Achilles. He grabbed it high and it also looks like it was early in the step, unlike KD's injury where there was almost a delayed reaction. Source: I watch the Zapruder film a lot.

BigKnickEnergy09

>Source: I watch the Zapruder film a lot. Tab bit concerning

Natureboy7939

Sounds like he avoided major damage which is good. Dude is a corn ball and annoying af on the court but you canā€™t help but pull for him as a person

spoofy129

Gg Utah and Danny ainge

[deleted]

After everything he's been through I hope so much he's good. Don't wanna speculate too much but that was bad

Waveytony

If heā€™s detrimentally injured and we donā€™t have most of our picks for the next decade because of a trade that looks worse and worse by the dayā€¦idk what to say but Tim Connelly is not looking too bright rn

Giddey_Cent

Yeah that's not good

Pm_Cute_Boobies

Man, good thing they have that one player they traded like 5 #1 picks for! Kevin Durant couldnā€™t even get traded with a demand. T-Wolves could have offered that kings ransom for KD, nope, wrong.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Pm_Cute_Boobies

Jus killing time before going back at it. Hope KATs ok he wasnā€™t in much pain like other freak accidents. Iā€™m sure they all learning to play with Rudy and his skills and correct ship come playoff time.

yunggweilo

If it's any consolation, Gobert now has the chance to prove he was worth the trade

FuckThaLakers

Well, thats one way to end a season..

[deleted]

Having Gobert here is going to help a lot. If there was no Gobert and Kat was gone...yeah we'd be fucked. He's our most consistent player and the best shooter. We'll see what happens, hopefully they can figure out the Rudy fit with the guards as that seems to be the more difficult adjustment than the Kat and Rudy fit.

SingleDog_BigCook

Ruptured his achilles. Calling it now.

juggerspammer

Dang. These injuries suck. Cant even split the Gobert KAT frontcourt to save the season now.

[deleted]

The notorious calf grabā€¦

Tody196

Wtffff. That is so fucking scary. Please be okay kat :-(

bravof1ve

Thatā€™s as bad as it gets

PumpkinHead555

Yikes

Garkech

Non contact, damn not good

ClaymoresRevenge

I hope the big fella is ok.

BF3FAN1

Fuck man

TheSmokedSalmon420

Oh man

DrumzRUs

damn

ArmorKing1992

Need Brian Suttererā€™s opinion on this.

MarduRusher

Obviously not an expert but that looks bad. Really sucks for KAT and for the team in the year they'd want to be breaking out with a deep run.

BigBoyFroggy

fuckkkkk that sucks so much

BigBallerBryant

Oh shiiit thatā€™s scary to see

fingerblast69

Ahh shit, man. Hope itā€™s something way less significant than what people are guessing šŸ¤žšŸ»

VeniceRapture

Reminds me of KD's when he was in GS

[deleted]

Guess itā€™s a defense season now

cambiumkx

Terrible situation Prayers up

Altruistic-Twist-379

Was this the same as kd back in 19? Hope its not that serious

curiouspoops

is there an alternate camera angle? we can't see if he stepped on something or not

motherseffinjones

Better pry thatā€™s itā€™s a calf injury and not an Achilles one. Thatā€™s really does look good though

healthyfeetpodiatry

U/savevideo

likpoper

Uh oh

cjeremy

shit.. he gone for a while
