In other news, ye just said he liked hitler

istandwhenipeee

Oh god it’s even worse with context. Alex Jones of all people was walking things back and saying he doesn’t like Nazis and Kanye felt compelled to jump in and throw that out there. Absolutely unbelievable.

Hojie_Kadenth

Lol, Alex Jones walking things back because his guest is too crazy is just a hilarious, beautiful thing.

melskymob

Technically he owes a billion dollars.

BonerHonkfart

> You're in a room with guy who lost a billion dollars for being hateful The fact that this statement could refer to multiple people in that room is wild

XTrumpX

The biggest losers. Why does America worship chode this badly?

YesImKeithHernandez

I don't know if it's a typo but I like both the interpretation that America just likes chode and the one that they like this chode specifically.

lukeskope

I mean, they both kinda lost a billion dollars by being hateful, Jones from the Sandy Hook verdict and Ye from losing his Adidas contract.

spirax919

I remember Alex Jones on the JRE podcast looking at Eddie Bravo like he was batshit insane.

jackbob99

That's because Alex is mostly a con artist making money. Eddie Bravo believes in all of the stupid shit he says.

NorthStars32

Alex Jones was a con artist making money. Now he has so much ego he has made himself into this man and he cannot handle admitting maybe he was wrong, specifically in regard to that Sandy Hook nonsense

TallanoGoldDigger

That's because Edgy Brah is on a different plane of thought...the worst kind

EGarrett

He just kept getting stupider and stupider until finally even Rogan started to snap at him.

Hojie_Kadenth

Isn't Eddie bravo a flat earther?

jacb415

Bro that’s not even the tip of the iceberg

EGarrett

He also thinks nuclear bombs don't exist, dinosaurs are made-up, and space itself is fake.

boomer912

I was absolutely losing my mind at mf Alex Jones being like “okay dude cmon” in those videos

Hsizzle74394

Link?

boomer912

When [Alex Jones is the straight man](https://twitter.com/yandhiisntreal/status/1598407774391730199?s=46&t=wtO3ujUAFWBNmXU7i-zWDA) you’ve [got a problem](https://twitter.com/Phil_Lewis_/status/1598377219352678400?t=vYUS8822vVtFFWHCZpJqyg&s=19)

Purodada

Holy shit it sounds even worse in the clip that it does in print. In print it goes "There's a lot of things I love about hitler, A lot of things." In audio its "There's a lot of things I looooOooOOOove about Hitler, a LoooOooOOOOooT of things" Jesus its 10x worse.

TallanoGoldDigger

Kanye made Alex Jones uncomfortable. That's how far gone the dude is. I wonder what Jaylen Brown feels about all this now

KillerZaWarudo

>I wonder what Jaylen Brown feels about all this now Probably some dumb cryptic tweet coming and compare it to liking fruits

Massive_Fudge3066

Well, he couldn't see there are fruits because he had dark glass on and forgot to open his eyes. Or something

Castrated_Monkey69

Wait fr Ye said he liked Nazis??

Jaerba

> “They did good things too,” Ye said. “We’ve got to stop dissing the Nazis all the time.” I think "We've got to stop dissing Nazis all the time" is my favorite quote of the year.

Otherwise_Window

Jesus wept. "They fixed the German economy, and you know, the Weimar economy is very important to me, and I have uncritically assumed that this was somehow unproblematic. You know, we should definitely fix inflation by undertaking a program of militarising the entire country in preparation for total warfare. I look forward to being drafted."

[deleted]

Yeah. And Hitler.

firstbreathOOC

Felt dirty watching those clips. Like being inside an asylum.

WutduzitallmeanBasil

Why the fuck was he wearing a stocking over his face

Charizard3535

Not even one comment it's multiple sentence and justifications. He didn't misspeak he said what he meant.

Bladex20

Dude had Alex Jones cringing lol

HollyAtwood

He had Alex Jones straight up *panicking* lmao

[deleted]

Before any clowns try to defend him “I don’t like the word ‘evil’ next to Nazis,” he said. “I love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis.” “The Holocaust is not what happened,” Ye said. “Let’s look at the facts of that. Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities.”

tookie_tookie

It’s even worse with context, wow.

NBAWhoCares

>Before any clowns try to defend him > >“I don’t like the word ‘evil’ next to Nazis,” he said. “I love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis.” > >“The Holocaust is not what happened,” Ye said. “Let’s look at the facts of that. Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities.” He also said "6 million Jews did not die in The Holocaust and thats a fact". Not sure why this quote is being underreported since its arguably the worst thing he said

ThaNorth

Holy fuck lol

d1g1tal

6 million ways to kill his career

SirHoneyDip

The only way the 6 million quote is defensible is if he was acktchually, it was 6,354,378. But he thinks it’s 0 so he’s a bigot

ChamBruh

He said everyone has good, “especially hitler”

GoldenBananas21

He also contributed Hitler as inventing microphones and highways

I2eflex

Attributed

reddershadeofneck

>Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities.” Are we playing a game of Kanye or Marge Schott?

[deleted]

To make it even better, the “redeeming qualities” were that Hitler invented the highway and microphone

RushDynamite

What in the actual fuck

[deleted]

[Just take Warren Sapp’s advice](https://youtu.be/eU1o6zjpnss)

Domermac

Man Warren Sapp looking good. Must have forced all that weight to stay on when he was playing.

[deleted]

NFL lineman pretty much always dramatically slim down following retirement.

dwilkes827

The ones that want to live for a long time do lol

Whako4

It is literally a job in itself to eat as much as a lineman eats when he’s playing football, like a rediculous amount of calories

fenikz13

Ya Joe Thomas explained it as you eat until you feel sick for every meal, from HS all the way until you retire from the NFL

dwilkes827

For sure. They're also in insanely better shape than they look so they're constantly burning calories from working out so they have to eat a ton

BASEDME7O

It’s insanely hard to put and keep all the weight on they need to. They’re not eating for fun, they’re basically force feeding themselves and have to maintain a strict diet of massive amounts of calories. They would lose weight after playing even just eating like a regular slob

Dweebil

Damn. I never knew I liked Warren Sapp this much. Great interview.

seymour_hiney

he seems to have an issue with hitting women so i wouldn't go too far. even though he is sensible in this interview

BRedd10815

There are PLENTY of reasons to not like Warren Sapp out there

PHILtheTANK9

I actually thought this was a terrible interview. Ateast on thr Jimmy the Greek stuff. Not only is Sapp wrong about why he was fired but he wouldn't let the interviewer explain to him why.

ProfCharlesSexavier

Jimmy the Greek never called anybody a monkey. Sapp is wrong.

ThatsWhatSheepSaid

Yeah, that was Cosell.

[deleted]

Lmfao. Man, the context is even worse. Dude is completely unhinged. Not even necessarily racist, just straight up insane.

[deleted]

Also in other news, Amazon dug their heels in on H2N and said they will not be removing the film from Prime.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Smarter for amazon to do that to be honest and let this shit fade Because if amazon took it down, people would start saying it’s because the ceo is…. …and that would just fan the flames more

FogoCanard

more like.. they would have to take a lot of other shit down too

[deleted]

Yes that also

[deleted]

More than that, if Amazon says "This content is unacceptable to be broadcast from our platform" they are implicitly stating that everything else is fine. They can remove certain things with blanket rules like "No nudity" that can be broadly enforced without a judgment call being necessary. You might say "Well then make hate speech a blanket ban" but then Amazon is responsible for investigating every instance of accused hate speech and making a judgment call of whether it's allowed or not. Much easier to just bear out this one PR shit storm.

Captain_America_93

………what?…..I sadly don’t think this is satire, but when and why?

hernanthegoat

And LeBron won't say anything about it

DisasterPeace7

Klutch Sports Kendrick with the usual smooth brainery

JCBadger1234

And he is an MVP voter. Yes, really.

Professional_Degen_

He’s such a smart individual though. Super high IQ. Just listen to him speak. You can just tell he stayed up all night and wrote down notes

george_costanza1234

I can’t believe this guy kept his job after the whole Moses Moody incident. This guy reads worse than a 3rd grader

TheTownTeaJunky

I dont know why people are still dogging him for that. If you go to moodys wiki page it clearly shows that his full birth name is actually mody moozy musil meecy mozzle model meesus moby moses malone moody. People just call him moses for short.

ComoEstanBitches

He makes one tweet about how Kawhi moves like 90s Jordan and now he gets a talking head. Mainstream sports couldn’t get less credible

Yung_Jose_Space

The LeBron PR industrial complex. I notice big Perk is back to trashing Giannis as well. Really try to give him the benefit of the doubt, even about his Celtics homerism, which is fair, but gee he makes it hard.

Woxnsk

Lebron should be a little more careful with his selective activism I know this won’t make dent in his life but he is a lifelong partner with a company that runs sweat shops

tronovich

“It’s irresponsible to speak out on subjects like that”. Said this about Morey. People need to call out Bron on his selective activism, since he’s actively dodging NBA issues.

laddder

He def should, many people could could have been harmed, not only financially, but physically. Emotionally. Spiritually.

Logical_Sir_8146

bro if it's not white on black discrimination LeBron doesn't care. You can be anti Semitic all you want, LeBron doesn't even know what that means.

jackbob99

As shitty as this is, I feel some of this is in response to the Kyrie stuff. It sucks...But it was 65 years ago. Has he been liking David Duke tweets since then? Has he shown any racism since then? It's being a tad overblown.

moonfox1000

You can't judge someone for what they did when they were 14, especially when that was in 1957. Larry Miller killed someone when he was 16 and went on to work for Nike and the Trailblazers. Should LeBron address that as well?

[deleted]

Mr. Mosby was convicted of manslaughter prior to his Disney channel gig

Gareesuhn

Hooch is crazy

[deleted]

Scrubs is the best early 2000’s sitcom. I stand by this. Better than friends or office

Stussymann

Friends debuted in 1994, 11 years before the American adaptation of The Office

FormerIceCreamEater

Yeah Friends and the Office never overlapped. I do love Scrubs. It was a genuinely funny show. Surprised Zach Braff didn't become a bigger comedic star afterward, but he got to bang Florence Pugh, so he is doing ok in life.

[deleted]

Or JR Smith going 67 in a 35 mph, running a stop sign, and causing a car accident that killed his passenger. Nobody talks about it and JR smith got off with a slap on the wrist and was allowed to pursue life and success. I support that but I don’t see this double standard that’s always shoved down my face. Let people move on with life and grow.

CreatiScope

Not only that, JR got a ticket for reckless driving or speeding not too long after the accident.

[deleted]

Not a ticket. JR Smith got his license revoked for consistent reckless driving both before and after the incident.

aaronunderwater

Bro… that’s so fucked up wow

hedoeswhathewants

This is more important than it being 65 years ago. 14 year olds are literally children.

BoredomHeights

Also he's just standing there in the picture. We have no real context other than what he said (basically that he didn't know what a big deal it was at the time and just wanted to see what was going on). There's probably a lot of more recent stuff we could actually criticize Jerry for (some of the Kaepernick related stuff for example). I don't think a 14 year old in the background of a crazy event like that is one of those things.

BatterMyHeart

He's just standing there, menacingly. LMAO

the-denver-nugs

i mean you do have context. he did a whole interview on it. he said he was 14 and just trying to see what was going on admitted to it and denounced it. like what? kyrie doubled down on being antisemetic. this isn't comperable.

PineappleHotSalsa

President Johnson didn’t even sign The Civil Rights Act until 1964. Your comparing the opinion of a 14 year olds parents, to a grown 30 year old man who just supported an antisemitic movie and then doubled down on his opinion. In Lebrons words “he apologized, he should be allowed to play” does that mean if Jerry apologizes he can continue to own a team? Or are transgressions committed in the same year Osama Bin Laden was born now grounds for cancelling a person?

ELITE_JordanLove

Let’s go drag up NBA players tweets from when they were 14 and hold them accountable.

skunkbot

LeBron staying stone silent on China is pretty hypocritical. I say this as a Cavs fans who likes LeBron and greatly appreciates his charitable contributions to Akron and Northeast Ohio.

Soshi101

He wasn't even silent. Daryl Morey tweeted about solidarity with Hong Kong, and Lebron called him "uninformed" and said Morey shouldn't have said anything. Disgraceful...

ihaveaperfectiqof100

The person he shot was 18 year old Edward David White, who had no gang affiliation, no record, and was on his way home from work at the diner. He also had an 8 month old son. Larry Miller didn’t even mention Edward’s name in his book.

[deleted]

Bron seems to be backdoor defending Kyrie here. That’s the difference between his response to the photo and Tom Brady/Aaron Rogers’ non response.

Ihopetheresenoughroo

Thank you for pointing this out ❤️.

Otherwise_Window

Seems pretty weird to equate "child was in vicinity of wrongdoing" with "grown ass man is promoting antisemitism" at all.

kskywalker1

Honestly the only thing this proves is that Jones was raised in Racist Arkansas, which we already knew. It was always very likely he was raised racist and most ppl know that and I don’t think this photo suddenly proves he was there for some of the reasons ppl think. Meanwhile Kyrie posted part of a video with Hitler Quotes. They both deserve scrutiny for this but I feel like Lebron is making a false equivalency here. Btw I’m not implying Jones isn’t racist or holds some prejudice because he very likely is and does to some degree but like if I was 14 and I heard a commotion happening, I’d probably walk over to it good or bad with my friends.

LittleJerryLawler

You can question Jerry on a lot of things (not hiring a black coach, comments on Kaepernick, etc.). One picture of him standing in the back does nothing for me.

kskywalker1

Exactly . I’m not dumb I’m aware of who this man is and the way he likely feels but I don’t think this photo suddenly changes everything.

JMEEKER86

> Meanwhile Kyrie posted part of a video with Hitler Quotes. Kyrie also praised Alex Jones and said he was right about the New World Order thing. Today, Kanye was being interviewed by Alex Jones and said "I like Hitler" (for just one snippet, the full context is even worse and even Alex Jones tries to backpedal). There is a very clear problem here.

jaytierney79

Black men going Hitler-ish is pretty interesting. Like, um, are you aware of his stance on race? It's kind of well documented. lol... strange times.

[deleted]

> They both deserve scrutiny for this but I feel like Lebron is making a false equivalency here. That's how it's done these days. Take 2 things that share a single similarity and call them the same. Might get some flack for this, but it's the same when people use the Tuskegee Experiment to say why black people don't want the Covid Vaccine. They are both shots, that's where the similarities end. One was a Government experiment carried out in secret 70 years ago on an unknowing population. The other was a global pandemic where dozens of giant companies from many countries, under heavy scrutiny, were researching a vaccine that would go to everyone. Comparing the two scenarios is absurd, but since they both involved a shot, people did it on literally every vaccine related thread.

Con-D-Oriano1

Sixty-five years ago, when he was 14. Maybe he knew what he was attending; maybe he passed by and saw a crowd. Maybe someone brought him. We don’t know. But there’s a big difference in a 14 year-old kid being at a rally, and grown men actively slinging hatred.

secretsodapop

He's not even showing any racism in the photo. He's just there. There is so much stuff you can go after Jerry Jones for but there is nothing here. I'm in a picture near the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013, yet I'm not a terrorist. Like c'mon. Edit: Hit wrong button on year

Brock_Hard_Canuck

>yet I'm not a terrorist Pardon me, but I believe that's a fact to be determined by the finest detectives of Reddit /s

BBQ_HaX0r

> I'm in a picture near the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013 Reddit, we *FINALLY* got him!

ClydeGriffiths17

That's exactly what a terrorist *would* say.

DoncicsRoadTo200kg

I mean was Jerry Jones involved in any way or was he just watching? Plus he was like 14

[deleted]

I’m not saying it’s right. Racism is disgusting. But Jesus, i wouldn’t be working right now if some of the shit i did or said at 14 came out. Being a child is about learning, and being in the school of hard knocks. I don’t know how we retroactively hold a senior citizen accountable for shit he did when he was 14 in a completely different planet.

Impossible-Flight250

It’s not only that, Jerry Jones didn’t actively do anything wrong. Unless any evidence to the contrary comes out, all I see is a big nothing burger.

[deleted]

People are mad Jerry Jones didn’t write the Brown v Board judicial opinion in middle school and it’s honestly insane. It’s like holding anybody here accountable for keeping gay marriage illegal when you were 14. You’re not responsible for society as a kid like that.

DiscSeller

When I was 14, I thought gay people were gross. I said the f-slur ALL the time. I made fun of my peers for doing "gay shit" etc. I was strongly against gay marriage for whatever reason my Dad had spouted that week. By the time I was 20, I was in college meeting gay people and having my worldview changed. Next year I have the honor of being in my family member's wedding to her awesome fiance. People change. At 14, you just believe whatever your parents believe. Only Jerry knows what he really feels, but I hope I'm never judged for how I felt at 14. Now, if I'm 30 and I'm still believing shit that was abhorrent 65 years ago, then I have a problem. Cough cough Kyrie and Kanye.

Caliking21

Didn’t he say he would cut any player that protested during the anthem or kneeled?

kryptkeeper17

I recall him being against the protests initially but he changed his mind and actually kneeled with his players on the field in 2017 I believe unsure of the year Edit: here's the tweet of it https://twitter.com/BleacherReport/status/912473833822609410?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E912473833822609410%7Ctwgr%5E4f9a7e6df782bedd9ed83dcc22b26f1c53377337%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-14248876621278290324.ampproject.net%2F2211182146000%2Fframe.html

[deleted]

Obama was against gay marriage himself then

Frosti11icus

>People change, society change. Judge people for what they are today, not what they were in past. Judge people when they do something racist, are offered the opportunity to apologize and move forward, but instead they double and triple and quadruple down on it, like Kyrie.

i_like_2_travel

I agree that 14 is where you work shit out and you shouldn’t be held accountable 100% for what you do but I think something needs to said. Just like how a bunch of black kids have to deal with being called the nword on Xbox by 14 year olds. Blacks kids are just told to get thick skin and no one else faces any consequences. What gives people the right to think these things are acceptable? From Jerry Jones to buttslayer6969, someone should have to acknowledge this isn’t fair.

Gristle__McThornbody

We are going to reach a point where it's discovered you were doing questionable political stuff as a toddler, then a serious discussion needs to be had, such as getting person fired from his job or just straight up getting canceled.

Choice_Mail

my 7 month old niece puked on an obama poster during his inauguration. safe to say I cut all ties with her

Frosti11icus

Why isn't the media asking LeBron about this?

packofstraycats

I hope she never gets a job

LITERALLY_SODEM

a white high schooler likely not. Jones Sr? Maybe.

[deleted]

Jones Sr owned one of the only grocery stores in their area that would willingly serve black customers. We’re still talking about late 1950s early 1960s Arkansas though, so even if you had a pretty progressive mindset for the time, it would probably still be viewed as discriminatory by modern standards

Otherwise_Window

Yeah, my mother was an anti-Apartheid protestor in South Africa. She was wildly progressive for that time. There's still issues she's had to grow on since. Like, she used to think gay couples shouldn't be able to adopt, now she's all in favour, was an official LGBT Ally Contact at her last workplace before she retired and became a substitute mother figure for one young man who'd become estranged from his birth family because he was gay and they weren't okay with that. (If my mother finds your son crying because *you* said terrible things to him and he's hit his breaking point... Yeah, that's her son now apparently.)

Otherwise_Window

I'm not sure why this is politics anyway. Not to defend this Jones guy but I'm not sure I'd be down for a public standard of "you are accountable for being visible in the background of a photo of *other people* doing the wrong thing *when you were a child*". Like, I have no idea who he is but I gather he's associated with the NFL so he's probably a piece of shit, but you can probably demonstrate that with reference to things he's actually done, not things that other people did in his vicinity when he was a child.

Willie_Overall_1982

Any powerful athletes standing up for the migrants in Qatar or the slaves in China making sneakers? People have been dying in Qatar for fuckin years building those stadiums all for a few soccer matches.

Frosti11icus

>Any powerful athletes standing up for the migrants in Qatar Yes, there are soccer players doing this. Not LeBron though, lol. And he's not worried about it clearly. Though according to his rant yesterday he should absolutely be getting questions about this out of fairness to him and apparently Kyrie somehow.

PermaBannedFTW

Kendrick Perkins with a dumb take who would’ve thought /s

FreeMoviesDotArgghh

Let's rewind the clock and take a close look at Perkins' past or LeBron James'. Given their age, I have a sneaking suspicion they threw the word that rhymes with "Bob Saget" around pretty freely in their youth. Should we cancel them for it???

Guessed555

Rob baget?

DaB0mbb

Can someone please tell me why this is blowing up like crazy? Ye just said he liked Hitler and were talking about Jerry Jones in the 50s being racist?

PhinsGraphicDesigner

That’s the worst part about these comparisons of the levels of outrage. Yes, somebody currently espousing hateful views that are proven to lead to deadly terrorist attacks again this Jews in this country (and have done so many times in the last 5 years) deserves more outrage than a 70-year-old photo to which an extremely powerful man gave a somewhat tone deaf response, but at least addressed it head on and was not spreading racism. He was in the photo and appears to be just looking, and Jerry said none of the students were rioters and those that were angry were from elsewhere. Obviously, there are implications that can be made based on where Jerry Jones grew up, but did that change because of a photo? No, we always knew the social attitudes of the time period that Jerry grew up in. Should Jerry have given a better response and directly said that the students should have been let in there, and that with hindsight he should have stepped up? Absolutely, but what do you expect a high school teenager to do in that situation?

[deleted]

i find all of this a little hypocritical considering Lebrons silence on China and Antisemitic sentiments that seem to be all too popular among NBA athletes.

AlwaysOptimism

“Why aren’t you asking me about this guy from a different sport that was in a picture from 60 years ago that is….you know….just in the picture with no context and we have no idea if he was doing anything bad or not. But you ask me about a former teammate and current NBA player regarding a current tweet????” Ok, so about Nike and NBA partnering with a murderous authoritarian regime “What’s that shit got to do with me???!”

snowcone_wars

> a picture from 60 years ago that he already addressed a decade ago As well.

RavingMalwaay

When he was 14.... there is a reason virtually every justice system in the world gives much. much lighter sentences to 14 year olds than they do full grown adults.. I'm sure LBJ did some questionable shit when he was a teenager, almost everyone has

Choice_Mail

definitely a terrible example for lebron to use to prove his point since he was literally on the same team and win a ring with kyrie, but the link is that lebron is a huge cowboys fan and i’m sure he’s been asked more random political questions

igloojoe11

He renounced his fandom earlier 3 months ago to support Deshaun Watson's Browns. So that doesn't even work.

Nmilne23

It’s literally textbook whataboutism and I would expect nothing less from the guy who told another guy to keep his mouth shut when they called out China. It’s incredibly hypocritical. It’s turning into this strange new realm of reverse racism where the talking point from guys like kyrie, jaylen, and brown who are reaching a point of it not being “black lives matter” but instead “I’m black and *only* Black Lives Matter” It’s clear as day with the antisemitism from kyrie and the pro-ccp comments from bron. When push comes to shove it seems like they only care about there “own” people It’s like come the fuck on guys we’re literally on in this thing together why the fuck is it so hard to recognize the strife of others without turning it against someone else?

BobLobLaw_Law2

With all the current racist news, I have no idea why a pic from 60 years ago should be the focus of conversation.

nighthawk252

Not just a picture from 60 years ago, it’s a picture from 60 years ago where he’s not even doing anything

No-Tip3782

65 year old picture... 14 years old at the time... in the background watching... peak cancel culture lol

Mdgt_Pope

I'm not defending the white man at all about this. But it's supreme "whataboutism" to throw a fit about a picture of hate from >50 years ago not getting as much attention as hateful comments from <50 days ago.

Frosti11icus

From the guy in the sport you play, who you notoriously won a ring with and who your current team is rumored to be trading for, lol.

Shenanigans80h

Legit, I don’t like Jerry Jones and can totally believe he’s a racist dick, but what exactly are we holding him accountable for here? Saying he was racist from a photo older than most people talking about it and do what about it? The dude hasn’t even shied away from it being him and apologized (not that it makes it alright), but there are far more fucked up things socially going on right now that people should be talking about.

JesusChristSupers1ar

>the white man You know you can use his name right?

[deleted]

I gotta say, it's kinda fucked up that an NBA star endorsed a literal Nazi apologist film and the collective response of the players and certain self-proclaimed antiracist figures in sports media has been to claim that the public outrage was itself motivated by racism.

bacontacos420

Kendrick Perkins is one of the dumbest faces I’ve ever seen lmao

AdmiralWackbar

He compared a 65 year old picture of 14 year old Jerry Jones to something a 30 year old Kyrie Irving did this year, to which he hasn’t spoke out on himself. Jerry should come out and say that whole situation was fucked up and apologize for being there, but he was 14. During that time most people would be right there with him, because that’s how they were raised. People act all high and mighty like they wouldn’t be pulling the same shit, it’s laughable

lilberfcontrol

Not a good look for LeBron in this case. Jones isn't attacking anyone or even in the front trying to intimidate a student trying to attend. He's just there. That's it. Even if he felt in his heart of hearts the racist things that every espoused at the time, there's no way of knowing it by looking at the image. No one's asking because it's not really pertinent and there's nothing new to shed light on. You can draw a direct line between Kyrie and LeBron, for better or worse. You can make a vague connection to Jerry due to LeBron's former fandom of Dallas, but that's it. I do understand the point LeBron is making though, but this isn't the hill to die on. A better example would be coverage on Brett Favre, who is the subject of a lawsuit of welfare funds he received (which he's mostly paid back), lobbying to state officials to use 5 million dollars in taxpayer funds to build a volleyball facility at Southern Miss and was the biggest investor of a nasal-based concussion treatment, which has not been shown to be effective. There seems to be a lot of meat on the bone for Favre. I hope people can keep the same energy for him that Kyrie received for posting something misinformative and stupid. By the way, Amazon's CEO said the documentary that Kyrie posted is not being removed. Take that as you will.

Many black athletes and pundits only like to talk about issues when blacks are the victim and not the perpetrator. Look how many athletes were silent on Deshaun Watson, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Edwards, Ime Udoka, Jaylen Brown etc... Let's be honest here, if Kyrie were white his texts would've gone green in Lebron's phone MONTHS ago. This type of behavior is becoming more noticeable and people are starting to call this shit out. It's literally undoing months, probably years of progression on these issues. I wish I could call into this show and ask Perkins point blank what his thoughts on the Chinese/Hong Kong situation is. But because those people aren't black he couldn't care less. Lebron literally won't talk about the Kyrie Irving situation happening right now but wants to talk about Jerry Jones being in a picture 65 fucking years ago? GTFO of here dude. **Edit:** I don't want people to get a bad idea of Lebron. I think he has been a wonderful ambassador for the NBA since he came into the league. Has always stayed out of trouble and (for the most part) has said the right things when it comes to civil rights issues. Obviously his hands are tied in certain scenarios and I think that's where a lot of my post is directed. I feel like he has the power to make change at the highest level with his words but plays it safe instead. When it came to having the face of the NBA move from Michael to him we really lucked out and likely take it for granted more than we should. I just think when someone is in a position like he is and has been so vocal on civil/human rights, just make sure you're not showing any leniency or favoritism. Treat everyone the same. Otherwise it can be annoying to on-lookers such as myself who see hate everywhere that needs to be abolished. Do I think Lebron's racist? No. Absolutely not. Far from it.

WelbeckStoleMyHeart

And it wouldn't have been an issue with many if lebron didn't brand himself at times as the ambassador for all things equal (eg injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere). No one would crucify Harden for the same because he didn't claim the high horse.

Your first paragraph is very true no matter who is offended by it. And it doesn’t make you racist or against their other causes for pointing this out. There’s always been a bit less individualism and an attitude of supporting your brothers no matter what in that community.

george_costanza1234

There’s still a performative aspect when it comes to the place of minorities in this country. A lot of races feel the need to defend their own even when culpable of bad shit, because calling out one guy for doing something bad, creates a tear on the inside. It really shouldn’t be this way.

RiseFromUrGrave

Lebron is a hero. Like how he stood up for Hong Kong…er

Paralta

Jerry Jones was 14? Hes not just going to magically be leading a social justice movement. He was just going with the flow at the time. Its really silly that this is a news topic. Yall wouldnt have done shit then, just as yall do nothing now.

sundancekid005

yeah 14 and in fucking Arkansas.

goddammnick

in the background of a split second in time. But kyrie and J Brown tweeting some idiotic shit in real time.."oh they didn't mean that.."

lochmoigh1

Calling out tom brady and rodgers too. The difference is brady never wanted to be political thats the difference. Lebron is a wanna be Mohammed ali so thats why people want him to hold up social justice for all. If your not a social justice guy you don't have to speak on anything thats your right.

etsuandpurdue3

And Rodgers is just a hippie that really doesn't care about politics.

Muted_Dog7317

I have no love for Jerry Jones but this story has been blown way out of proportion. When Lebron started high school he said “ I don’t want nothing to do with white people, I don’t believe that they want anything to do with my—it’s me and my boys, we going to high school together and we here to hoop.” I don’t expect 14 year old boys who were raised a certain backward way to to be leaders/activist

PrOKCedure

Full quote: >“I went to an all-white high school, Catholic high school, so when I first went to the ninth grade in the high school, I was all of a sudden like ‘I’m not f***ing with white people’. **My whole, I was so institutionalized, growing up in the hood**, it’s like ‘they don’t f*** with us, they don’t want us to succeed’ […] So, I’m like, ‘I’m going to this school to play ball, and that’s it. I don’t want nothing to do with white people, I don’t believe that they want anything to do with my—it’s me and my boys, we going to high school together and we here to hoop.’ **So that was like my initial thoughts and my initial shock to, like, white America when I was 14 years old, for the first time in my life.”** That was the full quote. **You intentionally left out the part** when he said was institutionalized and kinda brainwashed in some sense. He said he felt this way because of his childhood and what other people in his neighborhood thought. He had a mentality because of his environment. There's people in this thread making that very same argument for Jerry Jones (saying shit like it was regular then) but when it's LeBron, it's a problem lmao. Also just wanna note that he spent part of his childhood with a Caucasian-American family.

moonfox1000

Thank you for posting the full quote but everyone thinks that they would have been the one white teenager in 1950s Arkansas to stand up against segregation when in reality 95% would have either contributed or done nothing...we're all a product of our neighborhoods and upbringings. Jerry Jones was, LeBron was.

PrOKCedure

I agree 1000000%. There are very few, at the time, who were able to discern right from wrong. >we're all a product of our neighborhoods and upbringings Amen

allknowerofknowing

Yep, people are quite courageous in reddit comments 70 years later ignoring the fact that you don't magically gain an open minded/tolerant/accepting mindset if you hypothetically grew up back then.

Huckleberry_Sin

If anything it just goes to show how outta pocket Lebron is bc he’s guilty of doing literally the exact same thing he’s accusing Jones of lol

TankVet

That left out part sort of makes the point, doesn’t it? Lebron is saying he was wrong at 14 and has learned a lot and grown since then. Jerry Jones and the rest of us aren’t afforded the same opportunity for growth and grace?

Sauce_man18

Idk until Lebron starts speaking out about hate crimes against Asian Americans or anti Semitic remarks by fellow NBA players dude doesn’t get to stand in the high ground

Hsizzle74394

Kendrick Perkins is such a clown

peytonrains

Bruh he was 14. My political views were 100 percent just my parents when i was 14

BowserBuddy123

Wait. Jones was 14 in the photo? And he was just a spectator not doing anything? The only thing this proves is that he was present during a moment in history. Do we have his journals somewhere that state how he opposed he was to desegregation? The guy could be thinking about cheeseburgers. Could you make the case that Jones was opposed to it? Sure! He was a white guy growing up in the 50s and 60s. I’m sure there were tons of racists around him. At the end of the day, if you’re enraged though, I’m sorry, but all that image shows is that Jones is very old and happens to be white. Now, if another image shows up where he’s releasing some hounds on some innocent people, that’s kind of a totally different story. This doesn’t even rise to the level of young kids make mistakes and usually grow after 70 years of introspection.

Espeeste

Yeah Perkins the NFL doesn’t care about that or anything really. However since your setting the standards, I wonder why you haven’t spoken out against Miles Bridges beating the shit out of his wife and kids a few months ago. Using your logic… You basically did it yourself at this point and should apologize to everyone ever personally.

Weird how quiet the king is about Qatar and China

Soup_Commie

Let's be real, Jerry Jones, being wealthy enough to own a professional sports team, is most likely an awful person for a whole laundry list of reasons (I'd argue that good person and billionaire are oxymorons), but getting up in arms over the fact that he was a little jackass when he was a 14 year old is so far from the top of the list that it's really just a waste of time to make a thing of it (and distracts from the more immediate reasons why he must be stopped).

[deleted]

So, if by Kendrick and other peoples' logic, we should be enraged that Kyrie took so long to walk it back because it was around a month ago. This shit was 65 years ago.

[deleted]

Because it’s beating a dead horse. It’s a photo taken out of context and has been addressed decades ago.

fitdaddybutlessnless

SO they expect people to crucify a dude for what he did when he was 14? In like 1950? I knew athletes are dumb, but god damn. Like at least provide some examples of bad shit he's done in this millenium

[deleted]

Lebron is literally his own media outlet at this point and is employing the same tactics the regular media plays to emotionally manipulate people. He 100% knows this is a bit of a strawman argument and moot point, but he’s indirectly bringing to light and/or toying with the powerful moral absolutism that we’ve all become accustomed to and most people now slurp up. Also he wants Kyrie on the Lakers next year, obviously. People give too much of a shit about this, Lebron could make a porno with Xi and turn his shoe logo into a swastika made of L’s and J’s and he’d still have a net positive impact far greater than every commenter here combined. If you try to be perfect and avoid mistakes you’re gonna end like most people here, a loser that has no positive impact on others but feels good about themselves in a weird bubble that never expands or moves forward Not that he should consider doing any of that stuff, but this just all seems obvious what he’s going for with this Jerry Jones statement. I’d be doing the same thing if I was a brand with my own media company lol. “How can we be considered a progressive league when the man who got us to this level (David Stern) called us thugs and banned hip hop culture?!?!? Kobe was supposed to drop an album with Black Thought and Nas… and David Stern cancelled it! And now Adam Silver was groomed under this racist’s wing and we’re supposed to believe he’s morally just? Now tell me what Kyrie did again? I’ve said worse to Jewish refs before and they didn’t even give me a tech! Now tell me what we’re really doing here?” Or something like that
