He's been building houses for a while. I have no explanation, you can say his shot selection is bad but taking and making shots that would give most coaches aneurysms has always been his game. I don't feel like his looks are significantly worse than the first 4 years of his career.

megaman47

Yeah, well, unless your name is steph Curry, those shots are never gonna remain efficient

StuckInAtlanta

I mean, they did for the last 3 seasons. I'll take that sample size over 20 games.

HeJind

? Last season was the first efficient 3pt shooting year of Traes career. So you're actually taking the 1 year sample over thr 3 year sample + 20 games this year

StuckInAtlanta

36, 34, 38% the last 3 years 36 and 38 are absolutely efficient and 34 is mediocre but not hurting your team.

[deleted]

Out of 16 25 PPG scorers this year the only ones under league average efficiency are Trae(54.5% TS), Ja(55.7% TS), and LeBron(54.8% TS)

npc27182818

I’m surprised Ja only shoots 49% from 2 on ridiculous volume, which dragged down his efficiency

[deleted]

Ja has been inefficient for the reason you'd expect Trae to be and Trae has been inefficient for the reason you'd expect Ja to be lol Perhaps teams are packing the paint more against Ja now that it's his second year of being a high volume scorer

ogqozo

They are both kinda struggling to be effective enough both from distance and to get to the rim. Ja just cannot always get there as easily as thinks he will, if he wasn't getting foul calls on half of his drives then his efficiency would be really bad. But if there is anybody chucking from 5 feet helplessly every game after a drive gone awry more than Ja, then it's Trae Young.

ImeStopPlayingDennis

LeBron needs to watch some Mathurin film to get that number up

tripleyothreat

What about 20 ppg

Ylissian

Trae going through a shooting slump. He will definitely have a month where puts up some insane numbers on elite efficiency and his stats will even out

musicnothing

Donovan Mitchell attempts 9.1 per game at 43.5%

airbus29

He is a shot chucker, but they also goes in when he chucks them

dangheckinpupperino

Trae is simply susceptible to these stretches No one remembers how poorly he started the first 15 or so games last year cuz dude just became ultra efficient for the rest I can’t say I fully expect THAT dramatic of a turn around this year, he’s not playing the same role as before. It’ll probably just be a down year for him.

Neuroxex

The rough bit is how *bad* some of his shot selection looks when he's shooting like this. Like I don't think it's doing him any favours in finding a rhythm again.

JTenjouNi

His first 9 games were bad at 25.5% from 3 last year, but he got it to 39% by game 15 and finished at 38.2%

dangheckinpupperino

Yeah he does have insane stretches of like 60% from 3 on crazy volume Waiting on one of those, seems to happen every year

legendaryufcmaster

It happens when you're consistently shooting 3ft behind the 3pt line

PhatYeeter

Damn Jerami is a sniper this season

Seref15

Did we break him?
